Fantastic Resort!!!!!!!

We travelled the the Pestana in Nov. 2014 with friends and family and we all had a fantastic time! The resort was clean, the staff was friendly and extremely accommodating, the food was better than the food at other resorts we have stayed at in Cuba! The staff (both those out front and behind the scenes)helped a friend arrange an extraordinary surprise for me! Absolutely beautiful resort

A great hotel very modern, staff amazing, good food, great beach, would go back to this resort, close ride from the airport, traveled with husband and son and his girlfriend, Oct 31st for one week. Even though it was slow season they still maintained a full and helpful staff, Enjoy

Great Resort

The hotel is only a year old, very modern rooms, comfortable beds. The food was actually pretty good at this resort, drinks were fantastic. The beach to the right of the resort is spectacular, but if you go to the left it is very rocky(bring water shoes). Do your self a favour and take a taxi ride over to Lenny's Bar and Grill for a lobster and shrimp dinner, 15 CUC you cant go wrong. Go around 1200 so you can liste to the live band, great atmosphere, fun, fun, fun.

Perfect vacation

Stayed at The Pestana resort in Cayo Coco from September 26 to October 3, 2014. The hotel is brand new, rooms are clean, modern, with excellent air conditioning and hot water, one of the best. The beach is fantastic, nice walk in to the ocean with little rocks. The pool is beautiful and warm, great swim up bar. The beach bar serves drinks only, but again great service. Nice resort

food could have been better. Staff nice, Service very good. Rooms very clean and new. Could be a challenge for some in getting in and out of the tub due to the step up and over. Tub raised about 8" higher then floor level. Parts of beach rocky at the shore line and difficult to walk in.

Nice and new

Staff was friendly and fun and the resort was sparkling due I think to it's newness. It was a large resort with a lot of walking to get around. I prefer a smaller resort. The buffet was typical but the biggest drawback was the wait times for the cook-to-order stations. There does not need to be a pasta station at every meal - pasta in warming trays at dinner time would be sufficient. The meat station with cook-to-order steaks etc was excellent. Bright & Shiny Resort

Having read the reviews on Cayo Coco I was prepared for the lack of night life available off resort but was still taken aback on how quickly things comes to a standstill at the actual resort at night. Even the menu at the snack bar becomes very limited after 11 pm. Being the newest hotel on Cayo Coco when we went in April 2014, this resort is bright & shiny, however periodically the stench of sewage was overwhelming. The food was better than I have experienced in Cuba at other resorts and there was a good selection. Don't be in a hurry to attend the buffet, give the stations time to heat up and maintain the food temperatures. The pool is great with a separation for the children and adult sections. I found the beach to be less than enticing although the view is priceless. The available shade shelters at both the beach and pool is lacking. I give top marks to Derek & Franklin from the snack bar for making our group feel welcome and have fun. They went out of their way and were fabulous. Yamella from the Cuban Restaurant went far beyond to make my sister's birthday a memorable one. Thank you very much, we thoroughly enjoyed interacting with you. Joe from the fitness team kept a number of our party involved and entertained, he was quite outgoing. Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of the gentleman from the telephone room that was so helpful, forgive me as I would love to give him the credit he deserves. The rest of the staff at the resort could learn much from these five. Being a new hotel I was surprised to find the rest of the staff remote and less than helpful. We were a large group (six which quickly grew to 10 with new friends) and very willing to tip generously, however all of our attempts to interact with the lobby staff in the evenings as well as the restaurant staff were completely ignored. Was this a language barrier? Perhaps but this is a service industry and guests should be made to feel welcome and special. This needs to be addressed by the hotel management. The swim up/pool bar was staffed with only 1 person serving walk-up guests as well as swim-up guests on 2 different levels. At times the number of guests requiring service was overwhelming for 1 person and the wait was long. There is no consistency in the juice served at the bars throughout the complex, therefore no consistency in the drinks available. Each time you ordered the same drink it could be made completely different and taste different as well, sometimes good, sometimes not. More training is required for the staff on how to make drinks consistently and more effort is needed to provide them with the tools to do so. Overall we had a very enjoyable time but are in not in a hurry to return (unless my husband would like to experience what he missed). People are what keep me going back to the same hotel in Veradero. This is what is lacking here.

Great place!

Everyone at Pestana is so pleasant and helpful we stayed twice at the Pestana. : The food could be a bit better but everything is very clean. I think what makes this a great place to stay is the staff they are great people. (We met some Canadian people that complained about almost everything when we were there I guess they forget that they are in Cuba for one thing and I think that they were just not very happy people in life...)

Wonderful hotel

Amazing staff and a hotel. New hotel not too large. Beach is great and clean. All the restourants are very clean and efficient. Staff is sooo friendly and helpfull. Kids entertainment was very good. Overall amazing hotel and vacation.

Great value for the money...

Great time @ Pestana Cayo Coco with our 2 teenage boys. Downside was "repetitive" food @ buffets. Beaches fabulous...yes, some rocky areas...but beach itself is much quieter in those areas!!...and it's not like you have to go a long way to find sandy bottom, either. Staff & rooms very good [Agree with other comments about the showers...they work fine - just not sure why they'd have been designed that way!...and it is a bit of a step down into the tub - but these are non-issues for vast majority  [... read more]of people]. We did the walk to Lenny's Lobster Shack...we figured about 14 km's return trip. Worth every step! Best lobster I've ever had - and I've lots of Maritime blood! Not sure why they'd sell German beer instead of local, but - hey - it was all awesome...$15 I think...grilled large lobster tail, some mild fish, shrimps & salady stuff. A-1. And beautiful scenery.]. Quieter rooms at far end - we were top floor of building #8 with ocean view - which means you kinda look to the side off your balcony at the water. All good. Tip: take water shoes or suitable sandals...swim in 'em - and take them with you if you walk to Lenny's - couple of "rough" spots. It's what you make it, folks. Go & have fun...

Great Vacation

Pretty well everything about the hotel was great, with two exceptions. The food was not being cooked as well as it could have been. The bacon at breakfast was way undercooked and looked as if no one took any during the whole week we were there (we didn't starve though). For safety sake, they should remove some of the hazardous rocks that were found along the walking areas on the beach and shore up the handrails as you come onto the beach. Beautiful resort very clean and beautiful grounds

Great resort very friendly staff , food was great . Could have more games and entertainment but because it's so new they might have that in the future. Will be visiting again .Beach was very nice and clean.

Pestana Resort Cayo Coco

I was impressed the first time I stayed here by the quality of the food, cleanliness and friendliness of staff. The 2nd time was even better. I was pampered and treated extremely well. The beach and pool were wonderful and extemely clean. The staff were always attentive and very friendly. The restaurant buffet was well-stocked and was veried enough to keep your interest in the kinds of meat, fish, poultry and seafood. I will be attending this resort again.

Good value for the money

This is a new resort and yet it has the relaxed casual feel that you expect in Cuba. We have been to Cuba many times and we were pleasantly surprised by the food here.It was plentiful ,with temperature controlled tables at the buffet.We had beef a couple of times and it was very good ....also a good variety fo chicken ,pork and fish. The beer was a little weak .I am not a big drinker but I could probably have had 10 of these beers and would be sober .Beach bar was a little slow ,otherwise good service /The evening music in the Lobby was great with Cuban musicians playing their own twist on some favorites

A wonderful Resort

My husband and I spent 11 nights at Pestana, Cayo Coco in Nov.2013. Very friendly efficient staff and management always checking that things were running smoothly.. Good selection of food and attentive servers. Great evening shows and fun entertainment in the lobby on a wet day. Lovely rooms, not much of a view from room 5216 but good situation in the resort, close to everything. Our maid service was excellent, everything was kept fully stocked. Coral at waters edge on beach but 2 min walk then  [... read more]sandy. Clean beach and clear warm water, perfect for swimming. Lots of loungers on the beach and at the pool which was pleasant due to soft music. Good food at 24 hour snack bar but service a little slow...relax and enjoy the music. The 24 hour Bar in the lobby has fast and friendly Barmen and waiters. Sunwing flight was delayed 5 hours, not impressed with that. Arrived at resort at 2a.m. Quick check in, luggage delivered to our room. A wonderful holiday, we will return. Because of the coral at waters edge, I rate the beach/pool a 3 star but pool is a 4 star.

Relaxing in paradise

Beautiful grounds, great pool, well equipped gym, and friendly staff. As a couple we had a great week at this resort but there were only about 50 people there. This meant great service, lots of choices of loungers but the entertainment was lacking both during the day and mostly at night.

Perfect everything I was looking for

beaches - perfect food - edible and some pleasantly good excursions = very reasonable staff and rooms very hospitable the size of the resort was just right not too big the shows could use some work on them, but being a new resort they were passable

Super service at Pestana

We stayed at Pestana Cayo Coco Cuba in late March of 2014.The rooms all new and very well maintained and cleaned. They include a nice balcony, in room safe , flat screen tv, living area. Beds are comfortable. Check in was quick and efficient. The entertainment team was great. The beach and pools were great. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends.

Amazing Trip

We visited Pastana a couple of month ago and we still talk about it! We had a blast! Our room was clean, new and beautiful decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful Gustavo and Victor made our trip. The food was good and we went to the Italian restuarant 3 times - great food! The beach was beautiful! Great music and fun games to keep everyone going! The nightly shows were so fun to watch. The whole resort was clean. We had a great time

Great new resort in Cayo Coco

As this hotel is brand new, everything is fresh and clean. The staff are great, especially the bar staff, and the rooms are very spacious. The only downside was the food, which didn't offer that much choice, but this is Cuba, after all. It is FAR from everything, so don't plan on too many off-resort trips unless you want to take a boring bus ride....Overall, I was happy with this resort.
