Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing relaxing resort

Out of 4 resorts that I have stayed at in Cuba, I'd rate this one the best. While there are lively areas, there is always quiet sports to sit and relaxe if that's what you want. There are numerous bars. There is good table attentive table service. Cuba being as it is can result shortages. At times there can no limes, or lemons, or cola available. You need to be a fexable drinker. There is only one kind of beer. The tenis courts are in rough shap. Tennis rackets and balls are available, but the [... read more] attendent isn't always around to issure them. So if you want to play tennis bring your own racket and balls.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Worst Resort Ever

The scenery was amazing. There's no customer service, they don't know the meaning of that yet they want you to tip them in US/CAD. The doctor on-site will only take cash in us/cad. The waiters at the bar ignore you if you want coffee and are extremely rude. BTW, they don't have Coca-Cola if you want diet coke or any type of coke. They're also racist if you're not white or Latina. I will never go back to Cuba at all.

Sol Cayo Coco: Charming resort

Had a wonderful week at Sol Cayo Coco. The people were amazing -- both staff and other guests. The beach was fabulous and the room basic but clean. The food was not the greatest. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, but options were very limited for lunch and dinner. There seemed to be a shortage of just about everything, even a couple of days when there were no potatoes. Everything is easy to find and within easy walking distance. Service was cheerful and friendly with one glaring exception -- the Air Canada rep, who was unbelievably rude.

Melia Cayo Coco: Excellent resort

From the time you check in to the time you check out, this is a very friendly, accommodating resort. The staff is awesome, and remember you from the previous year. The grounds are very user friendly, well kept and being a small resort, everything is easy to find and get around. Looking forward to another return visit, in the future.

Starfish Varadero: Changed room two times

We were given a room in the main building with three beds, no balcony, no air conditioning, and no flushing toilet. Told to pay 330 USD cash to move to bungalow. Moved to bungalow; unpacked. The air conditioning did not work; waited for repairs. The repairs could not be made, so we moved again the next day. The roof leaked on the rainy days, but fortunately we brought our own towels so we could spread them on the floor to contain water. The beach was awesome. The service is fine if you tip. The  [... read more]food was acceptable. I lost weight and very happy with that. Happy to be home!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Amazing month!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Iberostar Daiquiri in Cayo Guillermo for a full month, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff is truly exceptional—everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. The front desk team is always helpful and friendly, the service staff throughout the resort is amazing, and the bartenders deserve a special mention for their great drinks, smiles, and friendly conversations that make every day even better. This is  [... read more]a place I love returning to, and I’ll be heading back again for another month in just a couple of weeks. I can’t recommend the Iberostar Daiquiri enough for anyone looking for a warm, welcoming, and unforgettable stay.

Melia Cayo Coco: Fabulous Week

Second time this year to this resort. Arrived at noon and was told a room was ready, but if we wanted to wait for this other particular room we could wait. We chose to wait, but appreciated the option to get a room upon arrival. Weather was fantastic. Service was excellent. The vegetable options were lacking this week, which is not normal. I didn't see carrot/onion the entire week, and cabbage and peppers only twice. It's not like they're hiding it in the back, it's just not available. The food that was available was excellent, and thankful for the variety and the other options made available. The rooms at this resort are basic, but super smart layout and A/C worked well and hot water always available anytime of day. Public washrooms are incredibly clean and always stocked. We will definitely return!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Lovely as always

We have been to many parts of Cuba over the years but always return to Melia Cayo Santa Maria. The hotel is well run, the staff are warm, welcoming and do the best they can under sometimes trying conditions. The grounds are lovely and the rooms, large and comfortable. Sure, the showers were often lukewarm and sometimes there was a shortage of fresh fruit or veg but there was always plenty of choice in meats, cheeses, soups, salads and desserts. The beach is one of the best, and even when it's too wavy too swim you can walk the 8km and not feel crowded, ever. The country is in trouble, and the staff are grateful for any gifts. US cash is good but practical things we take for granted are perhaps better. We took acetaminophen, ibuprofen, toothpaste, toothbrushes, reading glasses and feminine napkins.

Starfish Guardalavaca: OK Resort

This review needs to be in the context of the difficulties that Cuba is currently facing (Dec 2025) with fuel shortages which is causes blackouts on the Island, loss of Wifi in the resorts, and apparent shortages of foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables. Lack of Wifi meant I had to use "Roam like Home" for data for my phone at my own expense for much of the 7 day trip. Food shortages meant a very limited and repetitive menu for breakfast lunch and dinner, with a few exceptions. Cuba has never [... read more] been a destination for foodies, but variety was significantly more limited than on my previous trips to Cuba. The resort itself was not well laid out. The reception was at the top of a hill which made accessibility difficult for older guests with walking limitations. There was no way to phone them - room phones were not working. Communication was lacking. I had to get departure times and arrangements from another guest. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Staff in general were not as friendly as I had been used to though. Again, this may be related to the hard times Cubans are having due to oil embargoes on the island. The vacation was overall good value. The sun and beaches were great. Transportation to and from the resort was efficient and comfortable. On the downside, I reserved and paid for seats with more legroom on the SunWing website, but these were not communicated to WestJet, so I ended up in regular seats, and now have to seek a refund. Perhaps a downside of booking a vacation like this is that there are many entities involved (TripCentral, SunWing, WestJet Nexus and the Resort). It is difficult to know who to contact or who is responsible if things go wrong.

Playa Luxury Cayo Guillermo: Excellent resort

We very much enjoyed our week at the resort. The beach is spectacular (Playa Pilar) with more than enough shade and comfortable beach beds; we lucked out with the weather and the sea was unusually warm for December (27.5 degrees) and calm enough for swimming most days. The rooms are beautifully appointed, ours had an ocean view which was spectacular (building 1). The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The resort amenities are very good, grounds immaculate, the staff are very friendly and pro [... read more]vide great service. We appreciated the butler service - we had a small maintenance issue in the room which we reported to the butler service via WhatsApp and it was fixed right away; they even followed up with a handwritten note the next day, which was a nice - and frankly unexpected - touch. Check in was absolutely seamless, wi-fi worked well, including in the beach. There wasn’t much in the way of entertainment (we expected that) but we really enjoyed the live music in the lobby bar every night. The food was good (for Cuba), great selection of cheeses and somewhat inconsistent selection of fresh fruit and veggies (again, as expected for Cuba); we enjoyed the buffet and the beach grill more than the a-la carte restaurants. Overall, the resort met our expectations and is now our top choice for Cuba.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Ok resort

Personally I will not recommend this resort for family with kids, people who doesn’t eat pork or vegetarian. Everything in this resort mixed with pork. Also this resort has nothing for kids to eat beside pasta there is nothing to eat. Extremely disappointing

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Quiet and relaxing

We stayed in the junior service royal suite. Based on time of year it was not busy. Some areas were showing wear. Staff were very friendly even though we were not sure they understood what we were asking a good part of the time - always a sile and appreciative of tips / gifts. Food selection were very adequate. Mix options for drinks limited ie no cola !

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: the best resort

It was vary good resort I love it and i will go back vary soon . the food was good . the beach was Amazing i did not belief that beach was that match beautiful the pool was vary good the whiter was so so good actually i wanted to stay more that is way i want to go back on January 2026 for sour .

Melia Las Americas: Fun golf resort

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Fun time for a golf trip. The greens need some work but otherwise good. Food was fine. The beach was really nice. The hotel overall needs a refresh. Good for a guys golf trip. If your wife is at all fussy you may need an upgraded room.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

Grand Aston is a very nice resort. Very up to date, spotless, the grounds are very nice, neat and tidy. The rooms are nice and also very clean. The beach is beautiful and pools are clean. The staff are awesome especially Yoelbi and Jose in the Lobby bar, great young men. Very friendly and love to make you laugh. The food was pretty good (it's Cuba) but lots of choices. We will return.

Melia Costa Rey: We love this resort,we will be back next year,it was our third visit and we’re enjoying everything

This is very friendly environment with amazing staff,very clean rooms,food service facilities,beautiful beach.very nice entertainment.Lots of activities all day long. We were visiting all restaurants and I would like to say we enjoyed it very much,delicious food and great service from staff who were serving us. I would recommend this resort to my family and friends.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Exceeded our expectations

This resort dramatically exceeded our expectations of a Cuban resort. The property was spacious, clean, well manicured, the rooms were perfect (we were in the Royal section), the food was very good, we ate at 4 different restaurants ( the Japanese is a MUST), food presentation excellent, the staff were Exceptional, from front desk, servers in restaurants, cafe's, bars, maids, grounds keepers...everyone was over the top courteous, engaging. The beach area was spacious, the pools expansive, clean. [... read more] A must place to visit. On our flight home we heard from many persons who stayed at other resorts, they commented about how they paid less than $1,000 BUT in the next breath they spoke about 'tired properties', food bland or poor, non courteous staff, lack of or no hot water, etc etc. There is an old saying, you get what you pay for...The Paradisus Princesa Del Mar is definitely worth the price, it will be a MUST return for us.

Sol Palmeras: Nice Resort

Very nice hotel our room was updated. Music was a bit loud at times. Beach was very nice didn’t have to get up early to get a chair which was nice. Food was okay the people were so nice and welcoming. The new beach bar was awesome.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice resort

Great beach and swimming pool. Italian restaurant excellent. Japanese very good. Buffet - got enough to eat but a little boring. Service and staff very good. Rooms and grounds good Had an enjoyable stay and would consider going back. Kettle in room which I thought was a good idea. Would bring some coffee and tea if I returned.
