The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Good resort

Good resort but not on par with the Grand Palladium in Mexico. We spent 2 weeks here in April 2017 and had a very nice time but this resort did lack a few things. First, there was a great lack of evening entertainment and the resort seemed to be in business for the sole purpose of selling wine. Our 1 bedroom jacuzzi suite was AMAZING and the food in every restaurant was beyond our expectation. However, every time we turned around they were trying to sell us wine...even the house wine that is in [... read more]cluded with the all-inclusive. Upon check-in we were given the wrong room, a step down from what we paid for. This was corrected the next day but not without a 2-day inconvenience. The service was top notch and above what we could have expected. The food was an A+++. Any and all issues were dealt with immediately and with great care and if it wasn't for the constant attempt to sell us wine it might have been perfect. We have visited the Palladium on 5 occasions and were never pestered to purchase wine, or anything else. We prefer the laid back feel of the Palladium and the much more available night life that they offer over the Azul but having said that, the Azul was a solid 5*.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Excellent Food, Beautiful Resort!

I went with my husband and 2 kids age 19 mths and 4. The food was incredible and wait staff was excellent. Grounds were well maintained, rooms were a good size. It was a smaller resort (and really no need for a shuttle although available) but everything you could possibly need was there. Not a party resort, but a very classy one. Highly recommend. We don't usually like to go to the same place twice but we finally found a resort where we would without hesitation!

The hotel was beautiful - clean, well groomed and easy to get around. Loved the layout. Even at capacity, it never felt too busy. Food was spectacular and service was perfect. Would definitely go back to the Fives

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Justifies the 5 star rating

this resort opened only some 10 months ago but seemed mature both the grounds and buildings as well as the staff. The food was plentiful and nicely presented. The staff was very friendly and helpful..Our room was large with an additional sitting area inside and 5 separate sitting areas on the veranda which surrounded 22 sides of our room separated from the room by glass. Although our building was adult only we were surprised to see many families accompanied by children who had full access to the [... read more] facilities including visiting at the pool bar and ordering virgin cocktails. They did not diminish our experience but guests need to be aware that there may be a good number of children present Pools and ocean are immediately adjacent to the other facilities and minimal walking is required and for someone with a disability rides are available. We thought that communication between management and guests could be improved

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great resort!

Resort was great - pools were amazing, rooms were large and clean. Views from the balcony were beautiful. Food was great, lots of variety. Loved that all restaurants were without reservations (except for Le Chique) so you could just show up anywhere and likely wait minimally for a table. Kids' club was nice as well, my kids enjoyed it! Beach however wasn't great. Lots of seaweed, lots of rocks. There was however a great little BBQ area on the beach, which almost made up for it!

This resort is amazing. From the amazing food and restaurants to the fine attention to detail of the grounds. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have been to this resort twice and have been recommending it to friends and family since. Thank you Azul Fives for the great vacation .

Great Hotel!! Food was excellent, our room was amazing, overall we had an excellent vacation. The beach could have been better there was a lot of seaweed but the staff was doing their best to try to keep it clean.

Azul five has good pools and responsive, helpful staff. It has great clean rooms and clean restaurants facilities with professional cooking personal. From a point of view of a person with celiac disease, all the food that was ordered specially was very good, especially in Arezzo restaurant. However, the "gluten free ", free serve table at Flavours restaurant wasn't safe for people with celiac disease because of high contamination. All other people were touching it and some items from gluten fr [... read more]ee tables were found at other tables and then brought back by the staff to gluten free table. That is the only thing that needs more education. Overall, good place and good memories!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Azul Fives by Karisma

Hotel was very nice, dining options were excellent, facilities were great, compact site with minimal walking if desired, lots of pools and great kids facilities. Only downside was Villas 15 - 19 were isolated from beach and the main pools. The Deluxe room in Villas 15 - 19 was sub-standard and all had a connecting door to the adjacent suite which made them potentially noisy depending on the family next door.

We recently got back from 7 days at the Azul Fives Resort and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The resort grounds, staff, service, food, pools - were second to none. Absolutely amazing. The beach was beautiful too however quite rocky and wavy, especially for our toddler but it wouldn't deter us from coming back in a heartbeat!

I can't begin to express the amazing time we had at this resort..started with the effortless check-in to the service from the staff from all the restaurants, and servers from the pool and beach. I would recommend this resort to anyone, I will not hesitate to return.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great Vacation

This was our second visit to the Azul ! We got married there 3 years ago and returned this year with our 4 month old daughter. The resort is very accommodating had all the extras we needed for the baby so saved us on packing . Great food great service and very friendly staff . I would highly recommend this property.

El Dorado Royale: Amazing Resort

We arrived home on April 6th, and it as one of our most favorable vacations we have had The weather was fantastic with a light bit of a breeze We were well aware that the coast has a seaweed problem but the staffed worked very hard in keeping it clear every day!! The Kampai Restaurant was great as well we loved the Sushi. We really enjoyed the Fuentes Culinary Restaurant which was a great experience, we have never seen anything like that and food was fantastic We were so impressed with the waiters on how professional they all were and how they all made us fell important The staff were very friendly and most helpful, to many waiters and staff to name them all I would say my top employee was the person that cleaned our room and am so sorry I forgot her name but I have never seen anyone so detailed on what she did - I hope the management recognises all the hard work they all do! We were so impress with the Resort, the Staff the Restaurants and the full experience the El Dorado Royale that we have become Members of the Exotic Travelers We look forward in returning to El Dorado Royale and visiting their sister locations

El Dorado Maroma: Paid a lot and got very little.

This was my 12th visit to the Cancun/Mayan area and my first ever review on a travel web site. Felt compelled to write this. Best thing about the property it is very clean and well maintained. It all ends there. From the time we arrived to the time we left, it was as if someone was always trying to sell you something. If it wasn't time share, it was spa, the need to buy a $$75-$100 bottle of wine on the beach to get food service (ridiculous) or indigenous jams in the front lobby and most  [... read more]restaurants(very weird). For the price we paid they should have given them out as a departure gift. Couldn't get food at the beach or the pool. That's a first. The resort was under staffed for the entire time we were there. I'd recommend they shift their labour investment to less management/sales agents and more wait and kitchen staff to serve the guests. The wait staff that they did have on were just not set up for success. Felt sorry for them, especially in the Italian restaurant. Far too many tables to serve. I understand you will need to wait from time to time, but when a restaurant is only seating 40% of their tables at peak dinner times, again ridiculous. Notwithstanding this, they have the advantage of knowing exactly how many guest that are on their property every day, not being staffed/prepared is unacceptable, especially as it hails itself as a gourmet dining experience. Property was at 82% occupancy. Can't imagine when it hits 100%. The fitness center was very small, and always far too hot and humid. Many people noted this on the sign in forms, in the comments section. again nothing was done about it. This room was definitely an after thought. The food overall was ok, not gourmet. The Mgt. should do a bit of competitive shopping to see what some of the other resorts are doing re "gourmet" and the quality of the food offering. They have a lot to learn. The best restaurant on the property was definitely the near the beach, served up great lunches. The ala carte's were disappointing, except maybe the Asian. The biggest disappointment we experienced was with the front desk mgt. and staff. Upgraded to a presidential suite. When we viewed the room and the upsell was happening, it had a full stocked bar with 5-6 bottles of alcohol on the TV credenza and a full compliment of snacks. confirmed the upgrade, went back to the room to unpack, asked the bellman where the bottles and snacks went?? wasn't included in my $150 per night upgrade, REALLY??!!. This service is standard in most resorts for a lot less and without an upgrade. Never met my "concierge for the first 3 days!! Weren't introduced at check in.When I did happen to run into him to discuss my absent room turn down service, he commented ...."oh I have been calling your room, where have you been??!! I guess he could have left a message, which is why it was bs. Never heard of voice mail I guess. a useless service at this property. Even after this connection never saw or heard from them for the rest of the week. I understand they have a pillow service and other customizable services????? Missed our turn down service 4 of the 7 nights, even after pointing it out to the front desk team. One night they came to do the turndown at 10:25!! No one took ownership, a constant complaint around the pool. Yes the beach is beautiful. The seaweed is even more grand and it stinks all day long. They do their best to clean it up. One pile was left down towards the 14 block for 2 days. The front desk staff are dealing with conflict all day long, of course from disgruntled guests. When we checked in someone was complaining quite vigorously about not being happy about something in particular. Seemed to be non stop. This was a precursor for the week. Not worth the money. Never go back

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Amazing Resort

Resort was great! Do not let the smaller entrance fool you, the resort is large beautiful and fantastic staff. The entire staff friendly, kind and enthusiastic. Food was fantastic and never had difficulty finding food, even with dietary restrictions. Great time, only down side is slightly rocky beach. I would go back in a second

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Our favourite place so far!

We are Azul Fives fans to say the least. We just returned from our fifth visit to this beautiful resort. We love the grounds, the rooms, the food, the staff.....the margaritas! We like the Karisma chain of hotels in general and have never been disappointed. In our minds, one of the main reasons is that there are no reservations required in the restaurants - if there's room, they will seat you. The food is outstanding at Azul Fives and their servers are so polite and friendly. Our "thank you [... read more]s" are always met with "it's a pleasure". After this many visits, this place feels like a second home to us. We will definitely be returning!

El Dorado Royale: Not worth the money

Where do I begin? The rooms are dark and dingy. The a/c could not keep up with the humidity, our clothes and bedding were always damp and the room smelt musty. 3 of the 7 nights that we were there our room was not cleaned. The food is good, what little you got. Room service was a must and used it regularily to get enough to feel satisfied. The beach is terrible, the week we were there it was a sea weed battle. The beds are very uncomfortable and unable to get comfortable. The mattress was a mess [... read more]! The resort was far too large for us. They need more smorgasbords during the day hours.

Generations Riviera Maya: Generations Riviera Maya

One of best resorts I've been too, food was awesome and service was great, unfortunately not knowing Spanish slowed some service down but overall a top rated location. Shuttles between the Adult section and Family section, but also can walk if you enjoy a 10 - 15 minute walk. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

Generations Riviera Maya: Generations is Very Kid friendly

This is a very beautiful hotel but if you don't have kids i recommend staying next door at the el dorado. Generations has amazing modern rooms with an extremely comfortable bed and a neat balcony pool. There is shuttle service that runs all day in between generations and el dorado, we spent alot of time at el dorado because it is an adults only resort and the pool and bar were a bit more laid back. We were woken every morning at generations by screeching kids playing on the blow up pool toy righ [... read more]t below our room, generations pool bar was overrun by children and was tough to enjoy a cocktail while sitting in the pool. After dinner the entertainment was a disney movie by the pool but at 9 pm they had some pretty cool shows on the terrace. The food on the other hand was absolutely amazing, 5 stars at every restaurant, the only buffet was the chefs kitchen and everything there was great. Make sure to visit jo jo's bar and restaurant, their lunch and dinner menu are superb and we even enjoyed their bbq beach burgers at noon and the swings around the bar were a nice touch.
