Great people

This resort overall is very nice, the rooms were clean and modern as was the main hotel lobby. The highlight was the staff. All very willing to help and serve you. The A la carte food was great as well. However the buffet food is quite different than the food most North Americans are accustomed to. And while you can find something to eat theres a 1/5 chance that you could get sick from it since your body isnt used to the food. Clearest water I have seen at a resort, non crowded beaches and white sand as well as lots of palapas to shade you from the sun. Yoel is a Barista at Mikes coffee and he is amazing. He ensures everyone is happy and will remember you after only seeing you once as he genuinely does love his job and interacting with guests. The pool area is nice but very loud during the day, I could hear it clearly from the beach which is quite a walk from the pool. The nightlife is also scarce. Aside from live music played by the same band doing the same songs every night and a show every other night there isnt a lot to do at the resort aside from a game of pool or sitting at the bar. They are however in the process of building shopping and a few other amenities at a new centre right next to this resort so in a few months im sure there will be more to do just off of the resort, a two minute walk down the beach. If you dont mind walking quite a lot as the hotel rooms, beach, pool, lobby and restaurants are all fairly spread apart, go to sleep earlier and you are not the pickiest eater then I would reccomend this resort to you. 7/10 the only real downside is the food of course.

Nice resort/Beautiful beach

Beautiful hotel with a beautiful beach. Very clean and the service was great. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the food and entertainment although the entertainment before dinner at the bar was quite nice. It was the same entertainment at the pool everyday which became annoying after a few days. Quite often what we ordered at the a la carte restaurants was not what we received. This hotel is not wheelchair or stroller friendly at all and some walkway areas were not lit at night and  [... read more]it took them several days to fix the lighting after I mentioned it at the front desk. I will not return to this hotel as I felt I did not get a lot of value for what I paid.

Great staff, great beach

The staff is so super nice, they made our vacation all the more pleasant. We stayed in room 350 and had a view of the ocean. The beach is gorgeous, with super soft white sand. Windsurf, paddle boat, kayaks and catamarans are available at the beach. The food is not the best but all the other qualities more than make up for that department. Definitely recommended!

AMAZING PLACE

WE ENJOYED THE TIME TO STAY THERE. BEACH IS great. Only need to improve is the food quality . The resort is clean and the people are nice too. Our room hair dryer was bad and made us to keep call for repairing.

Beautiful resort on a beautiful beach

The hotel was gorgeous and the service was wonderful. The beach was one of the best I have seen but after that I don't have much positive to say. The food was not good at all and the selection was poor. One of the food venues was not opened all week...not sure why. The entertainment was scarce and not good either except the bands that were in the bar area in the early evening....they were quite good. The gym was very nice with an attendant on hand at all times. Great resort

Overall great experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Resort is clean but as it is very new, there were still a lot of renovations and some things need to be fixed. The beach is the best, soft sand and beautiful clear water. Something that can be worked on is the food as options are very limited.

Beautiful resort

the resort is beautiful clean ocean is amazing Little disappointed in the variety of food not much variety at dinner. staff is amazing very friendly. Service in the restaurants are very slow but overall your going for the beach entertainment was great. I would definitely go again.

Great vacation at Ocean Casa del Mar

We stayed at Ocean Casa del Mar, Cuba the week of July 1st -July 8th 2016. There is a 1h30min trip from airport to hotel which we took as a bonus- a excelent opportunity to see a bit of real Cubafor free. Very nice and modern resort, brand new, we had an extremely clean room very close to everything. The beach is long, with beautiful sand, ocean had crystal clear water and we had a lot of shadow on the beach - many chairs to sit and enjoy. Pools were great, service received was excel [... read more]lent everywere we went (lobby bar, buffet, restaurants,beach, pools). All staff were going far and beyoind our expectation trying to make our stay an unforgetable one. We also enjoyed food and the night shows were great. A disco was also available for late party each night. Overall, based solely on our own experience, it was a great vacation and we will return withourt hesitation. Great however issues

The resort it self is amazing we were thrown back how beautiful it looked when we stepped in the lobby real high class!!! Beach was amazing white powder sand and the water was so beautiful blue as the sky felt like I was in a heated pool!! Big let down was I have health issues and when my wife went to the front desk she had no help no doctor and really no help from the front desk I felt better after a few hrs but was worried I would need medical attention. This is a big down for us to go back as [... read more] much as we loved the place. Other staff was great made friends and helped us more then others. Food was ok buffet was ok could be better but the other high class restaurants were better!!! It's a 2 HR drive from the airport to the resort however u see a lot. It's not 100% open they have markets and stuff disappointed we couldn't go there. Over all it is a nice place to go to

Nice Resort

The very well kept, friendly staff, needed more activities at the beach. the Wi-Fi was horrible. Buffet food was ok. Restaurant food was great. it would help to have more staff who understood English. the was a particular staff member by the name of Yayma, she was absolutely amazing and really made sure our stay was pleasant.

Good resort

This hotel was pretty good. There were a few things that didn't work like the closet door and we had ants in our room, but they took care of the ants right away. The dining was great. The beach was incredible. Overall all it was pretty good. Just a few things to iron out as it is so new.

Resort Needs alot of work

I understand this is a new resort. Supposedly a 5 *. The grounds dictate the resort being new. The parts of the hotels which were open were definitely not 5* service. The rooms were nice but a lot of people including ourselves had problems with showers overflowing into the hallway, power surges which blew out a lot of peoples blowdryers. They are very skimpy with toilet paper, no Kleenex's in the room, they put a coffee pot with coffee and sugar but no creamer. House cleaning was not geared to 5 [... read more]* our beds were made but the floors were not swept everyday, coffee cups not cleaned nor coffee pot. "The food tasted recycled every day, most of the days they did not have any bread for the hamburgs or hotdogs, Staff preparing food on beach not very clean touching raw meat then making sandwiches, licking there fingers while also making sandwiches, we threw ours out. When it rained the water entered the main floor of buildings, very slippery not cleaned up right away, my husband fell, broken glass layed on main floor practically whole day. I was quite disappointed as this made us decide this will be our last time going to Cayo Santa Maria. Most of the Staff was extremely friendly, especially the beach bar staff. I feel the resort should have had what was opened,(rooms) up and running with 5*amenities before opening the doors. Grounds are one thing but Amenities are another. The pool was big but not very deep, and very crowded. We travel quite a bit and was really taken back with this place.

Pretty good

This resort was nice, very big. The beach was my favourite part... very beautiful. The customer service was okay. The food was a bit better then average Cuba food. The rooms were very nice and clean with luxurious bathrooms. Everything was good. Only thing.. due to this being a new resort a lot of construction was still going on... many parts of the resort had no flowes or trees planted yet.. just kind of taking away from the general apperance of the place. Amazing resort

The rooms were very nice especially the bathroom was huge with a great rain shower .the beach was amazing ,lots of space ,loungers and shade . Pool also was beautiful . The staff was very friendly and helpful . The only suggestion I have would be more lighting on the walkways at night and the food while plentiful was not high quality or tasty

Amazing Vacation!

My boyfriend and I arrived at Ocean Casa del Mar on May 6th and had the most relaxing time! We were in building 6 which was very conveniently located near the beach, pool and snack bar. The rooms were very clean and the staff did a great job of keeping them this way! Generally we spent our mornings on the beach and then we would move to the pool after lunch to join in with the entertainment team's activities. The beach was beautiful and we were easily able to find shade while enjoying the waves! [... read more] The pools were clean with a swim up bar and above ground bar. We had no issues finding chairs/shade and did not need to get up early to 'reserve' our spots. Entertainment staff were very engaging and clearly enjoyed the games and activities with guests (we participated in most of the daily afternoon competitions, lots of fun!)!! Prior to arriving, I was a little bit concerned about how the food would be but I was pleasantly surprised. At the buffet there was a wide variety of options including cook to order stations for omelettes, meat, crepes, etc. The a la carte restaurants served delicious meals as well and we were able to enjoy our night without feeling rushed. Limoncello and Origami were our favourite a la carte restaurants! Our evenings consisted of playing ping pong or pool in the main lobby and then ending the night with a couple of drinks at Mike's Coffee. Our server Luis Mariano was very kin, making us feel right at home! During our stay, we also went on the full-day catamaran excursion which included snorkelling, swimming with the dolphins, lunch, and then another round of snorkelling. This was a fantastic experience that I highly recommend! Both my boyfriend and I had a fabulous vacation at this resort and definitely plan to return! During our stay, only half of the resort was open because of construction but I look forward to visiting the resort when it is completely finished!

Amazing resort,beach is beautiful

great resort, very clean and the food was excellent.The beach was very close to rooms with easy access and you could get drinks and food on the beach which made things great. This was by far the best place to go in cuba.

Simply Amazing and Amazing Service

We had a great time at the Ocean Casa Del Mar resort we were there the week of 13th May till 20th May2016. This resort is beautiful and all the staff working there are simply amazing. We travelled with 2 kids and we had a blast. Lovely beach good food and great service !!! Cannot ask for more we jell return in October this year.

Great vacation!

It was a perfect resort for us. Beautiful beach and rooms. Food was great as were the drinks. Loungers at pool were very nice and there was a good amount of shade. Good entertainment provided by staff.

By far the best resort I've been to!

This resort was absolutely stunning! The room was fresh and clean. The food was above Cuban "standards". The staff were friendly and always looking to give you a great experience! The lobby bar and Mikes coffee were two of my favourite places to hang out, besides the amazing pool and breathtaking beach and Aqua waters. I will definitely be going back, even though the hotel and grounds are recently new I have zero complaints!

Beyond Amazing Trip

My boyfriend, friend, her boyfriend and I, all stayed at Ocean Casa Del Mar on May 4th to May 11th. Out of the four of us it was the two boys first trips down south and we all have nothing but amazing things to say about this beautiful resort. Food was the best food we've ever had in Cuba, a lot of selection in the buffet. Each of us were very full leaving the buffet each meal. One night after a coupl [... read more]e of drinks we were trying to find something to snack on but weren't 100% sure where we could get something so we walked to the snack bar by the pool that also doubles as an el a carte at night up until 10pm. At the time we got there it was already closed but the wait staff working that night reopened the restaurant for us, giving us a 4 course meal and even a bottle of champagne to take back to our room. BEYOND GREAT SERVICE!!! Speaking of great service the bartenders in the lobby bar became our bestfriends, we spent almost every night with them. We would ask them to make us something crazy and new. Every drink they made was delicious! Entertainment was perfect, a lot of chances to do something out of your comfort zone and a chance to win a prize. Each of us one at least one prize doing an activity either on the beach or by the pool! The recreation people were great they remembered everyone and their names, sitting down and having long conversations with us. I could write a lot more than this because this was literally the best vacation I have ever been on. Usually by the end of a vacation youre pretty ready to go home but even now being home I find myself missing it more and more each day. Were already talking about booking another trip as soon as we can. I would HIGHLY recommend this resort!!!!
