Memories Paraiso: A great expiriance

This time we had our vacation in Memories Paraiso. The place is well-organized with flowers and a lot of vegetation around it. The people were very friendly. The food was well prepared with a big variety. I liked the pears and the cookies!

Definitely had the best needed solo vacation. I met the most incredible group of people that we shared a week of fun in the sun and it was just such fun! I was in the diamond club which isn’t needed as the food shortage and time I went, was slower. Be kind tip everyone and remember they are not in control of the shortages. Lots to eat and drink! Grand Memories Holguin: Grand Memories

What a great hotel. It was an excellent experience from the very beginning. The instructions given by trip Central made things so much easier to prepare, and to take this trip. The rooms are so clean. Everything works and every day the rooms are made up perfect. The entire hotel is so clean And the pool areas are well kept it was a great experience. I hope that they will be able to get a little more variety in their food, but the service was excellent.

Memories Jibacoa: A Great Trip to a Great Resort

As usual all about this resort was excellent! - Staff, food, room, grounds etc. This was great vacation. So good to be back (our 11th visit). The food was particularly good. Weather was wonderful. Strongly recommend this resort.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Outdated

The hotel is outdated, however clean. The staff were unbelievably rude, this was my 22 time in Cuba and 2 at this hotel, very sad to see how down hill it’s gotten, the pjs to going to Cu a has always been how friendly the staff are, not the case anymore

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Lovely resort

Our family went to Cuba February 2 to February 9 2024. Ages 55 to 63. Everyone in our party said they would go back. The resort is immaculate. The Cuban people were very accommodating. The bus ride to the resort from the airport is 2 hours. I always enjoy a long ride as you see the country side. The special coffee's were delicious. The beach and pools had plenty of seating both areas were really nice. The only thing I personally had trouble with was the walkways to the beach. My first day there, [... read more] I tripped and fell off the walkway. I thought I sprained my ankle but it unfortunately turned out to be a fracture. I was able to get a tensor and Ramon our butler brought in a wheelchair from his home for me to use. We were all much more contentious of trip hazards after my incident. We never went hungry. I cannot honestly rate the food as I was in my room for 4 days. If they do not have it, they cannot serve it. The other family members thought the food was fine.

Grand Memories Holguin: Very Surprised

The grounds and hotel are new and in a great shape. The hotel and rooms were really clean and up to a standard. Normally, I don't write reviews, but I'm compelled to write this one. Having been to Cuba more than a dozen times, I was surprised by the shortage of food. We all don't go to Cuba for their gourmet meals, but beautiful beaches, facilities and people. This time, the shortage of food in this hotel was beyond tolerance. I went with my friend and two 5 yr olds. There was no milk, eg [... read more]gs, real juice, fruit...just stuff made of powder. The only fruit all week was unripened pineapple. The rice and pasta were stale and I struggled to get the meals for kids. There were no condiments like vinegar, oil, olives, ketchup, hot sauce, etc. that one would find at a buffet. All that was available was salt and sugar, all week. We had eggs for breakfast only one day and when fries arrived, mid-week, one afternoon at the 24 hr. snack bar, people swarmed like bees to get them. Line ups for food/meals at any time at the buffet were huge, with chefs/cooks using only one cooking surface making food for one person at a time (manager told them so). The wait was at least 20 min per person. It was bad. I wasn't expecting the world, this is Cuba after all; but this was beyond tolerance. The only dinner that was good was at the Japanese a la carte restaurant. Beach bar bartenders, Julian and Mirena were amazing and made do with little drinks that were available. Once we arrived, we discovered the 'Sanctuary Section' of the hotel for adults. Ridiculous! They were able to eat at the 'common buffet' and those who purchased regular packages were not allowed to 'their section' (couldn't even get that package with two little ones). For the rooms; get ready to get a 1L of water for 4 people and that's it. Nothing else gets filled in the mini fridge...unless you track down the water/juice boy and pay him at least $5USD/day to give you 2 little juice boxes. It was bad...and I didn't expect much. Who would, knowing how poor the Cubans are. Perhaps, the reason is that the resort is called Grand Memories Holguin, leading one to believe that's it's in Holguin the city. It's not, it's 120km away from the Holguin airport and very isolated, with rare supply/deliveries to the hotel. The name is because of the reference to the province of Holguin. I give this hotel 2* because of the nice grounds/clean rooms, that's all. As far as the beach goes, you can swim in about 3 meters into the water, hoping not to scrape, brake or injure your feet on large shells/stones/sea grass that are countless. If you dare to go to Cuba post covid, make sure you go to a resort hub like Guardavalaca, or a big city full of resorts where they get easier and regular supply of food. Do not go far from the very populated/resort area like I did ( I didn't do my research) long long bus ride at $4-6 CDN for 1L of gas....no supply, you'll be hungry and come back home at least 5 lbs lighter. This is so sad to write about a country I used to visit so often and enjoyed every time before. I think I'm done with Cuba for the next long while. I forgot to add that most waiters/bartenders at the lobby bar and pools won't even notice you unless you have money on you or you're waiving USDs before you order; not after.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Beautiful resort

From reception to departure, we were well looked after. Everyone was friendly and helpful. You felt safe there. The beach was clean and safe. The pool and grounds were clean and safe. Lots of activities to participate in. Very welcoming environment. The food was beautifully prepared, no shortage. Lots of variety. A beautiful location for a relaxing holiday!

Memories Cayo Largo: Worst experiance of any trip I’ve ever been on!!

The restaurant manager and restaurant host shook me, my gf and 70 YO father down for $75USD. After I disputed the charge I was forced to pay. They called police, immigration and forced me to sign a document under distress. 2 sunwing reps did nothing to help. They came to my room at 11:45pm when I was sleeping to scare and intimidate me further. The absolute worst! The two hotel staff and two sunwing staff should be fired immediately. This was my second visit to the resort, I will never return. I will never go to Cuba ever again! I have never left a review before but wanted to let everyone know what happened! So scary. Such a bad experiance. Other than the worst experiance of my life here are the other reasons why I wouldn’t return. 1. No toilet paper, anywhere!! 2. No beach, it was washed out 3. Ran out of beer 4. Ran out of wine 5. There was no toilet paper!! Wtf Oh and I got shook down and got the police and immigration called on myself, gf, and 70YO father!! Crazy!! Go anywhere but this place!! Grand Memories Santa Maria: SANCTUARY!!

Food was so bad, we got sick while there. Even though we had done the DUKORAL treatment beforehand, we still got very sick. Mornings only ate fresh eggs made on the grill. French toast was OK DON'T EAT THE OMLETTES, THEY ARE MIXED WITH SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE YOU SICK. Also, be careful at the lunch grills by the pool and beach. Some made us sick. Suppers we had in the SELECTION restaurant were good, and [... read more] if they weren't they replaced them with something. We stayed with the freshly grilled meat and fish as we knew it was real. WHITE RICE is always a safe bet. I stuck mostly with ice cream and fresh fruit for desserts. We were lucky as our room was great. Our butlers RUDY and JAVIER were wonderful! They met our every need and were always honest with us. We went to the GRAND MEMORIES a couple of times, (mainly for the PIZZERIA, which again is something fresh), but stayed mostly at the SANCTUARY because the pool, rooms, buffet, main hall and beach are all so close. One big complaint we have is in each buffet, they have these carts that carry all the dishes and utensils and as they roll them on the floor, they make SO MUCH NOISE, YOU CAN'T EVEN HEAR YOURSELF BREATH!! It is impossible to just sit and take in the view with so much NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND!! This is easily fixed by changing the wheels to those DAM CARTS!! All in All, I think we are done with Cuba, unless something changes drastically with the food. We have always loved Cuba and we are sad that it has come to this.

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Excellent resort

Amazing people, the food is good but always the same. The rooms are clean. The restaurants are ok. The beach is Wow! It's old but so welcoming. The drinks are amazing and the entertainment are goods. I really like my trip there

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Memories Caribe Jan 31- Feb 7

This was our second visit to this resort. Our first time was 7 years ago. Obviously because of Covid and supply issues the hotel has become dated and some maintenance issues but they are really struggling to keep up. Hot water issues in the rooms seemed to be a problem in some buildings although in our building #20, we always had hot water. The room was clean, towels were changed daily, the king bed was great, bottled water was ample and more if required. The buffet always had something to eat. Meats,cheeses,salads,fruit,chicken,pork,rice,amazing potatoes and deserts that all do taste the same but seems to fix the sweet craving. The pizza at the beach is great, either cheese or ham and cheese. Bites bar and grill has great panini sandwiches and deep fried fries, some kind of a hamburger and hot dogs. Bring your own condiments. Rene at the beach bar is wonderful. Lots of vodka,rum,and beer. We didn’t experience any shortage of drinks. Coffee is the best. Cappuccino and Spanish. The Lobby bar is fantastic for service and courtesy. We tipped with cdn $5’s. They love US dollars as well, so you can tip $1’s. Coin is basically worthless to them. Tip and they will remember you and show you how much they appreciate it. We didn’t do Diamond Club but they had a few perks like top shelf liquors and a breakfast room. We didn’t do any a la carte but people that we socialized with recommended them. We didn’t experience any sand fleas or any issues with flies at the buffet although we noticed a few people were bit on the legs. In my opinion, don’t walk on the grass, stay on the walkways. We made friends that we will communicate with and will plan trips with in the future. To us, this is what our vacation is about. Making friends, a beautiful beach, friendly people and an affordable vacation. We also did an off resort visit to Lennies restaurant, 20 mins away, 70.00$ cdn for 2 seafood dinners and a 2 drinks. 30$ return for the classic cab fare and the cabbie waits for you to take you back. We highly recommend it. It includes a bbq Lobster tail, fish, rice and amazing shrimp. We would recommend Cuba to some of our friends but If your a foodie and are expecting Caribbean top shelf, this isn’t for you. This vacation cost under 1800.00 for 2 out of Halifax. We consider we got what we paid for and Yes, we will return to this resort later this year.

Grand Memories Holguin: Lovely Hotel

Holguin was experiencing some shortages when we first got there but things did get better. Bring your own toilet paper. Staff is wonderful. Beach is beautiful. However our stay was effected negatively by a drunken man who the admin. staff failed to stop from getting on our return bus. As far as they were concerned he had checked out and they no longer needed to be involved. Putting everyone at risk.

it"s a big hotel with multiple ways to walk, the room is big and acceptable, the employees are helpful with smile, the foods in the restaurants are quantitative but not in majority at our taste;Dishes are missing ingredients to make them better. Sunwing team is very professionnal. the pool and the beach lovely.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Pleasant place to enjoy,,,

The resort was quite a pleasant low key resort and the employees worked very hard to ensure we were taken care of in spite of a few issues... the plumbing issues were a bit of a challenge where a couple of days the water was turned off, not very warm for showers, not much pressure & the toilets were not functioning due to people putting paper in them in spite of the provided garbage receptacles. The restaurants & a la carte dinner were enjoyable & they provided ample local products such as pineapple, watermelon, eggplant & pumpkin prepared in various ways. Given what is available there was more than sufficient variety of food provided at the buffet & hot table options & lots of fresh bread & dinner rolls of various types. The Staff were all very attentive & pleasant at the bars & beach front restaurants. The BEACH is absolutely stunning !!!! With several sand bars & lovely white sand, one could walk & play & enjoy all day!!!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A bit tired.

Nice facility, staff great. Everything needs a coat of paint but that's ok, this is Cuba. Room was nice. They need to get toilet seats to fit the big, square toilets!. Buffet at Sanctuary was small in comparison to Grand Memories, but staying at Sanctuary we had access to both. No bacon or eggs most days, burgers were non-existent. Not many veggies of the type we are used to. The fish was mainly basa and tilapia. We won't touch either after watching W5. More carts are needed around resorts. At [... read more] check-in times they were not available, a problem if you're handicapped. The female entertainment director at Sanctuary was a rude, pushy person, not a credit to the resort. I will elaborate if the resort contacts me. Both of us were sick. Many others also. Not worth the reasonable price if you can't trust the food! No water at the market. How do the restaurant staff wash their hands and dishes? In a bucket !

Memories Cayo Largo: Great resort

The resort itself was very nice. It was clean and well maintained. Not too big and not too busy either. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beach was beautiful especially on the calm days. The water was the most beautiful color of blue and the sand was soft powdery white. The food was basic, which we were prepared for, but also good. We were always able to find something and never went hungry. The staff really take this resort to the next level. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wow… Never coming back to Cuba

Cockroaches, seriously overrun with flies and mosquitoes! Resort in serious need of paint, thorough room cleaning and repair updates! Even the cushions of chairs are deteriorated! Lack of toilet paper, bacon, pop, no eggs, worst burger ever at the Diamond snack bar… might as well be beef jerky… breakfast was the low point but lunches and dinners were adequate! Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Total disappointment

Stayed here from Jan.25th to Feb.1st. Good size room and the maid did a good job cleaning it, except for the AC that was extremely cold (unable to adjust temperature). Pool and grounds looked very clean. Stuff are very friendly..reason why we keep going back to Cuba. Food and drinks are not our primary reason to go to Cuba, but after around 20 visits, this was BY far the worst. No bread the first 3 days, no eggs all week, no wine all week, except for the specialty restaurants,(not Italian). Sanctuary buffet only had very few limited items, you would have to grab the rest from from other buffet. Employes seemed overworked and tired, and most of the time only one waiter working at Sanctuary bar. I was recommended by Tripalcenter to read the warnings about Cuba shortages, but this was way to much. Sanctuary Grand Memories Holguin please don't rate yourselves 5 star.
