Hotel Mojito: good resort if you enjoy peace and quiet

I enjoyed my stay its a great place to relax. Its a huge resort and could easily find a quiet spot all to yourself as this place is catered to mostly older folks the staff is very friendly entertainment here is not the best The cleaning ladies were awesome as the room was always super clean and the service at the buffet is very very slow as it seems that they don't really care for their job as I often had to beg repeatedly for drinks at the table. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Fabulous staff!!

What an amazing 10 days. First I would like to thank our butlers Javier and and another young lady, i cant recall her name. We were in building 59. They were amazing, right there in the morning asking if there was something they could do for us. Set up our room with flowers and a bottle of wine for our anniversary. The beaches were like no other. Baby powder white soft sand. The food was great for Cuba. This was the 9th time in Cuba and this will be our winter retreat. Selectum Family Resort Varadero: Lovely new and clean resort

Beautiful resort except food was not impressive amd the beach was terrible! Nothing but rocks and large hill of sand. Could not even walk on the beach. Very disappointed in that. Service was wonderful.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: AMAZING STAFF, BEAUTIFUL BEACHES

The Sanctuary at the Grand Memories is a great resort. Rooms are clean. Beach is amazing. Food is decent, you have the option of going to the Grand Memories to that buffet. Sandwiches at lunch from the beach and pool grill are good. Entertainment team does a great job performing daily and nightly. All the resort staff are amazing, very friendly and speak English well. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Love Varadero

The night life in Varadero was amazing and the people even more amazing. The weather is April was hot everyday. You dont have to get pesos anymore which made it easy The snack ateas on the strip were a lot of fun to eat at at beer was inexpensive. The Beatles bar is a must to go to fir good rick and roll music.

Playa Vista Azul: Disappointment

The resort grounds were nice and the beaches were beautiful. The rooms were disgusting. The blankets were dirty and smelt. The beach towels were being rationed and when I finally got one, it smelt bad, it had obviously not been washed, just dried after someone else had used it. The service was not good, staff constantly asked for tips.

Melia Internacional: One of the Better Resorts in Varadero

We have been to Cuba almost 20 times and we have stayed at many hotels and casa particulars. We feel we appreciate what a 4 or 5 star hotel in Cuba is compared to elsewhere. There is a difference. If you've never been, expect a different quality of food, due largely to the US embargo. But as far as hotels in the area goes, this place is probably one of the better ones. Service was good and overall the hotel was clean. Sensum restaurant was one of the better restaurants for our liking. Overall th [... read more]e vast majority of the staff were very friendly and accomodating. We stayed in the Level which is a slight notch above regular and it comes with a few perks such as access to a slightly quieter area of the beach, a concierge and a few lounges and restaurants. The Level loung is a nice spot for a quick drink or snacks. Two negatives. There is an outdoor restaurant for the Level patrons for breakfast and lunch named Criollo. Although the food and coffee was great, it was the only area that we found the staff to be unfriendly, even grumpy. And, secondly if your room faces the ocean view of the beach it is a spectacular view; however, you will hear loud bar music until about 1am. We like to try new places, but we would not hestitate to go back to the Melia International.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Perfect location

Really enjoyed the hotel. Staff at front desk was very helpful and efficient. The food was OK considering post pandemic situation. Some rooms were better than others, staff did their best with available supplies. Loved all the staff because of their easy going attitudes. Had a wonderful vacation with my friends...would go back anytime.

Playa Vista Azul: Best resort in Cuba

This is our second stay at Playa Vista Azul. The staff are amazing, the service is top notch! The food is the best in Cuba. There are 2 beautiful beaches. Highly recommend upgrading to privilege you get premium alcohol selection with your own beautiful bar pool side. Better food choices aswell. The resort is very close to Varadero town too. The only con I would say is the beds are on the harder side but after a day of sun and beach we crashed pretty easily.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Quiet and Relaxing Resort

We stayed at the Angsana Cayo Santa Maria from March 31st, 2023 to April 7th, 2023. Pros - Small compact resort that provided a quiet and relaxing environment. Beach was perfect, lots of palapas and shaded areas as well with not too much of the "towel game" Refreshments were ample and generous from the respective bars. Rooms were kept clean although there was a shortage of bathroom linens. There did not seem to be any COVID protocols in place but signage was evident throughout the resort.  [... read more] 24 hour pool bar/kitchen was greatly appreciated. Staff was phenomenal, easily approachable and were attentive to questions or concerns of guests. The Gourmet a la carte restaurant was the best spot to eat Cons - Pool area needs more umbrellas for shade. A large section of the pool area was not used as there was no shade from the sun. For 4 of our days there, the resort experienced domestic water shortages (no running water) for periods of up to 4 hours each day and at different times of the day. Could watch the water being trucked in bulk delivery. We thought it may have been all the resorts but after speaking to other people from other resorts on the bus ride back to the airport, they did not have this problem. It was only after the fourth day they advised guests of the ongoing issue. WIFI worked well in the main building but was non-existent in the Cabanas where we stayed. We understood there was supply chain issues and certain things were hard to come by and we know from previous experience of the food quality at Cuba resorts compared to others, however, there was no attempt to use the items on hand and change the presentation or preparation to give an experience of different food options. We did not enjoy the "International" a la carte restaurant and actually canceled our second reservation we had arranged. Overall - it is Cuba, we knew what we were getting into and understand a lot of things are out of the control of the resort. We enjoyed the fact this was a small adults only resort that was quiet and allowed to unwind and relax. Ultimately we were there for that purpose, get some vitamin D and some libations while sitting on the beach which we accomplished. Maybe once the supply chain issues get resolved or improve we may consider a return visit.

Sol Palmeras: Not the best resort

Food was not to good hard to eat the meat if you don’t get to the buffet right away all the meat is gone. Pretty much every employee was friendly and really got along with. The beach is absolutely gorgeous more then enough room pool has comfy beds

Playa Vista Azul: So, so

The Azul Vista was a moderate resort. Quite large but needs updating. The very large jacuzzi isn't hot water and not all the jets work. The large swimming pool had a fantastic waterfall but again it doesn't work. It's a kid friendly resort but has no activities for the wee ones. The food at the one Ala carte we went to (Italian) was yummy. The buffet was always plentiful, hot and had many choices. Our room area was large as was our shower. Your ac is controlled by a thermostat that shuts off whe [... read more]never you open your patio door, so always remember to close the door. There is no phone in the rooms, something we found odd. The staff are helpful and courteous. The WIFI was frustrating. It shut off constantly and at times it had to be reconnected by going to the front desk. The sunsets were breath taking. We had 10 glorious days of nothing but sunshine and come dusk the sun sets on the ocean. Just stunning. We took a tour in a classic car with an English speaking tour guide to Havana. I highly recommend taking a day and doing this. We've been many, many times to Havana and no matter how many times we go, we always fall in love again with this historic city.

Roc Barlovento: Alright resort

This resort was tired, like most hotels I have been told in Cuba. Room was clean, beds comfortable but we had a gross, moldy shower curtain. The toilet wouldn't always flush so we had to open the back to pull the chain. The balcony (romeo and juliet style) so no sitting out there. Public washrooms most days no soap to wash hands except in lobby. The restaurant staff were very nice but can't say all bartenders were. Bellhop workers very nice and helpful. Playa Vista Azul: Needs some updating

The hotel was filled with children. Many were very well behaved. Congrats to those parents however the resort might want to adapt to entertain the kids more. There is honestly nothing for them to do except play in the pool. The beaches aren't the nicest. Too much coral and shells. There are 2 beaches. A smaller and larger one. We didn't like either. Th [... read more]e smaller beach has a bathroom, buffet (very small) and bar. The beach is slanted so your beach chair is always leaning. Not comfy. The sun sets on the beach and is quite spectacular. We had no rain any of the 10 days. The food was pretty good for Cuba. Lots of varieties. The al carte (Italian) was the only one we went to and it was yummy. The bedrooms are lovely. Very large shower, great water pressure and temperature. Your ac is controlled by a thermostat that shuts off whenever you open your patio doors. So remember to always close your door. We booked bungalow 7 and it was close to the buffet and the pool. It's a great set up. All in all it's a resort with possibilities but needs to be fixed and updated. There is a very large jazzuci but the pool people need to turn it on and they need to be reminded..daily!! The jets don't all work and it's not hot water. Also the pool has a fantastic waterfall that again is broken and never worked.

Don Lino Hotel: Loved my trip.

I have never stayed at such a quaint, real Cuban style resort. I was immensely impressed with my room, the food and friendly staff. The beach was not what I am used to but only moments are two others. I had the best time ever at what is considered a 2.5 resort.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Beautiful Beach. Resort too small for the amount of people that they have in that section

Staff amazing ! But this can be said about every Resort in Cuba. been to Cuba at least 12 times (different resort each time), so we have some experience on this. The Sanctuary section of the resort is too small for the amount of people they expect to use it. 1 small main building with not a lot of seating. They have roughly 10 pool side cabana's for people to use . If you are not up by 6am to "save" one you are not getting one. The beach is gorgeous. Again, the same issue with the beach. People  [... read more]start going down around 5am to save chairs under the cabana's. by 730am they are all gone. If you don't mind walking you can find a cabana further down the beach on one of the other 2 memories properties you have access with Sanctuary pass. You will NEVER go hungry or thirsty. They may have some shortages, but they always make due. Never an issues for us. We enjoyed walking everywhere. They do have carts that can take you, but used that time as some exercise. The little market is just a short 10 minutes down the main path. Japanese restaurant is a definite visit when your there. We will not be back just for the fact we both enjoy smaller resorts and the issue with finding a cabana was too much of an ordeal.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Will never go there anymore ,very disappointed

There was a lot of flies all over the buffet over the food seen some cockroaches around the food, had flies in my coffee, in my pasta, the food was not good at all, lots of mosquitoes,I have mosquitoes bite all over , the same with my family , we were 7 adults and 4 children ,the only good thing was the beach and entertainment.I don’t advise anyone to go to this resort. We were very disappointed.

Sol Palmeras: Fantastic family-oriented resort

Re our stay at Sol Palmeras, Apr1 to 8, 2023: My husband, my adult son and I spent a wonderful week at this resort, in one of the convenient bungalows. We have very little to complain about this trip! Staff were friendly and helpful. Most exceptional was the fact that none of the staff harassed us for any money or gifts, which was the case in other resorts. We gave candies to those who served us at the bars and buffet tables. Most were overjoyed to receive this small token of gratitude. We br [... read more]ought with us a few more substantial gifts such as baseball caps (some with logos) or beer can holders and special spice containers, for example, which we gave when extra credit was due. For our maid, we brought a pair of shoes which, miraculously, fit her to a tee! Also, we gave her some hair bands and various lotions, lip balm and lavender spritzer & more. She was so grateful! The bungalow was extremely clean. Linens & towels were changed daily. Huge bottles of clean, pure water were distributed daily, often two at a time. Food at the buffets was plentiful: lots of variety in vegetables (eg pumpkin squash, brussel sprouts), rice and bean dishes, plenty of cheeses (eg blue cheese) and deli meats, lots of freshly baked pizzas at lunch & supper, great assortments of desserts (plus plenty of chocolate & strawberry ice cream & more), various juices and breads. Also, plenty of fresh fruit such as guava, papaya & watermelon presented at nearly every meal, also fresh greens and tomatoes, for supper and lunch. Once, there was smoked salmon served, but that went quick! We only went to one A la Carte restaurant (Chinese, which was ok BTW), as we really enjoyed the buffet food... The coffee was delectable, although only served at breakfast. However, we could get iced coffee at the lounge bar any time of the day... The pool was lovely, but a bit too warm by late afternoon. Lots of water activities (eg aquacises or water sports). My husband was allowed to have his daily swim prior to 9AM which was a real bonus for him and the water was much cooler at 7:30 AM, making his swim so.much more enjoyable. We also enjoyed the fabulous beach and jumped in the huge waves a few times - lots of fun! In addition, we met lovely people from around the world. We did not go on any excursion, didn't feel we needed to as we really needed a restful vacation. Night entertainment was varied, although not 'on a grand scale'. We attended one of the nightly beach parties where several people did some line-dancing - that was fun! There also was a wonderful outdoor buffet on one of the days we were there, lots of chicken and various meats plus calamari, fresh greens etc, all the while being entertained by dancers and Caribbean music. In short, we had a great time!

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful experience!

The workers are welcoming and kind. The beach is amazing! The resort's architecture is simple. Love the unlimited services, worth the price. Schedule is on point. Stable/hot weather. Resort room was well maintain, simple and beautiful. A la carte services was good. Grateful for the food they served a had. Mosquitos was a bit of a downfall.

Grand Memories Holguin: Grand Memories - Holguin Cuba: April 2-9

Grand Memories \ Holguin. Date: Sunday April 2 – Sunday April 9 Departure Time: Sunwing original 6:15am. Later received confirmation flight departure to 7:55am. Actual Departure Time: another delay 8:45am (unknown reason) No problem with flight. Customs \ Immigration at Holguin – Cuba : No Problem. Boarded Bus: A very long bus ride to hotel, note to those who may be of interest 2hours. Since departure flight was delayed, the arrival was late at the hotel we missed the lunch and buffe [... read more]t was closed. Suggestion go to Snack Bar. There were 2 busses of tourist now going to the Snack Bar for food \ drinks. Imagine the nightmare with only 2 persons behind the bar. Everybody is thirsty and hungry screaming for service. This part could have been handled a little better, knowing the flight was delayed passengers would be hungry \ thirsty. I left my luggage at the front of hotel and returned after my Snack Bar Lunch. Check in was slow but moving along. The room excellent in size and décor, no problem on second floor facing Pool. Room had a small fridge, empty, no water, no drinks. Seems no longer stocked with water \ beer \ pop. Had to wait until next day to get Bottle of water, no problem. Was able to get water from bars. Dinner at Buffet no problem finding table space, very clean, excellent. Had salad, soup, chicken, desert, beer all good, excellent. Excellent service, plenty of staff to offer help at table and behind kitchen counter. Breakfast Interesting Note: one of the grills has a young lady who sings during her cooking….I waited in line just to hear the show and wake up to the busy morning, excellent. Buffet table has a lot of items to choose, no problem with salads plenty of items to select with green leaves. Desert Table: Plenty of fruit, sweets…excellent with ice cream. To families with small children: very disappointing to see had parents do not manage the kids and leave them alone to go to the desert table alone. Kids are kids fully blame the parents, kids touch the plates and items with there hands and this has to stop. Ice cream was wasted and dropped because the child could not reach the spoon and tub and hold the plate. Do you do this at home, waste a lot of food, shame on you, you may be on holiday but have respect for others who are there on vacation also and hotel expenses. My suggestion for families with children under 10 years charge double the rate. Next day I began my hotel grounds walk. Note: This is a very large hotel, for those of interest walking may be of interest. Counted 7 pools, 3 in the middle partitioned and 2 on each side. Plenty of chairs, huts no problem, has 2 life guards excellent service, pool bar located in middle pool able to get service no both sides in pool and out. Beach groomed everyday by a team of 20 workers every morning…excellent. Plenty of chairs on the beach. Sand is course with shells but clean. If this is a problem, put on foot gear. One section of the hotel is reserved for Sanctuary clients. The buildings are labelled A, B, C on the map etc. Note: there is no label on the outside of the building property to inform you where you are. This is very very confusing. The next problem that makes this worse is the buildings are joined together and some are 5, 4, 3 floors, you have no clear idea where you are. Took me 2 days to get the layout of the land, relation to middle pool, lobby, my building and surrounding services. The Hotel is excellent, brand new opened last year, the rooms are excellent. Room: AC worked no problem, water pressure no problem, toilet no problem, very large king size bed…excellent. The staff will do everything to help you, make your stay 110% satisfied…excellent. This is a hotel in its infant stage, 75% of the staff is young students and I don’t believe they have the experience to manage this hotel when it goes full production. Experience takes time and with young new staff it will be a learning curve. The management team has a lot of work in front to make this happen. Time wise this is off – season, come late fall winter December the hotel will need all the staff to be up and ready to run. Did not do any tours excursions but Sunwing has reps on -site to help. The Lobby bar was slow with 2 reps behind and 20 customers waiting for drinks, but plenty of floor walkers to take your order, excellent. Weather was excellent, sunny plus 30 everyday. After lunch the pool water was warm. On vacation do not stress, easy going, yes there are some areas that need to be improved. Return Flight: now this is a stressful with Sunwing. Departure Time: original 1:05pm, received delay message to 3:00pm, boarded at 4pm, plane took off at almost 5pm Arrived Toronto at 9pm. Overall: a an excellent hotel to consider for your vacation.
