Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: beautiful beach & beautiful Cuban people.
Over all a very good vacation. Rooms were clean and staff were very nice. By Cuban standards food was also very good. We were there with our 11 year old boy. the resort could be a little more attentive to children. Plan more activities. Took a Catamaran excursion and for the most part, seemed to be focussed on drinking booze. Not recommended with kids.
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Melia cayo santa maria
Nice place needs a bit of maintaining but still beautiful I would go back again hopefully next year Pool staff are excellent Rooms were clean fridge stocked daily Food wasn't bad in the buffet but a L A carte need some work
Playa Cayo Santa Maria: great place!!
Bar tenders and waiters/waitresses were very attentive. Food was great. Entertainment staff were fun...this resort is an overall great trip!! more than half the people we met were returning guests and we can definitely see why...we would return.
Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Incredible beach!
The hotel was quite satisfactory with comfortable rooms, good food options, nice pool and decent service overall except at the beach bar sometimes. Buffet was actually really good on NYE. Not well lit and no signage but the beach makes up for it.
Melia Las Dunas: Good visit
The hotel was good. Be aware of tipping as you always do not necessarily take pesos in the pool or beach area. We had a few bad service near the lobby and we informed the guest services area and observed improvement in service the Next day. Overall, local people were very nice and friendly. Great hospitality services. Enjoyed the trip. The Trip Central Personnel was amazing and helped me a lot. The price on website is sometimes dated and I guess trip central should resort to modern price update [... read more]
Valentin Perla Blanca: Very nice resort
Overall the grounds, beach, staff were very nice and accommodating. What was disappointing was the A la carte restaurant some items were not available and some came from the buffet. The beach was not too crowded which made it very nice.
Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Friendliest resort in Cuba?
All food service, housekeeping, beach, gardening, etc. staff greeted us with eye contact and a cheerful "Ola" [Hello] every day; definitely the friendliest of our five Cuban resorts and all without the expectation of a tip (although one was never refused). Spacious room/suite, two imaginative swimming pool complexes, attractive grounds, excellent food & beverage service. Acceptable food. Dim walkway lighting (~25% of bulbs non-functional). Remember that mid-January is "no-see-um" season along th [... read more]
Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Not there for the facility, the staff tried hard
The weather, Ocean and beach were wonderful. We don't go to Sol Cayo Santa Maria for the facility and it's comfort. The food was OK and the staff were great. The entertainment was good. The facility is not well maintained with many obvious weaknesses. Repairs are being done poorly. They made an attempt to deal with the "no see ums" (biting fly's) but with little success. Those almost ruined our trip. There were very few supplies or practical items at the gift shop.. mostly gift items and drinks.
Memories Paraiso: Ok if you get a low price
This is a good place to go to but only if you get a really good price. The beach is sensational and the pools are nice. For everything else it's average. Overall, the resort is understaff so it affects the service. The food is just ok and the variety at the buffet is poor. A lot of the times, the activities that are sceduled at the beach or at the pool dont even take place (and animators dont even show up to let you know...) The rooms are outdated but clean.
Resonance Blu Santa Maria: A really lovely resort and the beach is the best.
The gardens are impeccable, food in the main dinning-room excellent as is the service. The Sports Bar excellent service and great food. Service and music in the main lobby very good as are the servers. One point of concern is the washrooms in the Theatre and main lobby are unacceptable in any persons rating. Toilets were broken and at times the Theatre was closed off for using the washrooms and the main lobby water leaked all over the floor and most times out of two weeks 2 or 3 were working som [... read more]
Valentin Perla Blanca: Clean Resort!
The beaches are breath-taking. By far the best beaches in Cuba are in Santa Maria because of it's clear waters and white powder sand. The food was a 7/10. The seafood (shrimp) and waffles were delicious. The snack bar is open 24/7 and has the best beef sandwiches and banana chips. The rooms were absolutely clean. It looked like something pulled out of an IKEA catalogue. I recommend getting the balcony view of the pools. It's a walk in bathroom and the shower head water comes out of the ceiling [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Not a 4 star hotel
First time writing a negative review and I am doing it to warn people before they book this resort. Poor customer sevice, barely a beach, never any pool towels available, shortage of food, cups, towels and food. This hotel cannot accomodate the 1800 people that stay there. The maids just fluffed out and rehung dirty shower towels because they didnt have any to replace them. They never had any of the foods listed on the menu. The buffett was terrible and had the same food for lunch and dinner eve [... read more]
Memories Paraiso: Great resort with a little improvement
Memories has so much potential to be a great resort. The rooms, common areas, pools and beach were all very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful but I found that it could use some overall management improvements. We seemed to have to wait for every meal as they were never open on time. This meant that everyone would barge in at the same time and be rushing around for food and often, there would not be any of what you wanted by the time you got to it. Their little food stations tende [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Too many issues
Customer service was poor, never any clean pool towels, cold shower water, broken safe, dirty plates/cups, always out of food (garlic, onion, peppers, beef, bacon) the maids fluffed out and hung dirty shower towels instead of replacing them saying they didnt have new ones to give. The bed springs/coils were almost through the mattress. The resort is huge and only had two carts drivig around to pick people up and with 1800 people on the resort was never available so elderly people or people with [... read more]
Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Resort very impressive
Grounds excellent, lobbies excellent, food not bad the room service like cleaning terrible very bad experience.Very nice people around .Very friendly special the people working in the grounds. Not well organize even to get the beach towels was a nightmare. I have bee in Cuba twice before and the experience this time it is not to go back.
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort
Nice hotel, spacious, comfortable rooms, resort easy to get around, nice pool, amazing beach, friendly staff. There is room for improvement Check in took 3 hours, room was not ready Service at beach restaurant was hectiqc But I still think it is one of the best hotels on Cayo Santa Maria, would recommend it to friends.
Melia Las Dunas: horrible
The hotel grounds was very beautiful... but the service was horrible... when i got to the resort to check in...they told me i wasent in their system....and they werent givinf me a room... finaly after arueing.. for over two hours they finaly gave me a room.......they never had any clean towels.. would put one small towel for two people in a room...there was no hot water running... to take a shower in my own room.. Melia Las Dunas: Very bad resort
Hotel was horrible staff was horrible very bad experience will never go there again. If you do end up going to the hotel make sure you bring a lot of towels because they never have towels on hand. If you don't mind bad customer service go to this place
Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing Resort
The staff were friendly and eager to make our stay as wonderful as possible. The grounds were very well maintained. Our room was large and very tastefully decorated. The food was good for Cuba. The resort is two hours away from the airport but the drive goes quickly! I will always book with TRIPCENTRAL - the agents go above and beyond!
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Loved our holiday.
Grounds are very well kept. Always able to get a chair at the pool and beach. Staff is wonderful. Rooms were a little disappointing. Ours smelled of mould, bathroom door in rough shape. Food and restaurants were great.
