Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Good resort, could use improvement.
Overall its a good resort, big and well set up rooms. Washrooms were great including jet tub. Friendly and polite stuff. Buffet, although somewhat repetitive but with a decent variety of choices to accommodate different tastes. As it was Jamaica, we were expecting a bit more of a local flavor to be included in the cuisine. Had to go outside of the resort to experience the famous Jamaican jerk chicken.
The resort has many ala cart restaurants however, even though we visited only 3 out of 5 (4 ope[... read more]rational at the time of our visit) the only decent place with some sorts of flavor was the Don Pablo restaurant. The Picasso served uncooked fish, and meat. The Mikado (sorry if misspelled) was a poor excuse for a Japanese food/sushi place. If u still desire to eat at Mikado, when booking it tell the person at the desk to get your meal with the show. We didn't, but it looked like a fun presentation for others. Not sure if they were fed the same food as us also. The pool was shallow, but big with two pool bars. Good white send beach with Cristal clear turquoise water with very Minor waves and sea wheats. Not sure why but located to the side of the humongous hotel, so if you are a preferred costumer (the organization has this aggressive marketing scheme where, what looks like hotel stuff, under wrong pretences including lying, are trying to sell some sort of time share.) So for the few suckers or maybe not :) who bought in to it, the hotel houses those people at the other end of the hotel where the construction is going on 24/7 and at the furtherest point away from the beach. However, from what i have seen the lucky bunch gets to enjoy premium alcoholic drinks. And drinks if you wish to have to be premium, they are expensive! A half bottle of Hennessey VS is $100 usd at the store. Their export Appleton Rum, is about 30% cheaper here in Canada, where the liquor gets taxed like there is no tomorrow in some instances costing twice if not trice of what our American friends pay. So I'm a bit puzzled. Anyhow, i did find a way to the premium liquor cabinet and drunk about $200 worth of good drinks for about $15. Now to not some fun stuff:
Even though, the hotel is fairly new, the constriction integrity is not holding up. While on our trip, a partial collapse of an eaves trough on the top of the 5th floor came crushing down through the roof onto a very busy pas sway below where majority of people walk to get to the buffet or washrooms. I'm glad and surprised how no one got killed by 50 lb concrete blocks falling from the above.
That experience kind of masks the leaky ceiling that was flooding our room for the last two nights that we stayed there. The issue was addressed and fixed the first evening when that happened. On the second one we were offered to move, but it was too late as we had our plane back in the morning, so we just stayed in a flooded room.
Be careful with excursions, even though i purchased ours through the representative who worked with our tour operator (more expensive) we were mislead to believe that the the Chukka Catamaran/Dunn's River Falls climb was all inclusive and was a 9/10 or a 10/10 excursion.
They refused to serve alcoholic aperitifs on the way up, sighting they were doing us a favor by protecting us from getting sick. Although, i can see they would rather not see a bunch of drunks climbing the falls, we did sign a liability waver, and a seasoned trooper like me could have been more prepared for the adventure had i known earlier. Had to pay for drinks at a lunch stop also. The Dunn's River Falls climb was an awesome experience though. But id recommend to take a $40 bus and Dunn's river falls climb cruise instead of the sailless sail boat for a $100. Just saying. After collecting almost $4000 in sales, the least they could do is provide a better variety of drinks besides, orange juice, (beer and the cheapest white rum on the way back)
Bob Marley excursion was okay. If you like to toke this is the excursion for you. If you dint ud might feel out of place and possibly get high on fumes lol. I'm personally neither. I dint smoke nor have anything against it. So it was an enjoyable experience. WestJet so far is one of my favorite tour operators. The website and app could use improvement though. For the life of me i could not retrieve my lost password which required for me to have at least one capital letter, one number, and one special symbol. High 5 for the security attempt. -1 for neither site/app works properly when retrieval attempt is made. Oh and no Internet availability on the flight back. :p
So, overall it was a great time, with minor scuffs here and there...

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: Good atmosphere
Hotel was clean and if anything needed to be done it was quickly taken care of. The grounds were well kept and management was very attentive. I definitely think it's time to offer free WiFi to customers and that will be a deal breaker for me next time. I really felt good about the grounds security.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Amazing Vacation, Amazing Resort!
We stayed at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in September and we absolutely loved this resort! Check in was a breeze and because the resort was not really busy, they upgraded us to ocean view. The room was spacious, clean and super nice. Because it was low season, not all the restaurants were open but they did have the a la cartes open and 1 buffet. The food was always hot and fresh and so tasty! The food is exceptional. I would only request that there be more Jamaican food next time but they did hav[... read more]e a corner in the buffet with it. Believe it or not, the wines are very very nice. I've always hated resort wine but nothing to complain about here. The grounds are gorgeous and the pool was beautiful. The beach was great but be careful when you first walk into the ocean, there are many rocks but once you pass them it's clear. The resort staff was nothing short of exceptional. They were so nice and friendly and always remembered your name. always so warm and happy. The weather was beautiful everyday. They had a beach party which was really fun too. I believe they have one once a week. We loved this resort and can't wait to go back!!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Very nice Resort !
The Resort was well maintained, healthy trees and nice flowers. Very nice!
-Ground-
The Luxury and the Grand are one, in same building one Resort. In web selection they were two. And, that was not easy for us want to get off when the bus arrived to the site we didn't see the Luxury but saw the Grand ... at the gate. ha! ha!
Site Construction- The noise/dirt were quit reasonable and acceptable. No loud noise.
People seemed to have a good time at the Pool end that's close to the fencing side of [... read more]the construction site.
Room- We first stayed in the Luxury section Room 23118, main floor, nearby the fence of the construction site. It was nice but bore in viewing, plus few other issues in the room . We then moved to 18122, the 1800 Block of the Grand section. The room we moved to was better than the one in the Luxury Section. It's near by the beach, more trees to see and people walked by. Happy!
Food- Food was fine, not bad. We had "a la cart" 4 pre-booked but used only two at Picasso and the Italian. The Orchids Buffet was the one we used most. It was good, best fruits and salad and lots of selections.
Staff- The Staff were nice, friendly but very slow in servicing ever !!! at the Luxury section reception.
Night Shows- So so, not as good as many other resorts we have been.
Pool- One main, long, around and at the back of main building. Looks nice, attract, lots of people. We're rarely in the pools, only beaches when in resorts. Not sure how good it was and so the drinks.
Beach- It was so beautiful, lovely. Not far away as some people said. Water was nice and warm.
Beach always is the first choice for us when on vacation. We were there most of our time and enjoyed it a lots !
Overall, Luxury/Grand Bahia Principe Resort is a beautiful one but may not a 5* till the construction is completed and the Staff has to speed up in service a bit more.
We love the Resort, the People, and the Country, and will come back at least one more for sure.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Couples Negril. Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Enjoyable trip
Jewel Runaway was great!
In summary: the hotel is a good 4 star in my opinion and is generally very children and family oriented. the food is great, lots to do for children and the staff are AMAZING!! Altogether we had a great time! And might go back!
Now on to the details!
1. Ride from the airport to the hotel: about 80 min - which the driver made it interesting for us by pointing out interesting sites on the way (and even stopping for people to take pictures)! He also talked about history, ge[... read more]ography and anthropology of Jamaica that (if accurate) was very interesting and good to know! So at the end, most of us really enjoyed the ride (more like tour bus!).
2. Arriving at the hotel:
Upon arrival, the hotel seemed very small and dark and nothing like hotels I have seen in DR, Cuba or Costa Rica. There was no "Welcome drink" or welcome anything! No one was there to guide us to where we needed to go.
3. Checking in: the process was very simple, easy and quick. Unfortunately, the flight was not timed well with the hotel check-in time!!! We arrived I think around 11 or so, and the check-in was at 3! That was not good especially since all of us were up early in the morning for our 6 am flight! I was dying, so my husband kept asking if the room was ready and eventually at about 1:30 they gave us a room which was nice of them!
4. The room:
it was nice, clean and comfortable! The minibar has only water and pop and no alcoholic drinks...we were happy with the contents!
5. food:
The food at the main buffet is good. I eat most kinds of food, and I could almost always find things that I liked. they always had Jamaican food, which was amazing! I loved jerk chicken and even bought the spice to make it at home!! :)
The a la cart restaurant were all "fantastic". the food tasted soooo good that i often ordered 2 plates just for me! the best restaurant in my opinion was Platinum. they had AMAZING tasting dishes, with fabulous designs and super nice staff! we ended up having dinner and breakfast there I think 5 days!! too bad they were closed for lunch!
6. pools
there are 2 main pools and a little pool with the swim-up bar.
deep pool - was nice with the deep area clearly marked. They could have tried to keep it a little cleaner.
Small pool, good enough i guess for people with small children
Pool with a swim-up bar: good, but usually not staffed and we had to wait for some time or go out for a drink!
7. Bars:
Drinks were great! there were quite a few and any where in the resort you were close enough to a bar to get a nice drink.
8. Entertainment and activities:
Well, we only stayed twice for the evening entertainment and it was really worth staying up for. the talent show was interesting!
I think the entertainment group could have tried to engage the guests a little more. for example, a lot of resorts have the entertainment team going around in the pool and start various games, like pool volleyball, etc. but the team at Jewel, wasnt really active in that sense. most i saw was 1 or 2 of the girls asking trivia questions usually around 2-3 and giving jewel dollars to cash in the gift shop. 40,000 Jewel dollar is about 3 dollars at the gift shop!!!!
9. Gift shop:
Don't buy rum there. I bought small bottles of rum cream at the hotel for $5, the exact same bottle was $2.5 at the airport!!
10. Water park:
good and as much fun as the brochure and website say! we enjoyed it!!
11. Staff:
AMAZING!! they are making the difference in this hotel. their general manager, I think Scott Robin, should be commended for the training of the staff and the quality of service the provide. Everywhere in the hotel, staff are nice, smiling, sweet and asking you how they can make your stay nicer! I couldn't ask for nicer staff in a resort!
12. Beach: was nice, quite, soft, sandy....lovely!

Sandals Dunn's River: Great Resort
I had visited this resort before when it was Sandals...not too much has changed, which was nice. Location is good for doing tours (close to Dunns River Falls, etc.) but took 2+ hours to get from airport to hotel (due to multiple stops at different resorts along the way). Only 1 hr 20 mins to get back to airport for return flight. Food was great, buffet, a la carte restaurants and themed group meals were good and gave great variety.
Only complaint was the lack of powerful air conditioning. It ha[... read more]d been mentioned in prior reviews, so we were prepared for it. Not a huge deal, but some days would have liked it cooler.
Overall, a great time, nice and relaxing...which is what we were looking for.

Legends Beach Resort: close to everything, great staff.
My husband and I have been to Negril many times and prefer to stay at hotels on the beach side as opposed to the cliffs and we dont pay all inclusive. This hotel has a restaurant onsite, one small pool on the beach side and one larger pool on the garden side. If you stay on the garden side, there is a staff memeber there to help you cross the road as it can be overwhelming with traffic moving in opposite directions from what you're used to in North America. It was very quiet when we were there f[... read more]or the first 2 weeks in September 2015.
The room is adequate with 2 queen beds and were comfortable. The AC was cold, the shower was HOT and the water pressure was great. There are no safes in the room.
I have nothing bad to say about Legends or their sister resort on the cliffs - which is a must!! Jumping off their wall into the sea is revitalizing. You can use your all inclusive priviledges there as well.
Most of all .... enjoy your stay but don't expect 5 star service. Lay back and relax and go with the flow.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort: Great for couples
Great service, Staff are friendly and they always attend to your needs without any expectation on tip, some even refuse tip. Good selection of alcohol at bar, from remy Martin to Appleton. Food is great, a lot of a la carte options available. Pools could have been cleaner, however the beach is great for Ochi Rios. Quite and not too many people at the property. Most guests, if not all, are couples. Don't expect too much during the night past 11 PM.

Jewel Paradise Cove: Fun & Friendly with a HEAVY DOSE of Bob Marley !!
If you're expecting hoighty toighty, Muffy & Biff ..don't. If you want a Fun, Friendly & Interactive Staff with a HEAVY DOSE of Bob Marley, you will not be disappointed !!
The restaurants are good. Especially the Coral Cafe buffet and the Aquamarine Grill which is open 11p-7am. You can get everything from Jerk Chicken to Burgers, grilled cheese to salads all night with no attitude!!
Be careful on the beach. There are a lot of rocks and seaweed. Do yourself a huge favor. Take a 5 min taxi ride to[... read more] Flavors Beach, no rocks, no seaweed or buoy lines.
The free excursions are smaller scaled versions of the ones you pay a lot for. Example they give you Konoko Falls instead of Dunn River Falls ($75 US/person). It's the same small fishing boat for the Glass Bottom boat & Sunset cruise as well as the snorkeling & diving. The snorkeling and Hobie Cat were awesome & free! The Entertainment are comprised of the staff as the house band and singers. There are local guest Musicians and Dancers each night. If you are expecting a sell out an arena type band you won't. You'll get a local bar band. And you will hear more Bob Marley then you ever believed possible. They are beyond in love with the man.
Even though the resort does things on a smaller scale, the staff make it FUN, they are informative and get you involved. They are friendly and very accommodating. Honestly, they made this a very, very good vacation. Do yourself a favor..GO !!!

Sandals Dunn's River: Great people, nice resort!
Went to Jewels the week of September 13. We found the resort to be well manicured and maintained. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The rooms were well looked after with terrific maid service. The food was was very good and everyday the meals were a little different. We really enjoyed our stay at this resort and certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a good time. Ya mon, no problem!!
