Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Nice family vacation

The food is good, the resort is nice, but the security was not the best and lighting at night is very poor. The staff was great, helpful and extremely friendly! The on sight entertainment is expensive. 30 $ per person for bananboat, 85$ per person to parasail and a 1 hour training to sailboat at 45$ and only one 1 hour ride per day. The star friends are extremely good at engaging everyone and the nightly entertainment is good. Fire show is the best!!! Must go to the Cigar bar and see Kimone, the [... read more] best and most patient bartender! Ask for her special shot....worth the visit even if you don`t smoke!!! She was our groups favourite staff member by far! I have stayed at 3 star resorts to 5 star resorts and expected more from an Iberostar. The facilities did not live up to their reputation. Had electrical issues in all 3 rooms our group had to charge our electronics and had a lot of locals on beach trying to sell you stuff all the time.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Great Vacation!

First of all I must thank Jenn Black from Trip Central for all her help!! She was bang on! This was a beautiful resort. Very helpful and pleasant staff, food was very good! The pool, beach area, grounds were just amazing! Too bad it couldn't be a non smoking resort! We will be back!! Oh and we got engaged while we were there!! SUPER VACATION!!

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Amazing Resort!

This resort is all about service. They go above and beyond from the moment you get there. Our room was nice but did not have much of a view. On day 5 they offered us a ocean front room for the remainder of our stay at no extra cost which was inceredible. We ate at all of the a la cartes and the food was really good. The alcohol is all top of the line stuff and most beer is served in the bottle. The butler service was a nice touch and the concierge is always available to assist with ANY questions [... read more]. The beach is amazing but we spent the majority of our time around the pool. Wi-Fi is strong around the entire hotel. Weather was great all week. Highlights: The golf course is amazing and included with your stay at the Grand. Only cost is club rental. It is also all-inclusive on the course which was great. The spa pool is amazing and there is also a great fitness centre and decongestant steam room which was really nice. A big thanks to all the staff including Fanni and Charley who I enjoyed talking with. The ENTERTAINMENT staff do a amazing job all day trying to keep everyone involved in the activities. If you are asked to fill out a review card make sure you give these guys the best score as possible as they deserve it.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great stay! Jan 18-25

The hotel was fabulous. The rooms were very clean and actually up to date. Staff were fabulous... Good was great (Ya that's right). Beach was beautiful and there was decent snorkelling off the beach and around the Boardwalk. The tide did take a while to go out but worth the wait... Pool was ok but we didn't use it. Nelson in the Buffett was a gem! Lobby bar staff were also fabulous. No complaints with Hotel staff. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Needs some upgrades!!

Great staff, but resort needs to upgrade and pay attention to detail. Lights weren't on , on pathways at night and food was mediocre; some head chefs to monitor what is put out would help. Accommodations were good, but beach area was very narrow and crowded at high tide.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Good Resort

Very clean, spacious rooms, beautiful beaches and pools (two of each, each one busy for families and one quite for adults). Good entertainment. Food is not the best, after a few days I got a little tired of egg omelet every morning and especially the line ups around freshly cooked food, like fish, pasta or fruit shakes...the rest was just not the best...overall good, easy stay...like most the all inclusive ones!

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: GREAT VACATION!!!! worth every penny

We booked at the iberostar suites but to our pleasant surprise, we were upgraded to the GRAND!!! This by far was the best resort experience. The customer service was amazing... The food was AMAZING...the decor and cleanliness was perfect.....the pools, the beach and the spa were beautiful! I enjoyed everything about iberostar grand rose hall...I will refer it to everyone I know and plan on returning to this luxury life!! Special thanks to the staff and to our amazing butlers Tafari and Donovan!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good Resort

The grounds were very well kept; the people were very nice; the beach was good; the food at the buffet was average, not enough variety; and the food at the al a carte was not good at all! Two members of our group were ill.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Fantastic Resort with amazing food and activities!

This is the most modern up-to-date resort I have ever visited...eg. WIFI everywhere - rooms, restaurants, pool areas, all included. Extremely clean and well kept. The pool area is clean with plenty of chairs and shade and the beach also has lots of chairs and umbrellas with help to put them where you wish to sit. Also the beach is clean and we walked and ran it daily (5 k). Many people playing in the waves. The food and service was excellent with various restaurants so never boring. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Overall good vacation for the value

This resort beach front is truly amazing! The beach is absolutely beautiful with soft white sand and turquiose water and the tide goes out daily so you can walk out in the ocean quite a distance and you can go for very long walks on the beach! The food and the room are good not excellenet but you always can find something to eat we had no issues with getting sick and the rooms were clean and we stayed in a renovated room therefore the water pressure was excellent. Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: A nice resort

Hotel room was updated , modern and clean. The specialty restaurants were very very good as opposed to the buffet where the food was more "basic" ie. not a lot of meat and the vegetables didn't really have much flavour (picked too soon ??). And this was expected by my wife and I. Pool , beach were beautiful but the washooms in the pool and beach area were not so nice - urinals overflowing, toilets all wet around them and no toilet seats , toilet paper down to the floor and wet- pretty disgusting [... read more]. The staff were all excellent - friendly and helpful. The entertainment at night was the best we've seen at any resort. Would go back to Cuba but we would try another resort/location. The weather may have tained our review because it wasn't the best -cool and very windy but the weather is the weather -can't do much about it.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: beautiful, quiet and secluded

We were 3 women (late 30's) who left our 3year olds and dad;s behind and stayed for 4 days. We wanted peace and quiet and this resort delivered. We stayed in the adults only spa section. The resort is spread out and is great for people who like to walk. There is always somewhere to go if you want to be alone. the beaches are beautiful although not wide if that's what you're looking for. Mohitos are fantastic as well as the cappachinos. The food is ok. I have gut issues so I mostly subsided on fi [... read more]gs, dates, prunes, raisins, yogurt, smoothies, fresh fish, bread and butter and beets. My friend's ate a little bit more, but we were pretty sick of the food by the 4th day.. but that's not specific to this resort, that's just Cuba. Also there are times when they run out of supplies, you have to be patient and roll with it - maybe there's no new towels for 2 days - chill out and don't get in anyone's face about it. The pillows are quite big, so if you like a thin pillow, bring your own. ( I brought my memory foam camping pillow- it packed up nice and small) The beds are nice and firm. The rooms are great, really big and the bathrooms are pretty swanky. We brought lots of ziploc bags to put dried fruit and pineapple (so good) in for our beach snacks. We saw a woman with a tupperware container, with fruit in it, which was a great idea. the beach snack bar is limited with lots of fried food. Tennis was fun, but they only open at 9am and close at 5pm - it would be better to be open early and late as it is a much cooler time to play. They don't have decaf coffee on the resort, but we brought our own and made it in the coffee maker in the room… you might want to bring a travel mug so you can take it to breakfast. a good resort with beautiful grounds and definately not for partying - the only bar is on the bottom level and in a swamp and has a really strong musty smell. The boardwalk to Megano beachfront he spa section is closed for repairs, but looked like it would be completed soon(ish). I recommend going for no more than 5 days, but spoke to a few people who are repeat visitors and happily stay for 7 days. Also, they have great hot sauce (orange bottle) douse all your food if you're worried about blandness.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: One of the top resorts in Cuba!

We just returned from a week's stay at Iberostar Varadero. We traveled with two boys aged 6 and 9. My wife and I have stayed at a variety of resorts in Jamaica, Mexico & Cuba, including Sandals and Couples resorts. This was our first vacation as a family. My first overall comment was that there was very little or no wait times anywhere on the resort. At the buffets, the lobby, the currency exchange desk, or any bars, our wait time would usually be zero or worst case a minute or two. This means  [... read more]more beach/drinks/pool time! The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and there was always hot water and a fully stocked fridge. The fixtures and furnishings are showing some age, but they worked fine and it was a very nice room. We stayed in block 12, which was far enough from the Disco/Performances so with the fan on we weren't disturbed. We split our time between the beach and the pool. Both were very nice, and never seemed too crowded. We could always find chairs, and lineups at the many bars were usually very short or non-existent. They had roaming serving staff as well and we used them several times when we didn't feel like getting up. The buffet food was decent and offered good variety at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Mediterranean and A-la-carte restaurants were just ok - some of the courses were lacking flavor and some dishes over-cooked. The Japanese was fun, and the meat/seafood that was grilled in front of us was tasty, although a little over-salted. In summary I'd say the resort offered great food relative to other Cuban resorts. A note to folks with allergies: My wife has a gluten allergy and they printed up a letter at check in and shared it with the restaurants. This did help with communication, but in the end it simply meant that most options weren't available to her as they use flour in many dishes and sauces. The kid's club was a lot of fun for my kids. They met other kids their ages, and we were expecting them to dread going but they kept nagging us to take them there, which meant mom and dad had several hours of peace on the beach!!! The staff at the club are very enthusiastic and fun, and my kids spent several hours playing around the pirate ship pool with the tipping bucket. My kids also enjoyed the "kids disco", a little dancing/game playing treat that ran between 8 and 8:45pm. We booked the "swim with the dolphins" experience via our sunwing rep. It was a cool experience, but with the boat/bus journey it took over 4 hrs instead of the 2.5-3 hrs that was advertised. I wish we had booked 9am instead of 11am as it felt like it took the whole day. I snuck away for a round of golf at Varadero Golf Club that I booked via sunwing. A great track with slow greens that does look a little worn in places. However I would highly recommend it - some great holes including the spectacular ocean-side 18th. Lastly - the staff were very nice. The gardeners gave my kids little animals made from plants and my wife some flowers. I asked one of them to make a bouquet for my wife for her Birthday and it was fantastic! The bartenders were great, and we got to know some of the serving staff and had some laughs with them. We tend to be tippers so I'm sure that helped. Note: We can't comment on the performances as we were in bed before they started.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Resort where my dreams came true!

I can' t say enough positive things about this resort. The rooms were ALWAYS up to par, the staff always ready to serve and very friendly, the food and dinning experiences were the best I've ever experienced and being there with the CHFI crew is one I will never forget. The resort was the setting for Ms Erin Davis to make a dream of mine come true. Thank you Air Transat for getting me there and back without a hitch.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: not a 5 star hotel

The toilets in the hotel or around the pools are not clean usually missind soap, the mattresses are very bad and old ,we stayed 36 hours without any towels and every other day we were missing towels.The fridge was supposed to be refurnished every other day but unfortunately it took 12 days,poor service in the buffet restaurant not enough staff to serve you,you have to keep looking for somebody to have your coffee or glass of water. I believe it is a management problem and not the poor employees.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: EXCELLENT RESORT

we stayed at the Grand Village and we had a great time! The villa were clean, the sunset was fantastic. We enjoyed the food and services at the Gourmet Restaurant. The shuttle service to the main lobby was always available and the butlers courteous.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice place

Our first trip to cuba was a good experience! The place was clean. Drinks were cold. Minimal line ups(except for check in-out). Beach was nice. Wasnt hard to find something good to eat. The cab ride to Varadero is 15 peso(20 canadian). Or there is a all day bus for 5$. We did the Havana excursion and it was long but very interesting. We did talk to some return visitors that loved the place.

I will recommend this hotel if they improve the quaility of the food. we had food posining for 2 days while at the resort. The menu never changed for the entire week. Hotel room needs more work too. The mattress needs to be changed.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Returning Guests

Our stay was enjoyable - the gardeners, waiters and waitress were great. It was frustrating at the bar with the bartenders since they expect you to tip them every time to get a drink... Like I can understand daily but they literally don't serve you if you don't have money in your hand. The rooms that were not renovated were pretty bad. The first room they gave us was not cleaned yet and the toilet hadn't been flushed- really gross. Resort staff was constantly trying to sell us uncertified cigars [... read more] which got very annoying. Pool was clean and the gardens were up kept nicely, however there were boards missing from the board walk leading the beach (serious leg breakers) and the beach was literally twice as small since the last time we visited. All in all it was a good trip but I do not think we would come back to this resort again.
