Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful first experience in Mexico

Our stay at the resort was excellent! All of the workers are very friendly and helpful. Best way to get around is by passenger shuttle rather than taxi because it is MUCH cheaper. They are parked on the side of the highway right outside of the resort. Strongly recommend staying away from excursions and planning things out on your own to save a lot of money. Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Beautiful resort

The grounds and public area were absoulty amazing very well kept and clean. The pool area is beautiful but very hard to find a chair as most people head there around 7am and put towels on them before heading to breakfast. The food was amazing.

Unico 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya: Impeccable Resort

This new resort has impeccable food, drinks and service! Plenty of chairs by the pool and by the beach for everyone, event when the resort is full. No problem in finding a spot to relax at any time during the day, however this seems to be a cosistently busy resort with weddings, conferences and vacationers. Restaurant reservations are easily made via the resort app. Beach is small and affected by the carribean seaweed problem, on some days more than others. Resort is a full hour drive away from Cancun Airport.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Beautiful resort and property

Had a fabulous week at Iberostar Paraido Beach. We were in the 4001 building, which was close to the lobby and buffet, however about a 10 minute walk to the beach. Unfortunately you have to be at the beach before 7:00 am to reserve a palapa if you want shade. Carts run after 8:00 am with a typical 10 minute wait. There were alot of families, many with small children, which made for lots of noise at the beach. Was a bit windy which brought in lots of seaweed but they went constant with the [... read more] tractor to try and keep on top of it. Always clean towels at the beach hut, morning and afternoon. The food was excellent. Steakhouse was delicious, and the Mexican and Brazilian were good as well. Rooms were large and spotless. Beware of getting roped into a 2.5 hour presentation in hopes of you buying into their Iberostar hotel for mega $$$. It was very misleading and although we asked several times throughout, no $$ was talked about until the last 10 minutes....the whole thing was a huge waste of time, unless maybe if you travel a dozen or so times a year. Always nice entertainment in the lobby each evening after dinner and the shows were very entertaining. The animation team are very friendly and lots of fun.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Good resort!

It’s great that you have access to two resorts for a variety of pools and restaurants. Buffet menu is almost the same daily even though it features different themes but selections are plentiful so don’t need to eat the same everyday. Unfortunately the beach is awful and full of sea weeds that workers rake endlessly but can’t keep up with so much weed. No room to walk the beach. Resort itself is beautiful.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: FUN , FUN AND MORE FUN!!!

Beautiful grounds, restaurants had delicious food and pools accessible and clean. Rooms were huge and clean!!! Service was *****!!! Only thing I couldn't stand was the beach which was taken over by seaweed and the stench was bad.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Good resort

Resort was huge and food was amazing. The beach wasn’t all the best but majority of the time we were by the Eden pool as well as in our swim up! Didn’t have the best of service during our stay but all in all it was good!! Nice and close to 5th ave and other tourist areas.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Gorgeous resort

First time in Mexico, and I'm so glad I picked this resort. Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Food is delicious. I have zero complaints! Grounds are beautiful and immaculate. Cute little raccoons and lizards everywhere. Loved it and would return over and over !

Grand Sunset Princess: Robbed while sleeping!

To anyone reading this review, DO NOT! I repeat, DO NOT! Stay at this resort unless you don’t care about your safety and personal belongings. On our first night at this resort, April 21, 2019, while we slept, someone entered our room and robbed me. They stole my cellphone that was charging beside my bed, and all the cash from my purse in front of the TV. This could have gone very differently. What if one of us had awaken while the intruder was in our room? I don't even want to think what co [... read more]uld have happened to us! After a night of horror, wherein the security guards turned our room upside down and searched through our bags pretending to investigate the theft, we were further humiliated and insulted by the head concierge (Octavio), who after receiving their security system report, denied the robbery and accused us of not locking our door. This is incomprehensible to me! There is no doubt in our minds that our door was locked contrary to what the resort wants to say. Anyone who knows me will tell you how safety conscious I am, especially in a new place. Also, the stolen items were not locked in the safe because we were in the room! We only lock our stuff in the safe when we are leaving the room (as it should be). To top it all off, we got the run around for days and absolutely no support from the other parties involved, Carlos (supervisor/head of concierge), Andrea (Sunwing rep), Miriam (concierge), and Alexandre (Sunwing rep). They even tried to intimidate and threaten us with eviction from the resort because we stood up to them and advocated for ourselves. If you review the comments posted by past guests to this resort, you will notice a trend with regards to complaints about similar robberies. Yet, Octavio is denying culpability in an effort to cover up a well organized criminal ring operating on his staff. I have no doubt in my mind that this was an inside job!!! Guests are targeted and robbed while they sleep and this has been going on for years! Am I to believe that the resort and Sunwing had no prior knowledge of what has been happening after all the reviews bringing attention to experiences of theft and poor customer service? SUNWING! You need to hold this resort accountable for their criminal actions and stop taking Canadians to this resort to be robbed! What next, rape and murder in your sleep? As a guest, I expect a reasonable level of safety at a resort. Here, I got none. Instead, we were made to look like we were at fault! We were responsible for someone entering our room while we were sleeping and robbing us. How absurd! Up to this day, I have heard nothing from the resort as to what they intend to do to make things right with regards to my stolen items. Neither have I heard from Sunwing! The so called 'process' followed by the Sunwing rep in no way came close to making things right. If you are reading this review, and others like it, and you are planning to visit this resort, Please, DON’T. Be mindful of your safety and do not stay at this resort ever! If you are already at this resort, be sure to note the following: If you bring a complaint and follow up, they will threaten you with eviction. Be sure to barricade your door at night to keep safe. If you have a problem, you cannot have a logical discussion with the front desk staff, security, concierge or Sunwing rep as they are all ill-professional staff. It baffles me that companies that are supposed to be in the service industry could deal with a situation like ours in such a callous, don't care, and unprofessional manner. I will continue to use all outlets available to me to bring awareness to my horrible stay at this resort and my experience as a traveller with Sunwing, until such time that recompense is made.

Hi folks.... I contemplated weather or not to write any review because it feels lousy to have anything bad to say about travelling to a great tropical destination and complaining... If you are on your way to Bahia Coba don't worry your going to have a good time if your there for a good time.. We are a happy bunch and it takes a lot to spoil a day but there were a couple of bumps. - unfortunatly our trusting nature worked against us in the room security.. We hid the key to the safe in a lousy easily accessible spot, easily accessible for anyone looking for it that is...... that cost 90$ U.S. and a bit of a day 2 bummer but ... hey don't blame the hotel for an individuals actions, We have stayed at hotels where you just don't have to watch out like that.... also in Mexico - the main dining area (not the premium lounge buffet breakfast/lunch) service is absent.. you get a well set table and thats it your on your own.. once your done feel free to blend into the flow of people and like it never happened, just go do something else like try to find that drink you were hoping to have with dinner.. it seems the staff are inundated with trying to stay ontop of the ever changing crowd, its all they can do to make up the tables before theres more tables to clear and its forever like this.. the stuff like drink orders and clearing plates or communication are not a part of dining here.. That was lousy. I don't fault the individuals rather lay blame on the hotel for the number of staff tasked to compete with the volume of guests.. - The pools ---- have life guards that circle like hawks making sure kids don't run .. or jump .. or go 2 at a time down the slides... they are on the whistle all day... Honestly this place is sucking the fun out of swimming especially with kids.. loosen up .. we are only here for a good time the lack of service mixed with the pool rules had us feeling as if we were stuck at some lousy camp.... just a buzz kill..... theres good stuff here too::: the grounds are generally clean well kept and beautiful. They do a good job down at the beach with the seaweed.. The food is really yummy... our kids 7 and 4 spent a few hours in the kids club and the staff there are angels.. awesome .. fun and great. it was nice, gave us a chance to have a mom n dad lunch and joke about the service.. Honestly its otherworldly to be in that environment where waiters can just look right thru you and not respond.. just take it as it comes .... I mean the attitude, the drinks aren't coming :) seriously this place makes you feel like its a bad day at the office.. your in a floral T shirt trying to vacation amongst an army of super hard working people struggling thru the day... I can't chill here how about coming back to your room .. everybody sun soaked and pooped can't wait to cool off 4-5 pm the rooms going to be clean right.. nope ... heres an inside tip for parents looking to come here.. We paid 245.00CAD for a family suite upgrade... when reading online it looks like its a great value with a bunch of stuff.. rooms are exactly the same as regular suites, it means your villa is closest to the kids water park.. thats it... nice we only go to 4+ star hotels.. looking for tropical paradise is one thing but feeling welcome for a week is really important to us too... thats not here in the fall we are headed back to the Mayan, Karisma resorts lay waste to any other resorts we have been to hands down.. we travel as a family .. Sensatori and the Fives are bliss.. If you end up here make the best of it... a bad day the the golf course is better then a good day at the office ! Ciao

Well overall it is a nice resort. 5 large pools, night including the swim ups. Food was very good, in all of the restaurants. My biggest complaint, being asked over and over for time share. Also, if you are thinking of a massage, head down to the beach. There are several therapists offering an hour for 20-30 USD., we got shocked in full the spa ($260 USD for a couples massage -80 min.)

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Absolutely amazing resort all around!

From the minute we arrived we were in love with this place. From the entrance to the hospitality the minute you step out of your shuttle this place is top notch. The staff in all areas are incredible and very eager to help with whatever you need. The room was stunning. Highly recommend a swimout suite! They had amazing food both at the restaurants and the buffet. I was never disappointed. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! *****

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great food, surroundings, staff, but not the greatest beach and noisy at night

We were especially pleased with the quality of food available at the buffets and a la carte restaurants even if they did start a bit later than we would normally eat. The desserts were the biggest let down with only a couple that we really liked, but we were satisfied enough with the main buffet options, we didn't feel we were missing anything on the dessert end. Ice cream/ sorbets were excellent though especially when mixed with "irish cream" whiskey. The alcohol selection was very good quality [... read more] name brand selections for most anything you could want. Canned beer & soft drinks restocked daily in the room fridge was well appreciated. We liked to mix our own drinks using the canned pop. There were many places scattered around the resort to stop and pick up a drink or two without waiting in much of a line if any line was there at all. If you want to go to a resort and hang out all day around the pool this would be a good choice, or try and find a lounge chair along the beach if you're lucky. It would be so much easier if resorts simply asked people to not throw a towel on a chair and leave it there for the whole day. You would be hard pressed to find a chair on the beach without a towel on it, but 70% of those chairs had no one sitting on them for hours. And it's not like they were out swimming in the ocean. I rarely saw more than 10 people in the water at any one time. The ocean structure here is far from pleasant to enjoy except for a few small sandy patches off to one side. The staff throughout the resort were excellent, not just the people you deal with, but all the maintenance workers as well keeping the place clean and working. The crew on the beach dealing with the seaweed had the worst job ever that I would never think anyone would sign up for without some sort of mechanical help. As many people have noted in other reviews, the late night noise that filters into your room is more than enough to keep you awake at night until they finally shut off the lounge music at 1:15am. It was as loud as someone standing inside your room talking, and our room was far from where the music was coming from. I had to turn the TV on quite loud just to match the volume of the noise. If you're not a late night party person, don't expect to get an early sleep. It goes on every night of the week. For some people this would be the ideal resort to let loose... if that's not you, be prepared. Perhaps there is a quieter part of the resort you could request to be located in. Our room was on the outside edge facing the "jungle" but that didn't help. The signage around the resort is not overly helpful. None of the restaurants have any sign at all to tell you what they are. You could walk right past the main buffet and not know it is anything at all. The Steak House and Sea Food restaurants are doubled up inside the waterfront buffet at night and again there is no sign at all to tell you they are located there. You just have to ask other guests to direct you. Even the signage for what building you are in, they may tell you that you are in building 7, but when you get to the building there is some other "name" and not a number indicating what building it is.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Incredible Resort!

This hotel blew us away, the grounds, rooms, features, food, ALL spectacular. We visited over Easter so it was certainly very busy and full and a LOT of children. The room was so clean and so new, the housekeeping supplied us with everything we needed and more. My mom loved the food and drink, so happy to see such a range of selection. Will definitely come back to this resort, can't wait!

Kore Tulum Retreat Wellness Resort: Amazing resort!

This resort was different from the usual resort and room service. It combined the gorgeous landscapes with amazing wildlife, Mayan culture and authentic cuisine. The staff were wonderful, very accommodating and helpful. This resort was small but not crowded and full of life. It was a wonderful experience. Just 3km from the main pickup point for excursions, the walk was pleasant and there were options for taxi transport. A great experience for the down to earth traveller who enjoys the quiet life [... read more] and wants a good place to unwind and soak in the cultural experience. This is not a singles party resort full of loud music and dance clubs, rather a resort with local live bands, entertainment, outdoor sports activities, interactive events and mindful relaxation.

This hotel was beautiful! It was huge without feeling overwhelming and the staff were terrific - super friendly and helpful! Beach was awesome and the entertainment was fantastic! Overall, a great vacation!

Rooms are very nice and clean. Would recommend clock radio's in room. If you don't have watch/cell phone there is no way to tell time Huge resort with lots of walking but they do have shuttle that will take you to room/restaurants/beach for those who have difficulty walking (and don't want to burn all those calories from fantastic meals) Did find the reservation process for a la carte restaurants cumbersome and confusing... every time we tried to make reservations at the designated time we  [... read more]were advised to show up, limited capacity/all booked or they would tell us that reservations were to be made at a different time of day. Buffet was great - so we finally gave up trying to book restaurants. Beach and grounds are well maintained.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Superb incredible resort!

Fabulous beautiful perfection! The staff very happy helpful, beautiful grounds very clean and well maintained, rooms exquisite interior absolutely gorgeous. Amazing food so many choices creative displays. Awsome very large pools beautiful views lots and lounge chairs at the pools and beach. Can’t say enough good things about this resort.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Very relaxing!

Just got back from Air Transat trip to Akumal Bay resort and wellness centre. The place was extremely clean and the food was amazing. We stayed on 3rd floor which they call the penthouse with private roof top jaccuzi tub. Two lounge chairs and an umbrella and you got a great quiet place to unwind. Beach was nice but unfortunately it was difficult to go into water as the large amount of kelp/ seaweed floating up on to beach. They work super hard all day cleaning it up but seems like a never end [... read more]ing job. Weather was sunny hot and very windy. One main pool with only sun beds around it chairs all down on beach so we stay alot up on our roof top retreat. There's another smaller pool 4 buildings we were in building three which was perfectly located. I would recommend up grading to the penthouse room . It's a very quiet and relaxing resort . There were lots of weddings. We saw 6 in the one week we were there. They make sure your mini fridge is stocked every day. Quality alcohol. It was a perfect vacation I really needed it! It's a bit of a drive from Cancun airport, a little over an hour. If you like small resorts with really good food and drinks this place would be for you!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Good Resort, Rocky Beach

Overall we had a pleasant stay here. Our room was always clean and it was very comfortable with a good view. The food was really good and the ice cream store on premises is a huge bonus. One down fall was the beach it was very short and rocky in the water.
