Melia Las Dunas: Great vacation.

Excellent resort! This was the first time I have traveled to Cuba. I was pleasantly surprised at how our week played out. The weather was fabulous for the 5 days. Our accommodations were nice and very clean. The beach was outstanding and we never had a problem acquiring chaise lounge chairs. The pools were well maintained, clean and lots of seating. The food was average. Hitel staff were very nice and accommodating. All in all I would rate this resort a 4/5 and consider returning there again.

Sol Cayo Coco: Relaxing

Great beach, dining and staff. Best place in Cuba! Warm weather for December. Little drizzle. Clean hotel rooms. Fun excursions. Crocodile excursion was fun. Went to another beach that was just as nice as ours too.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Always Nice to Go Back!

First time at Royal Service! Is worth it! Service at the Restaurant is impeccable!Food selection will make it difficult to decide what to eat! Nice experience ! Excellent Weather! Room Service was okay the first few days but we were not impressed with the last two days when they did not change the towels or clean the room or refill the coffee and water.That was quite an unpleasant surprise !!!

Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful Resort

Such a beautiful resort, the staff were amazing .. especially Daniel and the food was much better than I imagined. The overall trip exceeded our expectations by far! we will definitely be back again and would highly recommend this resort.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good Resort

The resort looked like it was recently updated. The grounds were well maintained, the rooms were nice, and the restaurants were clean. The pool didn't seem to be cleaned on a regular basis though. Also the public washrooms were hit and miss, often flooded and smelling horrible. Our room had a scenic view of a gravel pit which wasn't great but not the end of the world. The Cuban grill was amazing [... read more] and they even made a cake for our friend as it was his birthday. The buffet food was better than most Cuban resorts. Normally I find the meat fatty and dried out but not here. If was very tender and juicy. The buffet though seemed small for the size of the resort and it always seemed to be packed with people. We found a few times that some items in the hot buffet were stone cold when freshly restocked. As with most Cuban resorts the service was great and the staff are always friendly though they seemed to be short staffed.

Melia Las Dunas: Nice resort

The rooms have gone downhill and smelt very musty and not very clean. Killed a bug the first night I was there and it was still there when I left 10 days later. The food is still very good. The entertainment was not very good like is had been in the past.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: One of the nicest resorts in Cuba

The layout is excellent, the grounds are beautiful, the food is excellent and the people that work there are amazing. We have been there at least 5 times and will continue to go there. The staff are very friendly.

Memories Cayo Largo: Best Resort in Cuba

The resort and beach area are amazing. If you love walking on a beach, this is the place to go - the beach never ends and easy to walk. The room and view from the balcony were wonderful. The restaurants and food selections are the best I have experienced in Cuba, and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this resort for those interested in an adult focused vacation.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort

We enjoyed all aspects of this resort. We chose Cuba for the beaches and were not disappointed. They are beautiful. We could walk for a very long ways. The food was very good at the Buffet and the a la carte restaurant's were special.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: love this resort and the staff make it wonderful, been here three times

no complaints with anything, grounds beautiful, food and staff really good, would stay longer than one week, staff like family, very hard working, rooms spacious, would recommend this resort to everyone

Paradisus Varadero: Amazing Resort

This resort was one of the best we have been at in Cuba. The rooms have been updated and are very clean. We were very pleased with the selection and quality of food. All the staff that we meet were super friendly. We would recommend this resort to families.

Melia Las Antillas: The grounds are amazing!

The best feature of Melia's Las Antillas are outside the hotel itself. A shark pond encircling the pool area is unique, attracting a lot of attention from guests. Little bridges connect all the land areas making for an attractive landscaping feature and good photo opportunities. The beach is good; lots of chairs and palapas, but get there early or they are taken for the day. Most rooms follow a standard layout. They are spacious, but the bathrooms are quite basic. Generally there are signs that maintenance needs to be improved - an elevator long out of service, many missing tiles in the pool, several public toilets plugged. Having said all that, there are many positives. The staff, without exception, were very friendly and helpful. The evening shows, especially the magic acts and the water ballet, are definitely worth seeing. Also, since our flight home was in the evening, we appreciated the no-charge courtesy room available for showering and changing after check-out.

Melia Marina Varadero: I'd go back!

9th trip to Cuba, 2nd trip to Varadero. Overall I would recommend this resort more for families/couples than single people. Originally had booked the apartment all inclusive. Upgraded with ease to "The Level" 6 days @ 265 CUC extra. Made the room closer to all the amenities, access to the 24hr snack bar and restaurant on the 7th floor, unlimited a la cartes (I only made it to the Cuban = was good) and unlimited Internet.  I say unlimited Internet but you just didn't have to pay for the Interne [... read more]t cards that allow you 1hr of use... logging on was still a pain. No fault of the resort as it's all that's permitted in Cuba. People asked if it was worth the upgrade? It really depends on the person... there were no lineups at the level restaurant that was kinda nice... so pros and cons. Overall maintenance of the resort was good... there are constant upgrades being done. The room I had was facing the pool so was kinda nice to see what was going on before heading down. I found the bed was good there were 2 beds in my room so one was used as a staging area. There was no lack of hot water once you figure out what side is hot.... not all the labeling is correct but not a big deal either. The drinks were good & always cold... never watered down like other countries.... never heard anyone ask for a double! I did head down to the beach to take a couple pics but was myself so never went in the water. The beach itself was a course sand not like the white powdery sand I have experienced in other beaches of Cuba. There wasn't a night club or disco on the resort so if you live for that you may be disappointed but can take a short trip to Varadero for the nightclub experience. There's an on site bank to exchange money.... don't take US funds as you will get a very poor exchange rate. Take a travel mug for cold drinks as the pool/beach bars only give you little plastic cups that are about 300ml. So you're constantly asking for another and they don't keep cool. I found that, if you can, take a Bluetooth rechargeable speaker to give away.... I only took a good one, so I didn't want to give it away but will take a cheaper one to give away next time. I was asked by 3 resort workers if i wanted to sell it. USB thumbdrives make good tips too. I found the resort staff to be friendly and very helpful with any issues or concerns. The other guests can really make or break a trip I found. We are all there on vacation, unless you're lucky and we're there work related? I heard lots of complaints from other people comparing Cuba to other countries not effected by the trade embargo. In all honesty, I like Cuba for that fact.... no greasy fast food joints on every corner. I have a lot of respect for these people & how hard they work for few rewards. In the end value for money paid is very good.... I would advise this resort to anyone who needs a break and wants some sun!

Sol Palmeras: Great resort for families with young kids!

This hotel had excellent staff/service, cleanliness, amazing beach, evening shows, and food options - not only by Cuban standards. Travelling with young kids (5 and 2), this resort is highly recommended for young families. Hotel rooms and beds may be dated, but that should not take away from the amazing service and other resort facilities.

Melia Cayo Coco: Lots of construction

Pros:excellent entertainment and Jose gave an excellent massage. Cons: beach was closed for construction for 3 days. So no beach during the day and loud contruction right under our window at night. They offered us shuttle buses to other resorts, but it was still very inconvenient.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beyond my expectations!!

The staff were all very friendly and provided good service. The food was good!! Plenty of choices at the buffet. The grounds were well kept, clean and very nice. The lobby entertainment was enjoyable before the 9pm show and the service was very good. I would recommend this resort to anyone and l am looking forward to going back soon. Oh and of course the beach was awesome!

Hotel Camino del Mar: Excellent Vacation with an Unfortunate End

The resort is smaller than others I have been to in Cuba but that just made it more quaint. The rooms were clean, the staff are all awesome for the most part, the facilities well maintained and the food was very good. I had an accident an hour before the bus came to take us to the airport. The luggage room had a large drop as you walk in with no warning signs. The sun at the end of the day made the glass doors have a glare on them so hard to see. I went to step into the room and dropped a [... read more]nd rolled my ankle. It immediately started to swell and within minutes I could not walk on it. I went to the front desk to report the incident and they sent me to customer service who did not speak English and were of no help. 4 days later I am still limping, swollen and bruised with an x-ray that shows bone flakes. It will be 6 weeks until it is hopefully healed. Airport staff were excellent and had a wheelchair for me upon my arrival and assisted me to the plane when time to board. I bumped into Jorge the Transat rep at the airport among the chaos of check in. I let him know and it seemed an inconvenience to him but he said he would write a report. I'm not sure who I should follow up with on this, but I would like to see them put a warning sign on the door and possibly add another step in so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good resort for price

Rooms were a little old but clean. everything worked .Staff were friendly over all .Grounds were clean although out side light fixture could be fixed. Definite lack of lighting.food was good . I think you have to drop your standards a little. If you are going for food your going for the Wrong reasons. I would think that if you were going for sun and Beach it is Great. Drinks are OK . much better if you can get Premium Liquor . They do drive too quick with golf carts. I think they should offer o [... read more]lder people rides when are going by. Over all I was happy with this resort.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Lovely resort, great staff

The hotel and amenities were fabulous but what made the resort by far are the staff at Pardisus who were always friendly and attentive. Beautiful beach and pool area which were what I wanted for my trip although if you're looking to party a little bit, the average age tilts toward senior. However, a great choice for rest and relaxation

We will be going back! What most people don't really understand, is that they don't have access to everything the world has to offer, the hotel is a little tired, but still very clean, I didn't see a single bug in my room the entire week. The beds and pillows are very comfortable, sheets and towels are changed daily, they were all clean and white! The spa is newer, in a very beautiful relaxing setting, the staff are always there to ensure you have a relaxing visit before and after your treatment of choice. We tried all the food locations throughout the resort except the Japanese (closed for renovations) and Cuban a'la cart, the food was delish and I never felt that I had to rush in order to get something before they ran out. We tried the beach dinner that was an extra $30 per couple and found that was rather disappointing for the money as there was nothing special offered in the way of food, wine or service, as a mater of fact, my glass was empty as the main dish was being cleared from the table, with his back to me asked my spouse if he would like more wine, he said no, the waiter walked away not even giving me an opportunity to ask (sorry, that just ruined my dinner and the experience I was done). We did find service was not quite what we have experienced in the past at other resorts, where at breakfast you sit down and immediately have your coffee cup turned over asking if you would like coffee and if you would like a samosa, we found that we almost had completed our breakfast (I eat slow) before coffee was even served, there was no offer for samosa's. We would always walk over to the lobby bar and get our coffee there after our breakfast, and find a comfortable place to sit and enjoy! The pool restaurant was great, those ladies went from just a few tables, we walked in with almost no one around, in just a few min at 1:30 PM the place was packed and just the two ladies to take care of everyone's needs, I can't say enough of how impressed I was, they were sharing the service without missing a beat! The beach was excellent, loved the clean washroom right at the edge of the beach, lots of areas to wash off after a swim, the snorkeling is truly wonderful there, they have equipment that was clean and in great shape! They had someone available to get you a lounge and track it to where you liked, there was lots of interesting spaces to rest and relax as you like close to the pool and beach!
