Club Tropical: Basic Vuba

Stayed here before, small resort- front door in town back door on beach. Basic simple resort for those who have been here before snd know what Cuba is about. Rooms are fair and basic. Food is good with fresh choices daily. Your not in Cuba for the food after all.

Melia Las Americas: Great Resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Melia Las Americas. Good food, friendly helpful staff, clean comfortable rooms. Lots of lounge chairs and shady areas at the beautiful beach. We would definately stay there the next time we are in Cuba.

Hotel Tuxpan: Fabulous Staff

The hotel staff were friendly & accommodating while facing a very difficult situation. Some of the guests were extremely rude & challenging especially at meal times in the buffet area. They took over completely the bar & most of the common areas.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Beach is beautiful

A large resort with gorgeous grounds, beach and fun pool options. The rooms were not comfortable and we came across many issues at the resort(check-in problems, things offered in our room category never received, had to complain many times, etc... Seemed like the list was never-ending) .The food and drinks were good. It was our kids first trip. They had fun. We have traveled to other countries and would probably not travel to Cuba again.

Club Tropical: Club Tropical

1st night - got in late and was put in a very small, but clean room. Next morn. asked for a change - no vacancies left...3rd morn. finally got a larger room - nice w/balcony. Food: Buffet in the morning was decent, but lunch and dinners, not so good - however...if you check the top 10 places to eat you'll be very pleased...so plan to eat out for those meals. Most places is an easy walk .. and you can always take a CoCo or taxi home (about 5 CUCS for CoCo) Beautiful beach..but watch out for san [... read more]d fleas... Make sure you rinse yourself off before going to your room because you can bring them in with you...they are NOT bedbugs..so don't worry about that. Entertainment was good...alcoholic beverages were made very well...and coffee's are good! All in all - if you want to be close to town, friendly staff, and not expect 5star quality..this is a good investment.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Veradero

Hotel rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and attentive.Food was ok should have more availiable food in snack bar. A la carte was good food but 2 resturants were closed and unavailliable due to issues so had to change choice of a la carte resturants. Pools and beach were nice

Memories Jibacoa: Great resort,home away from home

This resort is like home to us as we have enjoyed six visits here. We really like the smaller , more cozy size of the resort. The staff is like family and their service is exceptional. We are very much looking forward to our next visit.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful resort right on the beach

Iberostar Laguna Azul is a very attractive resort just to be in. The lobby is large and spacious with a beautiful large patio overlooking the pools and on towards the ocean. Sea or pool - your choice since they are steps apart. Okay, rooms could do with some updates and there were minor repairs needed here and there but everything was very clean all the time. Food was - Cuba - so adequate but plentiful. Staff were all extremely friendly and attentive - not a bad word to be said overall, for the [... read more] price the reset was unbeatable.

Palma Real: Great resort

The hotel grounds, public areas. As well as the pools were great. I still can't believe how good the food was. Fish, chicken, shrimp, and the snack bar even had fries. The hotel staff was very friendly. Hotel has a great location as it is right downtown. However watch out for people who aren't very social. That could seriously effect how much fun you have. But that isn't the fault of the hotel. It is just the luck of the draw, when considering who stays at the hotel the same time you do.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Resort was clean

The all inclusive was limited as they ran out of items daily. No where to go to get snacks in the afternoon independently. Always had to go to a grill to get snacks and the serves was very slow. so you sit an hour to wait for food. Communication is limited - if they run out no one tells you what is happening. Everyone wants tips - Restaurants better than the buffet. Toaster not working most mornings - toast was located in the opposite side of were eggs were being made. Punta Peninsula Varadero: Quiet & Clean Resort

This resort is the last on the peninsula so it has the biggest beach and great views! It’s also quiet since it’s far from other buildings. We found the buffet & restaurant food to be average, however the cafe and taco restaurant were quite good. If you don’t go early though most of the dishes are room temp and most things will be gone leaving you with few options. If you tip the grill service they will heat your items up for you. The rooms were very clean and the room service went above and beyond cleaning our rooms. You will need to pay deposits for beach towels, so pack your own to avoid this! There isn’t much for activities other than beach volleyball & salsa lessons. It would have been nice to have some water sport equipment (snorkeling, body boards) to use in the ocean. Overall it’s a great resort if food and activities aren’t important to you, but if it is just know it’s about average.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not for people with limited mobility even though it is an Adults only resort

The grounds were beautiful and well-kept. We had asked for an accessible room close to the pool and restaurants. We did get the accessible room but it was in a building the furthest from everything. The bathroom was equipped with a shower chair and flimsy curtain that went to the tiled floor, but no lip sectioning it off from the rest of the bathroom floor so the water ran under the shower curtain onto the rest of the floor. Very dangerous for someone with a disability. The pool, although very b [... read more]eautiful, did not have a handrail going down the steps or gradual walk-in to help balance the disabled or elderly people walking into the pool. My husband could not do the walk from our room to the buffet so it meant calling the main desk to get a shuttle to pick us up every time and one occasion we waited over 45 min.for one to pick us up. Because the restaurants were on a lower level from the main lobby, it meant my husband had to walk up 16 stairs in order to get a shuttle to take us back to our room. We found this very inconvenient and even though they had a chair lift at the stairs it was broken the whole time we were there. They need to cater more to the needs of older people. The staff made this trip very enjoyable at times, but improvements needed.

Hotel Los Cactus: Best little resort in Varadero

We love this resort. The people are friendly, and the food is good...you would not walk away hungry that's for sure especially at the AlaCarte's. We love Martino's they now have two different menus..one being the International...steak is awesome! and the Italian...never a disappointment. El Mojito's the Cuban restaurant...has a new menu and it is also excellent! Way to go Los Cactus! This was our 17th time ...but I'm sure we will be back again! :-)

Starfish Jibacoa: Sad in the sun.

The food was not bad for Cuba, but would have been better if it were hot instead of just barely warm The staff is great the very nice always smiling and happy. This is my 4th time at this resort. I had a bad experience last year because their tractor was broken and they couldn't clean the beach. but I thought I'd give it another try. It was worse! Thank god for the pool because, their tractor is still broken and the beach was a mess. The seaweed was a good foot deep all along the sho [... read more]re line. Making it almost impossible to even go for a walk on the beach. Our room had an extreme amount of black mold. Not only on the bathroom ceiling but on the bedroom walls, ceiling and in the closet as well. However we decided to just deal with it, after all it's only one week. It rained most of the time we were there. Oh will, you can't do anything about the wheather. But on the 3rd night we were in our room watching netflix when we noticed a horrible smell. We got up to see what the smell was and much to our suprize the sewer had backed up and was running out of the bathroom, across the floor and out the front door of our room. Needless to say They put us in a different room. Which was very nice clean and had no mold. So as the old saying goes Once bitten, twice shy.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort!

This hotel over all is very clean and service is pretty good. I'm very thankful to one of the servers at the buffet, I lost my $500 prescription sunglasses and she handed them to costumer service. I honestly that I will never see them again.

Playa Vista Azul: Culd Have Been So Much Better

Hotel was on the newer side and very very clean. Entertainment was awesome. Food was horrible. I've been to Cuba 13 times and over the few years the food has really improved, with the exception of this place. Food was bland, boring. They ran out of items at the buffet, grill, restaurants etc: Napkins, cheese, spoons etc. Ice cream machine would not work. No towels in the gym .Some of the simple expected things like I listed were not available. They had no fresh fruit for drinks, not even the [... read more] puree stuff. To make a strawberry drink, they used a strawberry syrup. They ran out of decaf coffee. There are two beaches. Both you share with hotel next door. Both are super small and crowded.

Melia Las Antillas: Pleasantly surprised, great value for the money.

The rooms were very clean, the service was good and the food was better than expected. Really good value. We also liked that there were plenty of comfortable chairs around the pool and also the beach. The meal options were varied at the buffet and the specialty restaurant was excellent. Had a great time with our friends.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Playa Alameda

Front Desk- Staff should be happier and greet guests with a smile, always looks like your bothering them when you go up for something. They also need to get more organized with cash and change, only one day out of 7 was I able to get change smaller than 5 cuc. People ain’t going to tip with 5 pesos, I like tipping 1-2 pesos almost every time I eat or get a drink,but not 5. Buffett- Pictures on Tripadvisor show lots of seafood and lobster, only seafood I seen the whole week was soggy uncleane [... read more]d shrimp and the same 2 types of fish a few nights. None of their salt shakers work, you can hear people banging them on tables throughout dining room. They use too course of salt for the tiny holes and salt is damp, they need to put rice in salt shakers. A La Carte- only tried Italian and Romantico, Romantico was nothing special, basically same meat as in Buffett but fancy plates. Lasagna was good in Italian as was the Carpaccio. Snack Bar Pool- Good French fries and hamburgers, pizza needed more sauce on it. The food was tasty and fresh but just repeated to much, they need to change it up and have theme nights. People get bored with the same old food every night. Grounds- They do clean up a lot and trim trees. Seen quite a few lamp posts with exposed wiring and held together with tape and not connectors, tape falls off in the kind of heat and could be deadly if touched. Rooms- Are large and spacious but old and tired, seen some bad wiring in room also. My friends room had no lamp shades. All the wall plugs get turned off when switch is closed, found that out when tablet never charged overnight. Our maid was awesome, always kept our room clean and surprised us every day with flowers and towel art. Bars- Were great, usually fast service, only thing they ran out of tonic water all week and no Amaretto Animation Team- Were good but I found they didn’t do enough activities at pool, they were non-existence most of the day. The shows were ok, I have seen better. Charlie is one special character.Foam party was supposed to be at beach on the sand at night which I never seen before,usually it’s in the pool in the daytime. They moved it to the theatre that night because of wind and rain, people dancing around in the foam not being able to see the chairs was not to smart. The resort doesn’t take any safety precautions into anything. Sidewalks around pool end and drop into a sandbox which is there when it was for kids. Why incorporate a sandbox that’s 6-8” lower than what your walking on, how many people fall into this at night. All in all the resort was ok and would return only if it was cheaper in price.

Playa Caleta: Lame

Not the resort I was looking for at all. the place lacks housecleaning and general maintenance. The food is like everywhere in Cuba; not good.... Lots of rice lack of fruits! No hot water... Only warm and cold. Matrices are over due to be changed, not confortable at all. I could say Russian resort... They are all over, louad and condescendant with the staff. The beach is not nice either... lots of broken shells that cut you feet. No air dryer.. One nice thing is that they have international TV a [... read more]nd 110W power outlet. The staff is mostly nice.... Except for a couple bar tenders!! Bring small bills to tip the people cause there ain't change at reception. Even if you guide tells you that changing the money at the hotel is equal to bank... Change directly at the airport or go to the bank. I guess that will be my last trip to Cuba due to all that...

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Alright resort..

The resort itself was nice, rooms were comfortable enough. Was quite surprised that there was no bread for 3 days..I've been to Cuba 4 times and this was the worse as far as the food goes..same thing everyday and cold a lot of the time...people were amazing as they are in Cuba..Pretty sure this was my last time in Cuba
