Muthu Colonial Hotel: Nice resort

The staff is very nice. We took vip ocean front. The view is amazing. Food was good but repetitive and from one day to the next not sure what you are getting. The vip is not like other places, you need to ask for stuff and reserve your restaurant every day. We had a special supper for vip and returning guests, very good and nice. The à la carte supper are limited and twice it was the same restaurant. Only 1 à la carte per night and only 50 people. We had hot water except for a few hours the first day, Good resort, but wine is there when they have it and same thing with different food. Brisas Del Caribe: Wonderful resort & staff!!!!

Just got home two days ago, was my 2nd visit to this resort. Room 345, not a single issue! Tipped the maid $5cdn and treats almost every day and received more the enough water bottles of water each day, as well as toilet paper. Beer and soft drinks in fridge as well!! Wonderful staff from Maikel Cuba Ramirez to the reception, maids, animation team, and bartenders. Beach was gorgeous as always for Varadero. However there was this one Russian who left her stuff on 3 different beach beds [... read more] for hours. I did respectfully move her stuff off of one and used it. She wasn’t happy when she finally came back but I just acted like I didn’t understand the language 😂 The food was good and plentiful. Fresh fruits and veggies, chicken, pork, fish, and beef! I was disappointed to see how many guests DONT TIP! I just find it completely tacky as I’ve been in the service industry for years. Even a little goes a long way. Plan for it.

Melia Las Antillas: Nice smaller resort

Hotel a bit dated but clean and site well maintained. Beach is amazing, wide beach, white sand and no shortage of chairs. Good entertainment, they do organize very nice special events and shows for guests. Great concierge service when booking VIP, except the ocean view suites 4th floor do not offer a view of the ocean... Food shortage was worse than expected, very repetitive at buffet, no pasta, no milk, no shrimps, fries 1 night, minimal fruit and vegetable selection, no milk... There w [... read more]as no wine all week except for 2 nights at a la carte dinner only and no lobster at the included lobster dinner. The snackbar only offered pork burgers and sometimes chicken. Bring your wine, condiments and snacks. No issues with hotel but food shortages however is a big problem. Heard from other tourists on bus that food shortages where not as bad in other resorts. Would only go back knowing this is corrected.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort

It was a lovely resort ,anything you asked for it was taken of ,our tap was broken in the bathroom no problem they came right up n fixed it ,the rooms were made up daily every one was so friendly,the meals were good but we could have used butter all week not just once ,but the bread was good and fresh didn’t really need butter ,would come back in a minute.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Nice resort on a beautiful beach

We returned to Club Amigo Atlantico for the second time after spending an amazing week in January. This time we travelled between March 26-April 2, 2023. We enjoyed the nice weather and went to the beach every day. Smooth white sand and crystal clear emerald water. The resort is very well kept and welcoming. Friendly personnel starting with the reception workers to the servers at the buffet and restaurants and bars. The room was comfortably furnished with the necessities including a mini fridge. The lady who did our housekeeping was friendly, kept our room clean and surprised us everyday with a different towel creation . We had WIFI in the room but the signal was week . It was much better on the balcony. We ate at the buffet 3 meals a day. Not too much variety but we found every time something to eat. At the end of our seven day stay there was not much bread nor fruit. We enjoyed the cold beer after dinner served at the table by the very friendly and attentive servers. Considering the poverty in Cuba it is amazingly well supplied with all the necessities. We definitely enjoyed our stay at this resort.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort!

It's an excellent hotel with original layout. Rooms are comfortable with spacious balconies, air conditioning works well. Common areas are well designed. Food is good with international variety. Beach is magnificent.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Worst resort we have ever visited and unsafe

Wifi only in lobby area and that was scarse. No wifi in rooms or anywhere else on resort. Awful food, dirty buffet restaurant with cockroaches near food. We have been back home 3 days and still have travellers diarrhea We witnessed staff fighting, punching each other, kicking chairs. Felt very unsafe for rest of vacation. Asked to speak to manager twice with no response. Zero night entertainment. Mosquito haven. We are all covered in bites. Paradisus Rio De Oro: We had a very good time in Paradisus Rio De Oro!

My husband and I came for one week. It is our 2nd time on this resort. Ocean-view bungalow look cozy but needs upgrade. Room was always clean! The view of the ocean was spectacular (this is why we staying here the 2nd time). Nice landscape: workers put a lot of efforts for it to look good. Entertaining team create a great atmosphere and customers have a lot of fun throughout a day. Food in buffet is okay: couple of time something was not very fresh and or tasty, but we always find something go [... read more]od to eat. The fish and meat grill and crapes stations were very good; the eggs/omelet and pasta stations were also good. Due to drought there were no bananas and mangoes. Desserts were not as good as last time (4 years ago).. Food in Mediterranean Restaurant was not tasty or special. It was my birthday and I suppose to get a cake but after 20 minutes of waiting we decided to leave without the cake. That was a little bit disappointing. In Cuban Restaurant the waiters purposely do not mentioned that they have the lobster (it was not on the menu), thus we ordered chicken. When we saw that other customers got the lobsters we inquired about it, so they brought us one lobster. Later we spoke with the other customers and they had the same experience. Either the restaurant did not have enough lobsters for everybody or maybe something fishy was going on there. Japanese restaurant was great: food is tasty and it's preparation was very entertaining. Staff are so friendly, helpful and professional! Thanks, guys!!! On Playa Esmeralda Beach we have been 6 times so far. In last couple of the visits we have noticed that the coral reef became bleached and started to die in some places. But during covid (without tourists I assume) the coral reef improved a lot and looks very healthy and beautiful again. Thus, snorkeling is great again! Overall, we had a very good time as usual in Cuba and in Paradisus Rio De Oro specifically. We will be back for sure soon.

Starfish Jibacoa: Better Every Visit

The grounds of the resort are well kept. Gardening staff work very hard. The rooms are sparse and kept clean every day. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating, doing their best to fulfill any requests made. The food was very good which was a big change from previous visits. We went through about a week of no milk which made the signature Spanish Coffees impossible to make for a while. Of course this was a far reaching shortage, and beyond the control of the resort, or its staff. The [... read more] biggest asset of this resort is the staff, from gardeners, receptionists, waiters/waitresses and bartenders. It was a great 2 weeks that we will not soon forget. Sol Palmeras: Excellent vacation

Wow! That was great. The hotel shows a little bit it's age on some of the bedroom's furniture (at least the "standard" we had) but nothing major, but the maintenance crew is on it. You can see staff fixing and renovating. The foyer it's huge and beautiful. The resort it's very well maintained and clean. Public washrooms are always clean and restocked. Room are cleaned every day, our cleaning staff did a very good job. The resort has a beautiful landscape (lots of palm trees). The beach and water, number one. Last but not least, the people, amazing.

Sol Cayo Coco: Sol Cato coco

Resort was great for the money. The food was okay we were able to find what we needed. The beaches are amazing and great for kids. It wasn’t over crowded. We wanted sun sand and pool and where happy with all. For the price of this vacation it was good.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Very Dated

The hotel has not been updated in a number of years; the public bathrooms were clean however falling apart. Our room was ok, however one day no towels or water. and our phone in the room never worked so we had to walk to the front desk to obtain. The hotel ran out of everything , and we did not have wine until our last day of holidays. The beaches were beautiful, however will never go back to Cuba, as the food was terrible.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Returning guest - for the last time

We've been to this resort 4 times previously. The returning guest program has really declined and not very organized. We requested ground floor due to medical conditions and were given 2nd floor upon arrival. Rooms not ready until after 4:00. No bacon, french fries, oranges -orange juice, bananas the whole week. Money is confusing and leaves you distrustful. Shops in resort will only take American or credit card - and charged us almost 50% on Canadian dollars. A lot of "side" business goin [... read more]g on - and after every performance - including the nightly entertainment, the hat was put out for "tips". Rooms are getting very very outdated and housekeeping does a bare minimum - have to "ask" butler for everything. We talked up this resort to our friends who were hesitant to retry Cuba. They came with us this trip and they had a dehumidifier in their room that THEY had to empty 4 times a day. We were quite embarassed at the "downfall" of the resort - not Royalton standards. Although I must say, you can see they are trying to get the resort back up to par - just not fast enough. Their wooden walkways are a hazard with missing, cracked boards. Blood stains dripping on back of stairs leading up to buffet. The beach and buffet waiters were great - the lobby bar and lobby staff and store employees can learn a lot from them - tourists seem to be a "bother" to them - and talk down to them. Not the Cuban people I remember - and definitely not the resort I remember.

Playa Vista Azul: A GREAT VACATION

The resort is listed as a 4 1/2 star resort (even if the resort states 5 star). Don't be fooled, it's good either way. We have been to Cuba 11 times from Holguin to Havana and never stayed at the same resort twice. There are some resorts we would return to and this is certainly one of them. The hospitality from the front desk, maid service, restaurant servers, pool and site bars and including the entertainment was great. The only thing we missed was the butter, there was none available and it was due to supply issues. Our friends stayed at another resort the same week and on had butter available during the breakfast meals; we survived. The two beaches available were most enjoyable; one is closer than the other and easier to get to but the further beach had a BBQ at 1pm everyday which was excellent. There is a restaurant and bar at the closer beach also very good. The grounds and pool are well maintained and Victor and Livia at the swim up will take good care of you and always seem to be in a great mood. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: good service and very comfortable

We stayed in the sanctuary. The rooms were always clean and the mini bar always had water, beer and soft drinks. We were very surprised to have our own butler. He was extremely helpful in booking our A la cart and a spa for me. He was always there to answer any issues we had. There was three of us there and had two separate rooms. My mother (90), my brother and myself. My mother had some mobility issues and she was made very comfortable by the staff. The food, well its Cuba and we we [... read more]re always nourished. Definitely try the chicken sandwich at the beach. BEWARE OF THE HOT PEPPERS IN THE CONTAINER BESIDE THE GRILL! There was no wine, which was a bit of a issue for me but they made some great drinks with rum. They made an amazing Spanish Coffee when they had milk. Their Margarita's were wonderful. We went one evening to watch the entertainment but had a lot of difficulty getting a shuttle back from the theatre. So we watched the evening entertainment in the small lobby. It was wonderful. All in all it was a lovely experience.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great trip

Overall, we had a wonderful time. The beach is beautiful in the pool was great. You can tell that the Buildings are a little bit worn, but overall they look after the property amazingly. The only downfall I would say, is the food does get a little bit Mandane. But that is Cuba. If you’re going there for the food, then you found the wrong country. The people are fantastic and the staff are amazing. Overall I traded 9 1/2 out of 10.

Barcelo Solymar: Good vacation

Resort was good, bonus was we were allowed to use the Resort nxt door. Food was adequate at the buffet and very good at all 4 A la Carte restaurants. Rooms were clean but basic, staff here were excellent everywhere.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Great hotel room and amenities with some improvements needed

Room is clean, modern and as described, resort and amenities, pool are new and very nice. Beach is very beautiful but rocky in certain places. No hot water shower at 5 pm, lukewarm at best. Buffet food is ok, no wine, ony cervesa and few drinks, plates not always clean, but overall ok if you're not too difficult, we didn't get sick during our stay. However, for kids food options are very limited, so can be said for kids entertainment and activities at pool and evening. For resto reservations there was a 30 min lineup not worth the wait, availabilities were very late in evening 8 pm is difficult to go with a young child (4) at that time. Service is hit and miss depending on areas/ employees, at bar always had quick and friendly employees, buffet some good others you have to go see them to get coffee at breakfast. It hapenned that some employees completely forget your order or service your requested: ex: forgot to put water in minibar for 2 days, forgot to change towels, reserved boat at beach rental and boat rented to somebody else when we arrived. Guy at gym was great, entertainment people on beach and pool very friendly and gave a great service. Overall, it was a nice vacation and stay, mostly because of nice hotel amenities, beautiful weather and beach/ pool entertainment. I don't regret it, and I believe all in all the positives of this hotel and vacation outweight the few negative experiences, would recommend to easy going friends/ and if bring your own wine, toiletries/ tissues, and few snacks with you. No shop at the hotel, so no possibility to buy any extras besides what they give at buffet, room and restos.

Melia Buenavista: Outstanding

You can snorkel and see amazing sea life right at the hotel! They have coral reefs right there and they are so so so beautiful! I’ve been to resorts all around central and South America and this one was my favorite! Food was good and service was lovely! Staff are thoughtful kind helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious and more updated. The only thing I wish I had was a comforter for sleep. But we slept fine with layers of the blankets they provided. Also I didn’t bring flippers to snorkel and the staff brought me some so I could see all the sea life! Beautiful resort! lots of quiet areas and laidback! There’s one pool where there’s volleyball and some dancing! Also I love that staff brought me coconuts to drink! Definitely want to come back!
