Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Nice but some things have changed

Resort is beautiful. However. Relax pool is not relaxing any longer. No rules posted. No rules enforced. It used to be for adults but no longer. Security removing towels from lounges because of unclear rules when you can place your towels on them. Waiting for a drink takes way too long.

Punta Cana Princess: amazing resort

bedroom.is quite clean and all services are very good. I like the spa. food are okay. the beach have too many sea grass （maybe due to the season). pool is good. I would like to recommend my friends to this resort.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Great Value for Money

Just came back from 12 days staying on in a Garden view room on the Reef side of the resort. This resort is about 75% renovated, with most of the first two buildings (rooms starting with a 2) not having been updated yet. Our room was not updated, but it was clean and the king bed was very comfortable. The resort is very large, and the terrain is a bit rough with stone pathways that are uneven. Walking in flipflops on the stone was hard on my back personally. But I found that avoiding the stone [... read more] pathways and taking short cuts through the other newer buildings when on my way to the buffet or beach helped a lot. Housekeeping was wonderful, but there was sometimes a shortage of towels. They would all be in the laundry and we ended up without a bathmat or a hand towel a few times. But fresh pool towels were always available, unlike some other resorts we have stayed at. FOOD: Unless you are on the Select side of this resort there is not always food available. We found that the paperwork that the front desk gave us did not have the correct times for when the buffet was open. So if you want food on demand you might want to book Select. Buffet food was good. You will always find something good to eat, even if the selection isn't huge. If you are a coffee snob, book Select. We were surprised to see that at the buffet they made big pots of instant coffee and it was very bad. Considering the DR is famous for it's coffee this was disappointing. There was a coffee machine at the first beach bar but it was broken the whole time we were there. I really hope they fix this and upgrade the coffee in general. They can't be saving that much money using instant. There were two a-la-carte's available, Mexican and Italian. We had Italian twice and Mexican once and they were both very good. Staff were mostly very nice. There were of course a few rock stars, and a few we preferred to avoid. The bar staff are great and try to be fair and serve people in order. The wait staff at the buffet had a strange system where one person seats you, another will set your cutlery place setting, then another pours your water, and another asks if you want anything to drink, then a different person clears your plates. So this ends up making for a very impersonal experience and at times we felt quite overlooked (no one would come ask for our drink order throughout the entire dinner) and this I think reduces their opportunities for getting better tips as it made it hard to get to know staff. Even in the a-la-carte's they mostly operated like this. We have had much better service at other resorts? But the staff is working very hard, I think it is just how they are trained and how the management operates the place. I think this could use improvement. If they had smaller sections and smaller "crews" in each section they could pay more attention to their tables. WIFI is crappy. Don't get it. Walk a block away to a Claro (big red sign) or an Altice (blue signage) store. Those are the two main phone companies and they will sell you a SIM card for 100 pesos (about $2US) and a data plan for the duration of your stay. We bought a $6 package that gave us 10Gb of data for 14 days and we had service wherever we went all over resort and off. Then you can communicate with people back home over any app like messenger or whatsapp etc. Whereas wifi is $25USD per device per week and you have to be in a few specific locations to get it to work. There were packages for $3 so if you are there for a week you'd pay $5 instead of $25 and get to use maps and other apps while you are off resort. Other pro tips. If you are on Reef side and like going out for breakfast. Walk down the stairs to the public beach, take three steps around the corner of the rock wall and then go up the stairs to the Waterfront restaurant. There you can get the best service, bacon eggs toast hash-browns and amazing coffee for around $3-$5 and its so nice there, and relaxing and the view is just amazing. Great for a treat day and cool photo op spot. They have a full menu of other stuff too. Jolly Rogers bar is a fun spot to check out in the evening between dinner and disco time. They are about 3.5 blocks away and they have special events like Karaoke and Bingo and its just a really fun vibe. Great staff and inexpensive food and drinks. Free wifi, just ask your waitress for the password. Great chicken wings! There is a small Playero store 3 blocks away from the resort that is a small grocery store to pick up snacks etc. And there is a Pharmacy right beside it that has vitamins, drugs and other stuff. And we found another grocery store a bit further where we bought coffee to bring home for much cheaper called Super Pola. It was around 10 blocks to walk there. There is a huge Playero (it's like a Walmart) on the highway as you drive in on the bus to the hotel, but it is really expensive. You can find things cheaper almost anywhere else. Casa Marina was perfect for what we needed. An inexpensive getaway in the sun. I hear the Select side is very nice, so if you prefer five star make sure to book over there. We called ourselves "genpop" and poked a bit of fun at our friends who were staying on the other side because we were not allowed over there. But we all mixed on the beach and at the lobby bar at night. Good times. Made some great friends. We would most definitely return.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Stay away!

Hotel was hit hard by the hurricane and is under construction! Only one restaurant open and the sounds of jack hammers all day! They pump up the music to try and drown it out! But…. The staff is trying hard under these circumstances.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Beautiful Resort

The Bahia Principe Aquamarine was a beautiful resort. It was very clean. The staff were lovely and the entertainment staff were fantastic and lots of fun. They interacted with the guests and made them feel very welcomed. I would definitely come back.

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellence is an understatement!

The resort was fantastic. Entertainment every day, restaurants and food were great and the staff friendly and courteous. Resort was kept clean and pristine. The only negative were the rip tides but the resort can’t control the ocean!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Wonderful staff

The grounds of the resort are beautiful. The resort itself is a bit dated and in need of some repair. Overall our stay was good. The staff here truly care about their work and made our experience awesome

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very disappointed with bahia Punta cana

Rooms were very dirty, also sour smelling and musty. Room changed 3 times. Poor quality of food on buffet,exact same thing for 2weeks. The bug issue is a very big problem outside and in rooms. My mother needed to be seen by the dr for bites as our benadryl and hydrocortisone cream did not work. Lots of guests covered in bug bites. Cockroaches in room. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Overall okay

Pick up from airport was smooth. We were given a room in the 205 buildings. Unfortunately this was the area that was not updated yet, very old and run down. Had to upgrade for 20$pp/n to nicer junior suites

Occidental Punta Cana: Gorgeous place to stay

The grounds were extremely well maintained. A very lovely place to spend vacation. The food offerings were a bit limited but were decent overall. We did not enjoy the restaurants as much as we enjoyed the buffet. Breakfast was extremely popular and very tasty!

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Very nice resort

The resort was good, grounds clean, beach nice just too much people trying to sell you stuff everyday! Food was ok for the most part. The Lunch and dinner buffet was pretty ok, they only had chicken on Sundays which kinda sucks. Breakfast was underwhelming like they had the same breakfast items every single day no change at all . They only had coke and 7up as soda options

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Resort review

This resort is very beautiful and the grounds are kept in an immaculate manner. We were in the adults only section, the pool area was great no kids however the buffet area which is supposed to be adults only section had a lot of kids running around despite signs saying adults only. I think the staff should have intervene and remind parents about this. I would also say that 60 percent of the staff were not friendly and service was slow in the buffet area for breakfast and lunch. He would offer lots of other people in the pool area drinks but ignore us, avoided eye contact with us. We even tipped him quite a bit to see if the service would be better but it wasn't. We ended up getting our own drinks. The nightly shows were too late, starting at 9:30 and were not very good. They cancelled the beach party claiming it was going to rain. There was no rain in the forecast. They could have changed it to another day. The beach is beautiful but lots of seaweed that is not cleaned up.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: We will be back

An absolutely fun filled vacation. Great value. A ten day stay was well worth it. A friendly staff and always with smiles on their faces. This was our second time staying there and would definitely recommend this resort

TRS Turquesa: Do not recommend

The hotel is ok. No more. If you encounter problems, the guest service is the worst. They will give you the run around. The food is ok. The service at the restaurant hotel is poor. We will not return to that hotel.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Majestic Mirage All Suites Resort

We have been to Dominican Republic at least 6-7 times and this was by far the best resort we’ve been to! Beautiful and clean grounds and rooms, friendly and fun staff everywhere and excellent food!! We would go back here for sure!!

Occidental Caribe: NOT FOR US...

I have been to several resorts in Cuba, DR, Mexico, Barbados etc. I anticipated the food would be mediocre and the rooms out of date but I was going for the lovely beaches of Punta Cana. Unfortunately this was the biggest disappointment for us. The beach is beautiful but the WAVES were so rough it was not good at all for kids and parents. We could not be more that arms reach away from him the entire time he was in the water because of the strong waves and undertow. This beach actually scar [... read more]ed me twice and I was so stressed when he was in the water that we barely went to the beach. The beach is why we go, not for the pool. The food wasnt great if you have kids. The pizza place was only open on weekends and if your not there when it opens your waiting in line. The buffet was ok. Always something but not much buffet options for the kids besides Fries. If you speak Spanish you are going to be okay but not speaking Spanish we were challenged. Majority of staff don't speak English, the resort seems to cater more to the locals that come for weekends - this is when things go so busy there were lines everywhere. The rooms were very outdated but that is not a problem for us. What WAS a problem was that our SAFE was broken and we spent a few hours in the room waiting to get it fixed. The AC is also barely working so it was quite warm, the fan and AC were not able to be changed to colder temps. Also our ceiling was peeling and our friends we met there had a leak in their ceiling. The pools were nice but the adult pool was the only pool that had any activities. We couldn't go to that pool because we had our son but we would have loved to participate in the activities. The kids pool area was very cute, lots of fun but it is more geared to younger kids under 6 yrs. My son is 8 and he wanted a pool that he could swim and jump and play so we used the other pool kids were allowed in but it was very quiet with nothing going on. We later found out there were some kids activities but we missed most of them. I would suggest if you go because of the price be prepared to get what you pay for. If you dont like to swim in the ocean and dont mind outdated rooms and Cuba like food options this is good for you. The grounds were beautiful and beach was super close to the hotel. If you enjoy the beach and swimming you might want to book on the side of Punta Cana more closer to the Caribbean Sea - like Barcelo etc. We also did 2 excursions that were fantastic - Monkeyland and the Caribbean Pirates at Sea. We had a great time and our 8 year old loved both. If you do go find Nelson in the dining room and Anna from the Kids club. Both were fantastic! Below I rated the BEACH/POOL low because of the beach but the pool was nice just lots of cups at the bottom of it - my son recovered most of them each morning.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

It's have been one week since we get back from Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Resort . The resort is very clean , beautifully laid out and the staff are amazing people , especially our butler Francisco who took care of us from the moment we arrived , to the moment we left . Also big shout out to Francesca , our housekeeping lady - thank you for making our room always nice and clean . Thank you for sharing your beautiful resort with us. Ewa & Walter
