Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Beautiful resort and staff

I spent 7 days here and wish it never ended. Firstly, the service and staff are second to none. The entire resort is beautiful. It's a quiet, relaxing, cosy resort that caters to a mature group of tourists but still accomodates families. The beach is perfect for snorkelling as there are fishes and turtles to look at. Some say the beach is small because of the boardwalk but actually the boardwalk is perfect for those who want to avoid sand after a swim. Sand is still available. The world famous p [... read more]laya pilar beach is only a 15-20 min walk away as well but the resort beach is better for snorkelling. The beach is perfect even after the hurricane last year (no signs of damage whatsoever).

Hotel Mojito: Love this place !!!

Just back to work after an amazing 9 day stay at Iberostar Mojito. the weather was amazing, the staff incredible and the overall trip a grand success. Everyday our room was made up expertly and the attention to detail at meal times and leisure times was outstanding. We got the feeling that the staff at Iberostar Mojito are happy to be at work and must be treated pretty well, and it shows.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful resort

This resort was the first time my boyfriend and I have been to Cuba and it was definitely a wonderful experience. the beach, was a lovely view and the pool was amazing as well. I always heard that the food in Cuba isn't the greatest, but we found the buffet food pretty good! so a very happy surprise. And the wait staff here were always friendly and helpful. There wasn't too much going on for entertainment, but if your looking for a relaxing time in the sun, this is definitely the place.

Sol Cayo Coco: Amazing resort!

Beautiful grounds, great food, very clean room, great entertainment, and most of all great staff! Very friendly and polite and helpful! Many thanks to the people at the front dest, Henry, Geisy, Elvis, Raulito, at the buffet. The beaches are amazing! Older resort but very cozy! Only 270 rooms. Met amazing people! Would definitely return! Only 10 min. from airport! We were there for 14 amazing days!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great resort with amazing beach.

Nice hotel. Beach was amazing. Needs a few more shelters. Rooms were clean and staff pleasant and helpful. Food was ok .... always found something to eat. Didn't make it to the entertainment so can't comment.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great beach!

It was our 5th trip to Cuba and a second trip to Memories Flamenco. We were there in December of 2012 and had a great time. We have noticed mostly positive changes ex. the quality food and the amazing beach.. We understand that the management has changed since our first visit from being Spanish to Canadian and with it the variety of food (more international) great selection of vegetables in the buffet restaurant and great selection of deserts. I personally didn't have a good experience in a l [... read more]a carte restaurant .Was sick for 2 days after eating fried fish. Some other guests had some issues as well. The room was clean, our maid was exceptional. The grounds are kept fairly clean especially around most common areas due to the exceptionally hard working gardener whom we have recognized from our previous stay. The staff mostly very friendly. The waiters at the lobby bar area a little tardy at times and the bartenders sometimes a little impatient and inconsistent with the drinks quality, but overall very good.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good Resort for Kids

The resort size is perfect. Beach, Pool, Buffet all within short distance from rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My 6 year old son loved it. The beach is huge! Lenny's lobster shack is worth the trip.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Good time!!

I THOUGHT THE BEACH WAS WONDERFUL, THE GROUNDS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND THE HOTEL ROOM WAS NICE, THE STAFF IS AWESOME!! THE FOOD WAS NOT GOOD AND COULDN'T GET ON BUS TO TRAVEL TO MARKET BECAUSE WE WEREN'T PICKED UP FIRST. WHICH WAS ANNOYING THEY SHOULD SWITCH WHO THEY PICK UP SO WE GET A CHANCE.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing experience!

Memories Caribe is a beautiful tropical paradise. The pristine grounds are tended lovingly by dedicated and knowledgeable keepers who are working on improving the already beautiful landscaping. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. The food and drinks are well prepared by friendly and accommodating people. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great Vacation

My favorite thing about Cuba is the people. The personality of the people we meet is friendly and welcoming. We are well taken care of and can be as relaxed or active as we want. The resort itself is well layout and the beach is fantastic. We enjoy walking the beach and had lots of room to explore. The food was not that great but the chocolate dessert in the Cuban restaurant was amazing.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Not terrible but not great either

The hotel itself is very nice and open concept. There's lots of entertainment but it's all very similar...some variety would be nice. The nightly dancers are fantastic. The hotel was fully booked so there was a line for everything...sometimes 20 minutes to get a drink. There was seldom toilet paper in the ladies room and we went for 2 days with none in our room. The hotel was fully booked so despite trying to make reservations at the restaurant on the first night we were not able to get in to an [... read more]y of them for the whole week. The food is typical Cuban food but was NEVER hot. I saw 2 cockroaches crawling around the buffet and an actual live snail on a piece of lettuce. The pools were meticulously clean and the grounds were well kept. There were a ton of bugs due to the location near the marsh and we wound up very bitten and itchy. Overall not terrible but also not great.

I have been here 6 times I love this place it is a family friendly place friendly staff and a quiet resort which I like the food is good and the rooms are comfortable the beach is great there was improvement made it is huge

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort to get away

Very large comfortable resort with lots of activities to keep you busy. Best for familes. Food was plentiful and fine, always available anytime. Rooms were clean and modern, beach was long and beautiful. Had a great time

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Resort

This was a beautiful resort, with an amazing beach area!! It's a fairly new resort, and the rooms are very nice. The a la carte restaurants served good food, especially the Aquas seafood restaurant - all you can eat grilled lobster tails!!! Service at the buffets and bars was a little slow, but we were on vacation & not in a great hurry. Definitely good value for your vacation dollars!!!

Melia Cayo Coco: wonderful vacation

staff extremely helpful and cheerful all the time. We will definitely look forward to another Melia experience. Evening entertainment was top notch and other than a storm that damaged one of the restaurants, the weather was delightful. Thank you

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Disappointed

We went into this trip expecting the best. New resort, ”5 star”, close to pilar, great reviews... But it didn't measure up. The best way I can describe it is over hyped. We had issues with the service because they seemed under staffed. The staff in most locations rotated on shifts and they were very hit and miss, we made some great friends but during some shifts it was just better to go to the beach and wait for the other shift to start. Choreography was off, the show managers didn't choose great themes, and we're selectively friendly with only more attractive female visitors. The beach here, as most have discussed, is more of a dock area imported sand poured behind. There is a small section of white sand beach at the boat launch, and if you swim out a little you'll find a lovely area to bask in or swim around. Playa Pilar is 800m away, you have to walk in the water or across the rocky cliff side, is beautiful there. We took paddle boats out and this was the best way to get to a nice area for swimming, then you could jump out and swim for an hour before returning. Food at this resort was great. They offered a great selection of fresh fish and seafood daily cooked on the grill, along with their signature fresh milk and fruits which were always good. A la carte restaurants served fancied up versions of the good buffet food, and the lobster was the best I've had in Cuba yet. The stand out food for us was the beef ribs, sushi, lobster, and the fresh dairy. Unfortunately my wife and I both got seriously ill. We sustained incomparable stomach pain and we don't know what it was from, our best guess is water/ice... But it could have been food related. They tell you it's OK to use the tap water at this resort for drinking... And I think they make their ice with it. Lastly the accommodations were marvelous! We had a great view of the beach and the blocks are built in such a way that almost every apartment has a nice view.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great Resort and Fantastic People

This is the second time we've been to Sol Cayo Coco. It won't be the last. Not only does it have the best beach in the area (Pilar isn't any nicer) but the staff at the resort were amazing. Never had to wait any time for a drink and if they were even remotely busy they told you to go ahead and have a seat and they brought your drinks. And they NEVER waited for a tip. Oh my God. It is truly fantastic. There are actually two beaches split by an outcropping of rock. While the one on the right is awesome we chose to spend most of our time on the left hand side. The water is calmer and the sand just that little bit more powdery. Fantastic. The rooms, while a little older, were clean, bright and well taken care of. The food, which is always the true test, was actually good. We even gained a little weight. The calamari at the beach grill was frickin' incredible and we paid the extra to have the logostina which would have been worth it at twice the price. There is a guy that makes fried rice. Yup, fried rice. It was so good I kept going back to him to the point that every time he saw me he fist bumped and stopped asking what I wanted. He'd just make it. He actually got a little emotional when I said we were leaving. I would recommend Sol Cayo Coco to anyone who wants a mid-size resort with good food, a great beach and incredible people.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Not bad

Hotel was beautiful. Pool was setup very nicely with pool beds which were very comfy. Staff was very pleasant. Always willing to help with anything you needed. Only thing I have to say that disappointed me was the beach. Beautiful lookout on the pier but the pier if the length of the beach. Only one small area of beach to access the water. Definitely disappointing since I'm a beach girl. Everyone was packed in that one access spot on beach n the rest of the long beach was vacant.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Resort!

Great staff! It's a very big resort with 2000 people so it's busy! Lots of walking. Beach is beautiful with lots of shells and some sharp coral. Great sand bar to walk out too. On one side of the beach you could walk very far. Met great people from across Canada and England! Lobby was great at night to meet people and chat. Review the resort map onl [... read more]ine before you go to try to get some of the layout of where everything is. Sometimes food was good, other times just ok. You just can't be too picky. We did not starve that's for sure. People complained about line ups for food and drinks but we did not find it too bad. We all got bit by what I assume were mosquitoes( referred to as no-see ums). There were line ups for beach towels for those arriving on a busy day and we heard people had to wait a few days for a beach towel. We did not have that problem. Lots of reserving of lounge chairs at pool and beach and sometimes there were a lack of chairs. We would ask a staff member nicely and they always found us chairs. Room was nice and staff very accommodating when we asked to move to a room close to beach and pool. Resort was clean. Usually there was a shortage of toilet paper and soap in the public ladies rooms. There is a small market very close, a disco, bowling alley and spa. The resort was ok enough but I probably would not go back as we have never gone back to the same resort twice. This was our 7th stay in Cuba.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Don't believe the write up

Food is same all day every day. Found 3 pieces of glass in my salad. Special meals poor. Both of us got travel trots for a day. Rooms not cleaned well. Asked 3 times for deadbolt to be fixed- never was. Asked for new lightbulb in bathroom- not done. Safe didn't work halfway through week- fixed next day. We were told to leave our valuables in open safe... Beach is nice, 3 pools in same area joined by kiddie pool. Ask to book free catamaran or paddle boats on beach. $20 CUC gets snorkelling on nea [... read more]rby reef equipment included. Lots of activities. Friendly staff. Lots of bug bites. We paid extra for ocean view and were put on first floor looking at a sand pile. They moved us to second floor where we could see the ocean. There is no non-smoking area - continuously breathing in cigar and cigarette fumes. Glad I didn't have children exposed to it. Definitely not 4.5 stars.
