Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very Nice Resort

This hotel is very well maintained. The grounds are immaculate. The beach is expansive. The facilities are clean and well kept. The restaurants are well varied and the food is extremely good. However the beds and pillows were lacking in comfort.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Best Hotel on the Beach!

We've been coming to the Melia Tryp Peninsula for 7 years, and each year it gets better- welcoming staff, beautiful grounds, and plantation-style accommodation in 2-3 story buildings surrounded by palms, a few steps from the ocean.

Melia Cayo Coco: Bad Experience for us. Not Recommended for Active & Foodie People.

Booked Grand Premium Lagoon View Room for me and my wife. Week of 9 days mourning. Lagoon: Dirty and has gutter/ sewerage smell. Room: Clean but air-conditioner isn't powerful enough. Bidet in washroom is nice touch. On arrival there was a cheap rum and wine in room. Pool / Beach: 1 Clean Pool, but beach had sea weeds everywhere. Buffet: Worst food and service ever experienced. Unflavored, Cold and sometime food was served half cooked. Restaurant: 3 Restaurants, ambiance is good  [... read more]for all but food quality & option as follows. Cuban:Good, Italiano:Worst & International:Okay) Beverages: Local soft drinks were okay, Beer was low quality, if you want different . Havana Rum is good Activities: Archery, Shooting & Pool volleyball were only interesting activities. There was rum tasting event where same local Havana Rum is provided. Music: No music or similar activity as mourning period. Service: Except room cleaning & activities above, rest all services in resort were based on tips. Not Recommendation for many reasons: 1. If you want to do some activity than lying entire day blocking beach chair. 2. Buy your internet. 3. Buy massage / spa service. 4. Buy beer if you want different than local Crystal Beer. 5. If you are vegetarian. 6. Cheese has odd taste, Cooks prepare bad Italian food. 7. CUC is expensive than USD 8. During country 9 day mourning period, resort didn't do any effort make our stay interesting. I didn't go to mourn but fun. Sad place to be, never returning back.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Good vacation

This was our 7th time in Tryp Hotel Cayo Coco and we like it very much. The hotel is a perfect setting. Big swimming pool, buffet restaurant and many a la Carte restaurants. We know lot of people there so we always looking forward to see them again. This time there was no entertainment because there was 9 days mourning of passing of Fidel Castro but people made their own fun. Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus

Very good service. Lots of problems with the room but we were moved very quickly to another. All the staff were trying very hard to help in any way. Unfortunately (as we have traveled to various places in Cuba and several places in Varadero they must find it difficult to keep up maintenance to these places - lack of supplies and/or maintenance people.

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing trip! Bad timing but would still highly recommend and return!

Great food and beyond amazing staff! Castro passed away so entertainment was non-existent to minimal, however the entertainers were very accommodating. Beaches were beautiful! One pool was being maintained and Beds need to be replaced. TVs were replaced during out stay as well, and our building was being painted. good to know they are maintaining and up-keeping the resort though! Premium liquor was great. Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Beach,poor entertainment

Huge Beach,lots of sunshades too bad sunbeds are hard plastic.Rooms nice and clean.Food was OK.We tried only Italian a la carte restaurant pretty good.Buffet and beach buffet where clean.It's 1 year old so grounds palm trees are young.Service everywhere in this resort very good.Except beach volleyball entertainment very poor pprobably conditioned by former leader's funeral.Overall a nice 1 week vacation.

Sol Varadero Beach: Pretty run down resort

At first we got checked in to the Sol Sirenas side not the Coral side. Those rooms were disgusting. The shower was mouldy and my bathroom roof was caving in. I had to push my door open as it was dragging on the floor. The picture in the frame on the wall was partly out of the frame and the matting was water stained and warped.The beds were all springs and so uncomfortable. The room smelled musty. The reception staff was amazing as was the restaurant staff. The food was pretty boring and didn't really change ever. The a LA cartes were okay. We enjoyed the Italian and Asian ones the most. The pools were pretty dirty but we spent minimal time in them anyways. The sauna and hot tub were closed. They were cleaning the grounds up while we were there so they were decent. There was a compost pile coming up from the beach that really started smelling bad at the end. The beach was okay. A tractor came through and raked the sand but it didn't seem to pick any garbage up or anything so I'm not sure what the point was. There was a nice outdoor grill at lunch time down by the beach that another tourist happened to tell us about. That was awesome. Nothing was advertised or organized though so you just had to accidentally stumble across it or have someone tell you about it. The entertainment was cancelled for the most part however that may have been because of the 9 days of mourning of Castro's death. The first few days there was volleyball and stretching on the beach then that was it. The rooms were okay. They were clean enough but the beds were really hard. At least these showers were decent. It was really hard to find toilet paper or paper towel in the bathrooms outside of your room. This was really frustrating and unnecessary. That would be my biggest complaint. Even when the staff knew the washrooms were out of supplies they did nothing. One of our party had an issue with lights in their room and that problem was resolved within an hour and a half. Overall a bit dissapointing even for the lower price we had paid. I wouldn't go back or recommend it to anyone.

Melia Marina Varadero: Top notch resort

Rooms are very clean with plenty of water pressure. Food was always good to excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our entertainment was cancelled due to the passing of Fidel, so the resort was a little quiet. The marina is very clean with many nice shops would definitely go again

Sol Varadero Beach: Would not go again !!!

The hotel is not great. The staff are not helpful especially in customer service I found them to be extremely rude. If I had a dollar for every time I was told to go to the other side I could of stayed an extra week. Hotel is split up into 2 resorts and was repeatedly told to go to the other hotel. For everything. Bank was under construction so had to go to other side. Entire resort is so dark you cannot walk around safely after 6 pm Would definitely not go back

Melia Varadero: Lovely resort - bad timing

We arrived in Cuba on the day of Fidel Castro's death and at the beginning of 9 days of public mourning. Therefore, we were very restricted in terms of activities off the resort, and there was no music or entertainment on the resort - a very somber environment. However, I would comment that the resort itself was very nice. The beach was lovely, and we participated in swimming, snorkeling, boating and lounging. W [... read more]e really liked the "Level" service and used the Level lounge area regularly, and the concierge service to book the internal restaurants, currency exchange, and general information. Food, beverages and service was very good, beyond expectations. My husband was looking forward to tennis and lessons, but the resort pro did not make his appointments and so that was disappointing. The gym equipment was not great, but not important to most of our group. All in all, great resort, great weather, but bad timing for us.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent resourt

Secluded location, staff polite and not overreaching. Always have spare longue on the beach or swimming pool, no need to rush in the morning to "claim". Very pleasant room and very clean. Amazing beach! I stayed with my mom for a week in November 2016. As usual for Cuba, the food variety is the only area for improvement. What was different in this resort, the staff acted as a real team helping each other with service - truly customer oriented resort.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Pleasant Surprise - 5 Star Resort

Overall a excellent resort with friendly well caring staff. All services were "best effort". Food is excellent on an international scale - if you like burgers and hot dogs you will be disappointed. Beef is not easily raised here. A La Carte restaurants were excellent - Hilltop service was better than New York, Paris, Toronto. Food at Italian and French were on par with any 5 Star Resort. General staff is good...formal rules with what they can and cannot do - ie wifi cards can only be boug [... read more]ht with local CUC and only when the teller is is there...no exceptions even in an emergency. Some aggressive tipping from the pick up bus driver and guide (Charlie Brown) - other than that no aggressive tipping requests.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very relaxing

Resort was amazing. Food was great. Grounds immaculate. Personel very friendly. Facilities were good. Toilets should be upgraded. Would gave been noticed about the renovations beside our unit. If we wanted some quiet time in our room it would been impossible.

Melia Buenavista: Melia Buenavista Cayo Santa Maria

Arrived via Sunwing out of Montreal. The resort is very nice. Everything was excellent , the rooms, the grounds, staff, beaches and the snorkeling. The only problem was the evening meals at the two on site restaurants. The food was not very good at all. The breakfast and lunches were fine but the evening meals were really bad in food quality. There was a shuttle to other resorts that had other restaurants and that is pretty much what we did for the rest of the trip. We did have a little issue with water pressure in the room but it wasn't something we couldn't deal with. Other than the evening meals this is a great resort, laid back adults only. The entertainment at night was severely subdued due to the death of Fidel Castro so can't really comment on that part of the trip.

Melia Cayo Coco: Quiet, Clean and Rejuvenating

This resort is one that gets many repeat customers. If you are looking for quiet, clean and comfortable this is it. The staff are awesome, the food is really good, the beach is very nice. They are always updating this resort albeit slowly. Improvements to all areas from rooms to gym to buffet are appreciated. Don't tell me you can't get good food in Cuba - this proves you can. People return here for the above reasons - if you want golf or shopping or parasailing or even hiking, this may not be  [... read more]the place for you. This resort best serves you if you want to read a book or nap on the beach. We have stayed here and only here for several years now and are always bumping into like-minded people.

Melia Varadero: Amazing resort

We stayed on the level and it is definitely worth the extra money. We loved the Steak House for level clients and all the personal service available on the 5th floor. The manager of the level is an amazing woman who checked in on us on numerous occasions to make sure we were happy with everything.

Memories Cayo Largo: Amazing Beach

The rooms, as per other reviews I have read are a little dated. The room service was excellent. Water and beverages replenished daily. The food at the buffet was okay. Grilled fish and omelet bar were very good. The restaurant located by the beach was very good at lunch. The service and food at dinner was sub par. We had an ocean view room. Melia Las Americas: Amazing resort

The Hotel is one of the best all inclusive hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world pesently surprised by the quality of the food. Drinks served in glasses not cups 24 hour bar Even though we stayed the week Castro died when we had no music or entertainment for 4 days we amused our selves we were a group of 17 guys Golfing we had so much fun. You could find a short cut to the beach from most rooms even though we were a long walk to main hotel entrance but worth it. A

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nine days of mourning

We stayed from November 23-30, 2016. Arrangements were made efficiently through TripCentral and the bonus promotion of a $100 gift card was much appreciated and covered nearly the entire week of valet parking. Thank you. The resort was well manicured and the grounds were beautiful. Lots of walkways completely around the resort to walk on. Because Fidel Castro died on the Friday night after our arrival, activities were kept to a minimum. There were no night shows after his death, no sales of liquor in the store, activities were cancelled and the activities that did happen, were quiet and quite uneventful. The food in the buffet and a la cartes was good, service was good and I saw no problem other than a few birds and cats in the dining area. That didn't bother me very much. The pool restaurant was quite handy and the food was good. The beach restaurant had a great pig roast on one of the days and that was very good. I liked the fact that jugs of cold juice, water etc could be found in many places around the resort. We did not use the bars around the resort other than the lobby bar and the service there was fine. I would not say any service anywhere on the resort was exceptional. We have been to Cuba many times and the service at this resort was no better or no worse than most resorts. My favourite part of the resort was the entertainment in the lobby...pianos, violins, claironets, flutes etc. There was usually two performances over the course of the early evening and each was great. Enjoyed that more than anything! Very happy with Tripcentral and it was not the fault of the resort or anybody else that Castro's death changed the entire dynamics of the week. It was memorable and a good choice of a late autumn resort.
