Hotel Playa Coco: Playa Coco - A fine resort!

It was an all-inclusive resort. The staffs were friendly and tend to our needs when asked for. They had two 24-hou open bars for all booze lovers. They had activities and games at the resort and every night they will have dance and music programs as well. It was very entertaining. Do not expect much from the buffet experience, you could find some things that you like to have. Their menu is almost similar every day. Beach and Pool experience was amazing.

Memories Jibacoa: A great vacation

We just returned from a week at Memories Jibacoa and are happy with our choice of resort. The location is beautiful with the resort nestled between mountains and the sea. Everything was super clean and maintained, the staff were friendly and helpful, the entertainment was enjoyable and the food was good. The resort is relatively small so everything is close. We endured a 6 hour delay going and a 2 hour delay coming home. The 6 hour delay was due to a concern with the plane. We ended up moving to a new plane and got to the resort at 3 am. Coming home the delay was due to several crew members calling in sick and having to round up replacements. I don't recommend Sunwing but I do recommend Memories Jibacoa.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful hotel

Hotel was very nice and clean, people very friendly grounds were lovely, was nice being on second floor with nice balcony, recommend bringing your own condiments, and was a little disappointed no white wine until night before we left, had we known would have brought our own, other than that would definitely go back

Playa Pesquero: All good except for

We had a really good time at the resort, although at times certain items may be missing on the menus the staff more than compensated for this and all was good. However, there was one evening on the Premium side where we were seated for dinner and waited over 30 minutes for our order to be taken. Then another hour before our appetizers were served then again another hour and still had not received our entre. We were ignored.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: A PIECE OF PARADISE

Visited March 24-31, our second time since November 2022. A great go to for an inexpensive vacation. Can't do better than the beaches at Cayo Guillermo. While the hotel was full, the food was not as good as in Nov, when the hotel was only 1/3 full. More choices this time but lacked quality. Flies in buffet made for quick meals. No wine at all. Purchased a bottle in the store and more when we went to Moron. No Cristal one day, Moosehead cans served. Rooms are dated but comfortable and clean. [... read more] Staff is amazing, very friendly. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resory

Very nice but could do with a few more garbage recepticals around pool and beach area. We had to leave before breakfast was open would be nice if we could of had access to a pastry before we left as we were able to get a coffee but nothing to eat only a snack at the airport and on the plane but apart from those two things that was my only complaint.the staff could not of treated us any better

Melia Internacional: Very nice resort - some observations of note

Here are a few observations from my recent trip at the end of March 2023 - WIFI - was spotty, keeps dropping as you move around, and fastest speed I saw was 15MPS - not very reliable or fast - Coffee - the usual fulsome Cuban coffee of the past is no more - seems watered down - Food - Meh. I am not a foodie at all and can eat most anything - but the buffet selection became a bit tiresome. Good way to save paper for menus. - Cuban cigars are available at a deep discount to shop prices...ask around but only if you are comfortable taking a bit of risk - Resort is a bit 2-Tier - if you are a "Level" guest you have access to certain restaurants, a quiet pool, prime beach chairs, etc; I paid enough that I didn't want to be reminded of this daily - would be better if Level guests had their own private area that was not interspersed - While we were there, there was entertainment every night not just during the 945pm big show advertised, but also (unadvertised) were very good smaller acts (guitar, sax, singers, etc) at the red or blue bars nightly - 630pm to about 930pm - Hotel is walking distance to the edge of Varadero town - can walk all the way to the artisan market leisurely in about an hour, then a cab or 3-wheeler back to the hotel - Was pleased to see that entertainment was more Cuban/Spanish than earlier visits to Cuba where there was too much "Western" influence - ie hated seeing talented Cubans doing Michael Jackson impressions - Instead of bus pickup to the airport 4 hours before the flight, we took a cab 2 hours before and got there in plenty of time to check in and clear customs - Hotel rooms had full body pillows - loved them!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Excellent Vacation

Just returned from this resort last week This was our second visit last visit was a few years ago as the Pestana and we thought we would come againThe grounds were so well kept and the resort so clean,Our room in building 7 was kept immaculate by our maid and always replenished.The food was plentiful and always found something we liked .The bar staff were so well organized and professional and friendly We especially enjoyed the entertainment in the lobby before the shows . Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Excellent experience, good value for money

I was very happy with my overall stay. My room had been well maintained and there were no issues. The only thing I noticed but did not let it affect my overall experience was that the cleaning staff did not clean the room daily. It appeared as if they just made the beds. There had been hair - my hair, that was never swept for the 4 days I was there. There was some dirt in between the bed and the couch which said that they did not really clean the room. Towels were not changed for clean on [... read more]es. When you go to Cuba, you do not go with high expectation of standards and you will be happy. Food was really not that bad but for Cuban standards. The place was always happening with lots of activities/ entertainment during the day and night. Great place if you want to party and enjoy loud music. I was actually looking for something quieter but I was happy to get the sun, sea and sand! Pools were amazing, beach was heavenly, except that many of the beach beds were broken. Service was excellent !!! overall facilities were the best!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Cheap and super cheerful

This resort was outstanding. The staff is incredible, they go above and beyond to help out. The food was decent and always fresh. The beach is beyond beautiful. The resort is clean and well kept! A few repairs are needed to help prevent some trips or falls. The resort is also wheel chair friendly. Thanks to the staff for a great time.

Playa Costa Verde: A few things to know…

Things are different right now in Cuba. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this resort, there are some things people should know. When we were here last week, each room was provided a third per person of bottled water that you would usually get in Cuba. At best we received two 500 ml bottles of water a day, at worst one bottle -first night no water. Regardless of any other shortage you can make do but you can’t make do without water. However, I am far more comfortable, drinking bottled water in a 3rd world country then depending on whoever happens to be filtering it that day. We have been to Cuba multiple times and this is the first time one of us was sick (after 5 days there), no idea if it was related to the water or not but….. other than that no serious complaint

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful resort

The beaches were exquisite; the staff was always helpful, friendly and efficient. The food was only OK - not great! However, there appeared to be no covid precautions. I wasn't too worried because almost everything was outdoors. The only exception was the dining room that was often crowded and no one was wearing a mask. Three of our group of 5 came back with covid, even though we had multiple vaccinations and wore masks on the plane. I would recommend this resort except for the lack of covid [... read more] protocols, especially when dining. Much more use needs to be made of open well ventilated spaces for dining.

Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful resort

The resort was as beautiful as the photos on the website. The rooms were immaculate and decorated beautifully. The resort staff were friendly and helpful. The pools were huge and lots of chairs were always available. Highly recommend

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort.

I have always stayed at much smaller resorts in my 30+ trips to Cuba, but took a chance on the Playa Pesquero. It was beyond my expectations, the room was large, (2 adults and 1 child), spotlessly clean, the grounds meticulous, and the dining was amazing. During our 1 week stay we did not experience any shortages, plenty of fresh fruit, even apples. As always the Cuban people at the resort were friendly, and pleasant and very helpful. I would not hesitate to return to this resort.

Hotel Bella Costa: Nice resort

We had a great few days at the Iberostar. We stayed on the 5th floor in an ocean front suite. We knew going into the vacation that the hotel was going to be out dated. We came prepared with extras like wash clothes, beach towel, extra toilet paper, hot sauce, ketchup, peanut butter, chips, candies, chocolate... lol The sheets were not fitted or white but we didn't care as long as they were clean. The beach is beautiful and the staff here were very friendly and helpful. The food was fine here [... read more]. We liked the daily barbeque of chicken, pork or beef for lunch. A lot of the same food presented at each buffet but or hot sauce spiced it up. :) Just keep in mind that Cubans do not make very much money for all the hours they work so tipping and bringing little gifts go a long way. We would go back here in the future. We like the smaller not so busy resorts plus this one is the closest one to the beach. We stayed at the Melia Internacional in January. The resort is beautiful and the rooms are new and lovely but they ran out of so many basic things. It's a much larger resort with hundreds of people. We would much rather stay here any day. Just keep in mind this is not Barbados so don't expect things to be any where near a vacation like that. We loved our 6 day trip here and would recommend this resort but please just keep an open mind. You are getting what you pay for. Enjoy!

Melia Costa Rey: Pullman, Cayo Coco -- First Visit -- Had a great time!

Covid made us wait three years for this trip! We eagerly anticipated the opportunity to visit, once again, an island that has been our destination 6 times in the last 20 years. Pullman was recommended by our travel agent, and it did not disappoint. The weather was warm and sunny most days. Occasionally, onshore breezes made lounging by the pool a better choice than the beach. But it wasn't snowing! The staff were great -- warm and welcoming, cheerful and helpful. Their attitude overcame any  [... read more]limitations resulting from supply chains issues caused by Covid. We enjoyed the food. It was plentiful at the buffet, and the several varieties of paella were a personal favourite. Two specialty restaurants -- Cubano and Italiano -- provided delicious meals and more great staff. In fact, at Cubano, all the staff joined us for a selfie to celebrate the meal. I enjoy Cristal and Bucanero, and was pleased to see a traditional Canadian beer -- Moosehead -- in our room mini-bar. We highly recommend hiring a classic car for a trip to the local market. Four of us shared the adventure of a ride in a baby blue Ford convertible for just $5 per person, return. It was one of the highlights of the week. Pullman is a resort we would visit again, and recommend to friends.

Sol Palmeras: Good resort

Although the beach was short, it had plenty of parasols for shade and the sand was nice. It also had activities like paddleboat, kayak, catamaran, volleyball, exercises/stretching... The food was ok for Cuba (papaya, agave, canned pears, canned peaches, watermelon, pineapple, bananas), eggs/omelet for breakfast, pasta bar, pizza, fish station, pork... The "A La Carte" Italian restaurant was the best. All 5 were easy to book as long as you reserved before 9:00. The staff was nice and r [... read more]espectful. They were accommodating for the last day. We were given a room to go change and shower before going to eat and leave for the airport.

Melia Costa Rey: Wonderful solo trip!

The Pullman Collections is an amazing peaceful getaway! This is my 4th visit to the collections and did not disappoint. I came alone this time for a week away. Felt totally safe and had a very relaxing time. Food and drinks were wonderful and all the staff were welcoming as usual. Can’t wait to return to this beautiful resort in December!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Wonderful Holiday

The hotel is dated, but you don’t go for the rooms. Everything is clean. Only issue with our room is that the patio door did not lock well. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Not all drinks available at all bars, so what. Take what’s available you will enjoy it. The pools are great, beach is great, weather is great, people are great. The buffet is ok, some days better than others, you won’t starve. They try their best with what they have available, which changes every day. Melia Internacional: Above expectations

Beautiful resort, only 3 yrs old It is massive so if you are looking for intimacy this is not the resort for you. The place is immaculate as evidenced by the public washrooms Buffets and bars have outdoor seating so you can enjoy the warm climate. All rooms have ocean views so you needn't pay the extra premium for ocean views. Sitting on a narrow peninsula rooms on the so called garden views actually have views of the ocean on the other side of the peninsula. All currencies are acceptable ie Canadian, American and Cuban Pesos. There is a bank on site where you can purchase all of them. Suggest you avoid pesos, you can't sell them and the rate fluctuates depending on who you are buying from Beach is beautiful, clean, you can walk for miles in either direction and the ocean bottom is sandy and firm. Water is warm.
