Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Overall good resort

First time in Mexico. August 14 to 19 for my Birthday. Grounds, public areas and rooms are very nice. We tried 4 a la carte restaurants ( French, Mexican, Stake and Seafood) and all were good. People, worker's on the resort are nice and cheerful. The beach looks nice, but the ocean is full of seaweeds. The water is shallow and you have to walk through seaweeds, which is not pleasant. Pool : Very nice pools, pretty clean, but very crowded on a weekends as all guest are in the water and very few can go to the ocean and it was hot! hot! Pool water was hot as well. Also, I didn't like that people eat on the pool. The grounds around the pool look and get dirty , plus the birds and animals are coming for food. Entertainment: Quite good during the day. Little disappointed how the show stage is plane, but the dancers were OK. Management:My husband lost his band, as he ripped it of the pool walls ( you have to climb to exit, there are few steps only and far from the beach side and shade), and couldn't find it. We had to pay. I think that was not aright way to do it., They should take our explanation in the consideration. Overall we had very nice time, as I was with my kids and husband for a big reason. I would recommend this resort partially. For food , stay and entertainment for example.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Trip

Let's first start with the resort itself. The place is massive so be prepared to walk a lot to get from building to building. If you like to stay at the main pool or the beach, if you're situated in Building 4 or 5, you have a long walk to get to the main buffet or a la carte restaurants for dinner. These are the main pools. I was a bit disappointed to not have a swim up bar, especially since the water in the pool was virtually a hot tub. The Beach: It's seaweed season apparently at the moment. So the water isn't that clear blue colour from your dreams ;) At the start of our trip, the seaweed was in piles along the beach. My guess is they pile it to let it dry because within 2-3 days, it was gone. Despite the water being darker in colour, we still stayed at the beach more than we did the pool. We swam in the ocean multiple times and it was no problem for us. Far more refreshing than going into the hot tub that was the pool. The beach only had one bar which was the only downfall. It was always packed and there were always lots of people at the bar. There's also a great little lagoon to visit. If you're looking at the ocean, turn to your left and walk about 10 minutes. You won't regret visiting this little paradise. The Room: Very well air conditioned. Got too cold at one point. It has everything you need for a standard room. Nothing more, nothing less. Washrooms were great, shower is great. The food: By far the best food I have had at a resort ever. The main buffet near the lobby was a pretty good hike from our room so we typically ate breakfast at the beach buffet. This restaurant became an a la carte at dinner so it's only available for breakfast and lunch. We never really ate lunch there as we'd typically walk to the lobby area to get some drinks at the sports bar before heading to lunch at the main buffet. We ate dinner at the seafood a la carte (beach buffet during the day) first. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I'd put in that middle area that you'll be content with but won't have good things to say. The food tasted good, it just didn't have enough seafood for me to call it seafood. We did the Mexican a la carte next which was amazing. really good food and great vibe in the restaurant. The last a la carte we did was Italian. This was also really really good. Very romantic setting if you're celebrating anything special. There was also a french a la carte and a steakhouse which we were unable to try because we had booked excursions and got back late.But I heard both are fantastic. Staff: Contrary to some reviews we read - we never had a single issue with staff. They are super nice and helpful. The only thing to be aware of is some of them are a bit aggressive trying to sell you an upgrade. It starts off with an invite for free vouchers at the spa and breakfast to find out more about there VIP program. We said no to all of it but from what we heard, it ends up being a presentation for time shares. Accept the offer at your own risk. We also declined to deal with staff for excursions. We booked everything through our travel company which was west jet vacations. They had a rep on the resort all day to help and answer all our questions. The only negative for service was at checkout. We called in advance to have a cart come pick us up at our building so we didn't have to walk with our luggage. We waited for almost 40 min and no cart came so we decided just to walk instead. Excursions to Consider when visiting Riviera Maya: Island of Cozumel, Ruins in Coba, Ruins in Tulum - The island of Cozumel has a secret beach you'll want to visit 10 times over. Overall we had a great time and experience. Would I go back to this resort? probably not but we're also the type of people who like to try new resorts. None of them are ever perfect anyways. We'll definitely visit Mexico again though.

This hotel was great it did have its positive’s and negative’s, bed could have been more comfortable..... Great place to spend an anniversary ❤️❤️ Last night they gave us a complimentary night at their BLUE DIAMOND BOUTIQUE HOTEL ❤️❤️Wow was resort. Would totally recommend and would go again

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great Vacation

Everything was great about this resort. But the best part was the beach, that's what I go for usually on my vacations. Staff was great, very fast room service, pleasant staff at front desk. Location of the hotel is great, it is about 30 min from airport and close to a shopping mall, where a lot of people, tourists and locals came out in the evening. Nice social place and very safe. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good resort!

First off, we had a great stay and enjoyed our time at thoroughly. The rooms and resort were very clean and the staff were amazing. The food was good but they didn't serve enough mexican inspired dishes witch was a let down for us. We only went to a couple of the restaurants (steak house, seafood and French) and we didn't enjoy them that much. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Excellent

My husband and I just return from Blue Bay Villas Dorados and we loved the resort . Resort was small well landscaped and very clean and the people who are working there were very kind and pleasant and helpful in any situation. Food was excellent and plenty of variety in a lovely setting restaurant. My husband and I definitely will return and recommend this resort for any age group.

The rooms were really nice and clean and the beds were comfy. The food was really good. The resort itself is massive and kudos to the shuttle drivers who do their best to get guests to a from where they need to be. Service is really good at the buffets. A la carte restaurants were good with special mention for the French restaurant which was excellent.

I’m nit going to say this hotel was excellent because it wasn’t. The activities were great, the bar tenders by the smaller pool were great, food was awesome! But the pool side service never came to us, servers in the buffet for dinner didn’t care. The pools were really gross because they weren’t filled up enough and bring filtered properly. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Love this resort! Beautiful ❤️

We went for a friend's wedding and it was beautiful ❤️ Nothing is perfect and of course there were some things that could be better, like better maintenance on the 3 pools. The service was great and I give the food a 8 out of 10. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. This was my second time at this hotel and I would go back again!!!!

The resort was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The alacart restaurants were exceptional. The beach was very small but with all the hurrcanes that is expected..PRIORITY CHECK-IN WAS GREAT

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: A Great Week at this Resort

This resort was wonderful, rite from the main desk, the staff at the buffets, the cleaning staff, entertainment staff,bar staff, the rooms were very nice and clean and the beach area was awsum. We made a room change because I had canes for walking and wanted to be central to the dining area and the beach and their was no problem with that being done and on the 3rd day, our hand held shower line started leaking, we reported it to the front desk going to breakfast and it was replaced within 45 min [... read more]utes,( NO PROBLEM ). The buffet staff were nice and quick to respond to what we wanted and the food was nothing to complain about rite from breakfast, dinner and supper, we had some fussy eaters with us and their were ( NO PROBLEM ) with the food. The cleaning staff were in our room before 10AM and that was a first for us at any other resort and the room was cleaned as our first day. Jorge and his entertainment staff were always on the move to keep you active and entertained, especially Luis which we seen every day and was very entertaining to all of us in our group. The bar staff was great and friendly with one leaving the bar to get more white wine for my wife and I did not get her name, she was at the bar by the stage next to the pool bar.The beach was clean, the water was warm and the shelters were OK but could use a little work to keep the material on the shelters.Ceasar was very entertaining and helpful in booking a trip to town for 6 of us on Friday and checked in everyday to answer any questions we mite have. We had some photos done by Everest which were excellent and he entertained us in doing the photos, lots of laughs. We had a great week, ( 6 CANADIANS ) from April 9 to the 16 and would do it again.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Slow, rude and thief’s

The hotel itself is nice, the grounds are vast and there is a lot of wildlife which was neat. The staff were polite for the most part but not very helpful. The basin fell out of my bathroom sink and flooded our hotel room. 2 rooms later I was placed into a room that had not yet been cleaned and forced to wait 40 minutes for a room key as the gentleman moving our luggage only had him master key on him. No one arrived with these room keys so I journied to the front lobby for them. This room also h [... read more]ad drainage issues and the water would pool around your feet when you shower. Another person with our group was taken to 5 different rooms upon arrival because they had over booked the resort and each one they took him to was occupied. I had inserts for my heels that were stolen out of 2 pairs of my shoes. The service at bars was incredibly slow I think mostly because they looked to be understaffed. Room service is a joke do yourself a favour and make it to the “late night buffet” if your hungry. The first time i ordered my food never came. The second time I was hung up on, half of my food never arrived they changed my order without contacting me as they were out of certain items and when I called to find out where the rest of my meal was I was told it was on its way yet it never arrived. In terms of food all of the restaurants were pretty great, although few know how to properly cook a steak. Also pack extra lighters I lost all of mine and had to pay 18$ American to buy one at the gift shop..

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great first time in mexico

My stay at the Blue Bay Grand resort in Mexico was great! But what made it so great was the staff; they were so friendly, helpful and amazing. The resort was modern and had lots to do. Food was awesome and the property was very clean. The only thing I would mention is that the beach had a lot of rocks and seaweed compared to the neighboring resorts (but the pools made up for it) Would definitely come back.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: What a great week!

We spent 7 nights at the Blue Bay Villas Doradas (April 10-17) and it was fantastic! We started out with a little doubt on the day we arrived. We found our room and discovered it was on the ground floor although I had requested a second floor room. In the end we were actually super happy to have had the ground floor (room 3110). Our room faced the edge of the resort grounds so, although it was near the pool area, we could very rarely hear any commotion from the activities that went on over t [... read more]here. The only downside to this room location is that on the other side of the fence that surrounds the resort, was the entrance driveway for the next resort, so the buses coming and going were a little noisy. Not that big of a deal as we didn't spend much time sitting outside the room. When we arrived, the safe and fridge in our room were not working, but we let them know and they brought replacements for both right away. We found the food to be ok, nothing that blew our hair back... but we are also on a limited diet so we did find ourselves eating the same things over and over again. Perhaps if we had been able to broaden our variety, we would not have been tired of it after the week. The Presidente beer is quite good, and we got our money's worth there for sure! The pool area never seemed over crowded and there always seemed to be chairs available. Same with the beach, never too crowded. The service was amazing! The staff at this resort are top notch! We did go out on the Catamaran and we purchased the tour from a vendor on the beach. His name is Cesar and he is GREAT! The tour was super fun! Snorkeling in two spots at Sosua Bay, lunch and drinks all included! The crew on the boat were a lot of fun as well. The night time disco and beach party were a blast! There is a mall very close by that sells loads of touristy trinkets/beach wear/alcohol/etc. We made several trips there (less than 5 minute walk). Other than the resort on-site cash bar, there were no premium drinks available (that we discovered) and as I like to start my day with a coffee and baileys while on vacation, I opted to buy a bottle from the mall at a very good price and keep it in my room rather than pay for the drinks at the resort cash bar. We did get roped in to the pitch to join the resort's Circle One program, however, Kelly (the gentleman pitching the program) was understanding and polite when we cut the meeting short as we were not interested. He was not pushy at all. I've only been home for a few days and I miss it already!!! Great resort, wouldn't hesitate to go again, although we do have some other areas we want to check out before returning to resorts we have been to already.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great times at Blue Bay

Recently returned from Blue Bay had a wonderful seven days there. The staff go above and beyond from the waiters, animation team, front desk and all the house keepers. The food is delicious and abundant. My only complaint would be with top management as they need to replace the canvas on many sun beds and provide more shaded areas on the beach. Blocks 5,6,7and 8 are quieter. We enjoyed a walk daily and the mall is a three minute walk.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Our Home away From Home

My wife and I have just returned from our absolute favourite vacation resort. We were only home for nine days between the last two visits and are looking forward to returning again soon. Everything about this place screams five star, the well manicured grounds, the clean rooms, the excellent staff, from the reception desk to the ash tray cleaner. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Had a wonderful time, this resort can use a makeover

We had a wonderful time and fabulous weather! There were good and not so good things. As a result I would rate this hotel a 3 star. Staff here were all amazing, friendly and service oriented...boy they work hard in the heat! The big dissappointment was the noise. The hotel was overbooked during our stay as it was spring break. There was lots of noisy drunken students in our building, slamming doors, loud when they came in at 4/5am. In general the pool area seemed understaffed or unable to upkeep the pool area, cleanup of glasses, etc. didn't get done. Seems to be lots of broken beach chairs and in general lack of chairs. There were workers trying to clean the pool by hand with a scrubby sponge, I wanted to go buy the poor guy a deck brush with a handle. It appeared people complained as some supervisors came to the pool and things were cleaned up and addressed. The food and drinks were ok but nothing like other resorts I have previously stayed at. There were good choices and it was easy to reserve the alacartes. Entertainment was ok, there is a band that played most nights in the black white bar. I would not return to this particular resort unless it had improvements.

Great resort small perfect for older couples to get around. The staff was amazing. Really nice beach lots of water sports to do lots of tours. We went to paradise island had so much fun. My husband lost his sunglasses in the ocean and a employee that was in charge of the water sports Felix put his goggles on and went looking for them in the ocean. He found them! My favourite was breakfast smoothies they made fresh right in front of you with fresh fruit that I picked with honey and almond milk. They had lots of fresh fruit everyday. The alacart restaurants were great also they had a seafood, Japanese and steakhouse. The fried chicken they had at the beach snack bar was delicious if you just wanted to get a quick bite to eat st the beach. The negative part about going to this hotel where the locals on the beach trying to sell stuff, braiding hair and even doing pedicures on the beach which I would never get because of sanitary reasons. I don’t understand how people would get pedicures done without the tools being sanitized properly. They would be very aggressive to wanting people to buy stuff from them even coming up to you when your reading and having a nap. It was very annoying and it would be the whole day different people bothering us. Another thing that annoyed us was this was a all inclusive resort but the lobby bar drinks we had to pay for them. We never saw people get drinks there so I don’t see the point of having that bar there waste of space. In general we had a great time the weather was great and I had great company to share my holiday with made more great memories that’s what life’s about😀

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing Resort!

Hotel grounds were extremely clean. Food and bars was awesome and fully stocked. Employees, bartenders were awesome as well and very friendly. There was no restrictions on how many a Al carte resturants you could eat at even though all tour resorts books told you 3. Be careful on paying for upgrades ahead of time for additional a al carte. Beach was good, pool was as well but busy.
