Over all it was a great trip. Dreams Onyx was a actual dream. Air Transat needs a little focused on logistics. Was sitting in a bus at punta Cana airport waiting to go to resort for an hour and a half. But the resort made up for that lack of organization from Air Transat. We had the preferred club package, it’s worth the extra cost. Kevin from trip central made booking and searching so easy. His recommendation was perfect.

Dreams Curacao Resort Spa and Casino: Well needed vacation
Stayed at dreams spa and casino in curacao, amazing staff/rooms/beaches and food. Weather was perfect covid protocols were top notch, everyone was happy to help with any issues that came up. The entertainment on site was also a big bonus. 10/10 would go again
So many great things to say about this resort, but a few not so great.
Great:
- The food. High quality and freshness. The baked goods could be sold at any big city bakery. There was a great selection of wines at the a la carte restaurants, but honestly, the house wines were tastier than any restaurant I'd been to. A great choice for us non experts!
- The service. Everyone was friendly, helpful and patient. Any questions or concerns were addressed, whether it was simply keeping our glasses fi[... read more]lled, confirming excursion details or arranging our PCR tests.
- The rooms. Beds were super comfy with all the necessary supplies. We saw that some rooms were even set up with an available hammock on the balcony. Will be aiming for one of those if we go back.
- Safety. Protocols were clear, hand sanitizer was readily available and masks were made available if needed. Every area looked and smelled clean. While not brand new, the resort was obviously well cared for.
Not so great:
- The company that runs the resort tries to sell a membership to its family of resorts, but they're not upfront about it. For those who book rooms under the Preferred Club, you're greeted upon arrival by a company rep, who books you for a breakfast that appears to just be an information session. You're told it's just 90 mins. What we weren't told was it would be off site, 30 mins away, be an aggressive sales pitch and would end up taking 3+ hours of our day. Thankfully, it didn't cut into our 7 days of relaxation too much, but others we spoke to felt robbed of quality vacation time. We told our tale to other couples who decided to cancel the "breakfast." It was the only unpleasant experience we had.
- Evening entertainment could be LOUD, but stops right at 11pm. Just something to keep in mind if travelling with young kids, nursing a "headache" or have an early departure.
Tips:
- The Preferred Club guests have access to two smaller, quieter pools, but it's not monitored. They take your room# for restaurants so they can tell if you're preferred or not, but the pool areas aren't monitored. So while the Seaside Grill is open for breakfast & lunch for Preferred guests only, if you're sitting around the pool, you can order from the waiter and eat at your pool chair.
- If you want to save a lounge chair, the bath towels disappear quick & EARLY. Take a towel back to your room the night before so you don't have to wait for a fresh supply the next day.
- Do not choose the row of chairs closest to the ocean, as you'll be a target for all the vendors. ALL the vendors. Every 30 seconds. There seems to be an unspoken rule that they don't go past this row, so sit a little further back. They work hard, but the trinkets are worthless. I did witness some amazing braid work, though, so those services may be more worth it.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great resort
The resort was beautiful, clean and staff was very friendly. The room was amazing with a double sink in the bathroom and two full closets. The food was good but hard to get into the restaurants. Some had a 1 1/2 hr wait to get in. The buffet was rarely open at night so all guests had to use the specialty restaurants. In addition at least one restaurant was closed too what slowed everything down even more. The nighttime shows are at 8:30 what made it hard to get to with it being slow to get dinne[... read more]r. The shows were disappointing in comparison with some other resorts.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Relaxing Family Vacation
Travelled as a family of 5. Stayed from Oct 23 to 30th. If you’re reading this review and you’ve already booked; relax, you will have a great time! If you are reading this review, trying to decide whether to book, then please continue to read!
Pros – We upgraded to Preferred Club upon arrival. Travelling as a family, this was a PRO! We were assigned Roberto as our personal concierge and he was amazing. We used WhatsApp to communicate which alleviated the need for us to having to contact[... read more] the 'front desk' with any questions/concerns. We were able to navigate the resort and access a variety of amenities easily by sending Roberto a message! He responded immediately and was always available to help! Another huge Pro of Preferred Club was the Seaside Grill restaurant. Available to preferred members only for breakfast and lunch it was a lovely spot! We had breakfast there every day! All staff at the Seaside are awesome but a special shout out to Luis who went above and beyond.
Preferred club room placement was nice, we were in the center facing the pool, rooms 5249 and 5253.
The resort was spotless, staff was friendly. They take Covid measurements very seriously and we felt safe! There were some exceptional staff we’d like to mention: Louisa in the Sports Bar, Jose at the Cabana, Cristian – bartender and Raul at Fusion.
Room was super clean. Housekeeping was fantastic. Turndown service a nice touch!
All restaurants have QR codes that you scan as you enter (usually on the tables as well). There are no paper menus.
The lazy river pool concept was great! We brought floaties with us. There is a pump, free of charge to use at the beach hut (they also sell floaties there but bring your own if you can).
Beach was clean, resort staff friendly, engaging and kind! The activities team tried to get people to participate but they weren’t pushy! The vendors walking the beach were pushy but a ‘no thanks’ seemed to do the trick for most of them.
Beach Cabana – Amazing!! What a way to spend the day😊
Cons – Food. I hate to say but the food was quite disappointing. There is always something to eat; you will never go hungry but if you’re a foodie and/or food is an important part of your trip, I wouldn’t recommend Dreams Royal Beach for this reason. Specifically, the buffet was not a good experience and we tried to avoid it. Possibly it was expectations? I thought Dreams would be comparable to Moon Palace or Bahia Principe resorts in terms of choices/quality of the buffet. Even though I read reviews claiming the buffet to be small, I thought people were just nitpicking. I realize now, they weren't. Options in buffet were limited and for all the amazing organization in other aspects of this resort, the buffet is seriously lacking. The couple times we went, lineups were long and disorganized as there were only one or two staff trying their best to serve everyone. Once Covid protocols are lifted, the staff being required to serve at the buffet won’t be an issue, but until that happens, management needs to address this. Food in the restaurants was good in comparison to the buffet. Some items at some restaurants were fantastic but unfortunately, it wasn’t consistent.
Drink service at both the pool and beach were spotty at best. This was not an issue for us; we don’t mind walking up and grabbing a drink and there were bars everywhere, you never had far to go but if you are expecting to be waited on for drink service, you will be disappointed.
Entertainment – Shows were decent, not fabulous, but good! They have both an 'Explorer's Club' for smaller children and a ‘Core Zone’ teens club for tweens/teens. They seem to do a lot with smaller kids, but not so much with the tween/teen age group. This was a huge disappointment as one of the main reasons I booked with Dreams was the Teen Club and activities. Possibly there just wasn’t a lot of teens while we were there, but there were no activities scheduled for teens. The staff at the Core Zone did not engage at all and it was more of a ‘babysitting’ vibe as they didn't interact.
There were these fun little pop-up things daily (a dessert bar on the lawn, chess/dominos in the theatre) but I have no idea how you’d find out about them. We seemed to stumble onto them. It would have been nice to know about them. We scanned the QR code and had the daily activities on our devices, but clearly, we were missing something.
In room Showers – there are no doors or fans. Every time someone had a shower the entire room was steamed up for quite some time and the floor was soaked. The bathroom was esthetically pleasing but not functional.
We had a very nice time. This resort is spotless, the staff is friendly and engaging. The beach is beautiful, and the activities are fun! It was an enjoyable family vacation during a global pandemic.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Great Staff
Staff was pleasant and helpful. The resort was clean and they did a great job at making us feel like they were taking every precaution for Covid. The food was average and as someone who can not eat gluten, I was limited on what I could eat. There was complete confusion on what I could eat at the buffet by all of the staff so I wasn't able to enjoy lunch. The restaurants in the evening were able to accommodate. The entertainment was very disappointing. Also, the pool bars we closed on the poolsid[... read more]e of the bars. Booking our covid test to return to Canada was difficult and they didn't think they would have time even though we booked as soon as we arrived and were not able to book until we got to the hotel. A few days later they were able to fit us in early in the morning two days before our flight and said we'd have our results by the next day at 6 pm. We didn't get them until 8 am of the day we were leaving. Everything worked out, but it was very stressful which isn't what you want your vacation to be.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Always Feels Like Home
This was our fourth trip to Dreams Palm Beach and we were constantly reminded why we keep coming back. The staff at Dreams, from the Preferred Club, to the restaurants, to the cleaning staff and maintenance crews, everyone is so welcoming and always willing to greet you with an enthusiastic 'Hola!' or 'Buenos Dias!' Everyone takes pride in what they do, making you feel like you are truly part of their family. A few very special people we'd like to thank:
Wilson - It doesn't get any better tha[... read more]n Wilson at the Preferred Club. He greets us with open arms when we arrive and from that moment forward he treats you like a part of his family. He is one of the main reasons we didn't want to go anywhere else for our first trip out of COVID, and why we keep coming back. He never stops working and is full of surprises. It is my honor to call him a friend!
Pablo - working behind the scenes as the Social Media Coordinator - my wife's BFF at Dreams - one of the most pleasant and caring people we've met at Dreams - we only wish we were able to see him more often this trip - we know we will keep in touch!
Emillio - If you hear anyone say 'EXCELLENTE' at Dreams, know that they probably heard it first from Emillio - working the Preferred Club Adult's section - Emillio is beloved by everyone he interacts with. He does his work with pride and treats the Preferred Club like his home. Emillio is as close as they come to a celebrity at Dreams - in a word Rockstar!
Ariady - 'Ari' is Wilson's partner in crime at the check-in desk. A great big teddy-bear with a warm heart, always quick with a joke and never without a smile on his face. We remember Ari as a bit shy when we first met him - happy to say he has burst from that shell and is just a pleasure to be around!
Cristina - our hostess with the mostess, at the Seaside Grill (SSG) - amazing smile and welcomed us with enthusiasm on every visit. We start and end every trip with a visit to the SSG, and Cristina is one of the reasons why!
Yeimey - also at the SSG was also terrific and helpful, she was super friendly and made sure we were well hydrated with every meal :)
Juan and Ivan - two more of our SSG favorites welcomed us home and we are so happy we were able to see them again this visit - we were just a little sad we didn't get to see them more often.
Ricardo - I think he has found a way to clone himself as he is seemingly everywhere, from SSG to the restaurants and the buffet - Ricardo is always on the move and such a pleasure to interact with.
Demetrio - also a man on the move - he's got a VIP touch and makes himself available for whatever you need, whenever you bump into him.
Valter Espinoza - Dreams Palm Beach General Manager - while I've never spoken to him personally, we wanted to note that he runs a tremendous operation and you can tell he leads by example; not expecting anyone on staff to do something he wouldn't do himself. Example: in the middle of a tropical storm, we witnessed Valter with a stack of abandoned poolside cups and an errant floaty under his arm at the Preferred Club pool. Drenched from head to toe but making sure the grounds were kept free of debris and looking pristine once the sun was ready to come out again.
A few new faces that we enjoyed on this trip include:
Naomi - our server at El Patio and also working the breakfast buffet - it was nice to see more female representation on the server side of things and she was so sweet and friendly - personality++ - can't wait to see her again.
Geichel - A bundle of enthusiasm, working at Bordeaux, Portofino and the buffet - A baseball fan, so we instantly connected and full of energy; a pleasure to interact with, whenever we had the chance.
Carlos Alfredo - Pool side at the Preferred Club adult's pool (when Emillio is on break) and at Portofino - 'Yeah Baby' this kid has charisma and just puts a smile on your face when you see him.
Manuel - Last here, but not least, our AMAZING room attendant. It was so refreshing to come back from a morning dip each day to a room that felt as fresh on day 7 as it did on the day we arrived - he takes pride in his work and it shows.
We love Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana and can't wait to be back... thank goodness that our next trip is less than four months away - we're already booked for December 2021.
See you all soon family!!

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Amazing Resort - Highly recommend!
We stayed here from March 7-14, 2020. This is our 2nd time to La Romana area but 1st to this resort. We were upgraded to a 2-room suite, which was very nice. The grounds, pools, beach were all very clean and well kept. There was many staff, which are all very friendly, no need to wait for anything. We had no issues with the food, it was very fresh & lots to choose from. Love the idea that there is no need to book a la carte restaurants and you are seated by staff for all restaurants (even [... read more]buffets). Overall, a great resort!

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Beautiful resort
The rooms are pretty big and spotless clean. The sheets were crisp and white and changed every day even if we didn’t really them to be. The grounds were immaculate and with the lights and trees, it looks like a postcard! Very beautiful and very clean. The staff are fun and friendly and very efficient. The pool activities were fun and varied and the entertainment staff worked really hard to entertain us. Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Good resort
The rooms were clean and air conditioning was cold. The grounds were well kept. You can tell that this resort is getting older but it is well maintained. The pool is awesome but it can be difficult to get a lounger at times. The beach is great but the swimming area is not. It has tons of rocks and you have to be very careful where you walk. The area is also small and if your into snorkeling the water has a lot of suspended sand in it and it is difficult to see under water at times. There is lots[... read more] of restaurants and there serve good food. For the most part it's not too difficult to get into the a la cartes and your just walk up, no reservations. The kids club is awesome and my son loved it. Theres a preferred club at this resort and they try to get a bunch of extra money out of you as soon as you get there. I don't like resorts with this kind of system as I don't like feeling like a second class citizen at a resort and I wouldn't return or recommend this resort simply because of this. Overall I enjoyed my time there but I will not be returning.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Always under construction
Pool was nice but swim up closed for 2 days for construction.
Beach was nice but very rocky once in water.
Food was delicious but some restaurants closed including buffet during our 10 days stay. No notice in advance as to which would be closed each day. Even music/sports bar closed two nights. Front desk didn't even know.
There was construction somewhere in the complex for almost all of our vacation. and we were never notified at time at complex nor when booking (through our agent).

First room had great location - especially for sitting with a coffee and watching sun rise. Got moved a few days in - told there was a water issue close to our room - second room was supposed to be an upgrade but it wasn't. Room was identical but ceiling was cracked, lamp shades were stained, view was blocked by trees and floor never got washed (in bathroom) for the entire stay. All that was good was the clean towels daily.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Beautiful resort.
We are big fans of the Am resorts we have stayed at Dreams palm Dreams Punta Cana and the Now Larimar. So we thought we would give the Dominicus a try. The resort was very nice and clean but had a different layout. Dreams Huatulco: Good Resort with potential
The Dreams resort on first blush is lovely, the staff at the resort I can’t say enough good things about they were outstanding and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time! On closer inspection the property is starting to show its age and is in need of painting, repairs to floor titles and toilet seats are needed on all toilets. The rooms were clean but initially musty smelling until aired out. The constant fight for beach chairs and access to palapas or umbrellas is ridiculous eit[... read more]her buy more chairs and umbrellas or limit the number of chairs people can lay claim to, I shouldn’t have to get up before 6am each morning while on vacation to ensure we had chairs and shade available either on the beach or by the pools. Dreams Curacao Resort Spa and Casino: Nice resort
The hotel was very nice and quite small so quiet. They are trying hard to get organized but still have a ways to go. The dining facilities are adequate but I found the hot food on the buffet was always lukewarm at best. There are few restaurants on site and one of the nicest was closed 3 of our 7 nights which was disappointing. We only found out with two days to go that there was an al a carte lunch available at one of the outdoor restaurants. It would be nice if there was better communicat[... read more]ion or something posted in the lobby area as to what is open that day for lunch or dinner and then you could make choices. The pool and beach was nice but there was no place to go for a walk along the beach as it was quite small. The house wine was not good at all and buying the premium wines each day was quite expensive and they were always out of the ones you chose. We were at the resort during Carnival so the hotel shuttle was not running for 3 days during this event. The only way into town was by taxi which was very expensive. Again we wished this would have been communicated to us when we arrived so we could have made plans for another day. The weather is wonderful!

Dreams Huatulco: Relaxing vacation
Enjoyed are stay here food was good and lots of variety. A quiet resort with some families but mostly aged over 45. Enjoyed the walks on the beach and kayaking.
Did notice people putting out towels on several chairs and not using them but that is just disrespectful on the part of the people not the resort
