Great resort

We had a beautiful third floor room overlooking the main pool! The food was very good and lots of choice. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We got to know several by their first names. Grounds are well kept and the beach was the best. No debris! We stayed two weeks and celebrated our 47th aniversary in style! This was our second trip in recent years and plan to return soon. Great Food and Staff

The resort is quite beautiful but requires some upgrading. Had a few problems with the A/C leaking water and the key cards. The fantastic thing about the resort is the staff and the food. I would recommend this resort because of these 2 factors.

We were at Gran Ventana last week. All I can say it was amazing. The resort was lovely, the beach was beautiful and the food was amazing. We were impressed by the fact that the food was always hot no matter what time of day we went to eat. The staff was always friendly and accommodated our every need. When we booked we requested a room in the Cataliona area on the third floor away from the noise of the nightly entertainment and a king size bed. Great resort and Great value

Recommended by our Trip Central agent Miranda at Jackson Square in Hamilton. I was hesitant and preferred another Hotel and trusted her suggestion. Miranda and the Holiday Inn in Montego Bay did not dissapoint at all. For a Budget all inclusive in Jamaica were were very happy. 1) Rooms. Updated with flat screen, air and Safe. Nothing great but Ok. Lifeguards were plentiful. 3.5. 4) Adult Pool. Had a very small Hot tub in the corner. The Pool is tiny. Has a tiny swim up bar. This pool would be rated at 2. Lots of tanning beds and seats. Security as well . 5) Beach. Was very nice and close to our rooms. Nice soft brown sand and was raked and cleaned every 3 days or so. Lots of beds available. Had Snorkeling, kayaking and boating included. There was also a Island beach. Just a walk across there beack to get to it. Very nice. We spent most of our time at the Island. 4 to 4.5 6) Amenities. More than expected and even a small little room with slot machine.3.5 to 4 7) Layout. Well designed and easy to get around. 4 8) Check in and out was easy and fast. Very friendly and servive was prompt.4.5 9) Nightlife. Not much and the pools closed early. That we did not like. Not the greatest for a Party hotel. 2 to 2.5 10) Staff. Most were very friendly and kind. A few did not care at all. Expecting tips and more. A few to many but MOST were appreciative and fun. You will get this anywhere. We always left a small tip as they are paid poorly and work very hard for the hotels and to please us. Without us they do not survive. 3.5-4 11) Breakfast, Lunch and supper Brunch. Overall food was Fair to good at the Brunches. A few things changed every day but not much. Nice seating food was usually warm at best. Almost 0 Bugs. That was great as it was an indoor ourdoor combo. 3 Italian Restaurant was the only A la Cart we went to. 3 Times we went. The food was remarkable. Great steak, Lasgnia and Chicken dishes. Great service and cooked to perfection. A really nice surprise. 4.5-5 11) OVER ALL. Had a great time and this is a Great do not even think about it deal in a budget hotel. We had a great stay and would go back in a heartbeat. Overall 4 There are some aging issues and not a fully loaded or custom Hotel. So some reviewers are really not fair. We loved it. Simple. Beautiful site and nice beach........

Firth I want to say that the hotel is an old construction but it doesn't means it is in bad conditions, on the contrary, those installations are well maintained and clean, every day you can see the hotel personal checking each room and cleaning. Gran Ventana beach resort has a beautiful beach witch offer a pleasurable site for relax and enjoy the sun, sand and sea. it swimming pool offer a safe place for children and adults, while you enjoy your favorite cocktail. Any way our experience in this Hotel was amazing, me and my family were 10 days for an excellent price but apart of all the treatment of the personal's hotel was the best has ever had, so kind, so nice, very attentive at every moment that you need them. I think that is best value for those vacation, the real warm they offer at the tourist. My best wishes for all those people whom work hard to please at many kind of tourist. Just one more: I'd like to give an idea regards to the people working in the beach, we understand the right that they have to work, but I think some tourist don't like someone each minute offering something that they don't want, so my advise for the management is keep those workers on a place where the tourist can reach them voluntarily (closely). I mean, a place for massage, for hair style, another one for jewelry and stuff like that. And for finish, we got the best vacations in a island with the best service. Congratulations.....

Not the best service

The hotel itself was nice looking and kept clean but there were many challenges. 1. We had 4 rooms booked as a family and and total of 7 rooms with extended family. Even after phone calls and emails requesting at least 2 rooms close to each other on the same floor we were scattered across the resort. When asked to move the 2 rooms together Angelo was really rude and refused to even look to see if anything can be done. We were a party of 23 people and many of us had the same issue with the same individual. We did finally get some of the rooms moved on the 3rd day of stay making it very difficult to watch 4 kids and an infant. 2. The rooms were not cleaned every day. The towels were always not put in the room during the cleaning. Sometimes we get a couple of towels but mostly would have to call and request to get them. It was hard to get a hold of someone on the phone as well. 3. We reserved dinner at the 3 restaurants and had issues with 2 of them. One (Italian) of them it took so long to bring out the food that the kids were hungry and sleepy. The Grill did not have a couple of the items on the menu available that night including the grilled fish which is what most of us wanted since we don't eat meat. They mixed up our reservation time and had to seat us outside and kept forgetting to check in on us. Overall we had a good time but the challenges caused a lot of frustration. The buffet had a good selection of food but the service is no where near expected. Will not be returning to this resort again.

Horrible Resort

Very noisy, no ar conditioning in public areas, they don't care about the guests. Very expensive tours and trips compared with exactly the same trips offered in other places around. The food, OMG!! Couldn't be worse! no varieties, badly prepared, no taste at all. In addition, food poisoning. The rooms are ok and the service is ok too. The resort is small and it doesn't offer quality for the guests. The gym is really rough and the drinks are as horrible as the food. Amazing experience

The hotel me and my friends stayed at was the VH gran ventana. This resort is visually appealing and provides all the resources to have a good time. The only negative aspect I can think of was the rocky beach. Besides that great resort, great experience

Awesome resort

When you drive up to the resort it doesn't look like much from the street, however once inside it is awesome. Great food, something there for everyone, very friendly and accommodating staff, drinks are great, just the right size resort to relax. Beach has a lot of vendors, but politely say no thanks and they will continue on they're way. I would highly recommend this resort, amazing bang for your buck.

Excellent resort

The VH Gran Ventana beach resort was an amazing experience. The staff was very professional and friendly . The food was great and the entertainment was phenomenal. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone interested in a relaxing experience.

Was not impressed ;(

Rude staff, terrible customer service! Hotel needs a lot of updating, pillows needs to be thrown out and burned!!!! Bring your own pillow if you want to sleep. Theirs feel like sleeping on rocks!!! Beach was ok, food was excellent!

Great Resort!

Spent a week (Apr 28/17 to May 5/17) at the VH Gran Ventana and had a great time. No real issues with our room, nothing broken or leaking, and the location (ground floor at the end of a block of rooms) was perfect. However it would have been nice to have had a dresser for our clothes rather than having to leave them in suitcase. Enjoyed the buffet, good variety and plenty of food. Had no problem finding loungers around the pool, however, it you wanted one under an umbrella they were hard come by. The same with the beach but you could position yourself higher up from the water under trees for shade. The ocean was super with little to no seaweed. There was a different show each night, some better than others, but all enjoyable and there were games etc. around the pool and beach everyday if you wished to participate or just fun to watch. There were only two issues that come to mind. On the weekends the locals come to stay at the hotel and kind of take it over and the other issue was that it was a very humid time of the year and the air conditioning kept you cool but didn't remove the moisture so you bathing suit never really dried and your clothes felt damp. Would we return to the VH Gran Ventana again, yes with no hesitation!

Had a blast even in the rain

Excellent resort. Best food I ever had in an all inclusive. The staff is really nice and awesome entertainment. The room are nice (we were lucky to be in a renovated building, ask to be in Loana). The resort is small so you dont have to walk long distance to go somewhere. The downfall was that it rained for the 7 days we were there 🤣

Much, much more than we expected!

This resort far exceeded our expectations in all aspects. The food was wonderful, hot and varied in the buffet! The Ocean Grill food was exceptional! This resort was so clean and the staff, from the gardener to the front desk and everyone in between, were so friendly and helpful. Our room designation was mixed up and the front desk quickly corrected it AND gave us ocean view to compensate for our troubles. The beach was clean, and very close to everything! Overall Good Experience

My boyfriend and I went to the VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort from April 21-28, 2017. We had a great time, but not all turned out as we had expected. The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff was on top of everything and very friendly and they keep every location around the resort clean. Our room had a King sized bed (Premium Suite), was cleaned daily by the maids and water and towels restocked. We also got a thrid floor room by the quite pool which was nice due to the loud entertainment in the oth [... read more]er section of the resort at later hours. The only issues with our room was the bathroom sink leaked around it when you turned the water on for any length of time and would drip onto the floor. This was annoying. We also had a day where a pipe had broke in the building and caused us not to have water in the shower. The front desk gave us a key to another room to go shower in and it was back on by that evening.The balcony view looked out to a field with a beautiful mountainous background. The safe cost an extra $16 which was a bit annoying, as they should just include it in the cost of the vacation. The theater area of the resort offers free wifi, but is very slow and does not always want to connect. I ended up purchasing the wifi for around $45 Canadian for the week, which made it so I could connect anywhere on the resort. The only annoying thing with that was when you "lock" your phone and then go back in, sometimes the wifi disconnects and you have to go through your web browser and put the password credentials back in. They do a good job with daily activities and entertainment! I did the water Zumba class with Amber and she is fantastic and energetic at it. She really gets you moving with a smile! The pool entertainment throughout the day was always funny, entertaining and engaging with people. The staff do a good job at rounding people up to participate! You can also do daily Bingo, dance lessons and watch a nightly show. In our case, we ended up doing Karaoke, that was fun! The food was of a wide variety, but this is where I (and my boyfriend), but mostly I had many issues. I have many food allergies (mainly milk) and so not knowing what was in things was a struggle. I went for foods that were seemingly safe, but ended up with a lot of upset stomach issues throughout the trip. We found it better to eat almost more unhealthy while there (fries, burgers, bread, fruits, fajitas) versus the vegetables and salads, as they seemed to upset us the most. We both had one full day wrote off due to our stomach and felt off the remainder of the days! We also found this caused us unable to drink, which was half the excitement of doing an all exclusive trip, so this was very frustrating and disappointing. The beach is nice, theres quite a bit of sea weeds that floats by if the wind picks up but it wasn't too much of an issue! The beach was also very busy and windy so we mainly lounged by the pool. The pool area fills up very quickly in the mornings so you want to make sure you get out and put your towels on a chair so that spot is claimed! The weather was weird while we were here, we picked the wrong time to go I guess. The first 4 days we had nothing but over cast and off and on light rain everyday. The remaining 3 full days we had left we got sun, so at least we got some.... Overall, when discussing this trip with my boyfriend on the way home, we decided other than our issues with the food, this was a fabulous place to stay. There were some flaws with the bathroom and such, but you get what you pay for for $1,200! The staff was really responsive, very polite, very friendly and very quick to get you what you need. They had staff cleaning up empty cups, sweeping anything up off the ground and tidying chairs to make sure it was clean. For the price we paid for this trip, we feel it was worth it!

Not bad, more of a 3 star

Oor weather was not the greatest the week we were there, April 17-24th, 2017. It rained on and off all week and the beach was really rough and windy. The food was very good. The staff was very nice. The pool was quite dirty...cigarettes butts and empty water balloons etc. wasn't quite a 4.5-5 star in my opinion. Nothing fancy. Had some problems with our toilet and shower. Amazing Resort, thumbs up

The resort is perfect size and location. The staff are ALL amazing and will do anything for you. The rooms and grounds clean and pretty. Food was also perfect with lots of selection, something for everyone and never really a line up. Fruit was fresh, big plus in my mind. The beach was also perfect, you can walk for miles either way. We did the Monster Buggy Excursion, booked with our agent. It was alot of fun and reasonable price. Check in and out was easy. This was our second time to VH and loved it as much as the first. Also, the only resort ever that responded to our requests and they were met, above and beyond. VH is our "home away from home" Thanks to the management and staff for their attention to detail and for making us feel like family. Special shout out to "Louie" (Pool Bartender)...He is the best, keep him on staff for our next visit. Entertainment was also excellent. PS....can you speak to mother nature and ask her to hold off on the rain for our next trip....LOL XOXO Can't wait to return.

Decent Resort with Great Beach

The resort was decent and clean and the staff were friendly. The bar staff were great. We really enjoyed the beach, it's a beautiful beach that they keep very clean. I loved the huts on the beach, they were great for shade. The beach is protected by a reef so there aren't many waves, making it great for snorkeling and for kids. The Italian a la carte was the biggest disappointment, the food and service there was subpar. And the desserts at all 3 restaurants were subpar. Loved the sea bass cev [... read more]iche at the Octopus restaurant though. Overall it's a decent 3 star with a nice beach.

Best Resort

The VH Gran Ventana is the best resort we have stayed at, The service and welcome starts as soon as you get off the bus. The staff appreciate you for using their resort from the maids to bartenders and servers right to the management. The food is great from breakfast to lunch and supper, they have enough variety that anyone should be able to find something they like. The resort is small enough that walking to the beach and to dinning and entertainment is all with in minutes. The Playa Dorada [... read more] complex is safe for walking, shopping and enjoying the sunshine. The beach itself has a natural coral reef in front and is great for snorkeling to see all the different fish. You go once to this resort and become family.
