Very Good all around

The Hotel (resort) was very nice. Very well kept, the staff were very friendly. The buffet's were to be expected. The food a little bland and over cooked but the restaurants a la carte were very good and the service excellent. If we were to return to Holguin, we would defenitly return to this resort. The rooms were nice and serviced daily. We had paid the small fee for the upgraded room which was well worth the extra 20.00 or so. The inclusions in the resort were very good as well. Paddle boats, [... read more] catamaran rides etc.... There are ample restaurants and buffet's. The bar staff very friendly and a good selection of booze. I would defenitly recommend this resort to a friend. Approx. 1 Hour from the airport but well worth it.

Amazing experience each time

So far, I have been at this hotel eight times. The service and people there are absolutely amazing. The food is great compared to other places in Cuba. Planing to go back two more times this year. This hotel truly values its return customers and will go to any extent to make you feel as if this is your second home. Clean, safe, anything you wish to have with a smile. Nice resort

We were there the first year it opened 14 years ago...big difference now..it has aged..especially interiors of rooms..grounds nice..public beach washrooms horrible..food ok very repetitive..alacarte restaurants were excellent..service people not as friendly as I remember when first opened

Beautiful Beach

The resort is big a lot of walking or they have express golf cart service but be prepared to wait a long time out front of your room as we did. My husband has a bad knee and needed the service and at times we waiting 40 minutes for one. The beach is very beautiful and ocean was warmer than the pool. Pool is not heated at all. The staff at the resort was good but they are not equip [... read more]ped to handle plus size people. As we got there and we had to hunt for a chair with no arms for my husband. Every time we went for dinner or lunch or breakfast we had to wait for a chair. There were some in the lobby which was totally smoke filled and as non smokers very hard to breath so we had to miss out on the entertainment at night and to sit in the lobby bar. There were non smoking tables right next to smoking tables and some of the guests just smoked anywhere they pleased. Not enjoyable at the least. They only had a tiny wheel chair that maybe would fit a child and to top it off they said for us to try it and the arm rest fell off when we held on to it. There were a few chairs with arms the first 3 days we were there and then they received new tables and chairs and took away every single no arm chair in the resort. So needless to say my husband was embarrassed to go and try to sit anywhere as people starred as we were asking for a chair with no arms. Again the people were okay ..Our A/c broken in our room the first night and the electrical plugs were black and things just fell out of the sockets ..not safe. There were cockroaches in the room by our fridge and toilet so we kept everything locked up and close the entire trip. The room was spacious and maid always kept it clean for us. Fidel the driver was awesome and Dianna the maid was a joy to have. The breakfast little buffet side were amazing as well and always had my husbands chair waiting at the table for him. If you are handicap or can not walk far you will not want to get a superior room as they are on the out side of the main lobby furthest away from the lobby or restaurants. The standard rooms are a bit smaller but all the same really. So we made the best of it and enjoyed the week vacation. Sorry we don't usually write a bad review but some people need to know especially plus size people. thanks Jodi penfold

Everything was very nice the people friendly the hotel very clean the restaurants amazing the buffet very rich,beautiful beach entairtament amazing very nice formalities with children and anyone the best hotel ever beautiful birds and flowers you should try the coconut ice cream

Amazing Resort

We had such an amazing time just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean and the resort. The staff was fanominal and couldnt have asked for a better time or staff. The food was a little different from what we were used to but change is always a good thing. The experience was beyond words and can't wait to go back!!

Terrific Christmas Getaway!

It was our 8th visit to Cuba and 2nd visit to the Pesquero so we knew what to expect. A large resort means there's some walking but we don't mind the exercise. It was never too long a wait for transportation (golf carts) if there was a rain shower or if you needed a lift. Just wave them down and they'll stop for you. We figured the resort was a little over 1/2 full with a number of families. Santa made a visit Christmas Day and there seemed to be lots of activities for children. A few decoration [... read more]s made it festive but not over the top. Lots of variety in the big buffet, the adjoining smaller buffet was quieter. If you were patient enough to stand in a short line and have your pasta/protein/stir fry made to order then it was hot. We never went away hungry. A la carts were very good - they take pride in presentation of a meal and service was great. Seemed to be no shortage of entertainment in the lobby whether a it was a 7 piece Cuban band or smaller combo's or pianists - something for everyone. Favourite spot for lunch was Yareyal by the pool. They can do up a tossed salad made to order - excellent!! Worth the walk up from the beach. They have their awards displayed on a wall in the lobby. Impressive. We met a number of folks who were repeats guests - anywhere from 8 - 24 times. That says a lot for the Pesquero.

Beautiful Place

Playa Pesquero was an amazing resort! The first memorable thing for me was the warmth and friendliness of the staff and their eagerness to answer my questions. The atmosphere for my 1 week stay was set by the picturesque view of the grounds and beach, which were beautifully manicured and maintained. The grounds were filled with colorful flowers which accented the lush green grass; all signs for the lively culture of Cuba. My glee was then magnified as we entered our designated suite which was spacious and well groomed. Every day the beds were lovingly made and cleaned with the utmost care. Moreover, as we arrive for our first meal, the presentation in the dining room was superbly displayed. The a la carte kitchen was delicious; I enjoyed the Mediterranean and Caribbean food. Most fondly remembered was the feast presented for us on New Years Eve. Furthermore, the nightly entertainment for both kids and adults were well performed. For the adult entertainment the performers were professional and very capable of their trade which left me in awe and wonder after each show. I would definitely return to Playa Pesquero and suggest this as a destination for my friends and family. As a mater a fact I have already referred four persons sin my return on Jan 02, 2017. Hoping they will actually take that trip and enjoy Playa Pesquero family resort.

Nice resort

Loved the whole set up of this resort, a lot of walking, great food, Cleaning room service could be better, floors in the room and bathroom were not cleaned during 7 day stay, coffee spots on the floor were permanent decoration Did not receive coffee maker in superior room, tips and complains helped only 3 days later but coffee maker received was not working .... Quite annoying fact is that you are expected to tip for everything if not you will received water or wine after finishing you [... read more]r meal

Beach is great, service is the best

Resort is huge, lots of walking. Love the seafoods in Alacarte. Service is great. Lots of dishes to choose from but meat are bland, so I stick with fish and other seafoods. Snack bar has great fried chicken. Different activities in the evening for kids and adult. Beach is the best and Pool is great. I will recommend this resort & will go back again.

Very good!

Everything was brilliant! Just one dark spot in my impression- checking-in. We spent more than one hour arguing for better building and floor Finally we had it - building 60. Suprisingly there was a line of people with the problems (and it was in the middle of the night)

Fantastic resort

The grounds were very clean and very scenic,food was great in the reservation restaurants as for the buffet could not get used to the birds all over but still good the shows at night was all great loved them all the staff were the best ,for are first vacation this was the best place, we would return again,really did not want to leave .thank for the best service at the trip central and sunwing......

Very good to amazing

It was our the first trip to Cuba. Stayed there for a week starting Dec 2, 2016 1. Food in buffets was really good (except cheese). 2. The best a la carte restaurant in resort - La Gondola, was amazing. Sea food restaurant was excellent as well. 3. Room was good and large but floors in bathroom was squeeze, I saw a cocaroach in the room. 4. The beach is good for swimming but is average for snorkeling. Jacuzzi heater was out of service so water was just room temperature 6. Service is amazing and staff was VERY friendly 7. Evening shows was good but many artists were dressed poorly especially compared to costumes of Cirque du Soleil performers. 8. Coffee lovers will be happy with this place. 9. If you change your money in foreign currency exchange Kiosk double check your money. Next time I will not bring cash with me, credit card works. However be sure your card is not associated with american banks and it is not an American express. Visa will be good. You can pay all your local trips in Hotel with Visa as well. 10. If you fisherman bring your fishing road with you, it is good place for fishing from the shore. 11. Keep in mind it is not always possible pay your food or water with Visa cards at Holguin airport. Communications are in bad shape and if you do not have cash in ANY currency you do not have a water. Presume you will stay thirsty for few hours, especially if your low coaster air company will sell you souvenirs, food, services and at the very end somewhere near Canada they will offer you 3 dollars bottle of water. 12. I did not see any water rescue guards or equipment on the beach. No one watch after you and your kids. Be safe. 13. Cuba is not rich country. Do not be cheap.

Family of eight enjoyed a great week together

Been there 11 times now and noticing improvements every time we go. We did a tour of the premium suites and they were very impressive. This hotel is our favorite of all the places we go. It is nice to go back and be recognized by a lot of the staff and feel that you get a little better service.

Best food, staff, service, beach, pools, ....

Just returned from 11 days December 2016. Highly recommend everything. Just beautiful, relaxing, pampered. Smiling, helpful staff, with excellent English and super attitude. Had 2 poolside massages - awesome masseuse! Best waitstaff - Unelis, Rene, Carla, ... Everyone was superb, warm, smiling, helpful, attentive. Highly recommend and we will be returning!

Great resort for all ages

Having been at this resort five times already, my friends and I found it very comfortable, the best beaches, food is definitely improving (I like things hot...very warm.) The people who visit this resort come from many parts of the world. Staff and visitors were very friendly and accommodating. Anything we ask for, was supplied. We definitely will be going back.

Great resort with a few flaws

Overall a great resort keeping in mind this is not the most luxurious or the most modern place. Food is great. People are mostly great. The beach is amazing! White sand with crystal clear water and yet great snorkelling only some 100 meters away. Fairly calm waters because of the location. Perfect for kids. Checkout experience was simply terrible though. The buggy driver who was supposed to pick up my luggage never showed up so had to drag the suitcases across the resort by myself so I wouldn't  [... read more]miss the bus.

Beautiful Beach!

We recently stayed for a week at the playa pesquero resort. The beach was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and accomadating. Rooms and food were ok, nothing to write home about.

Amazing resort!

Everything was amazing. The food, the rooms, the service was amazing! They have renovated alot of the resort so it looks wonderful! Was very disappointed that there was no music or activities because of Castro death, I believe we are paying to have a good time at this resort and they should've accommodated that no matter what's happening in Cuba!

Our favourite place, aka our second home!

Everything was well maintained. Grounds were beautiful. Room large and comfortable. The mattress was perfect! Always served with a smile, and remembered by staff from our previous visits. Next visit can't come soon enough!
