A great family resort.

The service, the hospitality and the entertainment was excellent. Clean and meticulous in the daily duties. The organization is world class. Courteous and polite, it made our stay memorable. We would definitely go again.

Disappointing Return

We stayed at this resort 3 years ago & had a wonderful week. Since then the hotel has not been maintained. On arrival our room was very worn & old looking and no toliet seat - we requested a change but had to stay 2 nights before we moved. The people at the front desk were very gracious, however when we went to the front desk the next morning as directed - all of a sudden they had no record of the request! The food was the usual tasteless food found in most Cuban resorts. The pools were clean but it was 10 or 11 am before the mats were available and we couldn't get a clean towel all week as there was a "a problem with the laundry". I felt bad for the staff - they seemed at a loss as to how to help people but always politely kept to the same excuses. 99% of the staff were wonderful. We were impressed w/the hotel representative for Transat who was always there on time & did a good job advising of excursions etc. Other than the fantastic service we received from both Trip Central & Transat this trip was horrendous! I would remove this resort from your list.

Good hotel, service was good

Veradero is a good place, enjoyed the trip to Havana. Lots to do but just wanted to relax and had no trouble accomplishing that. Beach is very good also. Learned a lot about Cuba, which was one of our major goals.

Very good overall

overall this resort is very well planned for patron access,walking to any or all amenities is easy to do.We travelled with another couple,in their room the hair blower would not stay running long and the toilet seat was not bolted to the toilet.They went to the front desk every day starting the second day of our trip,and nothing was fixed in their room the entire stay.As some sort of compensation they gave the 4 of us a late check out of 3:00,but only from our room,not both rooms?

Very nice resort

New and modern hotel. Very nice rooms. Food is not the greatest. I got sick during and after my stay there, not sure if it was the food or the water. WiFi is not for free and is limited to lobby and pool area.

Nice resort! Food not so great....

Nice resort (average for all inclusives that I've been to) but the food was awful. Everything is imported from China, vegetables are canned, meat is poor quality. We felt sick the whole week and still do several days later. The people working here are all very nice and helpful. The beach and pools are awesome. Overall the experience would have been great had it not been for the terrible food.

Expected more

I did not travel to Cuba with overly high expectations, given I've travelled to Cuba several times in the past and only go to 4.5 + star hotel ratings in that country. Although my trip and stay at Iberostar Laguna Azul was for the most part enjoyable, I was quite disappointed that there was no hot water....which was a little warm at best, and the towels in the room were extremely worn out and old. What upset me the most, which is why I would not recommend an Iberostar resor [... read more]t in the future, is that somehow miraculously all my above complaints improved as soon as we found out Iberostar representatives were on the premises and handing out questionnaires to guests asking for their opinion on the resort. All of a sudden, the water was a little warmer, the towels were clean looking and newer, and there was a larger variety of food choices at the buffet. The fact that the hotel was not living up to it's standards is a reason never to return there.

Middle of the Pack

Grounds were ok, lots of cracked tiles in hallway and elevators. Not enough lighting in hallways. Patio seating had way too much bird droppings on them. (too many birds in eating patio's. Room towels too thin and not enough of them to go around. Pool towels the same, couldn't get a fresh one daily. Bed mattress worn could feel coil springs through them, not very comfortable really. Room itself was clean enough but not to Grandma's liking...(could have been more clean.)

This hotel was a great disappointment.

Grounds were clean, as were pools. Public restrooms (ladies anyway) - many of them did NOT have toilet seats, door handles or locks (and often no toilet paper). We heard they are waiting for 80!!!!!!. Maintenance is sadly lacking in this facility. Lots of talking among staff when at work and work done in a very disorganized manner. Consider: bringing coffee to us and no cups with same and NO CUPS TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE, as well as tables not set properly, ie. tableware missing,no napkins; we were  [... read more]told guests had taken cups to their suites, but the resort was only half-full at this point!!! Also food in buffet was 'hit or miss' - cold, none left, no refills, no labels on what we're eating. Our safe (wouldn't open/close) and closet doors did not work: same with balcony doors. We looked at other suites..... same situation, so we stayed and WAITED in for 'safe repair guy'. Improper maintenance was noted in many places by us. People were complaining everywhere and generally very unhappy. Sloppy cleaning in suites also, as we noted floors not swept and we had to chase down towels/paper for bathroom. This should not happen AT ALL. A LA CARTE's saved us and they were fair - lots of effort put in there, funny enough, but no way 5Star! Funny, entertainment was quite good and we attended every night. Bar staff overworked in main lobby and coffee bar, but what else is new!!! Gardens were fine, as were pools. You need to properly maintain a resort like this if you want people to return.......... and we think we may NOT return ever!!!

Good holilday - unplanned hotel renovations

We love this resort but were disappointed that they started renovations while we were there. The lobby café/bar shut down for renovations for 5/7 days of our vacation, leaving a tiny cigar shop as the main place for specialty coffee drinks. Hot water was off - totally for the first 2 days, but we had warm water for the remainder of the week. The staff at the resort worked around the renovations as well as could be expected. Great resort!

Hotel was awesome, entertainment gets you dancing at any time of the day, the staff: warm hearted people! The people who vacation there; variety of people (families, group of friends, couples). Had a blast!:)

Perfect Resort for a Destination Wedding

We got back from the Iberostar Laguna Azul on November 30 2015 and it was one of the best weeks of our lives. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone thinking about a destination wedding or just wanting to get away for a week. We've stayed all over Cuba and this was the nicest hotel we have been to. The food was the best we've had in Cuba, there was always lots of choices and everything was edible. The  [... read more]wedding coordinator (Enith Gonzalez) made our wedding week as stress free as possible and made the wedding day one we will never forget. The beds are a little hard but overall the rooms are really nice. Some people complained about the lack of lighting at night around the resort but it didn't bother us at all. The beach was gorgeous even though we didn't spend a lot of time there because it was pretty windy all week. There was entertainment every day and night. Most of it was generic Cuban hotel entertainment but there was definitely some different things to watch throughout the week. We never had a problem getting towels, whether it was bathroom towels or beach towels. The resort is also very child friendly so it's a great place to have a family vacation.

It's an OK resort.

The hallway lights were either very dim or no lights at all throughout the sleeping quarters. Some sections in the outside of the buildings were poorly lit as well. The staff were friendly enough most of the time.The food for the most part was adequate but sure could use some improvement. It was very bland. If one is expecting a 5 star resort, it's more like a 3.5-4 star. All in all; we had a good experience.

This resort was... OK.

This was my first resort experience. We went as a family with our 2 year old for a wedding. The bad first: This resort is not at all like in looks in the photos. I think the photos were taken on opening day when it was all shiny and new, because what we saw was old and tired. Our suite smelled like a damp outhouse. Our air conditioner did not turn off. Plates, bowls and beach towels were in very short supply. The kiddie pools were either dirty or empty all week. The good: Amazing service, super friendly staff, beautiful well-kept grounds. Our suite was spacious and our housekeeper was great : our mini bar was restocked daily with pop and bottled water and we were even treated to some beautiful bed sheet creations like a peacock and a butterfly. The pools were lovely, the beach was breathtaking. The shows at the theater were well done, and the musicians, dancers and entertainers performing throughout the day were fantastic. The wedding we attended was held in one of the rooftop gazebos. It was beautiful, the view was incredible and the day was really well organized and run by their on-site wedding planner. They even closed down one of the à la carte restaurants for the dinner and had the discoteca available to us for a private reception. Overall, the good and the bad balanced each other out. I wouldn't choose to go back there, but if I had to, I guess I wouldn't mind.

Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful and so are all of the staff at this resort. Our room was fabulous as was the service we received. Although Cuban cuisine may not be to everyone's taste, there was plentiful food to choose from. The entertainment team were engaging and fun and the grounds ar kept up well. All 5 pools were open, and you have a nice choice of a quiet pool, the party pool or if course the beautiful beach! The al a carte restaurants were good. We truly enjoyed our holiday.

Nice Place

We really enjoyed the layout to the resort. The food wasn't bad either and the room was really NICE!!! They need to have more variety in Alcohol. We are big Amaretto Drinkers and they would only had a bottle every other day for the 1st 2 days then nothing after that.

Loved this resort

Resort is the perfect size with everything well laid out and central. Very clean. Room was made up and fridge stocked daily. Food, for Cuba, was very good. Pools and beach area were very clean. Three pools to choose from, the central pool being the party pool and the other two on the outsides quieter. Staff very nice and was very impressed by the quality of the nightly entertainment. Overall though a very pleasant experience and will definately go back.

A Hotel with a good potential BUT .....

This is actually a Hotel with a good potential BUT poor service & management !!! You will get a mixed feelings about this hotel ! The building and facility is definitely built for a 5 star hotel, specially SPA area which is really unique but poor service and lack of management pushes down this resort dramatically !! Starting with positive points : - Beach and pool areas are great, specially beach. Is typically white sand Cuban beach. Also there are enough sun beds and umbrellas all around the b [... read more]each and pools, so no struggling. - Entertainment team is doing a good job, no complain in this regards. They even had a foam party which was fun. - Japanese a la cart. - Nice people as they are “Cuban” ! Depending on personalities and expectations, the negative points are vary but I think the below deficiencies are very common and visible : - There is a “Towel Tragedy” going on in this resort ! No fresh towel is available during the housekeeping time, so you have to ask for it later but no guarantee to receive any ! Even the ones you receive are not in a good condition and can’t be used ! There are collections of wholes and stains and extremely small for body use ! I am glad we took our own towels, otherwise didn’t know what to do when coming back from beach and really need to take a shower, specially with a little kid !!! Having said that, the fresh beach towels have been always available during our stay … - The washrooms in all over the resort are either broken or out of soap & paper ! Please don’t blame Cuba for all these deficiencies !! Fixing or replacing toilet seats has nothing to do with common deficiencies in Cuba, It is just LACK OF MANAGEMENT !!! - “Maintenance” is another huge issue in this resort ! I am not sure if they have any regular maintenance checks, specially for the rooms but the drawers and closet doors are falling apart, as well as too many other things in the rooms ! The bulbs in the hallways are mostly burnt out and elevators really need some repairs … Beside these major problems, there are some general comments too which may be vary from case to case. For example the food was some days really acceptable with a good variety but some days were really hard to find something to eat, specially in the Grill restaurant by the beach ! Service was generally poor. For example if you wanted fresh towels, you had to call at least 3 times and not even any guarantee to receive one ! When we arrived, there was no welcoming procedure like the other resorts ! We have been waiting in a slow going line up for almost an hour, no one even came to serve a drink ! I asked the front desk to bring people some water at least before passing out !!! I won’t recommend this resort considering its higher price with lower quality ! If you pay less than 1000 $ it “may” worth but definitely not for the price we paid for !!!

Great Resort!!!

The resort itself was beautiful. The food was decent for Cuba. The staff were amazing! Entertainment staff were fun, bartenders were amazing, especially Ernesto at the swim up bar. Close to the gorgeous beach. Disco was fair size. Snack bar was good, always had food late at night.

Highly recommend!

Can't think of anything negative to say about my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was really clean, and everything was super accessible. The grounds were beautiful and the gorgeous beach was a super short walk away from our room. There was plenty to do on the resort, including great nightly entertainment and the energetic discoteca. The buffet had its highs and lows but the a la carte options were delicious.
