Grand Memories Cayo Largo: OK resort

Clean and cool excelent staff. great air conditioning. requested closer room to central activities but were totally ignored, even by the rep.of the tour, even after several attempts to be moved. I am motionally challenged and was placed the furthest 4312 room away after requesting, when booking, to be close to the centre of activities. Very disapointed. Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Pleased :D

The staff were friendly, the housekeeping was kept up everyday, the food wasn't as bad as I heard it was and the scenery was beautiful. The resort was good for both R&R and getting out to enjoy yourself. I had minor problems like mosquitos eating us alive at the a la carte dinners, and found a lizard in our room on 2 occasions but that was more amusing than anything. Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Very nice time at Cuba's most beautiful beaches

I have been to Cayo Largo twice now, and will definitely return if I can. Cayo Largo is a place to go for the beaches. The serenity of the ocean and the beauty of the nature. NOT, the food, quality of resort buildings or other details like that. However, I personally loved the food and thought the bungalow we stayed at was perfect. The food is what is natural on an island in the middle of th [... read more]e ocean - no crazy selection of fruits and vegetables, but the amazing kindness of the servie staff and the quality and caliber with what everything is cooked and served should be considered when judging overall. I went with my partner of 2 years and we had a beautiful romantic time, and on midweek made some great friends that enhanced the experience. We opted for the "small boat" snorkelling found off of Playa Sirena and payed only 20$ per person to go out for almost 2 hours to a gorgeous reef. WELL worth it. Also, on Wednesday night we went to the "El Torreo" nightclub at the marina and danced teh night away with the locals. It is all very safe and friendly, with everyone helping you out every step -- and a bus takes you there and picks you up at intervals through the night. So you wont get stranded or lost or anything like that! Cubans are lovely people so dont be scared to venture away from your resorts (BUT, HIGHLY Caution the scooters - we saw alot of torn up drunk tourists who couldnt navigate the roads and got bad wounds -- we didnt rent scooters and I wouldnt recommend it.) Overall, I will return to Cayo Largo and its beauty.

Memories Cayo Largo: went with very little expectations to have amazing

With great company, amazing beach, great unlimited drinks and smiling faces around the hotel, clean room --- what can you ask for cheapest vacation all inclusive for a week? If there were no other places on my list, I would come back! Actually, we booked another Cuba vacation for January because of this experience. Please do not go there if you want five star restaurants and amazing room. We went for the WHITE sand, sun (in September) and we got it!, wave at the hotel beach, but pool was beautif [... read more]ul (used it in the eves for a short time); but shuttle took us every morning to Playa Paraiso and Sirenas (free) with lunch box (from hotel booked night before) and thermoses filled with "spiked" triple drinks and we got palapa and chairs NO problem. Most special: FREEDOM on the beaches! clothing optional, enjoy staying in the water, let the fish swim around you, take pics of the star fish in a shallow water... walk for miles and may run into another person or not... but let your partner pinch you to check if this is for REAL... we may have to go back to verify :) I got few bites (not sure what it was), so bring some stuff in the rainy season. Don't let the rain scare you away, for us it poured for few minutes after late dinners and one night bad storm, but it was amazing to watch through large balcony doors/glass wall.... too cold to run in the rain at the beach, but we tried. Be a kid and forget fancy table cloth and cutlery and dressing up... enjoy nature and local hospitality. Shows was very good and not too long. Not a place for singles, or party animals, unless you bring your own party. We loved it the way it was. Thank you TripCentral for the offer on the net. Direct flight, 10 min bus ride to hotel and room was waiting at 11am for us :) On the way back, we stopped for 1 hr at Santiago de Cuba and that became long trip, but crew from CanJet was great.

the staff was exemplary, great service always willing to please. food was alot better than reviews indicated.pool was very clean as was the whole place.Just 1 thing, anyone going to cayo largo in the summer should bring lots of mosquito repellant, the bugs are absolutely viscious!!

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Okay for 1 week but not 2

Nice place for the price, the airport is only mintues away which a bonus. Quiet, with a nice beach for long walks. For a Cuba resort it was good value. I like the open air dining and the pool was salt water, which is nice too. Some of the staff for lunch, was very slow. So pick your waiter and and try to sit in their area.

Memories Cayo Largo: Sol club cayo largo

This is the first time I have been to Cuba. The vacation did not start out the best as our room wasn't ready and they kept saying come back in 1/2 an hour. Well 3 hours later... But the resort was very nice and the staff was exceptional. Food was very good.

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Very relaxing, remote and quiet.

The hotel is in the process of new ownership; however, staff were great, rooms were clean and buffet was limited. Unique beach at resort and other options were available. The highlight was to see the sea turtles lay their eggs, the opportunity to help dig the eggs the following day for sustainability and survival of the young and to also release the newly hatched turtles. Unbelievable experience!

They need a lot of fixing on the grounds if you are not looking you can break your leg , first room that we got smell like a bad bathroom , we asked to be moved , second room air-condition was not working properly did not matter what temperature you put it was blowing what they wanted. As soon as we arrived at the airport he wanted tip / for what ? Going to beach with bus and catamaran is not well organized plus when you see poor dolphins in that shallow water with fence and you can swim with them for only 90 CUC ? Pool only if you are desperate you will get inside . Beach they tell you is dangerous so go to Playa Sirena All and all not great experience at this resort . I was at the resort with less stars much better

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Staff and Beach Awesome

Traveled in June 2014 back again to Cayo Largo I almost hate to recommend this island for it is so beautiful and it should not be spoiled. However live and let live. Food is good always something for everyone, however unlike here you don't have to eat everything offered pick and choose, you will not go hungry. A la carts are good but repetitive however a nice change of pace from the buffet. Wine drinks and beer all good. Beaches are wonderful but be careful in my ocean, waves break close to shor [... read more]e and will toss you around if not aware. Count waves and time your enter and exit, you'll be fine. A few ladies got hurt by not being aware, one had to go to the Medical Center with a dislocated shoulder. One of the waiters at the restaurant found out about this and offered to help her family out by taking them to the center to ensure injured person was well and taken care of. As I said "awesome" staff. The hotel itself, is in dire need or some TLC but get past that, and get out of your room for the day and enjoy... Keep in mind this is an island, not the main land so availability and logistics for some supplies at times could be an issue, just relax and go with it, your on vacation. Staff keep the place spotlessly clean and show pride in what they can do. Treat them well, they are doing everything they can with what they have to work with. Tips and stuff are welcome but don't forget the groundskeepers and beach staff!! Renovations and maintenance is underway for a possible buyout from Iberostar??? However please spend the money and fix the pool!!! Flight is short and commute to hotels is very short (10 mins) another plus for your vacation! Finally, this island and hotel by far is a super value for the buck!

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Enjoyed thoroughly....

Love the beach, especially playa serena. I have been to Manzanillo, Holguin, Varadero, Cayo Coco, Camaguey, but Cayo Largo has the best beach. Only complain is those workers who "book" all the beach chairs using some dirty t-shirts early in the morning and then give it to the tourists to get tips!

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Girl's Trip

We decided to take a girls trip away last minute. We picked Hotel Playa Blanca for the price, spacious bungalow rooms, close to the airport and the beautiful island atmosphere. The food was OK (you don't go to Cuba for the food). The only disappointment was the pool. There was no swim up bar, no shade and two of are towels got stollen. We had to pay 25 dollars each. Nightly entertainment was excellent.

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Wonderful staff, but the resort needs work

This hotel has the most wonderful staff, they are friendly and caring and cheerful - the food is quite good, but they do run low on supplies when the boat from the mainland is delayed. The resort itself, although kept spotless, is in need of maintenance. The beaches on this safe island are the most beautiful - a great place to go if you don't demand luxury and the finest things.

this was a nice hotel, with a beautiful beach.good service with nice white sand and torquoise glimmering water.food was ok, with a little variety to appeal to most tastes to please the majority.staff were helpful.

Villa Marina: Villa Marinera

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A good mix of things to do and see. Free shuttles and boat rides to the most gorgeous beach. Good food. Staff was great. A little glitch with our room safe but was looked after. Older rooms are not sound proof at all, however all you need as a home base

hotel was good enough for the price that we paid. Missing activities for the evening, not good shows, not good disco. Big line up for the drinks at the evening. Ok rooms, but dirty towels, full of stains. Towels instead of white, were grey with the spots...

Grand Memories Cayo Largo: Relaxing stay in Playa Blanca

This resort has a good vibe, staff are friendly and not too pushy. Rooms are older but clean and functional. Food is better than average compared to other places in Cuba. The beach is nice but very narrow with choppy waves and strong currents. You can walk or take the complementary shuttle to other beaches. We enjoyed our stay in Playa Blanca.

We loved our stay. The food, grounds and staff were wonderful. The only undesirable thing that we noticed was the outdated rooms. They were clean but in disrepair. That didn't stop us from having a great time. We walked for miles and didn't see a soul. It was like we had the island to ourselves. The island is absoloutley stunning.

decent food , great beach , 5 minutes from the airport, bugs just in the evening for an hour or so. went on a snorkel excursion , it was excellent...tenth time to Cuba , it is great in terms of location , no town , no peddlers , no locals, friendly staff , resort was half full , it was end of November ....rained once at night for about an hour .....I recommend this resort for all age groups as well as handicapped.

Our second visit at this resort. We also stayed at the Sol Cayo Largo once. For the price you pay to stay there you can't complain, not worth paying more for Sol Cayo Largo. Wonderful beach, great service. Just a few minutes from the airport, recommend taking taxi and beating the line up when you get to the hotel
