Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Fantastic Experience!!

This resort was amazing. Grounds were impeccably maintained. The food was great always find something you like at the buffet. Amazing desserts. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous on the golden area close to the beach with great photos of sunrise and sunset. Beach was clean and calm beautiful despite what the reviews said. Shout out to Achilies a lobby manager. So many great people!!!

Weare Cadaques Bayahibe: Smaller quieter place

"Do not sweat the small stuff" approach does wonders :) Smaller, quieter place than those next to it (turn right and walk on the beach to see other resorts, that probably will help you appreciate this one more :) Beach is nice, food is great, well maintained grounds, felt safe on the first floor. Free wifi in the lobby. Did not use: pools, bars, room service, entertaining, cleaning (just asked for whatever we needed). First of all I would like to Thank Heather Maclntyre for booking us a great vacation through Tripcentral. She made us feel at ease and well looked after, we will always recommend her and Tripcentral to friends and family . When we arrived two lovely ladies greeted us with a welcome drink. She ordered the trolley car to come pick us up and take us to the dining room for dinner. The chef opened the grill and made us grilled chicken and French fries. It was delicious!!!😊 Our first night in our room wasn’t so good.😩 we had a toilet that was broken an air conditioner that didn’t work and a patio door that didn’t lock. We took it to the front desk in the morning and they moved us to a beautiful suite. We found everyone on this resort was very accommodating. The Grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very friendly. The Food was good but needs more variety. No A la Cartes on this resort very disappointing. We have been to the DR 6 times and I have always been told when you book an all inclusive everything is free. On this resort if you ordered off the menu you had to pay. At the bars all drinks are usually free but at this resort you only had a few drinks to pick from and they were so disgusting you couldn’t drink them they tasted like perfume, very disappointed! When we asked for a drink of the Barcelo Rum ,they said we had to pay for it. Having said all that overall we loved our vacation. This resort just needs to work out a few minor details and upgrade things to an all inclusive! We were told they are putting in 2 A la Carts .😊

We had great relaxing week. Very clean and food was typical resort food . Buffet could try to have better warming trays !!! Best thing got an Upgrade to a VILLA... Amazing... Resort was too big for us !!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: A great choice

Pro: - Resort was clean and well maintained. - White sandy beach with palm trees. The water was calm and in March it was a great temperature for swimming - There were a lot of beach/pool chairs available, as well as several areas for shade - Wifi was available throughout the resort, including the beach. You had to reactivate it every 24 hours and it was at times slow, but overall it met our needs - Food quality was good, with a varied selection - Room was large, as it included a sitting ar [... read more]eas and balcony. There was a separate bathroom which allowed privacy - Staff were friendly and eager to assist - We had read reviews of poor service at the buffet, but that was not our experience. We received quick and attentive service - We had access to the facilities at the BP La Romana Resort. This made the resort feel larger, but we appreciated that the Bouganville was quieter and more refined. Cons: - Due to an intersection of the ocean with a stream, the water at the beach was murky. The water close to beach was also quite rocky and there was a ridge you had to get over to get into the deeper water. - At the buffet, staff were sometimes slow in replacing hot food so you would find steamers cold or empty. Tips: - We really enjoyed the Don Pablo Gourmet (went twice). Great service and delicious food. We would highly recommend it. - We also went to the the Asian restaurant (Oriental Takara), Brazilian restaurant (Los Carales Rodizio), and Seafood restaurant (El Pescador). They were all good, but did not blow us away. At the Brazilian and Seafood restaurants the appetizer and dessert are buffet style, with a limited selection of desserts. - Book reservations early. We booked on our first day using the app and were able to get several restaurants. However when I looked on the app a few days later there was nothing available. Luckily with the help of the guest services desk we were able to get a few more reservations. - There are no English channels on the television so bring an iPad and Netflix or another form of entertainment if you plan to spend time in the room. - The evening show took place at the LB La Romana (resort next door) or the Bahia Villege (space shared by both hotels), with a pre-show happening in the lobby of the Bouganville. The circus show was great! We also enjoyed the Michael Jackson Tribute. Overall, we would be happy to return to this resort.

The grounds were kept nice..the rooms were dated but fine except the bathroom toilet would not flush..the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain..we even upgraded ourselves for VIP..$300.00....really...there are 2 classes of VIP. A and B I presume..we only pd enough for B I guess... if you speak only English good luck..vip breakfast bar..bacon and eggs didn’t .exist. We waited 15 min for coffee, only to find when waiter left that it was freezing...and another 15 min for new one..bacon and eggs was ac [... read more]tually 2 eggs... never all easy over..and bacon had to come from buffet. Was gonna be 5 min.. after spending so much time waiting on the not so easy over eggs, the bacon still hadn’t arrived..still waiting.........food was garbage really..beach was sardines in a can..very unhappy staff..we had ala cart one night at Mexican and the waitress was the best...most fun...AND could speak English without having to get somebody else to explain...........all in all I would not recommend...I have better treatment in Cuba at a 3 1/2 star....really...and could have been there for 3 weeks for the cost of one at be live.....hope this helps so body who only speaks English....

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great Resort

The grounds were beautiful and well kept, staff were very attentive and super friendly .Overall an amazing experience this was our third visit the this resort and we enjoyed the large pool and fun activities ,the food was very good with 6 different restaurants to choose from plus the buffet even had a casino on the grounds lf thats your thing.These are just some of the reasons we keep coming back

hotel and rooms and grounds were fabulous. beach was nice you could walk quite far both direction from the resort. only down fall ocean was not crystal clear like other Dominican spots we have been too. It was an hour and a half drive from Punta cana air port.

Whala Bayahibe: Okay, but not really anything outstanding

First impression upon arriving at the outside of this resort on the airport shuttle was, "Oh my God, this can't really be where they are dropping us off" ??? Bus came to a dead end, and had to turn around in an area littered with all kinds of garbage. It was too early to check in, and they told us that if we wanted anything to eat, we would have to get to the buffet right away. They could store our luggage in a room, and we could come back and check in afterwards which is what we ended up doin [... read more]g. Food at the buffet was pretty good, and the pizza and burgers at the Beach restaurant where also pretty good. The only other restaurant on site was a sushi restaurant, which was not part of the All Inclusive package? There was really only one bar located near the pools, and most of the time it was very busy and slow. You could however get cervaso at the burger/pizza restaurant. The buildings where all very well kept and clean, and all of the staff where very friendly and nice. We booked 2 excursions via our Nexus representative "Johnny" Both excursions turned out well. There is no sandy beach at this resort, but they do have a shuttle that runs to a public beach not far away. We also took walks almost everyday into the downtown area where there are lots of vendors that like you to go into their stores and check out their goods. There also wasn't any night time entertainment at this resort of any kind. It seemed like most of the visitors to this resort where from parts of Europe and Russia. We met and talked with quite a few people, but it was really difficult to converse being that we only speak English. We were amazed by the people in the tour bus, etc. that could converse in a multitude of languages :) We were there the first week of March, and the weather was Fantastic. About 29 Celsius every day, with only a slight drizzle for a few minutes one afternoon :)

Dreams Dominicus competes well with other 4-star resorts. We found the staff to be well trained and very helpful. Food was always well prepared, well displayed and consistently good. Having four evening restaurants besides the main restaurant gave plenty of variety at mealtime. Most food service staff are aware of food allergies (e.g., gluten) and make sure no guest suffers. However glitches occurred three times during our two-week stay with the server bringing a delicious salad or soup wit [... read more]h a bread stick or croutons. These dishes were promptly returned and fresh ones brought back. The buildings look marvelous and clean. Our suite was kept clean and well supplied with towels and beverages. The beach area is narrow for the number of guests. The cots are comfortable and in good shape. But they were lined up row on row limiting the sea view. Far too much sun for our taste, with more shaded in the Preferred Club area than in the general area. We spent most of our time near a quieter pool that had more shade. Alcohol beverages were promptly and generously poured with top shelf brands. Coco Cafe is a quiet retreat for coffee lovers. Here also the service was friendly. Suggestions for guests. Tip modestly but often - not only for good service but also to provide a better income for staff. Men, dress well to complement what your partner and other women are wearing. Engage staff in friendly conversation.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great hotel with some not so good points

The hotel bouganville(adult only side) was very nice and relatively quiet.Room was very clean, spacious and new.Grounds were meticulously well kept.Food was subpar however with buffets being bland and boring.You could find something to eat but not the greatest.Went out to Alacart and was very disappointed with the service.Placed order and waited a full hour and ten minutes to get it.Come on...Language was bad as I don’t think anyone knew or understood the English language.I know it is their c [... read more]ountry however a little basic English lessons to their staff would go a long way.Location was one hour twenty minute shuttle to airport.No where close to shop except in hotel only.Quite pricey.Cleaning staff were quite noisy in the halls talking to each other in loud echoing voices sometimes twenty rooms apart.This is an adult only bloc and you would think kids were running and playing in the halls.

We Just returned from our very first holiday and it couldn't have been any better . We traveled with another couple who had been to Grand Bahia la Romana before and loved it . They were right The food was excellent the grounds were beautiful the beach was big and very clean and not too busy The staff was friendly as helpful. Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Terrible worst resort we have been to.

1, Hardly anyone spoke English they catered more to the Spanish speaking people. 2, We upgraded… really couldn’t see the benefit except for the adult pool… The a la cartes were a joke, Japanese got a pass… Supposed to get premium drinks 🍹 Not one of the party of 10 could drink the red or white wine, that’s so you buy a bottle that costs a fortune… 3, So after upgrading flight, & amenities in the hotel, which has mold and rooms very damp We all were counting the days t [... read more]o come home…You guys need to reavalueate this place… Won’t go into trying to get some bacon 🥓

Our party off 8 people were very upset about this hotel,the food was the worse we have ever had on a resort.Hardely anyone spoke English ,Just to get breakfast was an nightmare.All 8 off us paid an extra $300,00 a couple to get upgraded to VIP.but it did not get much better.The food was still the same,food was always cold even the soup,I don't know how many times we had to send our food back for one reason or another.I really don't know how they rate this a four star.Ive been to a three star in  [... read more]Cuba & it was a lot better than this.For $1500.00 each it was a rip off.I would never go back to this resort.& I would not recommend it to any off my Friends.i don't usually put reviews on here but I feel people should know what they are getting into before they spend their hard earned Money.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Beautiful clean resort

Beautiful resort and amazingly clean. Staff was very friendly and very respectful. We did enjoy eating at three of the A La carte restaurants, ''Milos'' being the best. The food was good though there was no change of presentation or food offered in the buffet. From morning to evening it was always the same thing. We also enjoyed going on a few excursions. Though, I must add, the Sunwing Agent should make it a point in answering our questions truthfully. For one excursion, we asked four times  [... read more]if the excursion was overly extenuous, we were told all four times no. There should be no problems even if you have sore knees or asma. Only when we got on site were we given a pamphlet describing that excursion as being strenuous. We did have to take breaks and also my sister did need to pull out her breathing pump. There was a constant animation from exercising in the sea, to various activities. Animation in the evening as well. All in all I would easily give it a 8 out of 10. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Very Enjoyable Holiday!

My fiance and I traveled to the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville, La Romana from Feb 20-27, 2018. AIRPORT TRANSFER: Shuttle from Punta Cana airport was about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Check-in was quick and easy. POOLS: The pools were nice (a tad cold but tolerable). Lots of loungers were available at the pools and there was quite a bit of shade available as well. You had two options - the quieter pool or the main pool by the beach. If you like lots of activity, definitely go to the  [... read more]main pool as that is where all the fun is. The animation team is fantastic! One of the best I have seen and I have traveled extensively to all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. Both pools have swim up bars. The washrooms by the pool were exceptionally clean! There was someone in there cleaning them every hour or so. BEACH: The beach is really beautiful, in my opinion. We enjoyed taking walks along the beach. They are in the process of developing the area with condos so right now the beach is nice and quiet - not a lot of people unless they are fellow walkers from the Bahia. Many people comment on the water and the fact that it is murky. I do not agree with this statement. No it is not crystal clear, however it is perfectly clean and swimmable. And you can see that aqua color in the distance so it still feels like you are in the Caribbean. The best way to describe the water is that it is more the color of a lake that you would find back home (we are from Ontario, Canada). Beach chairs were plentiful. The front row of chairs (closest to the waterline) were reserved quite early in the morning but there were still lots of chairs by about 9am. And there is a ton of shade between the palm trees and the huts. FOOD: Food was really good! The buffet had lots of options. Yes, it's somewhat repetitive but it always is. And the a la cartes were really, really good. We loved the Don Pablo restaurant the best. We also enjoyed Los Corales (Brazilian) and the Japanese restaurant. No shortage of good food here. My only issue is the reservation system. It seems reservations book up very fast so my recommendation is that you book asap. TIP: Load the Bahia app on your phone in advance and as soon as you are settled into your room, take 10 minutes to book your restaurants. Alternatively you can go to Guest Relations at reception and book. SERVICE/TIPPING: Service in the buffets was lacking at times. Sometimes you wouldn't be offered water/coffee for 5-10 minutes after arriving (or at all). This is an area they could improve upon. Service at the bars was good - didn't have any issues there. Tipping wasn't overly prevalent at the resort. It's nice to tip when the service warrants it, but it doesn't seem to be an expectation. This was a nice change from other resorts that I have been to. WI-FI: The free Wi-Fi was great. No issues at all. Great reception throughout the entire resort including pools and beach! I'm not sure why anyone would bother upgrading to their "premium Wi-Fi" which you have to pay for. ROOMS: The rooms were very spacious and clean. They have minor aesthetic issues (not really issues unless you are picky) - scuffs on walls, older looking tiles. Nothing major at all. They provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a dental kit, shaving kit, shower cap and robes. And they have a hair dryer in the room. And the outlets work with North American plugs. No adaptors or converters required. Beds were firm but comfortable and they have a menu of pillows to choose from which is nice. One issue that we found was that around 5pm there was limited water pressure and hot water. But it passed quickly so we just learned to wait it out and everything was fine. They offer room service but the menu looked limited and we never tried it. We had a room facing the quiet pool which was nice but really, you will have a decent view anywhere you are. The grounds are stunningly manicured with lots of greenery and flowers. The only issue here is with the TV. There are NO English channels. Well, one channel has sporadic English programming in the morning but otherwise nothing! I get that we are not on holidays to watch TV but it is nice to go back to your room before dinner or before bedtime and switch on the TV for a bit. We asked the front desk about this and apparently they recently switched TV providers so they are looking into the issue. So perhaps this will be rectified. TIP: bring your tablet and use Netflix. It streams really well in the room. You could also bring an HDMI cable or use Chromecast to cast to the TV if you want to watch it on the big screen. ENTERTAINMENT: There is a small casino onsite with slot machines and a few tables - blackjack and roulette. They do allow locals into the casino so sometimes the tables are occupied but if you wait, you can usually get in. Nighttime entertainment was enjoyable. You can either watch the big shows at the Bahia Principe or there is entertainment in the Luxury Bahia lobby. We didn't try the disco so not sure what that is like. We would definitely return to this resort in the future, and would recommend it to others.

We stayed at the luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville on Feb 18-23. We researched this resort extensively on Google earth and on YouTube before going so I had certain expectations going in. The picture's or video's didn't do it justice. The resort is spotless from the main lobby to the beach and everywhere in between. The rooms were spotless as well. The beach water isn't aqua blue but the beach itself more than made up for it with the megalithic palm trees. A very tropical feel which is exactly what I was looking for. The food was all good no matter where we ate. The Buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were hot and fresh. Different Selections every day. Different themes for dinner every night. We ate at 2 ala cart restaurants, the Brazilian and the signature Don Pablo restaurant. Both were out of this world good. The filet mignon is indescribable. The drinks weren't too weak but not too strong, they were just right all the time. I would suggest that you bring a "bubba", the supplied cups are pretty small. The staff are all helpful and friendly. Almost all spoke some english so if your Spanish isn't up to snuff you'll still be ok. Overall everything exceeded what I hoped this vacation was going to be. If a quiet relaxing vacation in a lush tropical enviroment is what you are looking for then this is the place for you.

We had a wonderful time. Hotel was lovely, rooms were spacious and modern and clean. Lots of Great food. The grounds are beautiful. It's not a loud party place but had some nightly entertainment that was enjoyable. Very accommodating loved having a Butler service with the privilege package. Make sure to inquire about what he can offer during your stay.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great trip except for AirTransat flight

We had a great time at the resort. They were a little unorganized for arriving and departing guess. Bus issue and check on issues. The worse was the flight. Air Transat has reduce leg room. I am a petite lady and my knees touched the front seat causing knee pain. Many passengers complained. Will think twice before even booking with Air Transat travel again
