Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron was just "ok"
My wife and I have never been to this resort and here is our unbiased review. We were at the resort the last 2 weeks in Jan 2024.
We had a great time at the resort, but we probably would not be returning again. Nothing major happened, but a bunch of "could be better" items just added up. The grounds were nice and kept up. Getting around the resort was fairly easy and not crowded at all. Pools near our Block 6 were not crowded, and were fairly quiet. Nice music coming from the bar a[... read more]rea at Block 6 and was not obnoxious and was a good nice atmosphere. Staff was ok, and friendly. I'm sure that we never took advantage of all the amenities that the resort offered, but then again we didn't hear of any either other than what was playing at the Auditorium and when.
A bunch of positives are the buffet, which was actually really good and we commented many times that the buffet food was good and lots of variety. On the most part, food was usually fresh and warm, but as all buffets, it usually gets cold by the time you get back to your table. Tables and lineups were not too long depending on the time you went - usually at a min at buffet.
The nightly shows were really great and we caught most of them. Hats off to the master of ceremonies and the crew of dancers - they were very good!!
Some of the "could be better" items.. The rooms are basic. My wife and I are not "high maintenance" and not "world travers" and are basic normal appreciative people. We originally were sent to building 2, but complained about the fruit type flies and oldness smelling of the room and asked to be moved. We then went to building 6, which was much more modern. Again, the small things add up, but in our building 6 room, there was a missing lamp shade, receptacles were extremely worn out (for chargers), all dresser drawers were not able to pull out/broken and a small fridge would have been a nice touch - but nothing fancy. The bed was so hard that we went to Walmart and bought a foam to put under sheets. We asked for thinner pillows but never got any , they were made more for long neck type individuals. The doors between the next room, if you had a large family and you could open them to be connected, were paper thin and you could hear virtually everything in the adjoining room. The noise from the rooms below and the room on the other side were fairly quiet.
The sun lounges were solid white plastic and looked really nice, but were extremely uncomfortable on the back and butt. They were SO much better after we bought floating air mattresses to put on the lounges to make them comfortable - big tip for future people!!. Lounges around the pools and beach were usually "taken" fairly early in the morning, and i mean early - at the beach, they were "taken" before 8am. Pretty typical for a resort, but it is frustrating to see lounges taken with towels, but not used for the day, again, pretty typical for any resort.
The restaurant reservation system is a joke to be honest. You have to register the "morning of" and you have to register online. With 4 restaurants and 600+ rooms, reservations are hard to get. The major frustrating problem is getting on to the WIFI, at 8am, and registering with 599 other rooms at the same time. By 8;10 am there are no other options left but buffet. If you are not "techy" on your phone, the buffet will be your go to. The 4 restaurants were different, but ok. The Italian was by far the best one for us.
Again, we would not go back to this resort, One also had to take a cab or ubur anywhere outside the resort. No shuttle service, or bus for any excursions either, I personally think the resort is rated higher than it is on line.

El Pueblito De Sayulita: Restful location in a chaotic town.
The best part of this hotel is the tranquility from the busy and chaotic main part of town.
Positives… New ownership and management. Cenen, the new manager, is working hard to learn the ropes and is listening to all reasonable suggestions.
This very safe hotel is in an excellent location, three minutes walk to the beach and and ten minutes walk to the main part of town.
Also… Leo and Jonathon in the restaurant are great. Breakfast is wonderful, as well as the homemade guacamole. Empa[... read more]ro, the reservation manager, goes above and beyond to assist, as well as Alexandro in the office who is trying hard to perfect his English. The pool is cold but clean and there are usually plenty of chairs which are kept clean. The bedrooms are great, clean and have comfortable beds.
The hotel needs a bit of love to bring it back to what it was meant to be. The big wooden chairs in the suites are impossibly dreadful, and the daybeds in most suites are located where the tv cannot be viewed. The kitchens are poorly outfitted and this would be an inexpensive fix. (ie ..we had three forks and two spoons for a unit designed to accommodate six people).
Overall, we are very pleased with our hotel choice.

Crown Paradise Golden: Crown golden pv
Another trip done at crown golden in pv we found the same great people trying do the work with not enough staff long lines on the bars and snack bars the old hotel is getting very tired. Rooms were clean but we had no water in the room on our last day the food was good I think the owners should let the people on the beach sell you a tour and take more pride in the service they provide After 6 times at the crown I think it is time to move on but I will miss the location and the s[... read more]taff. Our stay at this hotel was excellent. The service was great, meals and drinks were always well looked after, and the 3 special dinner restaurants were 2nd to none. Definitely would stay here again and recommend to others.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Exceeded my expectations
Great location on the grounds and just outside to BUCERIAS. All fine til going home This is the only area to write seconds on boarding plane we were told to disembark aircraft due to mechanical issues 2 hour wait. Well then it went to 6 hour wait finally a 10 hour delay. Had to bring an empty plane from Toronto to pick us up and return home Air Transat issued food vouchers not worth more than one sandwich we left at 10.:10 pm arrival Toronto 3:30am We were given a $200.00 travel cred[... read more]it hardly worth a nites stay in a hotel that was available. Others missed there rides home. I drove but had to pull over twice to stay awake. Had zero alcohol for last 48 hours and a scary ride home pulled into my driveway at 7:00am. Saturday. Waste of a next day. $200.00 hardly covers what we all had to endure. Air Transat should have put us in a room for the night and flew out the next day East enough to varify what I just wrote hoping for some further consideration for compensation from air Transat. As far as Manuela is concerned she was amazing. Cheers Kevin Cullen flight ?? #709. From puerto Vallarta

Tropicana Hotel: better than average hotel for PV
BIG thing - shuttle bus did not wait until we were through long lines at airport and left without us. We had to take a taxi. No one we've talked to has ever heard of such a thing.
small things -
only one room key - inconvenient for 2 guests
old style safe with key to unlock and avoid losing
letting guests keep cabana chairs all day long with a towel while not at the beach or the pool
need card in room explaining how phone works locally or between rooms

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Fun Resort
This was our first time here!
We had an ocean front room on the main floor that was super convenient with a nice patio to sit out on. Our room was close to 3 of the pools, the beach & beach front bar & nice common areas to sit around close by. It was amazing going to sleep every night listening to the waves crashing on the shore!
We mostly ate at the buffet by pool 1. The serving staff was great, very attentive & polite. The buffet had plenty of variety & definitely we found enough to eat t[... read more]hat we liked. I would have an omelet made everyday by a lovely lady. One issue was not having all of the Ala carte restaurants open every day. We only made one booking as you had to be online at 8am to get into one of the available restaurants. As it was I messed up the booking but they let us stay as they had a few empty tables.
We just stuck with the buffets from that point. We had no issues getting pool chairs either, which was nice.
There is some need for upgrades, & upkeep needed around the place, but for the most part everything was really good. We attended a couple of the evening shows & they were great! It's a great location to walk into Bucerias. Definitely should wear runners on the rocky roads! We enjoyed our time here!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Needs an upgrade
Overall we had a great time. Our first visit to this resort was 6 years ago. Love the location-close to Sayulita and downtown PV. Staff were wonderful. Our room was clean but dark. The pot light above the toilet in our room started dripping halfway through our 10 day stay. We reported it to the front desk 3 times and it was not fixed. The food was not the best sometimes lukewarm. The bathroom at the flamingo buffet was dirty and had black mold on the ceiling. The bathroom by the main pool was st[... read more]inky and gross. Seemed like there was never enough places to sit in the evening at the bars or to watch the show at the main pool. Not sure if I would go back.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: A Lovely Vacation!
We stayed at the Hacienda (adults only) side of Krystal Grand. This hotel was not perfect, with the reservation system still a work in progress (while we were there, showing up at 5:15 PM to line up to reserve a place in 1 of 3 evening seatings, worked well for us), and my fellow tourists hogging loungers and chairs with towels for many hours. As well, the housekeeping can come anytime up to 5 PM, which was not always convenient for us. However, we found that the resort's benefits far outweig[... read more]hed these minor inconveniences. The resort's location is convenient, close to the airport and Marina, and a short Uber ride to the Malecon and Old Town. There is a nearby supermarket within easy walking distance (Chedraui). We absolutely loved the food (we could not understand some of the prior reviews--different tastes, perhaps?), both in the buffets and the a la Carte restaurants. There were many healthy and tasty options, including delicious soups, salads, cerviches, and main dishes with fish, chicken, pork, and beef. The room included a daily stocked minibar with beer, water, and soft drinks, a huge shower, quiet A/C and fan, large safe, satellite TV with many English channels including Hockey Night in Canada, and a very comfortable bed and linens. The pools on the Hacienda side were relaxing, with plenty of shade available as well as sunshine. We also enjoyed the views from the resort side's rooftop sushi bar. The room key on our wrist bands was super convenient, and staff were very friendly and helpful. To obtain a chair or lounger, ask the towel concierge (do not take chairs from the nearby restaurant); the concierge may remove towels from unoccupied loungers (as for the people who later returned, after we had been enjoying them for over 90 minutes, I advised them to speak to the concierge). On our last day we were still allowed to use the services after we vacated the room, enjoying lunch and refreshments before our wristbands were cut off before our transfer arrived. Wonderful value! We hope to come again!

Paradise Village Puerto Vallarta: Great Resort!!
The resort is extremely clean and well maintained. They are in the process of renovating there buildings and rooms. We were still in the non renovated building and room. It is definitely time as the room is dated and furniture and mattress are old.
This is our second time to this resort. We loved the addition of the Sky Bar. You do get 1 Ala carte in the sky bar part of the All Inclusive. It is not part of the all inclusive if you want to go there for drinks or a snack. There will be a charge. [... read more]We were fine with this as it was a great place for an evening cocktail.
Paradise Village in my opinion has the best spot along the beach. Great for swimming and boogie boarding. Lots of palapas on the beach. Never had an issue getting a spot for 4 people. We had no issues with our food selection at any of the restaurants or the snacks during the day. The staff at this resort were amazing during our stay. Will definitely be coming back again to Paradise Village.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron Complex
We were shocked when we entered our room. Very poor lighting, 2 lights in the room plus a pole lamp that was busted, lamp shade was destroyed and no plug for it so not sure why it was even there. One dresser that was filthy and broken. Bathroom vanity had two broken doors, no shelves, literally open to the floor. We had cold water in our room for the first four days then after many complaints to front desk and maintenance staff we had luke warm water for the rest of the week. Very uncomfortable [... read more]for showering! There were only two receptacles in the room for phone chargers, etc. and no Wi-Fi reception in room or on balcony.
The complex is very spread out and quite nice. Grounds are well maintained and staff were very pleasant. Pools are nice. Bars are nice. Buffet areas are nice and clean and people working in the buffets are very friendly. However, the food in the buffets was not the best. Food was almost always cold, there were warming trays under all the food trays but it didn't look like they used them at all. Unless you got something that was just brought out, it was cold. Even some dishes just brought out were cold, like out of the fridge cold!
The wi-fi on the complex is terrible. Very poor coverage and moving from one area to another got you kicked off the wi-fi and you had to login every single time. Very frustrating. You also need the wi-fi and a phone to get a reservation at one of the a la carts. That is also a very frustrating experience. You have to login at 8:00 am, choose the date, choose the restaurant, choose for how many people (maximum of 2 people / reservation), choose a time, enter your room number and your bracelet number all in a matter of seconds because every spot is taken for every sitting in literally 90 seconds! Good luck with that! And if you want to go with another couple you both have to be at a spot with wi-fi at 8:00am and you both have to do this and hope you get in. Also with hundreds of guests on wi-fi trying to to the same thing at the same time you will most likely get kicked off the wi-fi and you will be having buffet for supper! It's a terrible system and if only two out of five or six a la carts are open you will most likely not get in. Many guests I spoke with gave up trying after the first day.
The location is nice. We walked to Bucerias a couple of times, also went out for dinner in Bucerias. The resort has bicycles that you can use to go for a ride, however the bicycles are not in the best of condition.

Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta: Amazing week!
We were extremely happy with our stay at the Hard Rock, it was clean, all of the staff were attentive, extremely friendly and accommodating. Shout out to the waiter, Rafa, who always had a smile, and Cheyanne for the best omelettes. The food was great, as well the entertainment ! Our only complaint was the time share people who are over the top pushy for the first couple of days and again on checkout. Otherwise an amazing week, we would come back again!

Riu Flamingos: Overall Really Happy with Resort
Gonna keep this short and sweet cause I know I hate reading those long winded reviews.
THE GOOD
The grounds were well kept and clean.
The food was probably the best at any resort i've been too so far. Lots to choose from.
The pools (one smaller, quieter one and one bigger with swim up bar and music) were nice and no problems finding chairs at 9:00/9:30am, if you didn't go down super early.
The beach was good, also a lot of chairs if you didn't go down early.
The room was good. I like[... read more]d that you can choose to have your room cleaned or not like a regular hotel.
Staff was friendly and accommodating.
The beach vendors (handful of them throughout the day) didn't hound you. If you said no, they moved on. There was also a hut on the beach where you could purchase the same items.
THE NOT SO GOOD
One thing I didn't like about the resort was how loud the nightly entertainment was. I don't think it mattered where on the resort you were staying but i'm sure you could hear it clear as day. We sort of faced toward the stage area and the walls shook at times.
The resort is in a "U" shape with 6 floors and only one elevator in the main lobby area. If you are older or unable to do a lot of stairs, I would request something on the first floor or near the elevator.

Could use more lounge chairs by pool and beach ! fantastic, breakfast buffets at both the Crystal grand and Hacienda great/personable staff hacienda side! If you don’t tip you don’t get washcloths.

Our 5th repeat visit, obviously we like it. Grounds are beautiful, as is the beach. Staff are amazing! Super friendly. Rooms are very basic, but clean. Buffets had fresh fruit daily, and nice salads.
