Melia Las Dunas: Fantastic staff

Hotel is dated but always clean rooms and property. Pools and beach are fantastic. The best part of the the resort is the staff. All are fantastic, caring, and so willing to be helpful, and do it with a smile.

Hello Tripcentral. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback. The Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort is a general purpose 4Star OK resort. Knowing the limitations \ restrictions placed on Cuba the resorts have a hit \ miss presentation. First the Good: Very family oriented, providing baby services for parents and 2 child pools that the kids can play safely. In the evening lobby turns into a playground for the kids for the firsts few hours. No problem with the room service,  [... read more]room AC no problem, shower water pressure no problem, flushing is a problem…you have to flush multiple times and wait in between in order for the tank fill up. Short drive from airport to resort…excellent..20min. All the elevators except for one were out of service, primarily used by bell boys for delivery. If you are and elder or have leg \ back problems good luck climbing the stairs. Beach very clean, no problem. Weather was poor, cloudy, 3 days of sun rest cloudy and cool. The pool never heated up. No fault of Cuba. Snack bar provides sandwiches, fries, and fruit, perfect for a quick bite and for kids who only need fries to much on. Buffet Restaurant: selection of food is limited due to the restrictions and financial expenses. The pork no meat very greasy, chicken so-so, beef so-so. Found all the food to be mild warm \ cold, this I did not like. Desert Table: Large selection of sweets, fruit, cheese, no problem excellent. I do not understand why parents allow their children to help themselves at the desert table. Parents are ignorant, you should be ashamed. Infront of me 3 kids not capable of holding the plate \ saucer \ ice cream bowl kept dropping and making a mess on the counter and floor. Is this how you teach your kids at home to behave. Every parent should be charged extra for the damage their kids do. In simple terms, your kids behave like animals, no fault when the parents are ignorant. No Leaf Salad: disappointed in this, tomatoes was a hit \ miss, no Q-cumber. Breakfast: excellent no problem, had eggs. Lobby \ Bar: In the evening 9:30pm the lobby and the bar become the focal point show stage. The area is full of tourist, there is no air circulation, the heat is barely tolerable. This is a very poor design, almost like an afterthought. Getting \ waiting for service on the floor…good luck..it may arrive next week. Yes the resort is kept clean. Bar: No Liquor, no dark rum, no cream Reservation – booking: made 2 weeks in advance and requested top floor of building. Upon arrival was given 2nd floor. The resort is well appointed as a 4star, it will never improve to overcome the many challenges it has.

I recently visited Cuba and, in light of the country’s current conditions, I wish to acknowledge the exceptional professionalism and dedication of the Cuban people. The staff and service providers were consistently courteous, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They work diligently to ensure tourists feel comfortable and valued, despite frequently lacking access to basic necessities in their own lives, including reliable medication, food supplies, water, and electricity. Their efforts deserve ex [... read more]plicit recognition. The food provided at the resort restaurants was of good quality, with a reasonable variety. Meals were generally fresh, well prepared, and healthy. However, my experience with the hotel property operated by Meliá Hotels International, a Spanish hotel chain, was entirely unacceptable and fell far below the standards of a hotel advertised as five-star. I stayed at the hotel for 11 days (10 nights) and was required to change rooms three times due to persistent and serious hygiene issues. First room: There was a strong and unmistakable smell of urine. Upon opening the bedding, I observed multiple dark yellow stains across the mattress. No mattress protector was in use. Second room: I requested a room change and was moved the following day. Prior to accepting the room, I asked to inspect the mattress and was refused. Initially, the odor was less noticeable, likely due to extensive use of air freshener before guest occupancy. Once the room was adequately ventilated and the balcony door closed, the smell of urine became evident, similar to the first room. Several days later, a severe thunderstorm caused the air conditioning system to fail. The combination of heat and persistent odor made it impossible to sleep. I woke at approximately 1:30 a.m. and contacted the front desk. I was informed that the air conditioning would be restored shortly; it was not. After a second call, I went in person to the reception at approximately 4:00 a.m., exhausted and unable to remain in the room. Third room: This room presented the same conditions: a noticeable smell of urine, visible urine stains on the mattress, and again, no mattress protector. It is entirely unacceptable that a hotel marketed as a five-star property fails to provide fundamental hygiene standards, including clean, unstained mattresses, the use of mattress protectors, and rooms with clean, breathable air. Responsibility for these conditions rests with Meliá Hotels International as the hotel owner and operator. The local Cuban staff demonstrated consistent effort and professionalism and are clearly constrained by resources and conditions beyond their control. The issues described reflect systemic management and maintenance failures by the hotel chain, not deficiencies in local staff performance. Given the duration of my stay and the repeated nature of these problems, this experience represents a serious breach of basic hospitality standards and should be addressed at the corporate level.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Good Value

This was our second stay here. The first was 3 years ago, the beach is paradise, the people are beautiful. The property is in amazing shape. There was always power, hot water and something to eat, pizza at the pool bar is a nice touch, grilled chicken sandwiches at the beach were awesome. The Buffet was lacking but in all fairness there was only 150 people, low season. My only complaint was the beds, very old and lots of springs, nothing a chiropractor can’t fix.

Melia Costa Rey: Cuba

Meliá Costa Rey was a great resort with extremely helpful and pleasant staff including groundskeepers and pool staff. The food was very good and abundant compared to what the locals are able to get outside of the resort. The rooms were great although we had trouble with the AC and damp sheets. Lots of activities if you wanted and beautiful beaches.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: This is an amazing resort for a 2 1/2 star rating.

This is an amazing resort even though it's not a 5 star resort, but because the staff are amazing. Also the repeat tourist are happy and friendly and make your stay more relaxing and enjoyable. The food selection is basic but good, you will not starve. The beach is great and the pool is clean both are good to cool off in after being in the hot sun. Sometimes there are shortages in some food and booze but that is only because of the lack of tourist. The more tourist the resort gets the more suppl [... read more]ies they can purchase. We have been going to this resort for 17 years and will go back again because I really enjoy it there. I also want to thank Rick Lockhart from Tripcentral for all his help booking my trips over the years, I really enjoy dealing with Rick because of his helpfulness and friendly personality.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: LOVE the staff and the beach

Very attentive wait staff. Wonderful very clean beach. Pool was ideal. Will definitely make sol rio our annual go to resort in cuba To top it off...the airport in Holguin is so easy to fly in and out of

Paradisus Varadero: paradisus Varadero

lot of drastic changes in the wrong direction. that made us very upset and angry, the management ruining this beautiful place, which is very sad, very basic food items are not available, and the selection is very poor, this resort was our favorite, but not anymore. no more Cuba for us!

Melia Las Americas: Great resort.

Melia Las America is a great resort. The rooms, pools and service are exceptional. Tha access to the golf course is convenient. I love this golf course. This trip was all I expected. We will definitely return.

Playa Vista Azul: Nice resort

We were a group of five girls and had an amazing time. The resort grounds were kept in very great condition. We ate at every place that we could, and we’re pleasantly pleased with everything that we had. There wasn’t a huge selection, but it was during the off-season so that was understandable. We spent every day at the big beach and loved it. Loved the personal service from the beach bar employees. The main lobby was a fun place to be every night and the staff there were incredible. Wat [... read more]ching the sunset over the infinity pool every night was breathtaking. Staff in all parts of the resort were friendly and accommodating. To mention a few of our favorites… Gilberto in the main lobby, Camilla and Hanley in the buffet, Andie and George in the 24 hour snack bar, Rafael, Yandy and Jose down at the beach, Michael at the beach bar and the pool bar. There was one special cleaning lady in the main lobby, whose name I don’t know, but she was amazing. Evian and Adam and Frank driving the carts were always fun to see! Our room in building 3 was pretty rundown, but we did have excellent air conditioning, lots of hot water and our toilet worked properly. The staff and how pretty this resort is really contribute to the high rating.

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort

The resort grounds are kept impeccably clean. All of the food we ate at the buffet, à la carte, snack bar, 24 hour bar, were all wonderful. The infinity edge pool looking out to the sunset every night was beautiful. We spent every day at the big beach, so I’m not sure how the small beach was. The staff at all parts of the resort were very friendly. Starfish Guardalavaca: The hotel is good, within reasonable expectations.

I stayed at the hotel from December 1st to 12th. The weather was varied: wind, rain, but mostly sunshine. Temperatures ranged from 23 to 28C. Water temperature was around 27C. My room was on the second floor. Everything would have been fine, but the refrigerator didn't work, nor did the TV remote. I couldn't get the air conditioning to work properly. Renovations were underway in the adjacent rooms. The picture is clear. The food was so good that no one starved to death. The brownish tap water  [... read more]was also drinking water. I won't repeat the many well-known typical complaints. The snack bar worked well, better than expected. But the loud, annoying "music" drove people away from the pool next to the bar. The area around the pool was always empty. There was no shade, and the pounding noise (music) was nonstop. Add to this the constant shouting of the staff and local guests everywhere. The beach is excellent, or rather, two small ones. There's enough shade. The sand is perfect. No need for beach shoes. Nature lovers won't have it easy. The forest is far, and the paths through it were half-overgrown with thorny bushes. There are plenty of coral reefs in the surrounding sea, but they're mostly dead. Otherwise, the hotel is very good for a three-star hotel.

Sol Cayo Coco: A waste of money

One thousand dollars wasted on the premium package. Small selection and amount of food, poor selection of drinks. Cockroaches in bread basket and on the toaster in dining room. It goes on and on. Very friendly staff but they have nothing to work with. I blame the resort owners. Read the 1 star reviews, they are tell you the truth.

Roc Barlovento: Our second home

The Cuban people are working very hard to keep their repeaters. The gardeners have no equipment to work with but do the best they can. Grounds look amazing. The hotel is kept very clean. And the food is what is provided for them which is good compared to what they have in their own homes. The beach and ocean is amazing. The best I have seen in all our travels. I would go again in a heartbeat ?

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Fun times at Grand Aston Varadero

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel- clean rooms, good food, best staff especially the Beach Bar. Reviews about beach being horrible is not accurate - it may not be equivalent to beaches further down the strip but still beautiful.

Bonjour Kevin, Nous ne sommes pas des voyageurs difficiles alors pour nous tous s'es bien passer et les petits problèmes on été règler rapidement. 1. Emplassement: situer à 20 minutes en taxi de l'aéroport ou entre 30 à 45 minutes en autobus selon les arrêts à faire. 2. Resort comme tel: pas trop petit n'y trop vaste, un très bon juste milieu. Il a environ 25 ans et est entretenu convenablement. 3. Chambre. Première chambre (Bloque 19) n'était pas convenable. Première chose que je vérifie le [... read more] coffre fort pas fonctionnel, manque de couverture et seulement 2 vers. 3ième lit en place m'est pas de couverture. Notre agent mis au courant de la situation et le resort à rectifier amicalement la situation en nous changent de bloque (bloque 24 unité 2416 chambre parfaite pour les femmes). Ils sont en rénovation dans certain bloque pour un up grade. 4. Manger: Excellent , oui à l'occasion il peut manquer certain item mais ont ne peut ce plaindre. Service et propreté numéro 1 à tout les emplacement. (Snack bar, buffet et à la carte). 5: La force du Resort, SA PLAGE ELLE EST INCROIYABLE.

Melia Las Antillas: 10 times to Cuba, worst food by far

The positive reviews about the food have to be fake. I've been to Cuba 10 times, different resort every time. Not a picky eater at all but the food here was by far the worst. This is a 2.5 star resort. The staff is amazing, beach is amazing, resort is kind of old but everything works fine, decent wifi. But man the food is atrocious. Have a huge breakfast because lunch and dinner is not edible.

The One Gallery Hotel: Amazing resort

This was an amazing experience for us. The hotel is clean and fairly new. The staff were soooo helpful. Crisp sharp black and white uniforms...smiling faces and eager to help. The food was amazing. Lots of variety and live entertainment during meals. They had roast beef! Been to Cuba many times and never had beef. Rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. Pillows are a little mushy.
