Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful Resort

The hotel and grounds were very well kept, my room was spacious and clean. Buffet had a good selection of food. Beach was amazing. unfortunately as the hotel has a 1000 rooms and was at capacity staff were unable to keep up with demand. Understaffed and it showed. I would not go back only reason being too many people, we like get to interact with the staff.

The resort is very large, all kept. The staff are very friendly. Our maid was thale best. Internet was hit or miss. Excellent beach, great variety of food, snack bar was always hot. I would go back

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Resort

The resort was nice, clean and the staff were friendly. There were lots of fun activities to do. We really enjoyed the catamaran, kayaks and paddle boats. Volleyball is really popular at the resort but unfortunately there was only one beach volleyball net so we often had to wait awhile to play. I would definitely take my own tennis rackets and balls next time as the courts were great but the hours the tennis equipment was available were short and unreliable. The ocean water is really clear and blue and its a lovely walk along.the beach.The ice cream parlor and 24 hour snack bar were big hits. Often we preferred to order off the snack bar menu over waiting in line in the crowded buffets. We were surprised that we could get our group of 8 into our preferred a la cartes at decent times... the deep fried ice-cream at the oriental one was amazing! We had a great time at this resort.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing resort

Beautiful place, spacious, rooms are big. unfortunately some rooms are lucking some necessities and that is bringing it down. Beach is amazing, service is very good, no wifi most of the time. food is ok, drinks very good, customer service very helpful, especially Jany Armentero Valdima. an entertainment is second to none, overall I would give 4.5 stars and we would definitely return.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Pretty beach but I'd go elsewhere...

I spent a week in early January at the Memories Caribe Beach Resort with a friend – my second trip to Cuba. The good included the rooms, the pools and the pizza in the snack restaurant near the pool (plus the pasta bar in the buffet). The beach was beautiful but had biting bugs that Off didn’t seem to repel – we ended up not going there much after the first couple days to avoid getting bitten. The bad included in general the food (the a la carte restaurants are NOT worth reserving), and [... read more] the day outing we went on (we had a really bad experience at the dolphin swim; the promised luxury buffet was basic and lousy, and several other things were not as promised). Too, Cuba has a reputation for having real nice people and we ran into several outright rude people working at the resort and for the Sunwing tour. Finally, the return trip was badly organized – little indication as to the bus to get onto go to the airport, what line to stand in, paying for upgrades seats (credit cards not accepted), etc. Bottom line: we are two younger women and I enjoyed more my last trip to the Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca – better varied food and a better atmosphere for us, despite being lower rated and cheaper. And, if we can afford it, in the future we’ll opt for Mexico instead…

Melia Costa Rey: Beautiful Scenic Resort

The resort was clean and well maintained. The food was better than expected for Cuba - I actually looked forward to my lunch every day at their BBQ restaurant. The bar tenders were always ready to serve and got to know you, so they were always ready for refills. Our rooms were cleaned well everyday. The service was generally pretty good, with a few servers at the buffet that didn't look overly happy to be there. But other than those few, the service was great. Great pool entertainment, and e [... read more]vening shows. Its not a huge resort, so you never felt overwhelmed by other people. We always had our space by the pool and on the beach. We never waited more than 3 minutes in line for food. It was also nice to see the ocean from the infinity pool, and was a very short walk from the pool area to the ocean. (1 minute) I loved the short 10 min. bus ride to and from airport. First ones off, last to be picked up.

Melia Costa Rey: Nice resort, great views, a few minor issues

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Pullman, and it is a good resort for Cuba. The view of the ocean from the lobby and from the pools themselves are great. It's location is perfect, it's at the end of the row with a large beach, and has just a nature area to the one side with another resort on the other. Many of the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Omelio at the pool bar gave us great service all week, be sure to seek him out! Many of the staff speak very fluent English  [... read more]and French, more so than I even expect visiting a foreign country. The front desk staff were always very helpful. Some of the staff weren't as helpful and the odd one was a bit rude. One of the bartenders insulted a member of our group for no apparent reason. Overall the staff was friendly though. For food, overall for the reputation Cuba has for food it was above our expectations. The A la Carte restaurants were quite good, our group enjoyed all three, the French restaurant was the best. The buffet had some good food stations where pasta, pizza, eggs etc. were made fresh to order, and the staff running them were very friendly and made sure you got what you wanted. The rest of the buffet wasn't the greatest variety. For example with the sliced meat there was ham, ham... and well.. ham. It's also the exact same set of food each meal all week. The food was generally warm but sometimes a bit cooler than it should be, and the ice cream quickly melted to a slurry by the end of every meal. For seating it was often difficult to find a clean table that was set up, there pretty much always was an empty table but it could take a while for a server to bring you cutlery etc. There is a BBQ buffet by the pools for lunch each day, you could get a custom made stir fry, fresh BBQ'd meat etc. and our group looked forward to it each day. There's a snack bar to one side that serves hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches when the other restaurants are closed. During lunch you could never quite figure out what the snack bar had as you often got told no not now for stuff they'd have all the rest of the day, bluntly so at times. It was a bit confusing but there was plenty of food to choose from otherwise. The pools were fantastic. They were clean, never crowded, lots of sun and shaded areas to sit, the pool bar was nearby with service brought to your chairs, it was where we spent most of the time. The beach is very large, with lots of huts for shade. The bars were well stocked with good service and the lobby bar was open 24/7. The coffee at the lobby bar in the morning was really good (far better than the buffet coffee which was a bit watered down). One odd note, though a person was there for fresh towels at 9am every day, there were never any towels until 11am or so. The rooms were nicely decorated, there was TV with a couple English channels as well as other international languages. They were clean, we did have some ants but a bit of bug spray deterred them from coming back. We did have a lot of issues with our toilet not flushing, we basically had to call every morning for it to be fixed. Someone would be there and fix it quickly, but by the next day it wouldn't work again. Other guests also mentioned the toilets didn't work well. The shower was a large standup glass one with a tub area as well, and the counter had lots of space. I highly recommend the "Spectacular" excursion where you visit Ciego de Avila and Moron, it was great to see the actual country of Cuba, with a great drive through the countryside and lots of activities including a crocodile farm and a boat ride. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I don't think we'd rush back for a second visit. I would recommend it as a good option for Cuba.

The resort is beautifull, the room are average The day we got there, shower was not working and toilet stop working too The room was clean , but we travel with a baby so the location was not for us could not sit outside too close to the beach very noise and lots of mosquitoes, staff is amazing They offer to send us to another resort no extra charge , they came with us for the transfer they took care of everything thumb up to them

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Too many stairs for a senior

Thank you but too many stairs for a senior - also my friend got stomic sick on the flight down and was down for 4 days, not a great start by NOBODY fault - anyone know where we could find a place with less stairs

I travelled with a friend for 7 days in January. I've been to Cuba twice before but not Cayo Coco, all of the reviews I read were decent for Cuba so I had some hopes for this resort. I was not disappointed!! The beach is beautiful and the sand is fine and white, it never blows around no matter how windy it gets. Even with a full resort t [... read more]he beach looks empty. The resort was immaculate and the rooms were nice but our room was definitely in need of some TLC. We didn't mind because we didn't plan on staying inside much anyway. Beds are hard, bathroom is beautiful and spacious. The shower is a rainfall type and we always had good pressure and never ran out of hot water. There is no door on the shower but if you adjust the shower head you don't spray much on the floor. Working iron and hair dryer. Our safe wasn't free and we didn't have a coffee maker in our room. The fridge was stocked everyother day, not daily. The staff are all incredible!!! The entertainment staff are lots of fun and were successful in getting a variety of people involved, music is mostly Salsa with a few main stream songs thrown in. They had live music every evening in the lobby and each night was different. They had a beach foam party the day we arrived (Friday) and again on Thursday but at the pool. The pools are smaller than any I've seen at other resorts but they have two that you can choose from. The pool bar has a waterfall and the staff always available to either bring drinks to you or you can swim up and order. The dancers are incredibly talented and each night there was a different show, we both loved going every night. Food, well it's Cuba...don't expect to have high quality food but we never went hungry. Neither of us got sick and we both tried a variety of foods. The buffet is always the same but not many line ups as they have 3 grills going and also a pasta and pizza bar. The pizza and pasta were sooooo delicious! Eggs, fruit and bread every morning and lots of fish available everyday. They make burgers and fries as well and pork and beef. Other than the buffet there were two other snack bars that always had burgers, salads and fries. Sometimes chicken was grilled at the beach grill but we only seen that available one day out of 7. We did not try any a la carts. We went to pillar beach and we were not disappointed, the beaches sand is like icing sugar and no seaweed to be seen for miles and miles. It's rated one of the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world, I highly recommend a trip or a few there! Drinks were plentiful and the bar staff always happy to serve, they seemed to enjoy their jobs and are often singing and dancing around a little. I definitely will be returning to this resort...before booking this trip I had mentioned that this would be my last in Cuba but I've completely changed my mind since vacationing at this resort.

Hotel Playa Coco: Excellent Beaches

This was my first vacation, and I thought I got good value for my money. I got a suite, which was spacious, and clean. However, I did not get my fridge stocked with water and soda. The beach was incredible, worth the whole trip. Water was beautiful and clear, lots of sand, and shade if you wanted it. The food was decent. Not memorable, but not bad. The daily pig roast at the beach was the highlight. The service was laid back. They did not have enough staff for top knotch service. Everyon [... read more]e worked at a steady pace- but didn`t rush. If you went to dinner late- you usually didn`t get a re-set table. I had a few meals with just leftover clean cutlery. I didn`t mind- but if you are a fussy person, you would be frustrated. The ice cream bar was wonderful, there were always chairs at the pool and beach. Drinks were great. Weather was wonderful. I had a good time, and would return.

A few minor issues with the resort, like some pathways being uneven and having poor lighting, a smell in some of the areas, mediocre food, but overall the resort was great. Friendly staff, great drinks, beautiful beach and pool area. A very relaxing and fun resort. I would recommend this resort for the price

Muthu Colonial Hotel: loaded with character and charm

This is my second stay at this hotel and I am looking forward to a return visit.The hotel is a short drive from the airport and is designed like a Spanish village.Despite being built several decades ago there have been renovations and a serpentine salt water pool added. Melia Costa Rey: Fun times!

It's been a few years since I've been to Cuba and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, they've come a long way. The resort is newer very nice modern decor. Beautiful view of the beach from the lobby. Rooms are nice and comfortable. Beach and pools are gorgeous with plenty of chairs. Food was surprisingly good for Cuba. They could step up the cleaning in the rooms a little and the public washrooms never had toilet paper. Although they are friendly staff they are a little slow. It is n [... read more]ewer and I feel they don't have enough staff or they aren't used to it being busy, and a lot of staff do not speak any English. Overall very enjoyable holiday.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great resort

The resort is well managed. The grounds are beautiful with lots of flowers and kept very clean. The food was good, well prepared and presented. The new beach was amazing, lots of space so it never feels crowded. Very comfortable and friendly.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great quality/price

We stayed in an upated room. Most rooms are seaview, they are basic and clean. The grounds are well cared for. Food was OK, something for everyone. Make sure your fish and chicken are cooked properly. Lobby quite nice. The best beach is definitely in Cayo Guillermo.

I appreciate the attention you afforded me. I will definitely call you again when I travel. This was by far the best experience I have had in Cuba. The staff really went out of their way to assist and make your stay comfortable in any way they could. They were full of smiles and ready to chat at any time a [... read more]nd not bcse it would get them a tip...on the contrary if anything I had a hard time tipping bcse they kept turning it down. Even the shop keepers were quite generous, I heard about people whose baggage was lost in travel were offered toiletries and sunscreen free. I tried to just buy a pen and they would not have it, but rather just giving me one (I know this seems trivial to us in Canada but in Cuba this is a very nice gesture) . The hotel was well maintained and clean. The grounds impeccable. The pools were clean. and well stocked with chairs and towels. The beach was fantastic with lots of places to swim and explore or to just sit and enjoy the Pelicans diving for their dinner. The mattresses and pillows were quite comfortable and seemed like they were just recently replaced. A real plus for me and my asthma, was the fans in the bathroom and the air conditioning vents were clean and free of dust and mold. They kept the fridges well stocked. I did not see any bugs in my room at all and no one I met had either. I would bring bug spray for the evenings as there were a few mosquitos around maybe bcse it is a nature reserve. I was travelling by myself and felt very safe in and around the hotel and with the staff. I found it amazing that two days after I got there, I went to the front desk and the woman remembered my room number! That was nice personal touch. The hotel is on a smaller scale ( I believe they said 390 rooms) so you never had to fight line ups and there was always room for you wherever you went. The food at this resort was by far better than any of the other places I have visited in Cuba...the bread was amazing I only would hope they get better at labelling their dishes so you can eat around any sensitivities you may have. The evening entertainment was super with a variety of things you could lose yourself in. Being from Canada I forgot that in Cuba smoking is allowed. On a few nights I was uncomfortable but when there was a nice evening breeze it was fine. However I think a designated smoking area would be beneficial for both sides of this argument. Thank you Rosa, Ciedel, Pablo, Horja, and Divan ( only a few of the names I remember) I hope to see you again. You made my first experience travelling alone a great one! In conclusion my only complaint is I didn't take a 10 day trip instead of a 7 day trip. Oh! One more thing the airport was not as intimidating as my last few trips to Cuba. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Friendly and cozy resort

We had a great stay at Sercotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Always ready to cater to our every need. It is a smaller resort but there was always plenty of food and the atmosphere was more welcoming than overwhelming. The grounds were kept clean and beautiful. It was truly a paradise get a way. We will definitely go back.

Hotel Playa Coco: Good BUT Sand Flea Bites

The Good: beautiful beach, room was cleaned well by our maid, water & supplies stocked when needed, grounds were nice, food was OK remembering it's Cuba, good service in the Buffet, small resort so no problem with pool chairs, staff was reasonably pleasant. Small resort so everything was close at hand. Ice cream shop was a nice touch. The BAD: Most of the tourists at the resort got badly bitten by sand fleas. By badly I mean severe welts and itching. Even with bug spray it didn't stop t [... read more]hem. Several people at the resort had to get medical attention there. My wife was so badly infected I had to take her to our Emergency department at our local hospital where she was given an ointment and a day & night pill for itching & infection. Next: Starting around noon the music & loud speaker in the pool area was deafening, you couldn't have a conversation with the person beside you. The same for the lobby in the evening. As the theatre was under renovation the staff moved it to the lobby. Again it was so loud you couldn't have a conversation. Not enough staff in the lobby or at the lobby / piano bar to take orders. It was easy to see the staff was lost as they would come out with drinks not knowing where to take them. On the same note the drinks were so inconsistent and some not the right mixture. Entertainment / activities were sub par. Too bad for the staff that the Bank & front desk never had small bills so when I ran out the tips ended. Again this is common in Cuba. Some toilets & urinals were plugged but I blame this on the tourists that would throw 'butts' in urinals & load toilets with paper. There wasn't a 'NO SMOKING' area in the lobby so several times we were forced to move our table. To sum it up I would not return. The reasons are the Sand Flea bites, service and we have been to much better for the dollar value.
