Playa Vista Azul: GREAT FACILITIESexcept for beach access & language barrier

Property was great in all aspects except hallway was not lit - thus VERY dark at night- could not see room # & had difficulty opening the door with key card Beach are was very small & cluttered Could do with some written info in the room re meal times - show times - amenity locations etc The only issue I have is with Air Canada Vacations Flights were poor - delays - poor connections Transfers - arrived in Varadero on schedule - through customs to the bus We sat on the bus waiting for over  [... read more]an hour- all passengers appeared to be on board There was a great delay for no apparent reason We were given no info on the trip except buy beer & book tours - tours - tours Arrived at the hotel after 1030 PM - all restaurants were closed - were hungry as we had not eaten since noon Our info session was booked for 9AM the following morning The ACC Rep - YOAN was useless He did not promote the hotel well - only a 15 minute presentation - gave no info re hotel amenities - No mention of the theater - spa - tennis courts etc. AGAIN BOOK TOURS TOURS with no details As a retired Travel Agent - If had I sent clients there I would be very very disappointed with the presentation they would have received Rep really did nothing to welcome guests or share any helpful info that would have made the vacation more pleasant - no written info I feel strongly that someone needs to evaluate him & perhaps provide a replacement I did speak with Customer Service on site & because of language barrier I received no satisfaction Many thanks

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good resort

The room was spacious and clean Variety of food Some workers were nice Clean pool Not enough light at night to find your room Some of the servers at the restaurant could be more attentive Public washroom in the lobby were out of use several time

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Wonderful Trip!

The resort was great and lead to an incredible beach. The staff was very friendly and the rooms and resort were kept clean. The food definitely met our expectations! It was also very convenient that there was a bus stop just a short walk from the entrance of the resort. The only thing we did not enjoy was smoking in most areas.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort

- Very clean - Huge resort, but everything is really in close proximity - Internet connection was acceptable - Vacationed to more than 12 resorts in Cuba including Cayo Coco, Cayo Santa Maria, Holguin, Santa Lucia and Varadero. This resort was much superior in terms of quality of food. Roc Barlovento: Great relaxing fun time

The entertainers!!!!!!! What a fantastic team. These girls and guys are a A+++ act. Enjoyed everything they did. The BEACH. Pristine. You can walk for miles and swim for hours. No other words The food. Very good 4 out of 5. The rooms. Okay. You don’t get a beach view. But so what. We weren’t there to look at the beach, we wanted to be on the beach. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Disappointing vacation

I am a return customer and therefore know what to expect from Cuban resorts. Unfortunately the hotel seems to have let its upkeep, grounds and rooms, decline to an unacceptable state. As has the buffet which has become mostly uneatable . ( Usually you can find a little something to sustain life, this trip it was questionable ). The staff has also become so unacomadating, throughout the entire week I met only three workers who were smiling and seemed to enjoy there jobs.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Resort

Just the right size to manage with walking although we walked a lot. The room was great. Even the food overall was fine. The beach is amazing white sand. The weather was great for January-we had one day when it was colder. The havana excursion is a "must do" for one time but the bus trip is terrible.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Friendliest staff ever!

Rooms are a little dated, at least in the bungalow that we stayed in. Lights in the bathroom were terrific but the rest of the room was dimly lit. Food was good but very inconsistent in “temperature “. Some foods in the buffet are warm, others are quite cool when they should be hotter. At the seafood restaurant, the potatoes served with the lobster were ice cold, and our plates were missing the vegetables we were told would accompany the lobster. Staff at the resort are phenomenal. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Service at Paradisus Princesa del Mar

The resort grounds are beautiful and well kept. The property is showing it’s age a bit with slightly dated rooms. We had excellent service from everyone from check in to the servers, beach staff and entertainment crew. Everyone friendly and helpful. Our room was kept spotless and well stocked. The food is the food in Cuba but we enjoyed the Sakura Japanese a la carte which was entertaining and had delicious food prepared in front of you. One thing I liked a lot was not having to wear a bracelet! Because the resort is at the far end of the peninsula there were no vendors on the beach and it was nice and quiet. There was a bit of seaweed but not enough to be smelly or get in the way.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Large Resort!

This is a very large resort that is well laid out. Very spacious as soon as you walk in. You are greeted by the friendly staff. Check in was seamless, with complimentary drinks to start off. I travelled with a couple friends, we were brought to our ‘suites’ by golf cart it that would’ve been a long walk with out luggage! Rooms were standard, with garden views. Not sure what was up with the rooms on the ground floor but I woke up with fresh bites from who knows what, bed bugs??!?? I saw other guests that got devoured worse than me, they complained & not sure what happened?? Music is upbeat, mainly top 40 & reggaeton from what I heard. Nightly entertainment went from 9:30 ish to around 12-1am. Pretty good party most night. Also, most nights got surprisingly chilly! Chilly enough for my wool toque, dress appropriately! The drinks were flowing endlessly so know your limits (or not) Why stop on vacation?!?! The beach was breathe taking, just a bit of a hike to the main lobby if you can’t find an Uber/golf cart to bring you back. It’s also where the main buffet is. The gym is sub par I guess you can’t expect much for that it is, I’m a gym-a-holic & was disappointed. Massages run between $50-100 pesos, we didn’t get around to try. Out of all the a la carte restaurants, Japan was the best & entertaining!

Resort was beautiful, well kept and clean. The food was awesome. The buffet lacked signage to tell you what the food was and the public washrooms could use a little TLC. There was no lack of food options. No complaints

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Amazing Staff and nice resort!!

Overall nice comfortable resort! Amazing food and lots of different choices daily! Cudos tobthe chef who did a Giant Paella dish at Bbq one day!! Can’t say enough about the most friendly AND. Accommodating Staff Best I’ve encountered in 19 trips to Cuba! Every dept day or nite fantastic people....made us feel like a celebrity!! Melia Varadero: Great resort!

My boyfriend and another couple visited this resort in mid January. Weather was great!!!! Cloudy at times but the perfect break from the sun. The beach is stunning and along the penisula. The resort its self has good food and THE BEST STAFF, so hospitable. I high recommend THE LEVEL upgrade. We upgraded when we got to the resort and it was no issue at all. It gives you access to a bar/cafe upstairs that always have food/premium beer etc. You also get free golfing which was great.The rooms were c [... read more]lean and comfortable. The entire resort was also immaculately clean. Our only downside to this resort was that we really enjoy a swim up bar, and a bit more of a lively animation entertainment.

Grand Memories Varadero: Best Resort in Varadero!

4th trip to Veradero 2nd time to Grand memories and will definitely go back to this resort. Some people complain about the food in Cuba but we found the food very good good here and I'm a very picky eater. The beach is beautiful and lounge chairs for everyone. There are lots of beautiful pools with swim up bars and great activities .the staff at Grand memories are some of the nicest people I have ever met especially Chino and Pedro from the entertainment team. Grand Memories Varadero: Grand Memories - Great Time!

First off I want to say I LOVE CUBA! It is an easy trip, guaranteed good weather, great people and total relaxation. We traveled as a family of 6: 2 Girls - ages 20 Son & Girlfriend - ages 22 & 20 My husband and I - ages 49 This is our 2nd time at Grand Memories and it has gotten even better. than the last time. Our check in was easy, they had all the rooms and bracelets ready for us - took us to our rooms in a nice golf cart - and the room was nicely air conditioned and had everything  [... read more]we needed. (this was a middle of the night arrival) Our room was made up every day before noon with cool towel art and nice notes. Hit the beautiful beach the next morning - no problem finding a lounge chair with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Beach was busy but not annoyingly busy. Pools - there are 2 HUGE pools to choose from - the activity pool has a few "sections" and something for everyone. Including a swim up bar, lots of activities and fun games with the AWESOME Entertainment Team (Chino & Pedro - were THE BEST...great guys, polite and very good at their job.) The quiet pool is near buildings 10 & 11 - has a cool waterfall, and neat rocks as well as a swim up bar - nice and quiet. Buffet - the buffet was WAY better than i remember. We usually sat in Jesus' section - as he was TOP NOTCH - he is EXCELLENT at his job and even though he is busy, he takes the time to chat with you about your day. There are always lots of options for picky eaters - and we for sure did not starve! Resort - this resort is quite large, there is a lot of walking (get those steps in!) But it is kept very clean, and well maintained. The gardeners always had a nice "Ola" every morning for us as we wander by. Animals - there are stray cats & dogs on most of the resorts in cuba that we have been too, if you are an animal lover throw some pet food in your luggage and leave for them - they are not treated very well. The "disco" for the kids was so much fun - and there is a party bus every Wednesday that takes the young adults to another resort to party - they loved it! The Cubano bar is AWESOME - they have live music most nights and is just great to sit back and listen after a hard day at the beach! The Cuban people are wonderful kind people and work very hard at their jobs.

Mar Del Sur: great value

enjoyed my 2 weeks ,the food is what you get in Cuba but you wont starve and staff are great, pool is nice and well kept as is the hotel and grounds location is in the downtown core so lots to see and do in walking distance .ask for an apartment a lot more comfortable

Club Karey: great resort

As the saying goes you get what you pay for. I paid 900 for 1 week. It was well worth the price. Basic for sure but the rooms were clean the staff friendly and helpful. The food was not great but you could always find something to eat. I would return.

Club Kawama: Fabulous, comfortable and relaxing vacation

Kawama is in a great location on a beautiful stretch of beach (almost a kilometre!) - the beach is kept very clean and there are security staff and life guards on duty. The rooms are comfortable and clean, despite their age. Beds are pretty comfy from my experience of other places in Cuba and the linens are always fresh and pressed. Our room (204) had a nice shared balcony and high ceilings, our AC worked great and the bathroom had excellent pressure and we never ran out of hot water. We had  [... read more]a little bar fridge that was perfect for keeping a container of OJ and water chilled. The grounds are really lovely with lots of palm trees, shady areas, a playground for kids, a gym and sauna, as well as a large central pool and bar area. The main theatre/stage is under a large thatch roof building that is truly beautiful and the nightly entertainment is great. Yeny (entertainment crew) is fabulous at getting everyone involved in spanish lessons, dancing, bingo, volleyball and is also fluent in at least 4 languages - if you need anything translated!! Leida in Public relations is lovely and super helpful for booking a-la-carte meals during your stay (in the lobby 10-12). All the bar and restaurant staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - if you need something, they are more than happy to help figure out a solution for you. pro-tip - bring gifts and they will love you far more than if you leave them a peso! We've found that things like stuffed animals, perfume, makeup, clothing, toiletries and spices are all really excellent ways to say thanks for great service. Already dreaming and planning our next trip to Club Kawama, we had SUCH a great 14 days! Thank you to everyone who made our stay amazing.
