The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Average Stay

This hotel is perfect for those who want to relax. The resort is generally quiet with subtle entertainment. The food was average but often served at room temperature or even cold even at the a la carte restaurants.The best food was the restaurant Koh Thai, hands down. The staff are all amazing very nice and accommodating.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great for kids

We just returned from a week stay at Occidental Xcaret. It’s a beautiful resort with many activities. Rooms: spacious and clean. We requested adjoining rooms when we booked six months ahead of time, it was completely ignored until we checked in. This is the first time we haven’t had the request filled by a resort. They said that we were close enough because we were in the same building. They ended up moving one room on day 2 and the second room on day 3. A huge headache of a but we reall [... read more]y need adjoining rooms for our family since we had young kids in different rooms. Food: okay, lots of variety, but always cold or lukewarm. Even when a fresh tray was put out from the back it was cold. We stuck to the live cooking areas to make sure we had something hot to eat. The fillet at the steak restaurant was amazing. Xcaret experience: did not receive a VIP check in. Make sure you print off the voucher that has the discounts listed. The resort didn’t know about them or the Xcaret office that applies your arm band. We ended up showing the vouchers to Xcaret Park itself to receive the proper credit. There’s a boat that is supposed to go every 10 minutes. We waited for about 40 minutes getting frustrated as we were told we must go by boat the first time. Finally a gardener felt bad for us and told us it wasn’t running because the weather was poor that day and we could walk there. It was maybe a three minute walk to the gate, no boat required. Also, you must use the main entrance your first visit not the beach entrance. Staff: very friendly, love Paula from entertainment crew. On a rainy day they set up lots of activities in the theatre so that no one got bored and always invited us to activities. Some of them get very pushy asking for reviews and want you to do it in front of them and even bribe with t shirts if you show them it. They waste about 10 min at the end of activities like aqua aerobics to keep asking for a review. Very annoying. Beach: our highlight. It is not for people that like a long walk, but perfect for young kids as it is calm and small enough to keep your eyes on them. The water was so clear that you could see every fish around you. Even if the main flags were red, the calm little cove was green and great to swim in. Wildlife: lots around. Love the flamingos and macaws. The monkeys seemed awesome the first couple of days as they visited our balcony in the third floor. By the end of the week we realized people have over fed them. One got very aggressive with my husband who was just sitting outside reading a book. Another was trying to open our patio door so we had to hold it closed. Accessibility: the golf carts are great to shuttle around, especially in the heat of the day. It was tricky going around with a stroller. There is a lot of uneven ground and bridges and stairs everywhere that would be hard for anyone with poor or limited mobility. Overall: we enjoyed our stay. Don’t miss the pool party on Saturday afternoons. It was fun!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Outstanding Resort and Staff

Everything was lush and green. Animation crew took care of everyone and made them feel As familia, spent a lot of tiempo with the staff and now my English is no bueno I will revisit Playa Del Carmen soon Adios Rolando

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: A tired worn down hotel grasping at 3.5 stars

The best thing going for this hotel is it’s staff. Air conditioning didn’t work. Fan didn’t work. Blow dryer didn’t work. When we left the roof was leaking on last day. Terrible pillows. Thread bare linens. 3.5 stars is pushing it at best.

Great vacation, great food, the staff could not do enough for you. Would recommend this resort to all my friends. Always something going on around the pool area for all ages. If you didn’t have a great time on this resort there is something wrong with you

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Beautiful resort!

Resort is beautifully maintained and room is very clean. Food is awesome. Service was very good. Shuttles come often to go to the beach and other resorts. Nightly entertainment could improve. Staff are very friendly.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Ok for the right price

The grounds and pools are beautiful. Resort is very large. Beach is dirty. Buffet food is meh but a la cartes are great. No free wifi except in certain areas during certain hours. Upcharges for some premium drinks (Malibu Rum, Baileys, good tequila). Rooms were decent with comfy beds. Service was poor to ok

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Awesome resort

Had an amazing holiday! Would go back again. Loved everything about this place. Very friendly, lovely staff. Very clean and well kept. The beach was great. Snorkeling was amazing.. The gym was ok. The restaurants were very good. We’ll definitely return.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort

Been to this resort 5 times now and we love it. Great food at the buffet and at La Carte restaurants. Very clean rooms and good staff. The beach had weeds at times but we could always find a spot to swim in the ocean or in one of the many pools. The resort gyms are well equipped for those like us who like to train daily when on vacation. Good choice for couples, families, groups. Nice kid's water park at the COBA as well as a dolphin pool with daily shows.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Beautiful resort

Very clean resort, good service, great food. The resort is huge as you have access to the adjoining 3 resorts. The free wifi was not very reliable. We had to renew every 24 hours and a lot of times it would not work. Also it was very difficult to book the desired restaurants à la carte as many guests told us they had booked prior to their arrival.

I found sian kaan to be a very relaxing and beautiful resort. I highly recommend you consider it as your next vacation destination.. My only complaint would be the shuttle buses start time in the morning, I would rather see a 6am start time instead of the 7am start.

Other then Mother Nature depositing mass amounts of seaweed on the beach the resort was very well taken care of Extremely friendly,outgoing staff The ac was not working very well and they attempted to repair yet still not working the best I would recommend Blue Bay to anyone Great stay at Blue Bay

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Amazing Resort!

My husband and I recently travelled here, and we loved the resort! I cannot say enough about the fantastic staff! They were all very helpful every time we needed something, and a pleasure to talk with, always smiling. The grounds were gorgeous and obviously well kept. Dining at the restaurants was always a pleasurable experience, and the food amazing! Even the buffet was always great, and lots of choices!! Maids did a great job cleaning every day, except no towel art?? That was a first for me in Mexico, and we were tipping well. I really liked how the resort was laid out...all along the beach and it wasn't an overly large resort, like a Sandos resort I stayed at previously. It was a nice walk from the room to the lobby and other restaurants, but definitely not too long or far away. The resort also brought in some very talented dancers/performers most nights, which we enjoyed. Swim-up bar was always a good time! The beach has nice sand, but the water was not quite as clear as it is closer to Playa del Carmen. We had a super amazing server named Jessica who brought us drinks out on the beach every day! She gave us excellent service, always with a smile, and we tipped her well for it. All in all, we both loved the resort and would probably stay there again!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Was a beautiful resort

The grounds were perfect and cared for to a t. We enjoyed our stay, food was fabulous. Cant say enough about the service and quality of everything. Staff was always ready to help with any request. Would go back again to blue bay.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: beautiful resort

The Barcelo Colonial was a beautiful resort, very clean and the service was impeccable. The beaches are beautiful, they had a sea weed issue but it was due to high winds, can't control mother nature. It is a bit of a drive from the airport but well worth the stay.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Excellent

First and foremost the food was incredible! Great beach. The rooms were dated but super clean and functional. Avoid rooms with balconies that have the thatched roof. The service in the resort was excellent and all the employees went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The front desk employees could be friendlier but that would be my only negative comment. Shout out to Miguel who got us a very comfortable pool front room which made our 2 week stay much more enjoyable.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Lots of good some bad

Have to agree with some reviews...... lots of walking at this resort for sure. The talk of it smelling? I didn’t notice anything amiss. Maybe it was The time of year? The food was amazing. The drinks were very good as well. The beach was crap for sure. Very disappointing to say the least. Not enough shade to go around. The chair game is terrible..... you need to. E up by 5 am to get a place in the shade. The shows really need revamping, needs to have some kind of nite life here.  [... read more] Will. Ever go back? Probably not. I like the beach and you cannot swim in the ocean. Which is a vacation must for me, The staff was very friendly and very helpful.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great Holiday!!

We just got back from the Grand Bahia Principe Coba and we had a great time!! It is a very large resort with lots of walking if thats what you like to do. Resort is pretty well maintained from what we saw over the week. Great resort for families that is for sure!! Food at the buffet was good and I want to say a huge thank you to Omar and Daniel our servers for breakfast and lunch all week!!!! Antonio our Air transat rep was very helpful as well. Now on the non positive side , the a la car [... read more]te restaurants were just ok, that is if you are lucky enough to get a reservation, from what I heard some people book almost a month in advance so that leaves very little left for the ones that want to book when they get there. We tried to book the don pablo at the tullum section and the earliest we could get was 9:30pm and only 1 day was available. Rooms are starting to get a bit dated but in descent shape other than the mattresses which were hard as a rock,unless you like that. In my opinion the royal package is not worth the extra money paid as you really dont get any extras!!! All in all it was a great week and will probably go back!!! Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great Adventure Worth a Look

Great Adventure worth a trip to Mexico. Great location. 40 mins from Cancun Airport. Stayed in the Privilege. Worth have private check-in. Worth having a la cart every night. Worth having a privilege area to eat without crowds. Buffet choices or menu choices. Bar in room stocked everyday. Privilege had its own Butler for help with everything anytime. Room service 24hrs. Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Amazing time!! loved every minute!!

Right from the start of looking at this resort on Tripadvisor I had contacted Nicolle Kirk ( who by the way was amazing to deal with - highly recommend her ) She took me thru the process and made it ever so easy. This was our very first all inclusive resort. It superseded all of our expectations!! We had went with friends and they are well travelled. Between the two buffets there was lots of choices and the a la carts - delicious. The fridge in the room was stocked daily, and the rooms were very clean. There is lots of choice where you would like to spend your day beach which includes options for shade and sun as well as hammocks. The pool goes on forever. Definitely lots of room and there is even a quiet section!! I had been expecting line up and no chairs wherever I went but this was not the case. I was blown away with the cleanliness of the whole resort. I would definitely recommend this resort. As for ourselves we will definitely be rebooking if the opportunity arises.
