Hotel Mojito: Great Resort!

Resort was nice. Very friendly & helpful staff. Clean resort & rooms. Beautiful beach! Great food at the Aqua Bar! Buffet food was hit & miss, but not bad. Good shows at night. Decent nightlife. Only complaint was all the Mosquitos!! Overall fun time & amazing weather!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Fantastic Resort!!

This hotel was incredible. The staff was very friendly and the resort itself was beautiful and very clean. There were activities for the kids so our son loved it too. The nightly entertainment was INCREDIBLE; it even involved the kids so our 2 year old looked forward to the shows as much as we did. We had an amazing time.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great time in DR!

I had never been to DR, my wife had been there apx 20 years ago, and at different done. Overall, this was a lovely week in the sun, and yes it was sunny, and hot as well. I had heard that going off the resort was not a good idea for safety reasons, but being a runner I did so every day and found nothing but friendly locals and I got to see the wonderful countryside. A [... read more]s it was partly open air, it was like working out in a steam room!, but it was enjoyable all the same, with good equipment. The beach and pool areas were excellent, with staff always on hand to help and/or set up fun games in which the winners were given a medal etc every night before the evening shows, which were also first class and well everyday! One day before we left, a large group came in for what appeared to be a wedding party, they were young and set up a boombox pool side and blasted hip hop music for "all to enjoy", I thought the staff could have made an effort to tone them down as it was very loud and took away from the nice island music playing on the hotel system, but that aside, it was a small issue and otherwise a great resort we would go back to any time with friends!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Great Resort for the Entertainment

We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach Resort on the Maya Riviera Novembe 12 to 20/14. We booked an all inclusive package which included 3 a-la-cartes. The free shuttle with our package was a short 15-20 minute drive south of Cancun, with Playa Del Carmen a 15 minute ride further south of the resort. The resort grounds were beautiful and the pook was huge with waterfalls, bridges across, winding and about 6 apartment block in length. There were about 40-50 grass canapies with 2 custioned loung [... read more]ers under each, many swinging canopied beds which you had to get to early and no shortage of seating. You cannot see the ocean from the pool area which is unfortunate, although the beach once again has at least 100 loungers and lots with canopies for shade. The entertainment team was at the pool every day, doing water exercises and then pool games and teaching pool patrons many different types of line dances. This fun and always smiling entertainment team also participated in some of the nightly entertainment and after the nightly show, about seven of the team would encourage showgoers to join them in more line dancing on the dance floor. The nightly entertainment was excellent with acrobatics, high wire acts, hilarious show with audience members participating, professional dancers. The steak a-la-carte was rubbery and grizzly. The Italian raviloli was doughy, the cannelloni good. The Japenese was well worth the show cooking, definitely recommend. The main smorg was huge with great selection of salad, fruits, veggies, meats, seafood, suchi and deserts with a smaller smorg near the pool and beach. We did try the Mediteranean or Brazilian as used up all of our a-la-cartes. Tip - Pay the waiter at a-la-carte for reservation and you will likely get table. Next trip we will book an Iberostar resort likely on beach in Cancun just for convenience of shopping and airport. Excellent service at all restaurants/smorgs/bars, staff always appreciative of our tips and always smiling no matter who you were. We eat out alot and have never had such excellent service at a resort/restaurant. Our tv stopped working the night before we departed and I called front desk. Within 10 minutes a worker came and checked tv, took it out of room and replaced it in another 10 minutes, even though most resorts likely would not have seeing as we were checking out the following day. We stayed at the Melia in Puerta Vallarta 2 years ago and the food choice, staff friendlines s and entertainment were not even comparable to the Iberostar Paraiso Beach. The room was okay, except for the extremely bad ceiling florescent lighting which shone a shadow over you head. As we had at the Medlia in Puerta Vallarta, there were very tiny bugs on the dresser (you have to look at one spot for a few seconds to notice them moving) so we spent some time killing those and wouldn't dare leave food on it. We kept chips, etc. in the fridge which was well stocked with beer and an assortment of pop and water bottles (large one on counter for your coffee machine). B. Pich Alberta, Canada

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Beautiful,Immaculate Resort

We thought the Iberostar was absolutely lovely with many beautiful birds,a long, well shaped pool, immaculate grounds and rooms and very good food as well. We did find the front desk person lacking in any warmth or attention to us upon our arrival..He did not look us directly but continued shuffling papers,trying to deal with 3 couples at once and made no pleasant, friendly attempts at welcome. It was a disappointing first impression. We were also impressed with the welcome and friendliness of the Iberostar Cozumel staff.as wespent a day there Back at the main Iberostar we enjoyed walking around this huge property, eating in various a la cartes and taking advantage of the many activities offered. The beach was a bit windy that week but we enjoyed long walks and getting a swim in the waves.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Outstanding Resort

I found the Resort, the Staff, and the overall frienliness was a major part in making this an outstanding week at the Iberostar, I certainly will be going back, but possibly for longer, maybe 10 days or 2 weeks, it was just fantastic

Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites: Iberostar Bavaro is great

Iberostar Bavaro is a wonderful resort. The rooms are large and very clean. The staff are amazing especially Francia in the dinning room. It is close to the airport so you can be by the pool or beach in a short time. The beach is endless and clean. The pool area doesn't feel crowded at all with a wonderful area for children. We have been to several resorts in the DR and this is by far the best!!!!! We flew with WestJet. The Sunwing check-in area in the DR looked like a big mess.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Great time for a family!

Great food, grounds, people. Close to airport. Loved it. We travelled with a 10 month old. Staff were great. Hotel is very clean. Beach is a tad rocky but they work at cleaning it up daily. We will return.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful resort!

This resort is beautiful. 6 pools and very clean. The rooms are a good size as well. Animation staff and bar staff are wonderful and very friendly. The buffet wasn't that great but I loved all of the a la carte restaurants. I would recommend this resort for sure.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: VERY GOOD RESORT

IT IS A GOOD RESPORT, FOOD IS GREAT, SERVICE IS GREAT (slow at a la cartes) VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE, BEACH IS AWFUL, LOTS OF ROCKS, DECOR IS UP TO DATE, BUT NOT MUCH TO DO AT NIGHT, WE ARE SMOKERS, SO THE SITTING AREA OUSTISDE IS SOMEWHAT LIMITED FOR 13 PEOPLE. NOT MUCH ENTERTAINMENT AT NIGHT ( no steel band, live band, dancing etc..) BUT IF THE PRICE REMAINS AROUND $900.00 WE WOULD ALL GO BACK. NEEDS ACTION AT NIGHT.

Hotel Mojito: the staff make this resort amazing.

We have been to this resort 3 times now. We love going to the Mojito. It is like visiting with friends every time we go back. I don't go to Cuba for the food. I am not fussy so always find something to eat. The rooms are clean just outdated. Every time we go back there are improvements. We plan to go again in sept 2015 with family and friends. There are 20 of us going.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Good family resort for younger children!

I had the pleasure to visit this resort from Nov 3 - Nov 10, 2014 with my 2 young children, Sofia(7) and Elias(4.) We got to the resort, they did not have live banking, we had to take a cab to the closest town, 10 minute cab rab to the bank. I needed $300 CUC for tip money. They will only trade at the hotel cash for cash. Once I got back, my vacation started. The food was good, buffet had all you need. The a la carte were nothing special. The overall service is good, they are always trying to pl [... read more]ease you. The kids water park was great, we spent at least 1 hour each day playing in the water park. Good for ages 3 to 10. The beaches are beautiful, the nicest one is a little far to walk though. The weather is always nice. The kid shows and night adult shows are good, kept the kids entertained. My daughter loved the fact that you could see a lot of fish in the ocean. The ocean is clear, white sand everywhere, no rocks. For the price we paid, $2550 for all 3, it was just perfect. I do recommend this vacation if you are with children and you are good with buffet food. A.L.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Definitely will return next year

My room get upgraded to Maya Junior Sute withou extra cost. Room is clean, fresh juice and fruits in the morning is heaven to me before hitting the gym. All staff are very polite & working very hard to provding us 5 stars services. Already planning to return next year.

Hotel Mojito: Fantastic Staff! Wonderful vacation!

I visited the Iberostar Mojito for the second time Nov 11 to 18 2014 - once again I was thrilled with my stay! I was surprised by the number of staff who not only remembered me from my last visit - but greeted me warmly by name! Since I was travelling alone for the first time, I found this very re-assuring. I had made some specific requests when booking my vacation – and all were easily accommodated without having to ask at check-in. My room was clean, bright and sunny with a wonderful terrace [... read more] that got the morning sun. Staff are very efficient and willing to help you in any way they can. I find the atmosphere here a little more laid back and relaxed than some places I have visited in Cuba, and I enjoy this. Food was basic but very good with lots of choice – I made use of the buffet and poolside café most often as they are convenient and offer great variety. The nightly stage shows are top caliber – I especially enjoyed the “Disco” and “Chicago” shows. All in all a wonderful vacation – restful and relaxing – cared for by wonderful staff and met some fellow Canadians and made new friends!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Beautiful resort

Great resort for families! It was our first family trip with our two year old son and it was great for kids! The rooms and grounds are very nice and clean. The service is A1! The staff is very nice! I recommend this resort in a heart beat! Will go back for sure!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good Value for your money Beach Resort

I have stayed at an Iberostar in Cosumel and loved it. However this Iberostar on Veredero Beach was not a 5 star as stated. Pool area was very nice with waterfall you could go under. Lots of fun activities to do around pool. When we went to book a la carte restaurants we were not informed that if you stay for 5 nights you only got 2 a la carte restaurants. Chop house was good, but service in International restaurant was poor. We did get a room away from the disco overlooking quiet pool. Not sure [... read more] were music was coming from one night boom boom sounds until 1.30 am. The room smelled of meldew and I had to remove the bedspread as it really smelled bad. White towels were stained. No face cloths or bar of soap. No soap at all around sink. Buffet food was not bad. Service there good overall. Got to know one waiter who made us feel special. Spa was not fancy but service was good. Had a massage and a wrap. Had a small store. Able to exchange money at our resort. We booked an excursion with our rep.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Preetty Nice Hotel

10th trip to Cuba and have stayed in Holguin, Santa Clara, Cayo Coco and Varadero. I really like Cuba for the lovely landscape, interesting architecture, beaches and, most of all, the residents and staff. I understand that Cuba really strives to maintain their hotels and provide an enjoyable stay for all tourists. Having said that there were great things about this hotel and not so great things. Now, the not so great things did not bother me as I know what to expect but I feel I should point the [... read more]m out to those who are deciding where to go on their vacation. THE EXCELLENT This hotel has a good beach and very beautiful, well-groomed grounds! There are 2 quiet pool areas with a snack / bar area as well as a central pool with a swim-up bar and games. The resort was fairly easy to navigate and you did not have to do stairs if you have mobility issues, In fact, we observed many folks in wheelchairs using ramps and elevators. The entertainment was good. There was a piano player every night in the main lobby and the music could easily be heard on the main terrace. There was a talented saxophone player most evenings in one of the bar/terrace areas on the grounds. There was a waiter in the quiet pool areas. The evening shows were well-rehearsed and fun. There is an ice-cream stand open all day and the resort store had a variety of sundries and personal needs items (female hygiene) as well as gifts and clothing). There was also a small cigar and rum store attached to a cigar bar. As a smoker I loved that many areas allowed smoking but there was a non-smoking bar and, naturally, there was no smoking in the a la carte restaurants or inside the buffet area. In Cuba we find the staff friendly and cheerful even though they often work extremely long hours. I recommend tipping. As in any other bar or restaurant in Canada or abroad, a tip can go a long way in showing your appreciation for excellent service. Our practice is to tip a convertible peso about every other round of drinks for the two of us. We also tip the maid about 5 pesos each time but leave the do not disturb sign on the door every other day as we do not need the bed changed or made every day and we hang our towels so they can be used more than 1 day. We feel it helps conserve energy and do this at home as well. There were nice mattresses or cushions available for the loungers at this hotel and it made such a difference in our comfort when sleeping or reading by the pool. The hotel asks that you do not take the cushions to the beach area but for some, such as the elderly, or overweight, these cushions are imperative in avoiding aches and pains later. I did see some taking them down to the beach. If you do take a cushion to the beach, please take it back to the pool area when you leave the beach. At the towel exchange hut there is also a small book exchange. I found that the breakfast buffet was good and had an omelette station, smoothie station, a selection of meats (sausage, bacon, black pudding). There was also lots of fruit, pastries and croissants. We took the bus into Varadero and had a 3-hour tour for 9 pesos where we visited a house reputed to be owned by Al Capone and the Dupont House (yes the paint family) as well as a stop at the craft market and the rum store. I would recommend this as an inexpensive way to do a little exploring and see a bit of the city. For those who are a little more adventurous you can take the bus for 5 pesos and get on and off all day long. Cuba is quite safe but you may experience scammers and beggars just like Jamaica, Mexico or any other popular tourist destination. I suggest wearing a bracelet or watch over your wrist-band so they cannot suggest they know you from the hotel which I have been fooled by before. THE NOT SO GREAT The water pressure could have been better. The dinner buffet was typical for Cuba. I had expected a bit more from an Iberostar 5* hotel but as always in Cuba, we found things to eat and did not go hungry. Some tricks I have learned are that there are not always tomatoes on the buffet but you can get a few spoonfuls of chopped tomato from the pizza or omelette stations and use them in a salad or on a toasted-tomato sandwich. I did not see peanut-butter at this resort which was a little unusual so if you have kids or a love of the stuff, like I do, take a small jar. If you like to go to sleep early, I would suggest a quick email requesting not to be placed on the backside of blocks 15, 16 & 17 as they face the entertainment pavilion and the disco. We did not mind as we sat on the balcony and listened to the show and then amused ourselves watching inebriated young adults leaving the disco and acting silly. What can I say, we are evil, middle-aged and a bit jealous of their youth ha ha. OVERALL OPINION This was a very nice hotel and I would recommend it to folks.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Bring bug spray

We went for the beach because of the beautiful pictures we had seen and were disappointed to find a smaller beach area with tons of seaweed which resulted in a seaweed smell I'm sure the beach goers must have become accustom to, not us. The pool area and staff were great. Actually we loved all staff from servers to our room maid. The resort was under renovation so we got an older room with a hard as rock bed, we arnt fussy and often commented it may be worth it to return in five years or so when [... read more] renoes are complete.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing time.

I have nothing bad to say about this resort, amazing staff, beautiful resort, food was great. I will be returning next year. One of the best holidays I have had. I had mixed thoughts about Cuba from what people have said about the food. But we had no problems.

I like the food, the pool et the beach. But next time, I will chose iberostars rose hall suite, because they are waterpark for children. Everything is great, but the airport and the custom are terrible.
