Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Spectacular beach!!

We were very impressed with the shallow clean beach and the lack of people on it! You could walk for miles and never got harassed by vendors. The resort itself is recovering from being closed do to covid and at times missing food items. We loved the morning omelettes and cappuccino at the lobby bar. Friendly staff and drinks were great! Melia Peninsula Varadero: Worst experience of my life

The single worst experience of my life. Where to begin????? Staff were lukewarm at best, with the exception of the lovely lady making omelettes for us for breakfast each morning. Roma we’re not cleaned during our stay, toilet paper was worth its weight in gold and scarce, air conditioning unit leakiest all night into our room and on the last day we learned that our room door did not need a key to enter.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Good place to stay

The resort was clean and the people were warm and friendly. I had read that you needed to bring your own salt and pepper, but you didn't need to. The food was surprisingly good and nothing like what I had read from other comments. The resort does need upgrading; it is dated. But, considering they were shut-down for 2 years, it was kept clean and they did their best. Our housekeeper was the best - Alina. She went above and beyond for us. Melia Cayo Coco: We loved the resort

We were happy with all aspects of our stay- clean room, friendly staff. some line ups in Cuba to get in and out but overall they did a good job with so many people going through. Some repairs due to hurricane but no worries for us. Grounds were clean- beautiful greenery.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Sorry, not going again!

I knew about the food; was hoping hygiene would be good. It was terrible; the buffet was full of flies. Visited nearby resorts, they were both better. Their beaches and restaurants were cleaner, unlike HGMI

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Horrible Experience

Resort wasnt clean, employees were mostly kind but some were very rude. Food selection was the worst we ever experienced in Cuba. Rooms werent cleaned properly, no clean towels everyday. Alcohol limited in bars and barely any night entertainment. We will not come back to this resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Awful

The resort has the best beach but everything else was awful. The food was beyond disgusting. Cockroaches crawling all over the buffet and bread baskets. They ran out of glasses and plates every day. They didn’t have any bottled water - not even a store to buy some. It was like we were in a concentration camp with unlimited access to the beach. Melia Peninsula Varadero: Do not go here!

Constantly running out of food- food quality poor (and I have been to Cuba before, but nothing like this). We were told to convert our money to Cuban Pesos to find out they do not accept them anywhere (or do so with reservation). We did not get the room we asked for, the beds were uncomfortable, furniture was broken, smelled of mold. We had our towels replaced once. We never got even a bath mat. Melia Las Dunas: Great resort in Santa Maria

The Good: Food was quite good for Cuba, they had a variety of food and the A La Cartes were great as well and were fairly easy to book. The 24h grill had burgers, hot dogs and fries and was very good/convenient. The Beach was amazing and there were many Palapas for shade. The rooms were large and kept very clean. The grounds and the staff as usual were amazing. Beach towels were available and if you went at the right time, it was easy to replace dirty ones for new ones. Grand Memories Varadero: The worth resort ever!

We came home on march 25 2023 from Grand Memories Varadero. 1. There are no toilet seats, not in the room and not in public washrooms. 2. There is no hot water. 3. For 7 days they cleaned the room about 4 times and bathroom is about 2 times. 4. In the public women washroom there are no toilet paper, toilet seats either and doors have broken locks, so you can not close the door. 5. Here are my honest thoughts about the Resort. Well built , beautiful scenery & decor. The staff are all extremely friendly and very helpful. Ways the staff can and need to improve on is when cleaning the bathrooms restocking the bathroom tissue! Nowhere on the hotel grounds can you find toilet paper except for in your personal booked rooms. This was an issue on a daily basis during our week stay. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Ok

Need maintenance, everything falling apart entertainers are great. Food is terrible beach is the best of all. Going outside is not much better than staying inside. Show at the hotel are great. You can have fun at the beach. There is no much to shopp around , everything seen to be empty

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Just great vacation, Iberostar Bella Vista place to go.

I wish I could give more then 5 stars, this hotel should get 100+. Location, service, people that work there are just amazing, everything was just perfect. We are planning to go back in Nov or Dec with other family members and friends. Thank you Iberostar Bella Vista. :):)

Starfish Cayo Largo: All-inclusive affordable resort with great nature.

We just came from the Starfish Hotel with Sunwing airline from Ottawa. We stayed for one week where everything was good: service, hotel except no cheese and no papaya and no white wine :( Walk from Starfish to Sirena beach was amazing!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Disappointing

The hotel grounds were well maintained.The rooms were adequate. We experienced a few glitches such as the curtains not closing and the entry lock batteries being faulty. We were graciously upgraded to the VIP Alegance section when we encountered additional glitches. The food selection was not 4.5 star rating. Several cockroaches were seen walking the buffet. Wifi was free and adequate most of the time. Bathrooms are generally clean and stocked with toilet paper although my personal roll came in handy several times. Unfortunately will not return to this hotel.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Better than expected

This was our 4th visit in 5 years and we were worried about all the negative reviews generally from all locations in Cuba so we were pleasantly surprised to find that Ensenachos hasn't changed a bit, in fact we thought that the buffet was quite good. Most of the week we enjoyed delicious (and expensive back home) all you can eat smoked salmon. The fresh fruit, veggies, bread and butter were excellent and in fact better than the fruit we can get shipped into Toronto. The lobby entertainment quality ranged from terrible (karaoke) to amazing (live Cuban trio). Everything worked: WiFi, Toilets, shower, hot water, TV, beach towels, no blackouts, etc. The (TWO) beaches are still amazing as is the swimming. Lots of lounge chairs as we suspect the resort is still nowhere near fully booked. Same with the (TWO) pools - very clean and not too crowded. One evening in the lobby, the no-see-ums bit us up pretty good so after that we wore bug spray and sat away from the outside and that seemed to solve it. One calm late afternoon at the beach we got bit up as well so bug spray is probably a good idea. Overall, the place could use a bit of paint, some lighting and door repairs, a few plumbing repairs, etc. but it's CUBA and so this is just the way it's been there for many years. Probably why it's half the price of other destinations. We just love the country, the beaches and the people and feel very safe and welcome there. I'm sure that we'll go back.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful upscale resort

Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. Buffet was delicious with top notch food. Fish, cheeses,turkey, chicken, made to order pasta and breakfasts. Special coffee bar and 24hr service. Beach was semi-private and clean with no-one bothering. Late night dancing and shows

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Perfect for our needs

Excellent treatment by staff, accessibility good for a woman of age. Elevator, stair options. Ground well kept. Food more than adequate. Pool very clean. Lots of lounges for number of people there. Specific smoking/ non smoking areas. Rooms very clean and well stocked. Only complaint, no coffee makers in rooms. I would have brought my own had I know.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort

Very clean throughout the hotel. Restaurants, pools, washrooms, bars all clean. Alla Carte restaurants good. Buffet not so good. Service is excellent, front desk personal friendly and when help was required with different issues in our room they were rectified immediately!

Grand Memories Varadero: Places to avoid

If you go to this resort with zero expectations, then you won’t be disappointed. We have been to several resorts in Cuba and by far this was the worst experience we have ever had there. And it will be our last time going to Cuba.
