Melia Jardines del Rey: beautiful resort

well taken care of resort our room was great very clean the staff was superb, the lobby bar was always way to busy and the bartenders there didnt seem to care who was in line if someone flashed some $$ which was quite annoying. the restaurant staff was great gardeners were super friendly and event staff was awesome. beach was beautiful not rocky at all like we had read about. we snokled off the beach as well as went out on the small boats with guides to snorkel they were amazing and very informa [... read more]tive. my only constructive critism would be that i wish the cooks would stick to what they know and not try to do so much americanized food. we did the jeep on excursion and it as well as again the guides was sooo worth every penny.

Melia Costa Rey: Very nice place to stay

Food was great Rooms were modern Staff were friendly Beach was amazing Gardens will be beautiful in a few years as they are new it take time too grow Bartenders are amazing as well the Gardner's are talented they made us hats from palms all in all had a great time there. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone

Melia Jardines del Rey: Don't waste your time or money!

This was our fourth and LAST time to Cuba! We have never experienced anything like this. Traveled the week of Jan.8. Checkin is unorganized, no al a cartes available even though we just checked in. Rooms had small beds with no toilet seats or hot water and the water barely trinkled out. Food- wait lines were horrible(1-1 1/2 long), no plates, empty food trays, food under cooked(raw dough) and no tables available to sit The beach is amazing but it was to cold and windy while we were there [... read more] to enjoy it Very disappointing for a two year old resort!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

Hotel grounds were nice and constantly maintained. Beaches and water were stunning. Rooms were clean and always had hot water. Staff were friendly and service was good every where. Food was bad even at the ala carte restaurants. The Italian restaurant and the largest bar were both closed for renovations.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Small and cozy

The resort was small - which meant not a lot of guests which was great for relaxing and for having family vibe (resort next door looked like everyone was shoulder to shoulder on the beach). The food was decent for Cuban food. There is not a lot going on during the day - if we didn't have kids with us excursions would have been the way to go. The kids club was never opened and the playground was really run down unfortunately. They did provide a play pen for our kids to sleep in inside the room -  [... read more]so that was a bonus. The resort was not big on advertising meal themes, el la carte or evening show times which made it more difficult in planning meals and evenings etc. Beach was clean and lovely!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great family resort, lots of walking

The Melia Jardines del Ray in Cayo Coco was a beautiful resort. The week we were there, I was informed that there were 2000 guests, adults and children. Because of the number of guests being served there were some lineups at the Buffett , also long line ups to book the alacartes and the resorts keep a strict restriction on the number of times you can go to ala cartes....Brian and I went to the seafood, Aquas, the food was amazing, lobster was included, we even went back for seconds...even thou [... read more]gh it is an alacartes most of the service was like buffet, but very good....we went to the Cuban restaurant the next night, food excellent Brian had the soup for an entree and I had the fish....a lightly breaded fish, delicious. Our meals were very good and service excellent. We also went to the French Bistro, they had lobster bisquet with Hennessy s cognac, but the Potatoes cream was a delicious soup of creamed potato. We both had the Beef tenderloin with grilled vegetables, it was delicious. Desserts at the alacartes were delicious but there were times there was a long wait because of the volumne of guests. The beach at this resort is beautiful and very wide....lots of room for guests, there is a beach bar and a terrific buffet restaurant that turns into the seafood restaurant in the evening. After the first day Brian and I discovered a 24 hour snack bar, that became our go to Place for breakfast. Service a little slow, but everyone is trying very hard to please. Just down from the snack bar is a nice little Ice Ceam bar.....always busy, but the wait is not long. They had coconut ice cream, very good. The wifi at the resort is not the best, slow and intermittent there is no wifi in the rooms. Even though our rooms were between the lobby and the pool snack bar....we still had no connection....the pool snack bar opens I think 12:30 and the burgers, pizza and fried chicken is very good. Depending on the time you get there they are not set up to serve huge crowds. The evening we arrived we were assigned a room in building 8, I knew from looking at a map of the resort that this would not be good for my husband, who has health problems, the staff did some re-arranging and we ended up in building 26, room 26205, if mobilty is an issue then buildings 26 and 25 are excellent choices. Except for the beach restaurant , and access to the beach everything else is with in reasonable walking distance.....the weather was not the Cuba weather we are used too, but it was still a nice relaxing holiday., I feel this resort is excellent for families with children, however not so great if your mobility challenged. If you have a problem with bites, sorry I should have asked what bit me, I'm thinking No-see-ums bites are worse than mosquitoes, immediately and get infected easily, do not hesitate to see Dr. Louis very nice guy, really cares.....

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: The Beach is worth it.

I really loved spending my birthday at Memories, at the a la carte they prepared a special table & after presented me with a birthday cake. The staff at the restaurants, buffet & cleaning staff were all very professional & friendly & did a wonderful job. We loved the beach, you could go for short or long walks both directions, low tide, so many shells, sand dollars & you can see fish. We had an oceanview room, worth it, the room was clean & well-kept each day, disappointed not many drinks in fr [... read more]eeze each day, only 2 soft drinks. We had problems with trying to change the beach towels as they were closed most of time & posted a sign stating that they are having problems with the laundry services. They ran out of soft drink "light cola" for 3 days, with diabetes, not much to drink. The food was so,so,most of the hot food on the buffet was cold, to get grilled food, you had to wait in long lines, for my husband the desserts were important, if he wasn't early, they were gone. Most of the staff were very friendly. There was very little entertainment at pool or the beach. For the week we were there only 3 games for everyone lasting only 20 minute each at most, they did have volleyball a couple of times & dance lessons most days. After all is said, the beach was the highlight.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great resort ... Terrific staff.

We just returned from 1 week in Sol Cayo Coco and had a fantastic time. The staff at the resort was really polite, nice and very helpful. Always friendly and actually had bar service delivered by the pool and to our tables in most bar areas. The food was very good and the rooms clean and comfortable. The only drawback was the washrooms ran out of toilet paper quickly and it was not always replenished ...sometimes till the next day. The beaches were beautiful. Hotel Vigia: A little gem!

Our week at Cayo Guillermo very enjoyable. The friendly staff in all areas of the resort were always willing to help. We always had a good selection of food. The beach restaurant was especially good! I loved setting at the pool and was able to enjoy a view of the ocean from poolside as well. The beach is awesome! This small friendly resort is calling me back again.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing beach!

This is a large resort with many options. There are 2 large pools, various places to eat. Quite a variety for Cuba, there's always something to choose from. The rooms are nice with a walk in shower. If you like a lively place, there's always something to do either dancing on the beach, pool activity, or nighttime entertainment and music. The a la carte restaurants are amazing. Sol Cayo Coco: Terrific Holiday!

I just returned from Sol Cayo Coco on Thursday January 19, 2017. I was at the resort for a one-week stay. This was my third time to this resort and I will certainly go back! Food: People often complain about the food in Cuba - too bland, not enough American, always the same - I do not agree. The food at Sol Cayo Coco is excellent. There is always a good selection and the buffet is refreshed constantly. I only ate at the buffet restaurant and did not eat at either of the a la carte restaurants [... read more], so I cannot comment on the food there - however, people I met on the trip thought the a la carte restaurants were very good. I sat on the patio at the buffet for nearly every meal as I prefer to be outside rather than inside with the air conditioning. Room: I stayed in a third floor room overlooking the pool with a beautiful view of the ocean. I payed for a standard room and did not upgrade, so I was very pleased with the view. The room, although the decor is a bit tired, was clean and tidy. My towels were refreshed daily and I never once had to request amenities like toilet paper, soap, etc... Resort: I like Sol Cayo Coco for several reasons: 1) it is only a 30 minute drive to the airport, 2) the resort is small and not overwhelming to get around, 3) you can change money at the front desk, and 4) the staff are exceptional. Two staff members who deserve to be mentioned: Yanitza (wait staff on the patio of the buffet restaurant) is friendly, outgoing and extremely generous - she loves to sing and you will hear her going about her duties singing and dancing - entertaining and altogether lovely. Andy (waiter in the lobby bar lounge) is very kind and quick to grab you a drink when you need one. He made a point to introduce me to other staff members, making my trip more comfortable and enjoyable - I truly felt at home! Entertainment: The entertainment staff are very hard working. I attended several shows, some were mediocre, some were amazing. The stand-out for me was an evening they called "White Night". In addition to the expected dancing there were: amazing vocalists, a talented aerial performer on silks, and a fire artist. The best night I spent in Cuba!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Overall good- have some tips for a better stay

First and foremost, the beautiful, white sand beach this resort is located on will compensate for whatever problems you might encounter during your trip. Lucky enough for my friend and I, we had great weather all week long and since we only came to relax and get some sun, this resort did just the trick. If you are however looking to party with friends, the nightlife is rather dull ( a couple great shows here and there, but there were only a minimum of things to do at night). I recommend this re [... read more]sort if you are looking to relax on the beach. The unlimited drinks were very good and the buffet was also good (perfect mix: the fish and the yellow rice!!!). Expect long waits for food. They had several activities during the day (yoga, latin dance class...) and on less windy days they had kayaking and pedal boating (both free, but make sure to reserve early in the day to not miss out). They also had catamaran. The staff was very friendly. The resort itself is nice: nice rooms, nice location on the beach, great pool. In our case, our trip had somehow gotten cancelled and so they did not have a room ready for us at our arrival. They first set us up in a non cleaned room which was a little bothering. However, we later got fixed up into a clean room. We were thankful they had space for us considering the mix up... but make sure your room is ok before settling in, we only noticed before going to bed that there was sand in the bed! Another problem I'd like to point out is the water! We had trouble getting it sent to our room at several occasions (you need to request extra water bottles for your room at the customer service in the lobby: if it does not come, ask again.) . Restaurant wise, ( on a standard plan, you have access to 3 à la carte restaurants and you need to reserve at the beginning of your stay... make sure of this because you might not get the time or the restaurant of your preference if you do not do it first thing in the morning), the BEST food was Oriental, the french was very good and we also enjoyed the seafood BUFFET (which counts as an à la carte restaurant.). No complaints about the restaurant food, all very satisfying. We did not have towels for our first day because they did not have any left by the time we had arrived at the towel drop off: make sure you do this first thing, like the restaurant reservations. All in all, we had a nice, sunny, relaxing stay. The beach was very nice and made the whole trip worth it-- i recommend walking to the right until you reach a more private beach (around a 20 min walk). Food was good, service was sometimes slow but to be expected considering the amount of guests, à la carte restaurants were very good (esp the ones we went to), good variety of unlimited drinks to choose from. Main problems: arrival--room issues, getting water bottles sent to room. Nightlife is so so, but not what we were looking for so we didn't mind. Seems like a good place for familys, couples, groups of friends... Although there were some ups and downs, we enjoyed our stay very much, mostly because of the beach and the weather. Overall good.

Hotel Mojito: stay away

very poor in relation to my other trips. beach is far far away over a long walkway which is in poor condition. beach is small and very dirty and unkept . due to the long distance a shuttle would have been nice. no bicycles or motor bikes to rent . games room with one pool table and a ping pong table is only open 6 30 pm to 1100 pm [how stupid ] . pool bar only serves burgers and fries from 12 noon and not 24 hrs as stated. music is loud and not worth listening to. foo [... read more]d in the dining room was poor in relation to other resorts i have been to in Cuba and i have been there 8 times.. room was outdated and the plumbing didnt work most of the time according to staff this resort is to be sold within a year . staff for the most part were friendly and helpful I would not recommend this resort.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Vacation!

The Melia Jardines Del Rey was a beautiful vacation resort that exceeded our expectation. This being our first all-inclusive resort vacation our hopes were pretty high and we were not disappointed. We especially enjoyed the pools, beach and the great staff. The room was great too, but we didn't spend much time there. The variety of entertainment was acceptional. The food was good, but not great; but we always enjoyed our meals.

Melia Costa Rey: Lovely but not 5 stars

An honest review of hotel is as follows; Pools: Large, clean, beautifully lit at night, but COLD. So cold, no one was in them! However I travelled in January which caused the weather to be hot with a very cool breeze. Had the weather just been hot, I'm sure the cold pool would have been refreshing. Beach: GORGEOUS! Really clear water, clean sand, and the beach stretched for miles, which is perfect for a long beach stroll. This second beach is well worth the walk, if you like being in the ocean. It was simply beautiful, with mass amounts clean, warm shallow waters, perfect for kids, or just lounging in the water (great way to tan and keep cool). Hotel: The hotel is located just 10 minutes from the airport, which is a big plus! We arrived quickly and were greeted by a lovely mariachi band. The hotel was beautiful but is still in construction phase for parts of it. The main lobby is stunning and has the most breath-taking view of the ocean. The grounds are clean, however where our room was located (building 43) they were still in the construction phase in the building beside us (like it was still in the concrete phase), and the grounds around us were still being cultivated. Room: Our 'lagoon view room' was actually quite a beautiful view, and allowed for beautiful sunsets to be seen. The room itself is modern and fairly clean, although we had an issue with ants! They were everywhere! So much so I did not unpack my suitcase, and needed to keep it closed the entire time it was not in use, in fear of having an ant infested suitcase! I also kept my suitcase off the floor, but ants were still everywhere. These are tiny ants but none the less i had the bang my shoes on the ground before putting them on. My partner was not as bothered by the ants as I was, because they were so tiny (FYI we were on the 3rd floor and the ants may have been an issue from the past guests who may have left the balcony door open...I assume this only because by the end of the week the number of ants had dramatically decreased). Bathroom: Spacious and modern, with an amazing rain fall shower. Beds: Comfortable, but we got 2 double beds (as did many other guests we talked to) as opposed to the queen/king we requested. Not a big deal. Service: Service was great almost all around. Maid Service: Our made wasn't the greatest (didn't sweep the floors a few times, and we had to ask for water and new bath towels more than once) ..although at one point we were told we'd get these things 'later' and once we did, instead of bath towels we were given two bath mats to be used as towels...so I'd say that issue was at the fault of the hotel and not the maid's. Servers: All the servers, whether the lobby, buffet, bars etc. were super friendly and pleasant in every way! Specifically Pedro who serves at the lobby bar, he was exceptional! Entertainment: There were always games, and dance lessons by the pool in the day. The nightly entrainment was full of talented performers, I especially enjoyed the authentic Cuban show that occurred the last night we were there. The music at the hotel is all live (other than by the pool in the day) and it is exceptional! Whether in the a la carte restaurants, in the lobby, or by the pool at night, there were live bands literally everywhere, every evening! Food: Wasn't amazing but for Cuba I'd say it was probably one of the better resorts for food. Breakfast was really good. They had many omelette and egg stations, as well as a crepe and french toast station. All of which were tasty! There is also cereal, different fresh juices, and other breakfast items available (bring your own peanut butter and ketchup if you want those items). Lunch and dinner at the buffet were pretty much the same and not the best, but doable. They have a pasta station, and a fresh fish, chicken, and beef station. However Cuba's meat is a little chewy..and their 'western' take on food a bit bland. There were 3 a la carte restaurants; Creole, French and Japanese. The Japanese teppanyaki was pretty tasty and fun the watch. The french restaurant was my favourite out of the three, not only is it beautiful inside, but the food is quite good and the ambience is lovely! The creole on the other hand... The restaurant itself is nice, but the food (I think the soup) made me quite sick by the late evening/early morning. Overall: I'd give this resort a soft 4 stars, but it most definitely has the potential of becoming a 5 star once the construction and ground work is completed, and if they improve their food. I would suggest to anyone traveling to Cuba, to choose the Pullman, and I would suggest the upgraded adults only section if possible. The adults only section had it's own pool with its own restaurant for every meal. The service there, I'm sure is impeccable.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Really nice resort for the money

My husband and I just got back from the Memories caribe. It was an awesome time. They are in the process of upgrading all the rooms and public bathrooms. We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms which was a plus. For Cuba the food was really good. The beach was amazing with all white sand. The overall experience was very good and being in an adult only resort was very pleasent.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Family trip

We had a great family trip!! Weather was great, beach was awesome, and drinks were cold!! Great value for price! Nice and relaxing! its a 4 star in Cuba but if you went anywhere else it's more like a 3 star Not complaining... it was good and food was too... it's working on Getting upgraded.... my 2nd time going to that resort...3rd time in Cuba and I would go back!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Gorgeous resort, fantastic staff but disappointing beach

About 45 minutes from the airport including stops at other resorts. Rooms, the large pool, and grounds were beautiful and modern. We had a fantastic ocean view (bungalow 9). Drinks were very good. All restaurants and food was really good albeit somewhat limited at the buffets (but that could have been because of the time of year we went - mid January). Asian restaurant was very entertaining. Shows were ok. All staff were terrific, adorable and very hard working including but not limited to b [... read more]artenders, gardeners, front desk, maids, wait staff, and bus boys. The one very big downfall is the beach. If you are a beach lover its not the place for you (very small and corally). It had a waterfront boardwalk with loungers and beds and stairs into the water, although there was one small area you could enter via the beach, where the water sports hut was. Good beach bar on the boardwalk but no beach grill while we were there. Not sure if the hut we saw on the beach was it and only open during peak season. The resort is within a 20 minute walk on the road to Pilar beach which is gorgeous and has a really good grill.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Better than expected. Can't wait to go back!

The beach is absolutely breathtaking—also very clean. We would go back to Cayo Coco for that reason alone. The service at Melia Jardines del Rey was terrific and everyone was very friendly.The food was as expected. People told us, "You don't go to Cuba for the food." True enough. But silver lining, we didn't gorge or gain weight. A vacation win in my opinion. LOL! My son had some digestive issues during our stay so we were grateful for the doctor on site who fixed him right up. The hotel was gorgeous , rooms clean ,new and spacious, staff friendly and efficient, view from lobby magnificent The best hotel we've been to in Cuba. Food was also good and a great variety everyday. The al la carte restaurants were very good and very classy
