Melia Jardines del Rey: Could be better

Resort was clean, rooms were average, beach is amazing, food was good and everyone in family was able to find something to eat at all times. Best place for lunch was the snack bar by the leisure pool but was always busy and only open a couple hours a day. Went to the 24 hour snack bar one day for lunch and were given menus but no one ever came back to take out order, even when we asked to have our order taken. Buffet was good, pools were clean, hard to find chairs as all the entitled people like [... read more] to put towels on them then leave for the day. We made 4 requests prior to departure and received none of them despite there being very few people there when we arrived. One was to have rooms with double beds, got two king size to sleep the six of us. Another was to have a pool view, were given rooms at back of resort. Request three was that our rooms be beside one another, rooms were down the hall from each other and on opposing sides. Also requested a cot in one room and didn't receive one until late the first night after waiting in customer service for a while. The custome service room was a revolving door of people coming in about various issues but the staff were always friendly and as helpful as they could be. When we went to book for the a la cartes someone had used our room number to book already but was only for two people despite us being a group of six. Toilet paper ran out on day five and was not replaced by housekeeping. When we asked for more we were given a partial roll that only lasted a few hours and again housekeeping didn't replace until asked. All in all we had a wonderful time but I would not return to this resort.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Horrible resort

From the time we arrived till we left there were many many issues. Filthy buffet area. Cockroach in the pasta, filthy wipe rags used around food prep areas. Pool not cleaned once, green slime half way up the wall of the pool, garbage everywhere in pool. Black mould in shower, toilet leaked and flooded bathroom for 2 1/2 days. Dirty bedspread and blanket. Third coffee maker finally worked. No CUC's in $1.00 form! So much more!!! Don't go here!

Sol Cayo Coco: good time

when to resort to surprise my older brother and his wife, had good time but very windy, no rain but windy, food was good and bars good. best bartenders were yasmany and alfredo, very quite place not for party group, beaches are very long and nice soft white sands ,would go back if the price was right"

Melia Cayo Coco: Wonderful holiday, great resort

My mom and I stayed at Melia Cayo Coco from Jan. 10 - 17, 2017. This was my third time staying at this resort (fifth time in Cayo Coco, sixth in Cuba) and my mom's second time. It is a very short drive from the airport. The check-in process is always a bit slow, but not terrible, and they bring you welcome drinks. We arrived around 1 p.m. and our room was ready. The rooms are clean and spacious but are outdated and could use a refresh, especially the bathroom. Instead, we went to the pool every day. The beach is normally wonderful, though—well-maintained, sandy. They even widened the beach since our last time there. The pool and pool area are very nice and well-maintained. The staff at the pool bar/snack bar are hard-working and friendly. Staff come around the pool area to take your drink orders and are lovely. The animation/activities team really make the experience special. There are always activities you can choose to take part in by the pool: water aerobics, dancing lessons, painting, etc. The lobby bar is lovely and has a great atmosphere. There is musical entertainment in the evenings. We ate at the buffet for all meals. The service there is impeccable. We really appreciate the great salad bar, which includes beans, rice, veggies, potatoes, and lots of options for dressing. The pasta bar is great too. We would have liked to see more vegan options as well as gluten-free options. The "Vegetarian Corner" at lunch and dinner is poorly situated behind the raw meat and fish grilling station, and you have to get past the people waiting in line at the grill to access the vegetarian food. Also, you cannot trust that the vegetarian food is actually vegetarian—more than once I found pieces of meat or fish in a dish there, which is not okay. The front desk staff were good and were able to deal with multiple requests at a time. When we wanted to find out if the pharmacy at the market carried a product we needed, a staff member called to find out that they had it and then called us a cab to take us there. Overall, this resort is wonderful, the staff is outstanding, and we will certainly be back.

Hotel Playa Coco: Definitely a Four Star Plus

From the time of entering the main lobby on Jan06, till leaving the night of Jan16, would have to say, one of the best trips and resorts we have had the opportunity to visit and enjoy. We are 70 and 71. The staff, the rooms, the restaurants, the food, the pool areas, the bars, along with the area and surroundings would have to be rated either a 9 out of 10, or a 10 out of 10. Would have no hesitation too bring children or grandchildren. The resort is well layed out, lots of wide paved paths throughout the complex, and so easy to get around. Did not spend too much time on the beach as there were strong winds most of the time. However we did walk the beach area and is was really nice. There are lounge chairs every where, so no need to worry about finding one to relax. Just had a great relaxing vacation, would have no problem in going back, and would recommend this resort. Should mention that there is extensive construction and remodelling in process, but it never seemed to bother us at any time. Apparently this resort is over 12 years old, and they are making updates. Our room was bright, clean, and comfortable. we stayed in building 5, ocean front. There are 9 condo type buildings throughout the complex. Found the noise and music a bit loud at the main pool, especially in the late morning and afternoon. We just moved over to what we would call the 'quiet pool area' which is another location about a 2-3 minute walk away. Good resort, good value of the money, good food, very clean, very relaxing.

Melia Cayo Coco: AMAZING VACATION!!! JANUARY 2017!!

My husband & I vacationed at this resort last week (Jan 8 - Jan 15) & we had an amazing time! We have absolutely no complaints with this resort! We have travelled to a few different places (Mexico, Dominican & Cuba) & this was the best experience we have had out of all our trips down south. The people were so friendly & chatty! The food was delicious & the beach was breathtakingly beautiful! We stayed in one of the villas on the lagoon & it was definitely worth it as we had our own private oasis! This was a very relaxing trip for us! The entertainment was good as well - they had nightly entertainment & daily activities at the pool area. Another bonus was we were approx. 15 minutes from the airport so not a long bus drive to the resort - we never heard 1 plane take off or land so very quiet! I will start with mentioning the positive aspects of my stay at this resort. The staff was extremely friendly and I believe they may have been short staffed the week we stayed there (or need to hire more people for the size of the resort), but they did their best to keep up with all the guests. We arrived late on Saturday evening, and the power went out due to a storm in the area (not at all the resorts problem, they did have a generator that powered the main lobby) But once we got off the bus we were herded like cattle into a room where everyone from the large group that arrived had to check in all at once, with our names being screamed across the room. We then could not go to our rooms because the power was still out in all the buildings (again, not the resorts problem), late in the evening the lights came back on, so my husband and I were driven to our room with our luggage. As we proceeded up to our room we noticed the lights were not working on the entire third floor of the building. The man that drove us left us in the room and went to get help. he came back and was able to get the lights on- so he left. Not even 2 minutes later the lights went out (only on our floor) again. My husband then had to run to the front lobby (we were one of the furthest buildings from there) to get someone to turn them on again. The staff managed to get them on again, only for them to go out again not to long after. My husband then ran to the front again- this continued and happened several times. By approximately 6:30AM, the resort finally agreed to re locate us to another building. We were then brought to a room with 2 single beds. We had asked to be re located the next day to a room with a king size bed, but after several attempts with the staff, we ended up giving up and just stayed in the room we were given. Another aspect that we were not happy with was the buffet. We did not attempt to go to the a la carte restaurants, because they were booked solid for most of the week and we didn't want to wait in a long line to be told they were all booked. The buffet was too small to accommodate the size of the resort, it was like run of the bulls moving around in the area where you get food. The food was also always cold, whether it was never properly heated or their warming trays didn't work. The stands they have in the buffet area where you could make your own pasta or get meat cooked in front of you was located in a bad area where it blocked off parts of the buffet and with the massive lines made it difficult to get at certain foods. I also found that the food was almost never labelled properly; I do not have any allergies, but people do, and the labels should be a priority when setting out food. The resort also ran out of beach towels on a daily basis. We luckily brought our own, so it was not an issue for us, but people were constantly complaining about it. My final thoughts on our experience overall was that the resort is not equipped to manage all of the people it is made to hold. They need more staff, and need to take better steps to make sure there are enough supplies for all the guests.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Big resort but not enough staff to accomidate

Beach was nice but no water for 2 days can really send a negative vibe through out the resort, slow staff, only interested in tipping clients, poor food quality, Buffett always cold, front desk no help once so ever, I heard more "Sorry" from Cubans than Canadians. Both phones in our room did not work, had to change rooms 3 times because of no water or power, block 16301, and then was promised a new room the next day and then of course, "Sorry" we are over booked. I have never complained before on a site, but this is my one holiday a get a year and felt I was ripped off.

Hotel Playa Coco: Great Family Destination

My family and I really enjoyed this resort. There were many places to get food and drinks and we never had to wait long. Not a ton of different foods but enough to keep you interested for a week. Great Staff was friendly and helpful. The Beach was nice and there were many, many chairs and shade huts available for everyone (not a place where you have to be out claiming a spot before the suns up). Pools were well kept. Melia Costa Rey: Awesome Resort

We stayed here from Jan 7 to Jan 14. The view from the balcony is simply amazing. Only drawback is we had lots of windy days this week. Unfortunately the lobby has no coverage from the wind everything is open therefore very hard to find a place to relax and get a drink without feeling the wind. Food was great best I have had by far in Cuba. The Japanese a la carte was awesome. The French cuisine was also great. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Awesome resort!

Memories Flamenco is a great resort. The massive beach is just beautiful. It's awesome for swimming and snorkeling. We wandered to the far end around the bend where there was plentiful ocean life and interesting finds every day in the shallows. The two large pools are fantastic, one with excitement and activity every day, the other for a quieter setting. The pool bar is both dry on one side and a swim up on the other which is really cool. The 24 hour snack restaurant is such a convenience to have especially when you are away with two hungry teen aged boys. Their ham and cheese sandwich and the hot dogs (both grilled) are our recommendations! The buffet is massive which gives ample options. We found the food adequate. The best part of the buffet was the live grill at the back where you can get a fresh omelet or eggs over easy every morning, and fresh grilled meat chicken or fish for lunch and dinner. Had a great week with the family!

beach was beautiful - lots of shade as well. Pools were also amazing. Staff were so friendly & helpful. A la cartes were so good & food at the resort was best I had in Cuba. Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort but some hiccups along the way

The resort itself is beautiful! Good food and overall good service. We had a few hiccups along the road that made our stay difficult. To start we had no hot water during our stay so we had to take cold showers all week. On top of that a few days were spent with no water at all. The sewage outside our room had irrupted and there was water all over the sidewalk We had a bit of a confrontation with the towel worker, he was very rude and threaten to strangle us if we didnt bring our towels bac [... read more]k. He also made comments saying that he is working and we are on vacation which means we can afford to wait a few days to get towels. We spent the first 3 days without a towel and the rest of the stay with the same towel because he never had fresh ones ... On a good note we had a great relationship with the entertainment staff. A special thank you to Jorgito, Elier and Bombino for their amazing dancing and entertainment! Our trip wouldnt have been the same without them and they are the highlight of our trip. Would not recommend this resort for the above reasons but the staff is great !

Hotel was clean, room was clean, pools clean, beach clean and beautiful..... Arrived at 11.30am did not get room until 6pm...... Most staff were very friendly, other than the Lobby/Front desk staff............. Long line ups at Lobby bar..... Washrooms....shortage or toilet paper and paper towels and some not working. Shortage of plates at buffet restaurant, had to wait most days for plate....and line ups for food..... 24 hr snack bar awful service food was 40min wait for snacks and drinks [... read more] never arrived. No beach towels available for first 2 days..... Food was good at this resort, compared to other Cuban resorts..... The resort was way too busy and not enough staff at lobby bar and 24hr restaurant to cope with the amount of people here, otherwise the resort is great, most staff are very friendly but over worked.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great resort

The grounds , public areas, rooms etc are kept very well and clean. The staff were very friendly and do everything to make sure you were happy. The food was good I'm sure well above average in Cuba standards. The evening shows in the lobby area were great every night.We had a wonderful relaxing week there

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great trip

Hotel and grounds were very nice. Although only a year old the rooms are a little worn. The food was as expected for Cuba but the staff could use some training in safe food handling. The entertainment staff made the trip and the evening shows were excellent.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Good resort

The beach is great. The grounds are good, and the pools are very good. There are lots of loungers available at both beach and pool. The food is typical Cuban. The grills are small and wait time can be long, specially if people order for more than one (like getting servings for 10 other). The ice cream counter is very popular. There can be three flights to your room so use a porter to carry your heavy bags! The internet is poor, and usually not working! The entertainment is typically Cuban, but  [... read more]can be enjoyable with a few drinks. Go for the sun, beach, pools, free drinks, and a bit of exercise. Don't expect great food and you can have a good time.

The staff was great. The foid was good. We were there last week and the resort was full. Although the staff was fantastic they coukd not keep up. They could use more staff to help during the busy season. I wouls go back and recommend it.

Hotel Playa Coco: First time in paradise

Every person have different taste, of course different opinion. First time being in this place (from Dec 25 to Jan 01), for me and for my husband everything was just incredibly beautiful, comfortable etc. People were so kind. Before I left Montreal Canada, I read that the send is full of bags, also in the rooms. It is not true. There is nothing which would make it uncomfortable to stay and enjoy. Melia Jardines del Rey: Fabulous Resort!!!!!

We were there in November and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The resort, the rooms were extremely clean. The resort size was perfect for us, walking distance to the beach and pools. The food was excellent, always something to eat when you were hungry, there was a 24 hour area open. The beach was breathtaking. Entertainment was phenomenal, we had a blast with all the entertainers, they were fun and interactive, we participated every chance we had. We actually stayed on the resort all week because we were happy with all of the events taking place each and every night. It was a fantastic vacation and we will be back next year for sure. We all had a blast, my daughters, myself and my husband.
