Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Excellent resort!

Really nice resort, well maintained and updated, and giving the cozy, welcoming feeling. Staff was really nice, just there to ensure you are having a good time without being overbearing. Just right. The grounds were not too large to need a ride from one end to the other and spacious enough to not feel overcrowded. Again, a good balance. Food was good, and varied.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort, Not So Good Food

The resort grounds and beach were amazing! The rooms were good, everything worked except the water pressure wasn't the best. The Japanese and International A La Cartes were awesome, Cuban not so great being outside with bugs and birds. The Buffet was okay, the same everyday, which got boring but you don't go to Cuba expecting great food. Definitely recommend going on snorkeling right off the beach. The catamaran takes you out to the coral reef for a 1 hour snorkeling for 15 pesos a person.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort with outstanding staff

The Hotel was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very hard to get money from hotel (no ATM). The beaches and water was something else. I have not experience such beauty in all my other travels/destinations. The food was what I was told it would be however I did manage to gain 5 pounds so take it from there.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Fantastic Staff and Beautiful Beach

My friend and I stayed at the Laguna Azul in mid-February. The staff are lovely and rush to assist you. The beach is clean and beautiful. The food is okay, fairly staandard quality for Cuba, but does get boring after a week. Some of the rooms are very badly maintained and we had to switch our room afte the first day. Our major issue was finding a few cockroaches here and there (including a restaurant and our room) and the lack of sufficient air-conditioning in a few of the locations. Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great family resort!!

Went solo with my two kids, aged 13 (boy) and 6 year old girl...a kind of last minute chance to relax...the beach is the prettiest I've ever laid eyes on. The pools we clean and well maintained. The kids pool had the perfect sized slides and play structures for kids under 10....I actually got a giggle from going down one or two of them!! The service was amazing!! The ladies who do the kids activities were simply amazing, their love of kids shows...the Friday night fantasy show was cute and well performed...plus have me a 3 hour break as they rehearsed and went for lunch!!! The hotel itself was very well kept and maintained. The rooms were well equipped and clean, all our needs were met!! The only downside would have to be the food, lots of choice, and presented nicely, but sadly most of it fell below expectations....I think the trick was to stick with the "local" fare, they seemed to shine in that aspect. Breakfast was always good...best donuts ever!! Lunch was good too, lots of choice. Dinner had lots of choice, grilling stations were tasty. Desserts were yummy!! I can't speak of the a la cartes, I only did one, the Japanese and it was tasty and a nice show!! We stuck to the Buffett to give my kids the choices! I'd go back in a heart beat for the staff....and of course the beach!!!!

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Great resort with jungle

We had a great time for at this resort for ten days. It was great to visit with the animals in the jungle and cool off at the same time. The food at the buffet was the best we've encountered in any resort, and the trays were constantly replaced or refilled. There were many activities offered by the resort (from archery to zumba), and the staff were enthusiastic and friendly. Just one suggestion for the buffet would be to increase the heat lamps to keep the great food hotter.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Had a great time!

I've been to a few resorts and this one is comparable to most resorts. The food was excellent, I never had an issue finding something yummy to eat. The beds were super comfortable compared to some resorts that are rock hard. The entertainment team in my opinion is what made this resort. They were SO friendly and fun. Cupcake, Smiley and Angel made our trip a blast! They are such wonderful people and we miss them already. The ocean was warmer then the pool. It was not raked daily and there was sea weed on the shore in the sand. This was a small resort which depending on what you like could be a good or bad thing. It's easy to find people if your in a larger group. If your heading to this resort no worries you will have a good time! :)

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Would definitely go back!

This was our first time in Jamaica and chose the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Hotel since it was only 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel was beautiful and kept very clean. The beach was sandy and no rocks at all. Further down at the Iberostar Suite and Grand the beach and water is very rocky. The food was great and lots of selection. Only went to 2 of the nightly shows in the theatre but both were excellent.

We have have been to a lot of places and country's.But to are surprise we so happy and I very impressed with the resort. People were very friendly, the room was great! We had a great time,we will be back agian

Grounds are beautiful, although spread out, lots of walking. Food was very good, service was fine. Rooms were kept meticulously! Not my favourite but if the price was right I'd go again. We had a great vacation!

A true 5 star resort! Excellent service from staff. Beautiful lobby, well decorated. There is even a separate bar lounge with a piano player. Also a cigar lounge next to cigar store. Restaurants discreetly tucked away. Fabulous seafood restaurant located near beach. Amazing beaches, clear turquoise water, fine white sand, can walk long distances. Tropical fish near rock formation at Ensenachos beach. Rooms are in 2 storey buildings, entrance to room in a courtyard. Vestibule in room, walk in clo [... read more]set, very large bathroom in marble with separate shower and bath. Bedroom immaculate, tastefully decorated, white duvets available, in closet. Large private terrace. The landscaping is remarkable. Gorgeous swimming pools! A wonderful retreat.

Overall great experience at Iberostar Laguna Azul! Nice hotel and it was clean. Buffet had average food but the a la carts were great. Entertainment was good. People were very friendly and helpful. Hotel had great pools and a beautiful beach!

hotel was always clean and fresh your room was done so fresh everyday room service amazing anytime at night. we would recommend this hotel to everyone the grounds so pretty beach love it. the entertainment Wow best vacation we were just wondering if the suite was so good then the grand must be amazing

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Iberostar Bed Bugs

My husband and I had gone on a holiday to Cuba to the Iberostar Playa Alameda to enjoy the blue skies, the bright hot sun and the wide beaches and warm waters. Little were we prepared for the huge problems that were waiting for us. We got a great deal on the internet thru ‘hola sun’ and were excited to going to a five-star hotel in Varadero, Cuba. However, upon arriving at the hotel, little did we realize that our problems had just begun. We could not get a room until about 3:00 pm. Even the [... read more] room that was booked for us was not available, although all the over facilities (restaurants and bar) were. When we enquired with the receptionist, all that she could explain to us was that the supervisor was not responding. Even after getting a substitute room, we were rudely awakened within an hour by one of the staff who thought the room was not yet booked. It was only then that our troubles began. The bed bugs. The bed bugs were fierce.I was the worst to suffer. On the first night itself, there were marks on both my legs, hands and body. At first we thought that they were mosquito bites, but we were sadly mistaken. The bite marks increased the next day and went on right up until the last day. Surprisingly enough, the bed bugs on my husband's bed were very few. On the fourth day, we approached the front-desk reception and explained to them the situation. We even showed them the marks on my wife’s legs. We even implored to them to change our room. All that we could get out of them was a ‘change in the bed-sheet covers’. The bites still continued. I think, they had given us one of the worst rooms – room No. 1907. Towards the end of our holiday, my wife had about 18 marks on the right leg and 15 marks on the left leg. The food was okay for the first two days. Later on, the food kept on getting repeated. It was really boring to eat the same food. The staff at the restaurant and bars were very polite and helpful. But the staff at the ‘A La Carte’ restaurants always kept looking at our hands for tips after our dinner. The food in the ‘A La Carte’ restaurants however was better, but the service was extremely slow. The entertainment department needs to fix their amplifiers. Not a word could be understood of any song that was sung. Only noise. Each night, my wife and I went back to our rooms with a throbbing headache and deaf ears. The sound systems were unnecessary loud. Towards the end of our stay, the staff in the Lobby bar and Gym started sneezing all over the place. My wife then caught the cold, and then had to be indoors most of the time. We could not even take a dip in the swimming pool. The Pool, our AC in the room and the beach however, were very inviting. The only saving grace in our vacation. I know this note is long. But think twice before you vacation at the Iberostar Playa Alameda. One of the worst restaurants in Varadero. Even our agent of Hola Sun came only once to meet with us, thereafter, he went missing. If you need to exchange your C$, it is best to do it at the hotel than at the airport. The Airport exchange rate is 1.17 whilst at Iberostar it is 1.16. We found this the most surprising incident at the hotel, since they were unaware of the difference in the rate. My husband believes that there is some form of racial profiling going on at the Hotel, but don't think there is any. I think, this should be just enough to stop even thinking of Ibersotar Playa Alameda. As for me and my husband, we have had enough of Cuba. No more.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: 5 star resort? I don't think so...

This resort was recommended to me by a friends of mine who claimed that it was the best place she had ever been at. I on the other hand was not impressed at all. On first impression, the location was nice, there were flamingos in the lobby area which was a nice touch. For a 5 star resort, it was lacking... if you compare it to a 5 star resort in Punta Cana. However putting aside comparing the two locations, these were some positives and negatives about this resort from my experience. Good: - ni [... read more]ghtly shows were entertaining and excellent performances. - introduction to scuba diving lessons Bad: - food was decent, but mostly too salty or too sweet, lack of veggie options at the buffet and restaurants - a/c broke down in our room one night - shower ran out of water while showering - pool was small and dirty (dead bugs, twigs and leaves) - medical health was questionable, unprofessional, and not tourist friendly - staff were half and half on being professional and not very pleasant - the bracelet given to us did not last the week stay, the ink rubbed off on us (took forever to wash off) and thankfully not our clothes In conclusion, I would not recommend this resort to my friends and family. Maybe it was the bad luck or the lack of "wow" factor. This is only my second time being in Dominican Rupublic, and after this experience I will likely to not return to this resort or country.

The entire place was clean beautiful and had lots of sites to see. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. Definitely stay there again. Beach was beautiful clean and lots of room. Liked how the pool went from one end to another and you could swim or walk it

The service,the staff,the food,the room,the place was superb!the beach was relaxing and ocean for swimming beautiful and calm,beautiful land scraping and property, intertaiment was exciting especially on the beach.

We stayed here in late September through beginning of October and really enjoyed it. The food was good but not excellent. Did the three a la carte which were also good, but the strak house was best. The white sandy beach was great as was the pool and all entertainment.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average Resort

Mainly good attention and front service was accommodating. Nice grounds, swimming pool and beach. The food was good, however they included too many regional dishes comparing with the more international food that used to be on May 2013. The night shows were mediocre. There were bugs in the food of the Japanese restaurant. In the International restaurant, no all the dishes showed in the menu were available.

Rooms kept clean, grounds well maintained, lobbey bathrooms clean. Terrace off the lobbey highlight of resort. Dissappointed in the food and i have travelled to Cuba many times, for a 5 star resort very disappointing. Staff are amazing
