Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Excellent resort

Everything was perfect.Room was very clean, staff friendly,huge resort but very beautiful.I strongly recomend it I'll return for sure.They have several pools located nearby.Bahia Principe Punta Cana is the best buffet for dinner.The beach was great I swam in the ocean every day.You don't to leave the resort complex,there isn't much to see outside of it and shopping is a distance away.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Beyond expectations

This hotel resort was beyond my expectations. The grounds were lush, filled with beautiful birds, impeccably kept. The rooms were clean, however there was one hiccup, all the rooms in the 42 block had King beds, so if travelling with friends as we did it might not suit your needs, however the beds are so large that it ended up working for us. The staff in the restaurants went over and above to give you an amazing dining experience. I have never been on such a happy resort and I have travelled to many. We had a few issues at the beginning of our stay but management went the extra mile to make it right and continued to make sure our needs were met as the week progressed. The only thing I was not impressed with was the room staff, we were a party of eight with four rooms and it seemed with all of us it was hit and miss for the cleaning of the room, turn down services and restocking of toiletries. One of the highlights of this resort was being able to access the other three Bahia resorts, stay at one play at four. The shuttle services were easily accessible and the drivers very friendly and accommodating. At first I was bummed out we were not on the beach but as the week moved on I was pleased we had picked the smaller and quieter of the four resorts because going to the private beach allowed for the Sian Ka'an was relaxing and fun. We were also allowed to use the other beaches and all other facilities. Our Air Canada Rep was wonderful and extremely helpful. In closing I would not hesitate to recommend this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Cayacoa resort is better!!

Beach is beautiful, however many cats and dogs walking through the resort. Entertainment was a little boring and inappropriate at times. Food was good. Need to wake up very early to get a chair both by the pools and or at the beach. Lots of French Canadians at this resort. Not worth paying the extra for Royal Golden as we were not in prime location, and only got turn down service 1 night. The room service menu is nothing much either. Staff were not all friendly nor were they appreciative of tips [... read more]. If going to Samana I would strongly recommend staying at Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great location, amazing beach, good food

We loved the fact that this resort is isolated, that you can walk down the beach for a long ways in either direction and be all by yourself. If you want to go into town, it's just 10min by taxi. The beach is gorgeous, with lots of chairs, lots of shade if you want it, perfect sand, and crystal clear water. There is a reef right off the beach, so if you want to see some fish, just stick your face in. The food was as good as any resort I've been to, and the a la carte meals were truly special, not just re-presented buffet food. A lot of French speaking guests here, and the resort staff seem to be more comfortable in French than English, which wasn't a problem for us. The room we had was nice - everything worked (though the AC was a bit noisy), and it was kept spotless throughout the week. Highly recommended.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: I will be returning to this Hotel!!

The whole property is amazing and very spacious. We never had to wait in line-ups because the service was amazing. The best part of the Hotel is the people (staff). The animation team is amazing!! Teddy Bear and Mantaraya were my favorites because they made me feel so special and I was never bored because they made sure I would participate in all the events! Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: what we like

Hotel was a little larger than we like, about 600 rooms. Although this did not make it seem crowded. The beach was great with good snorkeling close to shore. We had a lot of wind the week we were there which caused the water to be a bit cloudy in some locations. The outer reef area protected the swimming area from large waves. The food was good with lots of variety, the main buffet had a different theme each night. We went to two of the four ala carte restaurants the Brazilian and the sea  [... read more]food. Both were good. We had booked a royal golden superior Jr. suite. The room was large well furnished and the bathroom was high quality with a jacuzzi tub, separate large shower. The location of these suites is in quite location with a separate pool with bar. The rooms were kept very clean, lots of towels. We did not attend any of the nightly shows that started at 9:30pm but did enjoy the musical entertainment in the outdoor lounge next to the lobby from 8:300--9:30. All the staff we dealt with were great. Over all had a great time.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Not impressed

This is not a 5 star resort, more like a 3 star ! Any service connected to the room was terrible ! The room was nice. Getting drinks served by the ocean or pool was very poor. We had to bring our own luggage to and from the room. Upon arrival at the resort, we were told the rooms were not ready, we had to sit in the lobby for an hour, then we were taken to the beach bar ? They said food was there, guess what ,,,, no food ! There was no 24 hour snack bar ! So we went over there to get food. They should know after travelling we would be hungry thirsty and tired ! The restaurants were not 5 star, only 2 did not have buffet style, the Japanese and Don Pablo. Any other resort i have gone to did not have buffet style in speciality restaurants. This represents poor dinning service ! Simple foods that grow on the island were not available on most days, bananas, pineapple were 2 of them. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Peaceful, Tranquil, Beautiful

Loved this resort. Food was great, lots of selection. Service was very good, no complaints. Loved the pools and golf course was perfect. Lots of choice of amenities between all 4 resorts and convenient shuttles made it easy to see everything. Good choice of entertainment at each resort. Very nice beach. I would definitely go back.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful resort

The resort was really nice. Rooms were very clean and staff were great. The beach was always ruff, they have tried to control this by placing large breakers in the ocean. The pools were ok. The one bad thing was no water pressure in either of the bathrooms we had. We were a long way from the main buffet (1.5Km). Any side trips you want to take are 2 -3 hrs away. We didn't do any for that reason. The drive to and from the airport could have been better with the attendants passing on some info  [... read more]from the island.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Amazing resort!

Recently we stayed at this amazing resort. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed watching the ocean from the balcony of our junior suite ocean view room. The cleaning staff kept our room spotlessly clean, and we enjoyed the nightly turn down service. The food was delicious (excelente). The drinks were great. The hotel and grounds were continuously being cleaned and groomed. This small resort was quiet and we could always find a chair whether on the beach, pool, bar or restau [... read more]rants. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Luxury Bahia 9th time

Okay, first of all, there were 4 of us.....Denis Huberdeau, Caroline Guertin, Joanne Clark and Lucie Huberdeau This hotel I swore by and have sent many people to. However, it has taken a major turn. I (Lucie) offered my Sister Joanne a spl trip for xmas and as soooo disappointed. I also suggested and referred Denis and his wife to go here for their 25 Wed Anniversary. Horrible. Joanne and I got there first Feb 9 and Denis and his wife caught up to us on Feb 12. We had asked if po [... read more]ssible to be put in a specific area on the site in which did not happen. First afternoon at the beach, we asked to changed chairs as the chairs we are sitting on are privileged members ONLY!!!!! What is a privileged member now...? we need to buy it....become a sorta RCI type member for 17,000 US $ ..this is sooo crazy. After going 9 times and sending all kinds of people. this is the treatment we get? Both our rooms were on the outside of the site, alongside a construction site. Just horrible. Also booking outtings with AC sucks....they are not on time, furthermore, we were told that we needed to be in the lobby one hour prior to the departure of the bus to make our way back home. Guess what, we are told that the bus is running 20 mins late. We wait the 2o mins to finally be told that the bus has already come and gone. There were 3 couples including ourselves waiting on the bus. AC didn't care, they told us that if we wanted to make the flight that we had to a cab a $40 US ride. This we had to pay out of our pockets. They are now just money makers......horrible. Will not go again with AC as a supplier nor will the Bahia Princ see us anytime soon. I strongly suggest and will refer future clients to the Secrets!!!!!!!!! Was sitting on the beach one day with people that had a greyish/gold type bracelet on in which they claim got first class service in everything they did as the were now privileged due to the amount of times they had been there! Give me a break. This was my 9th and last time. we are treated like any local unless we now buy the priviledged package that Mr DON offers to clients for a cheap amount of $17,000 US.....trust me, 17,0000 US can take me for a long ride without having to put up with all this nonsense of being low class......Will never recommend another person to your site!!!!!! if you do a quick math of an avge of 1800 per trip per person 9 years in a row. MY PRIVILEGE SHOULD BE UP AND ABOVE THE DIAMOND CLASS OF PEOPLE.......ONE LAST COMMENT, IT RAINED FOR 3 DAYS AND WE WERE NEVER ABLE TO GET DRY TOWELS, WHETHER IN THE ROOMS .........OR AT THE POOL. SHOWERTIME CAME AROUND, WE GOT WET TOWELS TO DRY WITH!!! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful Resort

The resort was beautiful the staff was very Accomodating and very friendly. The grounds were very pretty and very well taken care of. This resort had many restaurants and the buffet was alway fresh and very well displayed,..was always appealing to eat at. I really enjoyed exploring the other resorts either by walking or by the cart drivers. The other resorts always made you feel comfortable and were always happy to help!! Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Beautiful resort

The rooms are beautiful and super clean . The food was very good finally somewhere that my husband enjoyed eating . There lots to do and night time entertainment was fun. The people are amazing . We even got a bonus that's very rare . A FALLING STAR FELL RIGHT INFRONT OF US ON OUR WAY TO THE BEACH. There was 4 of us that saw it . They say that is VERY LUCKY .

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Enjoyed our stay but will not return

We just spent a week at the Luxury Gran Bahia in Runaway Bay. This is a beautiful resort and we were fortunate to have a room overlooking the sea. We had no problem booking our a la carte restaurants and enjoyed most of them. The Brazilian BBQ and the Tepanyaki were our favourites. The entertainment was good for the most part with the Michael Jackson show being the one to see if you're not into shows every night. The majority of staff were not personable, we never saw our butler after check-in even when we called for service and check-in and check-out is terribly unorganized. Service was lacking unless you were willing to tip extra for each and everything. We were told repeatedly, it's all about the pocket. We always tip our room attendants, the restaurant staff, the mini bar, and the beach bar staff but it never seemed enough. I will say, however that Maureen from the beach was amazing. For anyone thinking about joining the Privilege Club, Google the reviews and then run in the opposite direction. We almost got caught, but took time to run the numbers and realized it's not a deal.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very Nice Resort

This resort is very nice, clean and staff are friendly, although it is a very large resort. It was a bit challenging (and frustrating) the first few days to find our way around. It would be a good idea for the resort to put a "you are here" on their maps. Reception upon arrival was lacking; there was no orientation on how things worked around the hotel, i.e. where we could find lunch, what restaurants we could use, towels, etc. We were basically directed to a seat in the lobby with no further di [... read more]rections. After a few minutes we were given our envelope which included our key, a map of the resort and a schedule of the daily activities and a bracelet for our wrist. The rooms are very nice and spacious. And clean! They are cleaned everyday and the fridge was always stocked. The grounds are beautiful; manicured gardens always being worked on. The pools were great and always seats available, although the shaded ones are limited. The resort should consider getting more umbrellas. There is heavy construction taking place on one side of the resort which is very loud, fortunately, we were place on the pool side so we did not get any of this noise. The lobbies are very spacious and comfortable; very conducive to a relaxing atmosphere. Entertainment was always provided in the evening such as live music, dancing, etc. Michael Jackson show was excellent. Waiters are very attentive and always checking on drinks. We did not try any of the restaurants as we did not want to be committed to reservations (time) and we were quite happy with the buffet. Staff are very friendly and we did not encounter any problems. We enjoyed eating in the open air section of the buffet restaurant. The beach was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the ocean. It was a bit challenging to find loungers at times as many of them are reserved very very very early in the morning. But we managed ok and spent a lot of time walking the beach. The beach is a fair distance from our room but shuttles are always going by to provide rides to wherever you're going. If I was to comment on anything about this resort is the communication between the resort and their guests is not very clear. (orientation upon arrival and map)

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Perfect Resort

There is nothing I would change in the resort. Rooms, beautiful, large and with everything one would need. Clean and fresh with an east facing balcony to allow the morning sun. The food was perfect and plentiful. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very BIG but AMAZING RESORT!!

We loved the Grand Bahia Principe "Punta Cana". it takes a couple days to familiarize yourself with the grounds as they are HUGE! but tons to do. The property is extremely clean, staff are very polite. Drinks are abundant. Beach is one of the nicest we have visited. Food was just incredible (at the buffet), each night features a different theme. If you would like to reserve a specialty restaurant, try doing so the week prior to your visit as they book up fast. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Average resort

I thought this resort was pretty average. The food was good when it was hot. It could use some updating in the rooms. The service was hit or miss but there were a couple of times it was really good. I liked the layout because it made the large resort seem small, all the amenities were in close proximity. The beach was ok but nothing spectacular.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Really really great

Everything was wonderful we enjoyed our stay we were well looked after and the staff people took great care and were great. The food was excellent the rooms are very very nice the beaches and pools are beautiful and clean with many lounges and seating

Cayo Levantado Resort: Perfect for an utterly relaxing vacation

This resort is a one hour ride from the small Samana airport. We were delivered by bus to a check in building on the mainland and after the quick, pleasant check in, we were escorted to a small ferry which took us to the resort in approximately 10 minutes. Our room, which had two double beds as requested, was in one of the larger buildings and came with a massive balcony with a distant view of the water between the trees. The bathroom had a separate shower and jet tub and there was a minibar in  [... read more]the bedroom. The beach was great, with plenty of shade, but because it is on a point, it is really windy on one side and still fairly breezy on the other. The three pools are nice, none are particularly noisy which is great. The average guest age seemed to be 55+ and the resort is set up for handicapped people with elevator service down to the beach and some wheelchair accessible units. The service overall was good, spotty in places...I was constantly in bathrooms without toilet paper and getting coffee in the morning was a hassle. The food at the buffet was ok. There were a few meals where it was difficult to find food that we wanted to eat, so I stuck to fruit, salads and plain chicken when that occurred. I tried a few drinks, but found that I just couldnt get them made the way I like them, so I stuck to soda water with lime. I found that the majority of staff simply couldnt speak English beyond the basics and that made it difficult to communicate any issues. There were the usual problems with people reserving seats around the pool and beach early in the morning and then not showing up all day. There were complaints made by other couples to management and although lip service was given, there was nothing done. We didn't go to any of the restaurants nor did we watch any of the night shows, so I cannot comment on any of those things. Overall, we foun the resort pleasant and relaxing.
