Hotel Los Cactus: Very Relaxing

Beautiful gardens, lovely art, not overly crowded. Beautiful beach. Very limited live Cuban music entertainment - given all the wonderful music and musicians in Cuba, somewhat of a surprise. Good for a quiet do nothing and relax and read and Beach walk vacation . Lots of cigarette smokers.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice resort

The resort was nice. Very astetically pleasing. The food was not all that good, for a 4.5 star. The Japanese restaurant was by far the best. The beach was beautiful, the pool area was also great! Overall good resort but for the money a little over priced as we went in January

Palma Real: Horrible

Horrible where to start, food at the hotel can't even eat it they left out food that went bad and wouldn't remove it, had to eat outside the hotel everyday, no towels in the room, went almost a hold day without water in the room do not take your kids to this hotel

Melia Marina Varadero: Nice resort

Nice hotel very friendly staffs food its ok not the best but ok only one pool but ho care the beach is perfect room are clean drinks are okay overall it is very good resort and we had a wonderful stay don’t forget its Cuba 🇨🇺

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing day at Iberastart Laguna Azul

Laguna Azul is Amazing hotel. The service is fantastic. The food and drinks are great. The installations are always clean. The night shows are beautiful. The people are incredible, they always have a positive actitud and are trendily. My family and Me had a really good time. Actually, my soon asked us to stay there more days, but we couldn’t. Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Worst rooms and service

I ll start off on the positive; food was good, beach & ocean was amazing. Most staff (servers) were friendly. Great espressos. And the negative: Linens super dirty with stains Beach towel dirty with stains Didnt make beds for 3 days Didnt refill toilet paper for 3 days Didnt refill water for 3 days Ran out of certain drinks And lastly the worst thing is the staff's expectation of a tip. Grand Memories Varadero: Awesome resort

Food was exceptional and so many choices. Staff very friendly but not efficient .......................... .. ........................................................at least 200 characters

Resonance Blu Varadero: Old, not terrible but not nice either

Rooms were old, rusty furniture and hole in our sliding door about the size of a thick book. Had to patch it up with a grocery bag so moths stopped coming in. Otherwise besides the food everything else was great. Wish they had more events for kids. Never saw toopy and binoo and the kids play area was broken.

Hotel Los Cactus: Nice resort

Be Live Los cactus - nice resort, about 2 km from town roughly if you want to go there frequently need a cab. Booking a la cartes was an issue not enough space and you were allowed to book the days in advance so lots would book ahead and not show up. Los had nice suites if you book suite with garden view or Ocean view. We got the junior suites cause I booked run of mill resort or something and they give you what they have left. The buffet was decent. The resort is smaller and less people than other resorts in that area.The resort is really clean and the grounds are well kept.The beach and ambience were very nice. Did not have a commercial feel. Nice staff as well. It really depends where you want to be. Cab to town or walk really.

Melia Marina Varadero: First Time in Varadero

Stayed at Melia Marina in classic room with great view of the pool and the ocean ! Rooms are dated and in need of refresh but clean! Small things like no handle on outside of patio door to balcony extremely slow shower drain and very marked up dresser and a drawer that didn’t close properly are just signs of poor maintenance! We all know you don’t go to Cuba for the food and this place particularly the buffet are reasons people say this! Even though two of plates were not touched not one person ask if there was a problem and that has to be blamed on poor management! Enough of the negative the pools are clean and service at pool bar and lobby bar were good! The beach is beautiful but same cannot be said for beach bar and grill!. I would not recommend this resort as over New Years the premium paid is more than double what the resort s value really is!

Melia Marina Varadero: Disappointed

This resort was nothing like the review said it would be, were we victim to locals staying for The holiday? The last two days were the best and it seemed like Everthing changed after the holidays. Shame

Starfish Varadero: very relaxing,nice layout

Our stay at starfish was great. We enjoyed the beach very much, beautiful weather.grounds well maintained. buffet was very tasty with lost of variety. rooms clean. overall the hotel was excellent, Staff very helpful, bartenders very good. The sports bar was nice but could use new pool balls and pool cue, and repair the fuzz ball table.nice quiet location. we enjoyed our stay very much thanks

Starfish Varadero: Completely AMAZING!!!!

We arrived at Starfish in Varadero on Dec 30 for a week. The resort is very clean, staff is very helpful. wonderful people. Helped us get to our rooms, the meals at the buffet were fabulous & tasty & lots of variety. Had lobster new years eve, new years day for lunch and supper. The waiters & waitresses were so nice, really made our stay so comfortable,it was nice that they accommodated 11 people at the buffet. The bartenders were great. The layout of the hotel was very nice as our last evening it was windy, so we moved to the back pool and got out of the wind, was very easy to find our way around very happy, thanks you so much

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Beach is awesome!

The layout of the hotel was great. We had some issues with our specific room - AC was not properly working for the first 2 days but they did change the thermostat and it was great after that. We lost our hot water for the last 2 days and it was reported but it wasn't repaired by the time we left. Some staff were awesome and very friendly and working hard. Others seemed to be putting in time and a little crabby at times. Front desk reception was hit and miss. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average Resort

I did not have high expectations going in when we booked our vacation at the Iberostar Laguna Azul. The hotels need renovations. In our room, the shower head barley worked, we had to use the tub to wash off. The flow of the bathroom sink was also very low. We went with a group of 8 people, 2 out of the 4 rooms were better in terms of shower heads. The beds were comfortable enough to sleep. The food was average but that is to be expected with all inclusive resorts. I highly recommend if you choosing this location to take advantage of these dinners. The beech and pool areas were beautiful! We spent most of, if not all our vacation on the beach. Not far from the shoreline there were little reefs that if you have goggles you could see tropical fish. We did not do any of the excursions as half of our group go ill but did hear good things. If you are going to travel in Cuba it might be wise to take Dukoral to try and avoid getting ill. Overall the experience was ok/average. I don't think I would go back but there were several people when we were leaving that adore the place.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great location

Great location as we weren’t stuck in the resort thanks to the marina. Staff is very kind and they looked after us well. Food is a bit of an issue at this resort...very basic and sometimes they ran out of bread at breakfast or shrimp at dinner. They are not meant to welcome a huge number of guests. Things were better once the hotel had less guests after NYE. Cleanliness was another factor, they need to step it up on that side, hairs in the hallway, in the bathroom in areas we didn’t use and  [... read more]the couches could use a good clean. Beyond that, we had a wonderful time.

Melia Las Americas: Glorious Beach, Exceptional Staff

The hotel is exceptionally well appointed (by any standard). Food was incomparable (and clearly customized during our stay to appeal to the nationalities of the majority of guest while also offering local delicacies). Take advantage of the reef just off the pristine beach for world class snorkeling or a shallow scuba dive (staff located at the satellite scuba shop on the beach: Manuel and Brayan are skillful instructors for newbies yet provide enough interest in their tour of the reef to compl [... read more]etely satisfy my seasoned pro partner). Best still were the staff (have Raul make you a pinata colada or his speciality the "pick me up"). It's clear why so many have visited again and again.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful Family Vacation!

We travelled as a family group of 12. We loved the plantation style accommodations and beautiful grounds (those gardeners work so hard). The only drawback was that the hotel separated our family into 2 different buildings. Pick 25, 27, 29 for close to the beach/pool. We were in building 12 which was close to the lobby and main buffet restaurant. Walking in this beautiful environment is part of our resort enjoyment so we didn't mind it too much. Ping pong paddles were hard to get so bring your own if you'd like to play. We loved the Japanese restaurant. It was delicious and entertaining, as they cook right in front of you. All of the staff were so friendly. The little market displays were the same as in Varadero so save yourself the $20 cab ride for souvenirs, unless you want to see the town. The nighttime entertainment was super. We were impressed with the water ballet.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good resort

The hotel was still undergoing renovations. There were a number of bungalows not available during our stay, which on the plus side meant that the resort was only about half full meaning no line ups and always a chair at either the beach or the pool. The beach is beautiful! The bungalow we stayed in was a great location close to both the beach and the pool. The hotel was clean, but showed signs of deferred maintenance, most likely due to the focus being on getting the other bungalows ready for gu [... read more]ests. Food was fine, not a lot of variety at the buffet but always something for everyone. The Japanese restaurant was amazing. Great food and the chefs were awesome. Shout out to Roberto! The gentlemen at the beach were always quick to get chairs and remembered where we liked to be each day and had our chairs ready first thing in the morning. The lady making the coffees and Spanish coffees in the lobby bar was amazing and works very hard. We had the pleasure of having Elyani serving us each evening in the lobby bar and she was awesome. We had no air conditioning for the first couple of days and the Air Transat reps were great at following up with customer service to have the issue resolved. There was no hot water the last couple of days. So a few things for the hotel to work on. All in all the good outweighed the bad. The staff at the resort are all hard working and go out of their way to do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable.
