Las Palmas by the Sea: You get what you pay for

It is an older resort but kept very clean. You can eat and drink all you want, there is always something good at the buffet. The people are very friendly but not a lot of English. Mostly Spanish. The beach is not nice. No swimming because it was way to rough to go in. Rocky so it’s hard on your feet. Not a resort for people who like to party at night. No shows, and in the rooms there are no fridge or coffee machines. If you like quiet and relaxing it’s fine . No music around the adult po [... read more]ol.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: great resort

grounds are amazing,very clean,beach amazing(white sands)i recommended water shoes when swimming in ocean.buffet food was good but not much variety(lack of sea food) a la carte excellent(Kyoto) Italian restaurant(Marenostrum).Our room was nice but needs to be updated,it is not 5 star hotel, i will give 4-1/2 star.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Better than expected!

After reading the negative reviews for Bluebay I was not expecting much and we were surprised by how great it was. I was there 6 years ago and loved it then and it's still good but just a little older. Beach-I would say 3 out of 5 only because the water is murky right in front on the resort. The beach itself is beautiful with lots of loungers. I was expecting broken loungers but I didn't see any (just the odd back adjustment didn't work). If you walk 10 min to the left there is a beautiful cenote with the clearest water to swim in. Walk next door to the right and there is clear water unless it is windy when everywhere is murky and wavey. It is a great walking beach as you can go forever to the right. The seaweed is cleaned every day by the resort. Food-Amazing!!! This place has the best food I have ever had at any resort and I've been to many. It does change up for lunch and supper. I don't eat much meat at home but somehow I love the seafood, chicken, beef, and pork while I'm there. It is more tasty here. Everyone I talked to had the same thought so again I'm not sure why the negative comments. Constant refills to our drinks and emptying plates as we ate.Constantly refilling the trays and kept hot at the buffet. We did the seafood restaurant and was just okay in my books. The Italian one was better as it had an antipasto/salad bar which we loved and I had the free beef option which was melt in your mouth. Staff-can't say enough about them. We were treated like royalty from every single person we encountered. They have a huge staff.. Checkin and out were flawless. Drinks-great. They were good and lots of options. Smell-where is this sewage smell I read about? We smelt it lightly in one spot along the path to the beach but no where else. The rooms can smell a little musty when first entering but that is hard to beat in such a humid environment. Rooms-Same rooms. Could be updated but everything worked, hot water and nothing looked like it needed repair. The bar fridge was restocked daily. The toiletries were plentiful. Landscaping-beautiful. All plants were kept up and the walk from the lobby area to the beach area was so nice with lights along it, stamped concrete wide path. They were painting Pools-Huge clean beautiful clear pools. You had to get there by 10:00 to get a lounger if you wanted to lay right by the pool but there were people leaving if you watched for it. Easier to get a spot by the quieter pool by the lobby. Nice loungers that all seemed to work that we saw. We saw a big party in the pools by the beach on Friday afternoon with music and bubbles and it was entertaining to watch the young people having so much fun. Entertainment-Each night had a family show at 9:30 and sometimes live music before and after also in the black and white bar. Sometimes it said Karaoke but there was a show instead. The performers were all good. Carts-we didn't have any problem getting rides with our luggage and sometimes they stopped and asked if we wanted a ride which we said no because we aren't lazy and enjoyed the beautiful walks around the resort. Hope this helps you decide to go and you will have a great time if you don't expect 5 star for a 3 star price. Also if you are a young person looking for a fun nightlife place this might not be the place for you.

Riu Santa Fe: Nice Resort

We were charged $471.52 pesos for taxes upon check in. We booked AI, no taxes should be payable at resort. Fire Alarms woke us up 6 times in 2 weeks. No Fire. Sunwing Rep refers to Reception for everything. Local Bus driver attacked at Bus stop while we were passengers. No pillow cases - just pillow protectors after room cleaned. Condensation running down patio doors most mornings. Temperature in room 21.5.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: great resort

The resort was nice , very clean . The rooms very dated ,, and certainly not 5 star quality , and the walls seemed paper thin . we heard everything from people being sick, to curtains closing . service was excellent , great hard working staff . The Tropical drinks were too sweet , very syrupy . and watered down , you're a 5 star resort use real fruit in those drinks . The food was good in the buffet , and excellent in the specialty restaurants

Canto Del Sol: Good Resort

Very close to airport (10 minutes) so a bonus . Resort grounds were well kept. Beds were comfortable , room bathroom was showing it’s age , leaky toilet tile cracked in shower , and shower quite discoloured and not very clean . Our balcony was very tiny with just one very old chair , but we didn’t plan on spending lots of time on it . Staff were pleasant . Pool area , dining area were clean. Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Still great. Riu palace is always my favourite.

This is a great resort and it’s my 3rd or 4th time here. First time back since dec 2019. Nothing has suffered during the down time of Covid. The food is still good, the restaurants still had great service. The grounds and cleanliness are still top notch. I don’t think they have a mask policy as I didn’t notice 100% of staff with masks. Some food servers did, but I think that may a general food handling requirement. Certainly not for Covid though. This has got a great beach to [... read more] lie on with tons of chairs and lots of shady trees. I counted about 75 columns of trees with 4 - 5 in each column. So roughly 300. You can walk this beach about 30 minutes north and 2 hours south if walking is your thing.. Right now, traffic is ver very bad due to construction around and leading to the airport. My transport has been 30-40 minutes in the past and this time it was close to 2 hrs. Also there are 5 or 6 new hotels on the costa Mujeres strip, so you’ll probably be going on a tour bus and making multiple stops between your hotel and the airport. Because of this, we missed breakfast on the last day. Had to pick us up 5 hours before flight time. I kinda blame Sunwing for that. It would be a better customer experience if they put people in 8-person mini vans direct to hotel instead of 60 seat buses that stop 5 times. It might be worth it to book your own hotel transfer if your time is important. All in all, riu itself was spectacular as usual and Sunwing was mediocre as usual.

Garza Blanca Resort and Spa Cancun: beautiful resort

only problem we had was lunch time , wanted buffet lunch just like breakfast ,room service to order food was very slow.enjoyed the rooms,not much choices in the breakfast,desert hardly any. no ice cream

Crown Paradise Golden: Great Resort great stay!

Great Resort, staff friendly and helpful, Room was fabulous and clean. Good central location. The food was not great, Buffet was always acceptable with ample choices but the specialty restaurants needed attention, restaurant staff were good but the food needs to be improved with a more genuine effort for better attention to detail and preparation. The adult only theme was another enjoyable feature.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: A unique resort

This resort is a very unique experience, lots to do, so much to see. Great for all ages and many food options to choose from. Don't believe the negative reviews. We have been there five times and would still return for the jungle like experience. Some things are not as nice as it use to be, staff shortages and line ups for the restaurants. Hanging out with the monkeys is an experience that you can't get at other resorts

Great value for money. Great food with many options. Lots of activities day and night. Service was fair not great but like Canada they probably don't have enough staff. Liquor is crappy but that is due to price point it is not a high end resort. Awesome for families. So for couples I would prob choose elsewhere with better booze and service but for groups and families its great and awesome value

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Save your money

The hotel was under construction the ENTIRE time, loud as all hell. Also very understaffed, never had towels, ONLY 1 BAR. Even though they advertise having multiple. Will not be back! 1 S/O to Tony!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful resort but lacking in nightlife

Resort was big, well kept, rooms spacious and great king size bed. Not beachfront but easily walkable. The beach (for Coba, as it is shared with sister resorts) is lacking. No food, no bathrooms, need water shoes to enter the ocean. The pools are great with swim up bars. Pretty quiet resort after 9pm.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Incredible resort. Great for resting, relaxing and beach activities!

Public areas and grounds are beautiful, numerous pools can accommodate every type of swim activity and the beach is perfect for swimming - just bring sunscreen and your bathing suit. Food is amazing - 6 different restaurants plus numerous buffets ensure that you find something that works for even the picky eater. Rooms are large and comfortable.

Occidental Tucancun: Great resort

This is a smaller hotel with amazing staff. At first glance, the lobby seems very plain. Some of the furniture and rooms are outdated but it was very clean. Staff were very helpful. The Italian restaurant doesn't require a reservation and was our favorite. The buffet at the pool level was really good as well.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fantastic Resort!

The Barcelo Riviera Maya is one of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed at. It was affordable and has so much to do within the resort. The property is massive. The decor was absolutely beautiful. Its was spotless, up to date and impeccably well maintained.They have mini golf, you could watch dolfins play all day, basket ball, tennis, pickle ball, kayak just to name a few - all free. Hotel staff were so nice and very kind. Food is good, I found they provided such a huge selection to fancy everyone's taste and was always available up into the late hours in the eve. The beach was well groomed and had wonderful sun and shade options. Pools were fun and there were many, swim up bars were great. I never felt crowded. My only critiques would be that because it's such a large place, I think they should provide an orientation of the resort rather than leaving it to us to seek out. Also, there should be more signs within the resort directing to wheee things are as we were lost for a frew days lol.. They could also provide more bar staff as they were the most busy. I would recommend this resort to everyone. If we visit Playa del Carmen again, we will be back.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Exceptional Food Selection & Presentation

The resort is in need of some updating. The rooms are spacious but tired. The bathtub was in need of repair and there were areas where paint was peeling on the windowsill. The linen should be replaced....no longer white, definitely not fluffy and very worn. Beach and pools excellent.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Great vacation

The resort was beautiful with wonderful friendly staff. We loved everything about it. Dealing with the staff at Trip Central was great too. They were very helpful and responsive when I had questions about our trip. I would go back to the resort and also book through Trip Central for future vacations.
