Occidental Cozumel: Great week had by all!

Stayed Jan 21-28. All rounded wonderful week. Beaches are limited due to hurricane erosion but found a beautiful spot at the end with lots of shade and sun options. Bar Service on the beach was great and enjoyed the daily pool aquifit with Axel. Treated ourselves to a Royal level package and really enjoyed the upgrade. Private dining room was especially delightful for breakfast as well as a couple of international dinners. Spoiled our group of 8 with a beautiful show in preparing bananas flam [... read more]bé and Mayan coffees. Reservations for the entire week at dinning rooms with Mediterranean being our favourite. Will definitely keep this resort on list of return options❤️

Occidental Cozumel: If you go upgrade to the Royal level

The resort is beautiful and clean with a very friendly staff. If you go upgrade to the Royal level. With it you get a larger room, in a private off the main path setting, your own hot tub pool and a restaurant that you can use for all three meals if you wish. Royal allows you to also book in all the other restaurants. We were greeted with a bottle of wine in our room and a bowl of fresh fruit. Restaurant meals were leisurely and not rushed and we were offered specialty desserts and coffees to top them off. Would definitely return.

Suites Alba: Big bad BUT

This hotel has its own sea access with a sea water pool. This is big plus in comparison to other hotels. Well there is big bad BUT. You can use this advantage only from 09.00 till 17.00. To gain access to the sea you need to descend the long steep stairs (about 16 floors). A lift is only for chosen ones. Before 09.00 and after 17.00 you can enjoy just a view of the bay & city. The walmart express is 25 min walk from hotel. The famous Quebrada diving show is 45 min walk away. Breakfast is a la carte 156 Pesos: glass tea (coffee), 2 fried eggs, scoop of tostitos with green hot sauce, small pack of jam & small pack of margarine with 2 toasted pieces of bread. Overnight you can enjoy barking of neighboring dogs. Fresh water pools are very busy with exited children well pass after midnight especially friday, saturday & sunday night.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Love the size of this resort.

All grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained. Resort is very clean. Beachfront is beautiful and sandy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice no food is at poolside which keeps birds and bugs away.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good good and bad

The facility is beautiful, the food amazing, the staff service terrific. We had a great time except for sleep.. there was a huge group from Madrid Spain 20 year olds four to a room and they were so noisy. Only one key per room So they would bang on the door when they got in at 4 am. NO SLEEP for older adults who go to bed after 10 pm. The room smelled of septic in the air, light bulbs burnt out, shower door didn’t close, toilet didn’t flush. Elevator broken all week. So maids came 3-4 [... read more] times a day for sheets, later towels, later beverages, etc etc. many interruptions when we wanted to rest because we didn’t sleep All night. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: It was lovely, but very spread out, thank goodness for the little golf carts that took us to the restaurants

Very nice clean, organized and Julian the events coordinator at the Lizzards pool was really fun and engaging!! Our room lacked hot water and ac but they quickly fixed it for us. Room Service was great!!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Terrific Value

We have been travelling to Mexico for 25 years and this was one of our best. For our 50th wedding anniversary, we brought our 3 kids, their husbands and wives and our 7 grandchildren, ages 12 to 18. One of our friends recommended the Grand Sirenis for children and they were right on target. The rooms are modern and bright. We were happy with the jetted tub and the shower. White tiled floors were easy to clean and house keeping kept them bright. The resort is huge. My wife's step counter reach [... read more]ed 13,000 one day. Well distributed so that each of the pools were available, but not over crowded. The two pools popular with our grandkids each had nets for volleyball and water polo. The pool nearest our room had an ice cream shop, that was well used. Buffet options were great. From breakfast to supper, we always had great choices. While there we were able to book both the Japanese, and the Steak House for all 15 of us. My wife and I also ate at the Mexican, the Italian and the Mediterranean, which we really enjoyed. The Lazy River was very popular with all of us. It became a place for everyone to relax. Our only wish would be for a better beach. It is not only rocky, but very small over all. Snorkeling was fun, but walking miles on the sand was not a thing. My wife and I went to the "secret" lagoon. It was too wavy that day but a very interesting site. During our 2 weeks there, the elevator for our second floor room died and was out of business for a couple of days. The elevator to the main buffet/reception, worked the first day and not after that. Staff were great. The concierge people were very helpful. Isaac was our guy and he was friendly and greeted us every time we passed. The bars and restaurants were well placed and we made good use of them all. A number of us liked to finish our swim day with cappuccinos at the coffee bar. Toward the end of our stay we had rain and that turned the tile floors into skating rinks. We would certainly recommend this resort to others.

Zel Cozumel: Planning on returning

Occidental Tucancun: Occidental Tucancun – Comfort and Value

The Occidental Tucancun (all-inclusive resort or room daily) is a medium size property in the middle of Hotel Zone, 25 minutes by bus outside Cancun city or from the airport. We recommend this resort which offers many of the usual amenities for a moderate cost. We're satisfied with clean sheets, good food, convenience and value. Seafood restaurant Claraboya is more elegant and open for breakfast and lunch and we usually enjoyed those meals there. Soup lovers like me will appreciate cream soup [... read more]s of mushroom, spinach, carrots, tomato, potato, which were nicely flavoured. Amazingly, the common mashed potatoes are to-die-for. Pretty decent fish is on the menu daily everywhere. Grouper is a high-protein fish that is low in cholesterol and contains significant levels of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Three a-la-carte dinner restaurants offer some good choices provided your selections are thoughtful and undemanding. For examples, in the seafood restaurant we liked the braised salmon steak; in the Italian we liked the flambéd shrimp cream pasta; and in the Mexican restaurant we relished salsa freshly made to taste at your table with mortar & pestle ¬¬- all excellent. Sadly, a warning, that in spite of all the aforementioned praise, all cooked dishes were oversalted. The bar scene in the hotel is happy, active, and intellectual (...just kidding!), but there's no live music to compete with the revelers' loudness. The Tucan Theatre was serendipitously excellent, offering seven different, entertaining shows: magic, mariachi, circus, Mexican folklore, Michael Jackson, Three Tenors and enthusiastic karaoke. After the show, there's a terrific singing artist playing latin music for listening or dancing. It’s fun to watch very authentic latin dancing, and to join in if one likes to dance. We do! My vacation advice: don't retire to your room if you're not yet gently full, sloshed and tired. Three fresh pools are available and one is for adults only. At this resort, if you're challenged by stairs, know that there are some to get around and down to the beach. The landscaping is beautiful and impeccably groomed. Finally, regarding staff inviting you to a “presentation”. Yes, annoying, distracting and time consuming when your time in the sun is limited. Ok, don’t get your bikini in a knot, just say no! But still I’m empathetic, because these workers are just trying to make a living by upselling you to their “club”. I’ve met people who have participated and survived and even purchased. Take it easy on your vacation.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: A little tired - food was great!

We enjoyed our time at this resort, but felt that the resort is a little tired, and the staff are not very knowledgeable due to being newly hired. The majority of the staff are brand new, due to covid. They were very nice, but needed lots of training! The beach area of the adults only resort was absolutely terrible - don't even go there. Full of seaweed (which they do not remove), and sand bags, trying to hold the buildings up. We went to the Beach of the sister hotel and it was much bett [... read more]er, but did have a strong sulphur smell. The rooms are okay! Our friend got locked in her toilet room for 1/2 hour while her husband and maintenance tried to get her out. She was also electrocuted by the makeup mirror in her room - not properly grounded. When she tried to speak to Management, they would not return her phone call, and finally someone talked to her and offered her a bottle of wine! She should have been offered a spa day at the minimum! I would recommend asking for a swim up room, in Building 1 or 3, as those pool areas get lots of sun. The Platinum swim up rooms were mostly in full shade, so quite cold. The main adult pool with swim up bar, was fun, but loud, and water a cesspool at the end of the day from no one going to the bathroom, instead using the pool as their personal toilet. The restaurants were good, but their pants only policy for men is a joke. They do not allow a nice pair of dress shorts, but you can wear your old track pants, or holey jeans. Does not make much sense. I would give this resort a 3 star review. They do not deserve to have a 4.5 star rating.

Canto Del Sol: one week at Canto Del Sol Puerto Vallarta

Older hotel but well maintained and very clean. We were booked in Villa section, which was very old and far from main area, no view. Second day we asked to change to main section, but had to pay extra for upgrade. We were happy with the room, and all went well. The staff at Canto Del Sol was excellent and couldn,t do enough for us. Dining areas were kept clean, and Covid protocols were in place. Food was tasty, and plenty of variety. Crown Paradise Golden: great resort but

Luna Palace: Quite a gem of a hotel

Very well maintained and quite lovely staff who always attempted to help in any way they could. Great room service. Shower water wasn't hot but adequate. As our stay didn't include meals, we ate at good nearby restaurants and do not know if we could have eaten here.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Always a happy place

Although the resort shows signs of aging, the food, staff and cleanliness are at a high standard. A great place for families to unite and bask in the sun! The nearby village makes for a great walk and provides a look into the Mexican culture.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Excellence riviera

We had a very lovely time at riviera excellence. Other than a not such great internet connection I can’t think of any problems. Fabulous food !! Wonderful service. And we lucked out with the weather. It didn’t rain til we left!! One word: spectacular

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Beautiful resort

We had an amazing time. The resort was clean, food was good & staff friendly. The only things I was disappointed with was it took us 2 hours for 11 of us to check in. There was another group that arrived at the same time. I would have thought Sunwing would have advised the hotel & there would have been adequate staff to accommodate but there wasn’t. It was also disappointing to discover we could only reserve from one restaurant (Japanese one) unless we were preferred. Each morning we [... read more] went on the app at 8:00 but that restaurant was booked. Thank goodness we did manage to get in our last day. We did manage to get into a couple others but went early. We discovered our departure flight was delayed by a couple hours but unfortunately was told the bus was picking us us at 6:30 am. It wasn’t til we were waiting in lobby twice that the bus was delayed by an hour each time. I would have thought they would have communicated. If the flight was delayed so would the bus. Would have been nice to sleep longer & able to have a relaxing breakfast.

Staff consistently work to keep the resort refreshed. The Staff, Food, Accommodation, Well-Known Liquor Brands/ Pools, and Restaurants were wonderful. The majority of guests are Canadian with many from Alberta & Vancouver. Very friendly staff who work hard to provide an excellent vacation. An abundance of lounges and beach umbrellas on the beach. An air mattress to place on lounges will provide comfort as some are saggy.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Beautiful, friendly resort

Very clean resort. Always beautiful weather. Staff is very friendly. Special shout out to Alan Omar and Rodrigo for their great service at breakfast at the Mexican restaurant and to Hugo at the omelet station. Our room in the Brisas beach club suite was very spacious with a beautiful view from the deck. The housekeeping staff did a great job every day.The Brisas beach club lounge was great and the staff were excellent.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: A beautiful place rich in culture, music and beauty

The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. There are staff on site to provide information or to assist you. Three main pool areas, depending upon your preference, these areas are constantly being cleaned. Main buffet has lots of selection, with 4 alternate restaurant options. It was clean, well stocked, the staff are friendly, courteous and respectful (all of them). This is a place where Mexican families come to visit Excaret Park, so you aren't 100% tourists... I also enjoyed this experi [... read more]ence. There is lots of wildlife, and the main beach area has fish swimming alongside you. The park is a short walk away, with a spectacular Mexican show, much to see and do. This country is rich in culture, music and beauty. If your an outdoors person, the unlimited park pass is recommended. From swimming with dolphins, seeing giant sea turtles, the aviary...you can't see it all in a day. Its not far from the airport. One of my best vacations.
