Hotel Playa Coco: Mix review

We loved the layout of the resort & the size of our room. The wait staff & bartenders were great. The food at times was great, other times ok, sometimes sad, but it is Cuba. Our 2 biggest complaints: a shortage of towels & bottled water in our room. Also: some were bit badly by the sand flies while most were left alone..odd who was bit while most not. The entertainment at the main pool was excessively loud, so we were happy to hang out at the "quiet pool" with a few others. We picked this resort [... read more] since it advertised snorkeling right off the beach. There is a tiny reef about 15 meters by 15 meters with lots of fish, but we did not find it until the 5th day. It is at the left end of the resort's beach. At low tide it would be a great place for families to go, reminding the kids not to stand on the coral. We had a good time, but would not return. If you go, bring a towel, toilet paper, your own snorkel stuff, your own golf balls for mini golf, "after bite", moderate expectations & you will be fine.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort, amazing people!

Just got back from a week vacation and it was perfect! The staff was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful! Ocean and pools were beautiful. The food was good and I really enjoyed the a la cart restaurants, the French bistro was my favorite! Resort was great for families especially.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great place

It very clean and the food is amazing the staff makes you feel like family. The water pressure is not the best but it still good to have showers in. The beach is beautiful one of the nices I have ever seen. I hope to go back in a couple of year I love it there

Melia Costa Rey: You won't be disappointed!

This resort is still in the works but well worth the visit. The staff are so friendly and go out of your way to help you in any way they can. Food was top notch and the buffet had something for everyone. The grounds are well maintained and public areas are always being cleaned. Beautiful beach. The pools temperatures were cool. Maybe our time of year ( Dec 24 to Dec 31 ). Make sure you take a sweater as it is windy and cool at night. No need for an electrical adapter all our 110V fit in there ou [... read more]tlets. Don't count on Wifi as it takes for ever to log on and you just keep losing your connection.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: ****AMAZING RESORT WITH AMAZING BEACH *****

This was my 2nd visit in 4 months to this resort. :-) The beach on my first visit was a little tricky because of the coral, but it has since been covered over and it is probably the best beach in Cuba now. I've been to Varadero, Holguin, Guardalavacca, Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco. BEST BEACH!!!! :-) The employees at this resort are the best I've seen... and I've been to 32 all inclusive resorts ...all over the place. The food is good, but I always tell people that if you can't live without your favorite condiment, such as Heinz ketchup for instance...just bring your own. I always bring a jar of peanut butter and a small bottle of Montreal Steak Spice! The fish is amazing, and everything on the buffet is good. Cubans don't use as much spice as we do, so you can actually taste the food! :-) I'm going back to this place in 3 months.... LOVE IT!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Resort..

The resort is really beautiful inside and it was really clean. The rooms were also very clean. The staff was very nice and very helpful when needed. I was really disappointed when it came to the food. I know its Cuba but I was hoping the food was going to be better.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Jardine del Ray, Melia

The only thing negative, was there were a lot of kids, which made it noisier than otherwise. Everything else was great. We did the catamaran trip. Would recommend it highly. People are very pleasant, as always. Room was clean. Resort was well kept.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Christmas holiday

We returned to this resort for a second time! Pool staff were very friendly. Beach was beautiful and Robert was very kind and friendly. Buffet was busy and tables stayed uncleared for a long time even though there weee people waiting. Suggest that there is a clean up and set up crew. Instead of bringing people drinks have drinks self serve.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Not a well managed resort

The hotel is good in general. The rooms are clean and the room cleaning service is good. The main problem is with the buffets (in reality almost one main buffet for several hundreds of guests). The management of the buffets and even restaurants is very poor. The supply of the food in the buffet is a disaster. There are only 20 food trays with almost 10 different food options (10 duplicated foods) with just a few main food items. The majority of the foods are side dishes. In most cases many of tr [... read more]ays are empty and takes time to be refilled. The trays are misplaced and don't match with the food explanation tags above them. If a tray is empty there is no guaranty to be replaced with the same food. There are a long cooking lineups at all times. When the cooks are out of supply they go personally to the kitchen at the back for supply leaving people to wait for them for several minutes. The cooking surface is very small for the demand and the cooks usually just use a half of the space and not utilized the half in full usually one or two orders at the time. This may be a policy to control the number of deliveries. The towel service is very bad and usually with no towel to supply. The punctuality is very weak among the staff. The towel service is supposed to start at 9 am but in most cases starts at 9:30 with no towel available (sometimes until afternoon) because the supply service truck is delayed. This is true about the customer service that when they open late they don't care about the line up and just do your own job in the office including chatting with colleagues for half an hour before provide service to the line.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good resort needs some improvements

Overall we had a good time here. The rooms were nice, the grounds were beautiful and the beach was out of this world. The water was amazing I had not seen anything like it before. You could see your feet in the middle of the ocean. I personally also enjoyed the entertainment, especially the live music in the terrace every night. The only thing that needs improvement in this resort is the management in some areas. The service we recieved at the bars, buffet and restaurants was great. But towel se [... read more]rvice was not good and the snack bar by the pool was very understaffed to the point where we had to wait over an hour for some fries we had ordered. And there was not always bottled water provided in our rooms. If these small things improve this would be a much better hotel. Overall no regrets staying here.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: not a clue

we didn't stay at this resort.It was hit by a hurricane earlier this year and wasn't fully operational,so we switched to melia jardine del rey.blah blah blah blah blah blah using up characters.still more neededokokokokokokokokokokokokokok

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Sercotel - sub par

Upon arrival Dec 22, toilets did not work in both rooms and after three requests to fix them, we were moved to other rooms. Then we experienced a flood from toilet in new room. The beach has been made way too wide now to enjoy the sound of the sea. Only one restaurant open. Only two bars and lobby bar is too small and has a line up at most times and too much bright lighting. No atmosphere. No internet cards available to guests for last four days of stay. Reception not very helpful. Only bright l [... read more]ight was customer service person, Lolita, who was a gem. Not much to do at this hotel. A couple of highlights - Christmas Eve dinner consisting of spit roasted turkey and I must say the best smoked salmon I've ever had. And the massage with Maria was very good. Other than that, I couldn't wait to get out of there as I my sister lost her iPad in the lobby bar and it was never returned - again, reception was no help - and I developed strep throat and had to wait until I returned to Toronto for treatment. Eight nights was too many. Will not travel again over Christmas as its way too overpriced, windy and the water cold both at beach and pool. One note: The people that work the hardest and are so underrated are the lobby cleaners and the gardeners. They are the ones who deserve your tips first.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Under renovations

We've been to this hotel previously. This time the hotel was under major renovations, which we were not aware of until after we booked. We called Sunwing and the rep denied that there were any renovations going on during this time. The hotel needed upgrades, so I am sure after the renovations it should look great. However, the lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms made it annoying at times. It would be nice if hotel management would do a checklist thru out the day to maintain the restrooms. [... read more] The service was great the the staff is very friendly. We were there for Christmas, they tried to put on a good spread, but you do not go to Cuba for the food. The entertainment staff seems to do the bare minimum. Although we paid a higher price during this time of year, we were very disappointed with the value. We also lost a day of sun due to the flight schedule. We arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning. Normally is should have been a later flight on the return.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Incredible resort

My family and I had a blast going on vacation there! The food was delicious and the staff were very kind and friendly. The best part was the beach. Our rooms were very well taken care of. I would really recommend this resort for a good family vacation!

Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing resort!

Our experience at this resort was amazing! It really is a Great family resort! It's Very clean and well taken care of! The food was delicious! The Staff very nice and friendly! I would really go back with my family, and I recommend it to anyone who is considering going on vacation in that part of the country.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Very nice

We stayed the week before Christmas. The resort was well kept and the rooms were very nice. The grounds and the pools were well maintained. The beach was beautiful!!! My only complaint is the food.

Melia Costa Rey: Pros and Cons

I'm only going to make comments about the hotel not the bad experience we had with Sunwing. The view of the ocean, beach and pool area from the lobby bar is incredible. The beach is very wide and relatively long (you can cross a road to enter another area of beach which is quite nice). During the week we were there, they had made the beach a great deal longer and had added a great deal more umbrellas so absolutely no problem getting a spot. The rooms were nice but definitely had some flaws.  [... read more]Our complaint was the low water pressure and the lack of hot water and no washcloths. Another couple had a very bad musty smell and another couple was on the 1st floor so they complained of a few ants. My advice is don't settle for something you're not happy with because it will affect the rest of your vacation. No need to be rude...just express your concern. The food was good....a regular buffet (any pre-made dishes tasted like pre-made dishes). I stuck with the fresh food (fruit, omelet, fish, salad, bbq meat...adding whatever spice I wanted...just like at home) and of course the desserts are always good. We attended 3 a la cartes and the Japanese was hands down the best one for food. The drinks varied depending on what bar you ordered at so sometimes they were good and sometimes not so good. In fact, you could order one type of drink at one bar and go to another bar and they will say they don't know what that is or we don't have that liquor....to me, not a biggy but some people would get frustrated. Once again, you're in Cuba...food, drinks, bed, etc... are not the same as back home so if you are going there for these items and not the beach, ocean, weather, relaxation or party....don't go! The pool area and beach were well kept but of course the grounds are still developing so don't expect lush grounds...maybe in a few years. The men at the beach in the morning to help you get chairs were awesome. They were very friendly and moved the chairs where you wanted them, brushed the sand off and even put my towel on the chair....how sweet is that!! The biggest negative that the hotel has no control of is the wind....and more wind!! We asked if this was unusual to have so much wind and the answer was NO. The only activity taking place was kite surfing...no catamaran, paddle boat, snorkeling, etc..This is a huge deterrent for us...most days it was even too windy to play volleyball because the wind would take the ball in a different direction. Now for improvements that the hotel can work on. For every 1 friendly worker, there were 6 grumpy ones. Some bartenders would totally ignore you, the waitresses were seldom around and if they were, they couldn't speak a word of English so ordering a drink was pretty difficult. There was no bar service at the beach or the pool. They were very skimpy on the water left in the rooms and we asked for an extra once and we were told we were only allowed one...this caused a visit to the front desk. If the hotel wants to be rated as a 4.5 or 5 star, they definitely need to improve some things and treat guests in a way that they feel like they're staying at a 5 star. Overall, I had a nice stay. I would recommend this hotel but I would make sure I mentioned all my concerns and if they still wanted to go then at least they know what to expect....their choice. My last comment to make....to save people a lot of money, a waste of a day, and pure disappointment....DO NOT GO SNORKELING ON A CATAMARAN...they tell you they will cancel it if it's too windy and trust me they don't. We had 3 foot waves and they told us it was okay to snorkel...most people didn't even go in the water. It was very unsafe and they didn't care....IT WAS AN AWFUL, EXPENSIVE MISTAKE!!!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: You can't go wrong here!!

The resort is very nice. The layout was very good so there was easy access to everything. The people were amazing as most Cubans are. The resort was not full which was a great benefit to us. There were always plenty of chairs around the pool and at the beach and there were never any real lines at the buffet. The food was great. The beach was very wide and the there were no issues with rocky bottoms or sharp shells. There was a machine brought in a while ago that took care of all of that. The rooms were always kept very clean. Yes, the beds were a little hard and the pillows a little flat, but who cares, it's just for a week. If it's that big of a deal, bring your own pillow. There is nothing to complain about at this resort and I would definitely go back again.

Tryp Cayo Coco: A beautiful resort

It is a large property with many coconut trees, nice for walks after meals. the beach is beautiful, you can choose: sections with waves or calm water. Choices of food are acceptable - limited fruits. Paid for coconuts from the gardener or at the beach. Rooms are not acceptable: ground floor room with broken back door, or no AC, or no window in the bathroom , or smell of mold, can be noisy from party guests. Be prepare or ask for far but quiet room.
