Melia Las Antillas: plus average resort

The location of the hotel is good, distance from the sea, about the right. building is clean but old. elevator need to be repaired. several times we walked to reach upper levels, while my wife is suffering from leg joint problem. all the people serving the hotel are very friendly. at reception, at bar, in restaurants, and buffet. the entertainment programs were very good. dancers were amazing.I personally enjoyed them. but I was sad about one thing, their socks were teared off. the dancers nee [... read more]d to have better and new cloths. drinks were good available any time. food in buffet had average quality, while the behavior of the servers were excellent. If you want to get more customer you need to invest on followings: 1- arrange slideshow about history and geography of Cuba. this could be an outdoor program. 2- arrange a program (class room) to teach people about food by getting help from a nutritionist. 3- arrange out door exercise. Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent

The meals were beyond excellent. Many people who had visited Cuba had told us that the food was mediocre, but this resort offered food beyond our expectations. Our accommodations were good. The beach was beautiful but you had to walk a little to the left or to the right to avoid the rocky part.

Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful resort, very nice staff!

The pool and grounds were very nice and Clean! The beach was a short walk away... One of the best beaches we ve ever been to, with even a bar hut to get drinks! First day on beach there was music... Having music the other days would have been great also! Thx for the great stay!

Melia Marina Varadero: Lovely resort, excellent vacation

While our flight times were less than ideal, arriving at the resort relieved a lot of stress. We were welcomed promptly and the service was fabulous. When we first got there, the machine for our room key didn't work but they handled it with grace and gave us a new room within 10 minutes. Everything was very clean, the rooms are beautiful and spacious. The beach isn't that far at all and they offer a lot of activities on the beach so its well worth going over the bridge. I highly recommend.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: We are still under the Cuban Charm!

We have been to Cuba many times... First time in the summer and to a Melia. We would like to go back to the same place. The staff was excellent, room spacious, clean and the food was very good with a lot of choices. The beach was spectacular and the pool area and garden simply beautiful and well maintained. The only thing that my husband wished that there was a straight flight from Ottawa.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent Resort

I went in mid-August 2016 with 2 friends and we had an excellent time. The resort was very clean and the staff were amazing with lots of activity going on. I would go back and highly recommend staying here.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Good Resort

Most beautiful beach I've ever seen!! Very clean. And quiet. Good service on the beach with someone always around to help pick up a chair or if you got hurt. Fun playing volleyball on the beach with the entertainment team who have so much energy! Pools were also very nice and clean. A lot of space to move around with equal amount of chairs. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. I love the bright colors! Comfortable sleeps. The food was okay. The grill was amazing. Nice hot meat off the grill with Cuban plates and salad. It was really good righr by the beach. It gets very busy though. When the entertainment staff helped by seating everyone it ran a lot faster. The snack bar was awesome. Put up with our late night cravings of pizza and beer. Very friendly and accommodating. Always felt comfortable. Never tried the restaurants. The bruffet was okay. Eggs in the morning and meat, rice and beans etc. for dinner. Nothing exciting but the staff cooking worked really hard so that we appreciated. The banana and crepes cooked in front of you was amazing! The waiters were so friendly and quickly knew what you liked to drink so each time they saw you they had it ready. The coffee was so good. Drinks were okay. Beer and rum which we thoroughly enjoyed! The shows were fun. They have a dancing competition with people from the crowd and that's hilarious. Stores, disco, gym, spa and bowling all really close by eachother and fun to have on the property, it was a lot of fun at the disco and bowling. The entertainment staff were all so great and friendly. Made sure you always were having a good time, whether dancing, talking, playing sports whatever. They were awesome! Bus to get to the hotel from airport was long about 1 hour 45 but the ride is nice because the your guide gives you some background on each town, I think you pass 3 towns. I thought my trip was great. My friends and I enjoyed it. It was fun for 3 girls to drink beer, relax and salsa! I am not sure what they have for kids so I am not sure I'd bring my kids but definately I would go back with a group of friends and that has a lot to do with the staff and the beaches!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: An Excellent Choice

Our trip was amazing! The resort was beautiful, clean, well -maintained with everything we hoped for and expected. The food was plentiful and offered a huge variety of choice both at the buffet as well as at the a la carte restaurants. The very best feature of this resort was the staff. Everyone from the gardeners to bartenders, recreation staff to chambermaids, all were warm, inviting, gracious, and a delight to get to know during our week stay. I can't wait to go back.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Rating 3 out of 5 stars

The Good: The staff of the resort were very nice and helpful - polite and professional. The beach was beautiful - crystal clear waters. The room and bed were comfortable and clean. The Not So Good: While I can see the grandeur of the resort from when it first opened (I was told some 15-17 years ago) it has not been maintained and shows as shabby and tired. We asked others about theirs and it seems that it is the norm. The water pressure in the shower appears to be an issue as it was just above a trickle and the toilets took some time to refill in between usage. While we are not pool bathers, I did peak at it and it seems not to be cleaned well...There appeared to have algae at the bottom in some parts. The buffet was below standard - there was no change in the daily menu, with some items being brought back the next day particularly at breakfast - I believe the reason was that there were only approximately 250 guests in the hotel so I assume they were trying to prevent waste - as well there was a roaming cat(s) in the buffet dining hall that expected to be fed from the table of guests. The Al a Carte restaurants were better but not stellar. Much more work is needed on the beach to make it cleaner as there were no signs that sweeps were done regularly to pick up leftover straws and plastic cups as well, some of the palapas needed repairs or complete replacement and in need of more of them and they could be spaced out better, as we were so close to one another we could reach out and touch the next person. The entertainment was ok. Overall we give this resort 3 stars out of 5.

Melia Varadero: First time in Cuba was Amazing trip

We had an all inclusive package which is great deal. Amazing place for family vacation and couples. Our room are neat and clean everyday, food are great and lot's of selection especially the desserts. The pool and beach are beautiful and clean. The staff are friendly and I love nightly entertainment. I can't wait to go back on this place.........

Melia Las Dunas: Very nice

Hotel room needs some maintenance e.g.: the bathroom needs a good scrubing. AC not working up to par, ironing board broken, curtain needs replacing and most unimportant the room smells. The room needs airing out.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Varadero Hotel Review

The grounds were well kept and the service was not bad. The rooms were clean, but the beds and the pillows need to be upgraded.The food was so-so. The best part of the trip was the beach. The water was warm and the sand was like sugar.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice

We did not have a great beginning or end to trip. No room that we booked when arrived and no private car to leave. Royal service was ok at best. Out butler tried to make it better. If your looking for a true ultra inclusive. This is not one. Ok for Cuba.

Melia Las Dunas: Vacation in Cuba

Resort was ok overall, but service was poor. Room was ok. Shower was broken when we arrived, water pressure was low. Not enough towels and soap/shampoo provided. When you call for extra towels or shampoo to guest service, they only bring it the next day.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Recent visit to Malia Jardine Del Rey

I found the ground and public areas were pretty basic. The food court didn't have an inviting ambiance Food was so so. We had to stand in line to get fish Mosquito were eating people alive Paid Internet service had very poor connection The rooms were nice and clean The swimming pools were very nice and big Service was good

Hotel Camino del Mar: Beautiful

This resort was amazing overall! Beds are hard though. the staff were always happy! Definitely would recommend to all! Water is crystal clear and sand bottom. Rooms are big and AC is nice and cold

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great hotel

Melia was a nice resort. Property very clean. Employees provide great services(Tipping recommended). Beach very rocky bring your beach shoe. Not much activities for kids. Minimal pool activities. Food bring your own spice.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Sol Cayo Santa Maria

Booked this resort in May and on July 9th arrived at the resort only to find out we were not booked at this resort. Got moved to Melia Cayo Santa Maria. Don't like paying out lots of money to have our vacation plans changed because the resort booked the S-Trip Graduate experience group there. The hotel was still under construction for the pipes to the bungalows and safety was definitely an issue there. Many of the students were complaining they had no water, the toilets would not  [... read more]flush and the showers did not work. We have friends that work at the resort and were so looking forward to spending time with them and couldn't as a result of not being booked at this resort.

Melia Las Antillas: Would go back and would recommend

For those of you not keen on knowing the details of my stay let me say that I throughly enjoyed my stay at Melia Las Antillas, will likely stay again and would recommend it to others. For those of you interested in more details... SERVICE: The service is good, particularity at the buffet and a la carte restaurants. I was impressed with the service in these areas. The service at the outdoor bars was okay, but nothing great. The service at the main indoor lobby bar was also mediocre. The se [... read more]rvice as the front desk was also okay, once again not great. I would've appreciated if the workers seemed a little happier. ROOMS: Our room was extremely clean and well taken care of. No issues with bugs or dirt of anything of that sort. Martha was great. I wouldn't say the rooms are dated, but a few updates wouldn't hurt...however, when I'm on vacation I don't worry about my room as long as it's comfortable. The AC works extremely well, so well in fact we had to turn it off at night, and considering we travelled in mid August a strong AC was appreciated. FOOD: I've been to Cuba before and stayed at a Melia that time as well, and the food at this hotel was much better. The buffet food was very good considering my expectations were low. There is a good selection of food, and if you eat seafood like my mother and I do you'll be pleased. If you don't...there's still a decent selection of items. For our a la carte dinners we went to Conuco and the Italian restaurant Both were good, but Conuco being outside in August was relatively painful. The mosquitos had a feast We should have thought about that before we booked though. The bbq area by the beach is good for a quick lunch if you don't want to go back to the buffet and leave the beach or if you're hungry at a time when the buffet isn't open. BEACH/POOL: Awesome. Lots of chairs at both locations (but we did go at off season). Both locations are well kept with absolutely no garbage or anything of that sort in sight. They play music in both areas but it isn't overbearing - perfect volume to relax to. The beach is gorgeous and is where we spent most of our time, you can paddle board or go on a catamaran free of charge, but we did always tip, both are a great experience. It's honestly picturesque. EXCURSIONS: We took the day trip into Havana - it's a must do. We booked with Sunwing when we arrived, it's 59 CUC. We took the double decker bus into downtown Varadero - also a must do. However...do NOT get on the bus if it's heading the opposite direction (like we did after being encouraged to do so by the driver). If you do you will be taken to every single hotel on the strip and stop at every one to see if there's passengers waiting, a 15 minute ride ending up taking 90 minutes. It was a nice tour, but completely unnecessary. It costs 5 CUC to ride it all day. SOME ISSUES: The lobby isn't air conditioned, nor is any other area in the hotel other than the restaurants and hotel rooms. This is an issue in the summer, and unfortunately we found ourselves going back to our room early to escape the heat. Bring bug spray. They seem to not be bad during the day but they make up for it at night. The coffee at the buffet is awful. Be sure to get your coffee from the main bar lobby. It's amazing! Other than that I have no complaints whatsoever. As I said earlier, my stay was great, I'd stay again and will recommend!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Wonderful resort!

One of the best resorts I have stayed at in Cuba! I've been to Varadero many times and Cayo Coco and this resort beat them all. Everything was perfect from the staff to the food to the grounds. I would definitely return! Leaving the resort wa ma easy and beautiful beaches all around.
