Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Fun and lots to do

Clean, energy, no lines for food or drinks, spacious, rooms large and well stocked with water and linens. Staff always helpful, and easy to talk too. Beach beautiful and pools clean, swim up bar awesome. Lots of umbrellas and lounge chairs.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Outstanding resort & staff!

Both my boyfriend & I have been to many resorts in Cuba & this was “hands down” the best resort we have been to! The resort is very clean, rooms large, beach huge, & food was absolutely great, especially the a la cartes! The best part of the resort though, was their staff!! Always smiling & helpful, kudos to all of you & the management team! We highly recommend this resort!!

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Great location

The Hotel is in a great location..but..it has seen better days. The resort is definitely showing its age. The staff overall is very friendly and helpful but very few speak English which can be difficult to get information. The cleanliness of the resort needs definate improvement. All the window need to be washed desperately. Coming down the stairs all you smelt were stinky dirty washrooms and the urinal was full to the top for days with no paper in either washroom. But if your in Varadero on a budget and want to be close to the beach and business section then Sunbeach would be a good choice..

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Great time, great people

I spent a week at this wonderful resort. It is 16+ which is amazing if you want a break from small children. The resort is small and everything is very convenient and close. The beach is absolutely amazing and breathtaking, beautiful white sand and turquoise water. The food isn't the greatest and it was the same everyday. The people where helpful and amazing, if your a single person like I was, try and find Charlie. He'll set ya right up with others that have traveled solo.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Excellent resort

The resort was very well maintained. The grounds were beautiful. The pool was clean. Food and service were great. Staff was friendly. Nightly music was very entertaining. Beach is amazing. You can walk both directions. Very safe.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Fabulous holiday

Beautiful resort, fantastic people. We had an amazing week. Weather was perfect. New Year’s Eve celebration was spectular. Unbelievable talent. Though the rooms were a little dated and not fancy, everything was fairly clean. Staff were pleasant and happy to help. The food was okay. Though the buffet was small, there was always something you could find to eat. The desserts were amazing.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Wonderful stay

This is the second time back to this resort and we were not disappointed. The grounds are always kept immaculate and the staff are helpful and friendly. We had to change to another room due to needing a tub vs shower and they were very accommodating. They are starting to do major reno on the buildings which will be refreshing. Sur mes 4 visites a cuba ,Janvier le 23 ,Mars le 24,Mai le 26,décembre le 10 cette année a été pleine de dépressions météo, front froid et autre qui nous ont donné des température froide sans soleil et beaucoup de pluie pendant ces 4 semaines, j espere que mes vacances de 2019 seront plus ensoleillée.SOL PALMERAS est un bon hotel,nous étions au bangalow 232 assez pres du lobbey pour y marcher,pres de la plage ,tres confortable plus spacieux qu une simple chambre . Un grand salon avec [... read more] des fenetres devant et derriere ce qui donne beaucoup de lumiere, le réfrigérateur dans l entrée n a jamais été rempli sauf a l arrivée, 2 systemes d air conditionné indépendant un au salon l autre plus moderne dans la chambre.La plage est longue ,propre,beaucoup d ombre et de chaises.Le buffet tres généreux beaucoup de choix pour tout les gout s et dietes mais répétitifs.Tres bon service d Humberto et Marie Thérese attentif souriant toujours de bonne humeur.A la piscine vous trouverez les nouveaux annimateurs qui sont Francais et pas du tout prétentieux,ils sont toujours pret pour jouer ou avoir de vos nouvelles du jour.Filles et garcons ils sont de jeunes entrepreneurs et je leurs souhaite une bonne année 2019.

Grand Memories Varadero: Extremely expensive and low quality

The hotel area is average, big restaurants, the pool is good, the beach is clean and beautiful. I think is the only good thing that We can write about this hotel. About the rest we can't say the same. Food is poor and horrible compared to Barcelo Solymar, a 3 stars hotel, way more affordable. The NY dinner was a big joke, the kids left hungry and the adults upset about the quality and quantity of food offered in one of the restaurants. For a 5 starts hotel, Grand Memories was a huge deception [... read more] for us and our group. They don't have staffs enough to handle the quantity of people they receive every day. The line on the buffets were always long because they had 1/2 cooks to prepare omelets for example. The 24 hours snack bar had 1 front person to take orders from 25/30 people. Some of the staffs were rude and some were really nice but far from a good service. The room was ok, at least was clean, but we had to upgrade when we arrived because the one we suppose to stay were horrible, old and FAR from everything. It is an absurd you pay more for a 5 starts hotel and when you arrive you are obligated to pay more in order to have a decent/habitable room. We were also completely decitisfied about the towels for the pool. If you pay for one week stay, you have to be able to keep your towel until the moment you leave the hotel. They ask for a deposit in order to give you towels for the last day. Nobody will steal towels, we paid for 7 days all inclusive trip, what we assume the towels are on the package. Anyways, it wasn't our first trip to Cuba, we knew how the resorts work, food and all the issues Cuba has but our frustration in pay way more for a hotel that is classified as a 5 starts and had a service of a 2 starts was pretty disappointed.

Melia Marina Varadero: Oldie but goodie

The hotel is old but it's in a great spot. The employees are good and friendly. The food is good for Cuba. New years eve had plentifully great food. The everyday food was the same but we always found something to eat.

Starfish Varadero: Under Construction

Every where you turned there was construction ( front lobby ,all fountains, main courtyard tiling and grouting ). They were having major sewage problems. The smell coming from main lobby was overpowering. To get to buffet and only 2 ala carte restaurants you had go down a new staircase that was being painted and welded together as we walked down it. The washrooms if working all had oval bases with tiny round seats on them. Interesting experience. We have been to cuba before and the food  [... read more]was repetetive but not bad. The weather and beach were great to have a family vacation. I will never return to this resort.

Melia Las Antillas: Great resort!

We enjoyed all aspects of this resort: great food, excellent pool, great entertainment, great service and nice room. We enjoyed the fact that they're weren't a lot of line ups at the resort. We always could find a spot at the pool or on the beach. All the hotel grounds were well maintained and the staff was excellent. The room (delux room) had a great layout, but is starting to show the signs of age (wear and tear), could use some new bedding as well. Club Tropical: third stay

This was our third visit to Tropical. We always enjoy the staff and returning guests. This time around, I must say, some Canadian travelers made it embarrassing to be a Canadian!! Drunks, fights, and lots of drama till 5 in the morning keeping the rest of us from sleeping!! We paid lots of money to be at this resort for Christmas and New Years, why is it that the staff fill big bags with grapes, apples and pears? If we could see them, my question is who are they hiding from? Because this  [... read more]resort has many returning guests, beach chairs are saved for tips and gifts! You might sit in the sand!! We graduated to chairs after our third stay! My son found a live worm in his plate!!!

Playa Vista Azul: Ocean Vista Azul-Good resort

My husband and I were very pleased by our experience staying at Ocean Vista Azul during the Christmas break.The rooms were spacious, and clean. The only complaint was that the sliding doors were not working properly, and hard to close or open. More than one bottle of water left in the fridge per day, per 24 hours would have been best, and was an inconvenience to ask for more everyday. In our personal opinion, the food was good at the buffet, and the restaurants. We also liked the bbq offered [... read more] daily at the beach bar. The staff made an extra special effort to make Christmas Eve a real feast. The drinks were excellent and standard of spirits excellent. More greens would have been welcome but we understand Cuba might not be able to provide such things especially during the winter months. The beaches, and the ocean were beautiful and the nice part is there were no annoying people trying to sell excursions, and goods. No rocks on most of the beach. Lots of sunbeds available. Lovely sand. Though we don't vacation for pool life the pools seemed excellent and had activities offered. The staff was excellent especially Yamilla, Victor, and the other woman who work at the beach bar by the big beach, and Annette in the buffet area. Didiana was extremely helpful to us at reception along with other staff member. Bar servers in general did a great job and we spent a lot of time enjoying the lobby bar with daily entertainment offered every evening. We also enjoy the evening spectacles. All together it was a good experience and we will definitely recommend friends and hope to return. Other guests we spoke with were not as pleased as us, but it all depends on what you are looking for...everyone has different tastes. An excursion into Varadero on afternoon was enjoyable, safe, and easy. We are of the opinion that people should tip more as all the Cubans are extremely low paid and the tip is an act of mercy to help them live a little better.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Great family vacation

We had a great vacation at Iberostar Tainos. The beach is perfect for children. The ocean is truly unbelievable here. I don’t usually care for food in Cuba, but the food here was really good. The hotel stuff are very friendly and accommodating. The only negative I have to say is that the hotel is dated and needs some updating.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Overall Solid Resort

Food: was overall quite good, especially compared to what I was warned about "bad food in all of Cuba". The food wasn't totally amazing, but I would rate it between good and very good, with great variety. Bars: great assortment of quality liquors and overall good drinks. Beach: great, no complaints. Rooms: between fine and good (non-Royal side). Shower water didn't get hot enough ever, was the biggest problem. A/C adjuster didn't work the greatest. Card slot to power the room  [... read more]wouldn't work sometimes. Beds decent. Overall fine. Service: decent. Lost pool towel and had to talk to about 4 different parties to get replacements, after which I was threatened to be charged $30 if I lost it again. Money exhange booth workers seemed to take 30 minute breaks wayyyy too often. Overall service was sometimes lackadaiscal at bars, restaurants, etc, but overall acceptable. Entertainment: Ok - good enough for families and adults. For single young adults, you'll generally want to find your thrills elsewhere. Overall: our goal was to have a place with decent room, food, and beach (a good home base for exploring). It served it's purpose fine. Next time, may try Starfish in downdown Veradero to minimize cabs at night, if beach is still as good.

Blau Varadero: Family feeling.

We got impeccable friendly service. It felt like extended family. The hotel was very clean, the staff were always smiling and ready to help you any way they could. We enjoyed our stay very much and we look forward to returning again this Christmas 2019.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Terrible experience ever

I have been earlier in this hotel and was far better than this time. It was horrible place: no water in toilet, no water pressure, only one light in room, one electric socket working in entire room, rusty bath, no balcony, not to mention room maid wasn’t coming for 3 first days...list is really long. Not to mention I paid this vacation 1475$ Please don’t let this terrible experience repeat to anyone else.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not worth the money.

Pools - 3 of them, one of which has a pool bar. They are good and clean. Decent amount of space for everyone and good service at all of them. The issue I had with them was the depth. 1.10m is the deepest they ever go. I just can’t enjoy pool swimming like that. Staff About 70% of them were nice and friendly. Restaurants/Food  [... read more] Now I really enjoyed the food in Cuba my first time there (at a different resort). This one had rather bland food. Very amateur and unseasoned food. But well, it was eatable and there were much worst things than food. The restaurants for example. First of all it took HOURS to get reservations at the restos. No kidding, we had to stand in line, while ONE FREAKING WOMAN, with a computer took 15-20mins per person/groups. And she was miserable, unfriendly, and slow. Now the restos themselves, require you to have a reservation to get in, which makes sense if they were full. But there were 5 empty tables beside us and I asked; even if half the place was empty, they would not have let us in if we didn’t have a dumbass reservation. Amenities Alright, now the juicy stuff. This place claims to be a 4.5 sometimes 5 star Resort. MY F#$&*&G A$$! The bathrooms stalls had no lock on them, the eating areas had very uncomfortable chairs and our room was just a total disaster. The safe did not work, the shower head had no hanging nozzle, the balcony door handle was broken, the fan knob was broken and the bed sheets were damp. We requested to change rooms and while the manager told us it was a done deal and to come bAck the next day to confirm the change, we came back and were told we weren’t on the list. So we had to wait another day to change. The next room was fine but with one major problem: the door. The mechanism for cards was broken or something and we could never get in. We always had to go back to reception and call a mechanic to come fix the thing and let us in. And by the way, each time, they were doing some half assed bullshit on the door instead if actually fixing it which is why the fix was temporary and we always had to go back to call them again. Absolutely ridiculous. Beach/bar Excellent. Fantastic sea, sand and sun. Short walk from resort centre. Beach bar was great. Bar tenders around the whole resort were great. This is my first time writing a review because I felt I owed it to other travelers. We paid 2k and this just wasn’t worth it. In no way is this a 4.5 star let alone 5. And don’t give me any bs about it being cuba and their rating being lower than anywhere else. If that’s the case, 1, dont pretend to be 4.5 stars when you’re no better than a 3. And 2, dont charge people like you’re a luxury resort when the experience you provide feels more like average. There.
