This is a nice resort, good beach, clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The food is typical of an all-inclusive, you won't go hungry but don't expect fine dining. You don't need to make reservations for the a la cartes (except for the Japanese) which I initially thought was a good idea, however in hind site the reservation system is a better option. In my opinion, waiting in a line up during the day to make your reservation is far better than waiting in a huge line up later in the evening[... read more] when you are ready for dinner.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Excellent resort!
New. Clean. Good service. Excellent food: the brazilian restaurant was among my best eating experience in 20 years traveling down south. The beach was slightly sub-par in comparison with the beach facing other hotel due to strong waves. Note that we took the Diamond club, which allowed to reserve the restaurants and eat breakfast by the beach.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Trip of a lifetime
The resort was absolutely perfect- it is well kept and beautiful! There are bars everywhere and bathrooms too! The rooms are nice and modern but still have a Caribbean flare to them. We were celebrating our wedding and could not have asked for a better place!
We had traveled to the Majestic Colonial on April 15th. First impression, the resort is very well kept and grounds are clean. I would have to agree with other comments that the front desk is not overly friendly. English is not well spoken here as others say it is but there was a lot of workers that do not at all.
I would say half of the employees are generally pleasant, but others move at a snails pace (slower than island time).
As for accommodations, the rooms are nice but if you are travell[... read more]ing with a family, you will find it a bit difficult. The bathroom areas are poorly designed. You have a toilet room which is the size of the toilet room on a plane (no exaggeration at all!) the door is glass and frosted, no privacy for anyone. The shower is very large, they could have reconfigured some space to allow for a larger toilet space. There is a tub out in the open and in the open area of the main room/sink area. Just poor design to shower, change and use bathroom if your with all the family around.
Food: Not bad, you definitely will not starve! My suggestion, go to the Rodeo Restaurant for Breakfast/Lunch buffet and if you need to, dinner as well. The supreme buffet (main buffet) is not great. POOR service. The servers run around everywhere but nothing gets done or drinks served. I even had food dropped on me from behind from a server cleaning another table and with no apology.
The servers at the Rodeo area (Juan Louis, Carlos, Melvin & Rodriguez) are awesome! They actually remember you and serve you as if you were family!
We tried the Rodeo Steakhouse and also the Seafood House (same area split in 2) food was great just ask for 2 entrees.
Japanese was great as well and fun!
Beach: Very good, not perfect but they try. Ocean is very wavy and can get tiresome.
What we did find annoying is that there is someone always trying to sell you something. It becomes a headache after 2 days. Even the Beach merchants will leave you alone quicker than the resort merchants.
Overall, nice place but we will not be repeat visitors of the DR.
We find Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean must better and less sales tactics.
We would recommend this hotel but it is just not our thing.

Riu Republica: Relaxing Vacation
We just got back from a friends vacation at the RIU Republica. We thought the resort was very good. We were a little skeptical after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, but our concerns were put to rest immediately after checking in. The staff were all very friendly and worked so hard. The grounds were immaculate, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. I didn't have a problem with the food, there is more than enough variety to choose from, but if you are a foodie this is probably not th[... read more]e place for you. We must have stayed at the ideal time (April 15 - 22) because it was very quiet (not a lot of wild young adults). The pools are kept very clean and were a good temperature. You can walk for miles along the beach, and there are no rocks or even shells, you can walk barefoot without a problem.
We never had a problem finding a chair at the pool or the beach.
We would certainly return to this hotel.

Ocean El Faro: High-ish end, with high pressure tactics
Our time there with family was great and memorable. Our room was fantastic, probably one of the best rooms we've ever had. The service staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive. The buffet was very good, the a la-carts were surprisingly poorly executed. However, the real negatives were mostly centered around the staff attempting to push you to use other pay services, take expeditions, and the insistent harassment to sit down and get a high-pressure sales pitch to become a member of H10 / W[... read more]orld vacations (whatever it was). Ocean El Faro promotes themselves as a 5-star experience (the stars are even in their logo)... however, this experience spoiled much of our "relaxation" as you couldn't sit still without someone approaching you - and they weren't taking NO as an answer. OH - and they are constantly wanting you to drink your face off! Most likely so you'll bend on the hard sell stuff. As we said to all these people - "we know where you are, and we will find you if we want X".
In short - we had a great time, but would never return. Also, I wouldn't even expect this level of harassment at a 3-star... so they need to correct that if they want to convey themselves as a professional operation.
The news of the casino scam that same week in the same area, with the same game at what was called a casino here (which we played for all of a few minutes a night before) really got our backs up too. Although, I'm not saying they were hustling - but it felt possible. Weird vibe.
One last thing - I had attempted to contact our Tripcentral agent a number of times leading up to our departure (over the course of a couple months), attempting to pay for a surprise add-on for my Wife as we were celebrating her 50th while there... I was very surprised none of my email messages were returned. Maybe someone can address why this was the case? It's like the agent wasn't getting them - but yet it was her direct email address.
Thank you.

Ocean El Faro: Meh
Traveled here with my husband and 2 kids (6 & 8) mid April 2019. The resort MAY be a 5 star in a year or so but it isn't there yet. There is a lot that is yet to be finished and it is obvious some of the construction was rushed. Our shower is just one example of this. The water didn't drain quickly enough, even for a quick shower, and since the lip of he shower wasn't high enough it flooded the bathroom! Every time we showered! We put a rolled up hand towel in front of the door to slow it down b[... read more]ut there was no stopping it.
The workers they have work hard, but they don't have enough people on staff yet. The servers at the buffet and snack bar are run off their feet but can't keep up. Plates pile up on the table and drinks don't get refilled. This is not due to lack of effort by the employees, but the lack of sufficient employees.
Also if you are a beach person don't even consider this place. The beach is awful - and is not something they will be able to fix.
I would say pass on this resort this year and check the reviews again next year. It could be a great resort by then.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Wonderful wedding
The Majestic Elegance was an outstanding location for our daughter's wedding - spectacular setting, wonderful staff - everything was perfect. The resort is beautifully maintained, the food is excellent, and bar staff were superb. Our wedding planner couldn't have done more to make this a perfect event. We are all planning to return as soon as we can.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Endless Pools
The pools go on and on, and Mirage supplied lots of toys to float away the day. From early morning to late afternoon, in the pool, floating, treading water, swimming or in the warm ocean. The bali beds had curtains so you could protect yourself from the hot sunburning sun. Of course there was plenty of beds, plenty of lounges, plenty of towels and of course waiter service for your drinks.
Do you want a Nutella crepe with banana or apples and caramel for breakfast, lunch or dinner, it is there.[... read more]
Oh the drink of the resort is called the Majestic of course.
Be patient you are in no rush, you are on holiday time, so your drinks will come.
The Dominican night with music, a great barbecue and the Circus night were great. The courtyard at night was warm and breezy so you could enjoy music and dancing. The activity department worked very hard, with long hours.
There was a milkshake shop and a sports bar, unlimited locations to pick up food and cold drinks any time of the day and night.
I had a 2 storey unit where my daughter and enjoyed star gazing and a rosy soak in the great big jacuzzi.
Food well there was plenty of that, as it was Easter of course there was plenty of fish.
I really enjoyed the open restaurant at the sea open for all 3 meals, where you could cool off and enjoy the ocean.
Well next year will come !!!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: GREAT TIME!
Everything was really nice about the rooms and the hotel. Mannuel was very accommodating and polite at check in. The grounds were beautiful and the beach was never ending....just beautiful! The food was very good, lots to choose from and the waitresses were attentive. The one thing that was disappointing for my husband was that there was no RYE WHISKEY to be had anywhere on the resort, unless you paid for it. Canadians LOVE their RYE!! As far as their entertainment goes it was okay. The sh[... read more]ows at the village start at 10:30. The entertainment team too a little too long every time to set up their entertainment which kind of deflated the mood. Some of the entertainment staff have to realize that we are on holidays because a few times they were very rude to some of the tourists. We witnessed it on a few occasions and people around us noticed it too. Other than that, this was a beautiful resort and we had a lot of fun and met some great people :-)

Riu Republica: 3.5 to 4 star resort
Overall this was a nice resort; however given it was listed as a 5 star, we were expecting more. I've done a lot of travelling to Dominican as well as other places down south such as Mexico and Jamaica and the 4 stars I've stayed at were nicer than this 5 star. The resort felt quite small and although there were daily activities, they weren't listed anywhere so you only knew about them if you happened upon them. I was also surprised room service was not an option as any other resort I've stayed [... read more]at had this option.
Originally our room was on the party side of the resort near the bar and we were not able to sleep our first night with the music and drunk people yelling down the halls at 3am. We asked to be moved to the quieter side of the resort and then we had a much better time. We very much appreciated their accommodation of this request.
The service was excellent. Every staff member definitely cares you enjoy your stay and they go above and beyond.
The food was pretty good but it was the same thing served for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day in the main buffets. Because some of the specialty restaurants were buffet style, there weren't many actually a la cartes to choose from.
On the plus side the beach was beautiful, the pools were great, there were always lawn chairs to choose from, the resort was very clean and the rooms were well maintained.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Paradise!
The Majestic Elegance Resort in Punta Cana was fabulous! The setting is idyllic, positioned on the beautiful oceanfront beaches, with immaculately maintained grounds and gardens. There is a very nice spa offering a variety of pampering treatments. The well equipped gym is clean and very useful to help burn off some calories after indulging at the buffet, or one of the many restaurants. There is an extensive range of food choices available to satisfy every taste. Everything we tried was delicious[... read more]!
The buildings of the resort are clean, well maintained, and architecturally interesting, allowing the ocean breezes to blow through.
I highly recommend this resort.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great Resort
The grounds were very well kept and we enjoyed a beautiful view of the ocean from our room and balcony. The beach offered lots of shade or sun depending on what you were looking for. I appreciated that it was a quieter resort (being an adult only) and if we wanted a more lively environment, we were minutes from the sister resort - Barcelo Palace which offered great evening entertainment.
I loved the open air concept at the resort and enjoyed the constant breeze from the ocean, which made it[... read more] so comfortable to be outside - even though it was 29 degrees each day!
The only complaint, is that the rooms were somewhat dated - they need a face-lift (particularly the bathroom shower/toilet area)

Ocean El Faro: Lots of Positives, a few negatives
We recently stayed for 7 nights with extended family. Flights and transfers were flawless. The lobby is breathtaking- we’ve never seen anything like it! Main resort boulevard is charming and lined with restaurants. Food at buffets was incredible but not as much at a la Carte restaurants - go for service and ambiance only! Big thank you to steakhouse staff for arranging a birthday cake for my niece. They went above and beyond to make her birthday special.
We loved the feeling of space and pri[... read more]vacy throughout the resort. Lots of different areas to relax, and the designer has done incredible job throughout. The trolley that wandered thru resort was awesome- convenient and great to get back to beach or lobby.
Our room - wow! We had oceanfront in building 5. Absolutely 5 stars. Our housekeepers were top notch- Elena, you were wonderful!
The negatives - H10 staff hounding you to attend timeshare meetings. This really disappointed us and we were surprised management was okay with these sales tactics - low class in our opinion. The other negative is how much servers pushed non-stop refills of alcoholic drinks- the bartenders looked at you strangely and made comments if you ordered non-alcoholic drinks. Again, a bit ‘classless’ in our humble opinion. We wondered why they seemed to want everyone inebriated...however, all other staff were amazing, very polite and professional.
Beach was empty which was heaven. Very windy so not great for swimming. Overall we would recommend this resort but once is enough for us- H10 staff turned us off from returning again. I highly recommend any future visitors to firmly say no thanks or simply tip the guy to leave them alone!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great family resort
Very clean resort, felt very secure, and lots of family activities.
Shows were amazing! Entertainment staff were very good with the kids.
Down fall was the beach and ocean water, lots of debris from ocean plants. Also hard to get a shaded spot as people would block loungers with towels all day.

Ocean El Faro: Great resort - still a few bugs to work on
The resort is beautiful. The main lobby is stunning. The food in the buffet, the snack bar and the beach restaurant is amazing! So much variety and great quality. The food in the restaurants was disappointing. For example I had the eggplant parmesan at the Italian restaurant and it didn't have parmesan on it! Despite the fact that the buffet had a full parmesan wheel! The pools are great and the lazy river is awesome. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The only negative is the hard sell to [... read more]buy some stupid hotel pass or go on an off resort excursion. They don't take no for an answer until you get irritated or just walk away.
We had a problem with our room, we reserved 2 beds and only got one. They moved us to a bigger room but the bathroom ceiling was leaking and smelled so we had to move again. They were really good about accommodating us but it did take a long time. All the rooms are really nice and we'll furnished. We had the only room in the whole resort that didn't have a swinging basket chair.
The beach was not great but mostly because low tide was basically from 11am to 3pm so prime time. The beach itself was nice but for swimming there were lots of rocks in the water that you couldn't see because there was a constant wind and rough surf. There was also a lot of weeds washing up on shore but they were working all day every day trying to clean it up. By the end of the week they had got most of it but it was and endless battle. At high tide the swimming was great and the surf was fun.
There is a lagoon to swim in that is sheltered and super calm and beautiful. Unfortunately it isn't set up yet so there are no chairs or umbrellas and no services. It was a bit of a walk so not lots of people which was nice. The snorkeling was ok but nothing too special. I was disappointed that they didn't have any masks and snorkels available even though they said they would. The lagoon was beautiful but looks onto all the construction.
Overall we had a great vacation. Just need to fix a few things
