Muthu Colonial Hotel: Delightful Resort with Character

The hotel is one of the oldest on Cayo Coco and therefore has a few items that need repair. There was a group of carpenters constantly fixing and upgrading the buildings. The rooms are clean and roomy. As always in Cuba, the water supply wasn't consistent but we were able to shower every day. The staff were wonderful and accommodating and we did some of the best excursions in our many travels.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Excellent Vacation with an Unfortunate End

The resort is smaller than others I have been to in Cuba but that just made it more quaint. The rooms were clean, the staff are all awesome for the most part, the facilities well maintained and the food was very good. I had an accident an hour before the bus came to take us to the airport. The luggage room had a large drop as you walk in with no warning signs. The sun at the end of the day made the glass doors have a glare on them so hard to see. I went to step into the room and dropped a [... read more]nd rolled my ankle. It immediately started to swell and within minutes I could not walk on it. I went to the front desk to report the incident and they sent me to customer service who did not speak English and were of no help. 4 days later I am still limping, swollen and bruised with an x-ray that shows bone flakes. It will be 6 weeks until it is hopefully healed. Airport staff were excellent and had a wheelchair for me upon my arrival and assisted me to the plane when time to board. I bumped into Jorge the Transat rep at the airport among the chaos of check in. I let him know and it seemed an inconvenience to him but he said he would write a report. I'm not sure who I should follow up with on this, but I would like to see them put a warning sign on the door and possibly add another step in so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: very much at home here

we have been to your resort a number of time and keep coming back because the staff,from the check-in desk to everyone else treats their guests as if we were family. The beach is fantastic as well as the pool area, very clean. The food in the dining room is well presented and the dining room staff treat you well.

Hotel Playa Coco: 4 TH time a charm.

Yes there is construction going on at the resort but it never bothered us. The food and drinks were great. All staff very friendly and helpful. We really have no complaints, we were looking for total relaxation and good weather and that is exactly what we got. Thanks again to all at Hotel Playa Cayo Coco. Jan & Murray B.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: One of best beaches in carribean

We just returned from the Pestana and were very satisfied. The highlights can be summarized as follows: The beach in this part of the island is now about 150 feet wide, even at high tide. It's really one of the best beaches in the carribean that we have been to. The public area washrooms are always clean and always have toilet paper. My wife and I were amazed with the speed he worked a busy lobby one night. The food is good, but not great. The fried chicken at the buffet and the Pestana burger at the snack bar were the highlights. The buffet would really benefit from adding a pasta bar like many other resorts have. Hotel Camino del Mar: Rustic Retreat in Cuba

The staff of this resort were simply incredible; very friendly and anxious to solve any problem. The infrastructure itself however, was in sore need of refurbishment, painting and repair. The room was clean and everything worked. I did not like the insecticide fumigation performed most mornings at 6 am. and occasionally during dinner hour. It would have been nice to receive prior notification as I can understand the need for the fumigation. Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great time with a few issues

We are a couple who stayed at the hotel during the week of December 5th to 11th. We had a good time and found the hotel beautiful however there were a few things which were not so good. First the room was very nice and modern however there is a seethrough window from bedroom to bathroom so you feel like you dont have privacy. If you are with a significant other its not so bad but we would have preferred the bathroom to be closed off completely. The pool area is very nice and clean. The beach area is also a downside since there is not much of a beach part its mostly a boardwalk due to corrals in that area. It was very different from other hotels we are used to in Cuba. We went a few times to Playa Pilar beach which was nice but gets costly after a while. Its 5 pesos per person to go and comr back and the chair is 2 pesos. Overall we had a nice experience at the hotel however we would prefer a bigger beach part. The food and service was very good at the hotel.

Melia Costa Rey: Great vacation

Overall resort is great, rooms, pools, beach and food are all very Good. I would recommend this to anyone looking to travel to Cayo Coco Cuba. If you like to get a workout in while you are away, the gym is also pretty good. Beach is awesome!!!!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Amazing resort

I have to say we were extremely pleased with everything. The beach of course was breathe taking. The rooms and grounds were very clean. We stayed in bungalow 6 and was close to everything. Was the perfect size Staff was always smiling and very helpful. I'm picky with food and from past experiences found Cuba food to be bland but here I always found something and was very tasty. Hotel Mojito: Had a wonderful time

Was there for a week with my girlfriend and my daughter, we had "superior" rooms, 2216 and 2218, top floor with balcony and lovely view of palm trees. Could hear the ocean in the background. The adult pool and the beach were our two favourite places, the pool steps from our room, the beach a 5 min walk along boardwalks, quite fascinating. The food shack at the beach is great for fries and burgers. The beach itself is quite small at high tide but still wonderful. Fresh bread, eggs, omelets, pancakes, fruit, fresh fruit drinks blended to choice, yoghurts, etc. There is a cute little mini-mall a 10 min stroll away. Leave the front entrance and hang a right, you'll see it on the left at the first intersection. On the top floor beside a really nice souvenir shop is a money exchange. Go on a weekday although it's open 7 days per week. Exchange rate is better on a weekday. Hire a Chevy and the taxi driver will take you to Lenny's Bar, a quaint little place about 20 minutes away, off the beaten track, for excellent lobster (25$ US) We went on the "Cuba: Sugar, Cigar & Rum" tour, $75 US per person, money well spent. First a boat ride through the mangroves, then a stop at a pretty bar for authentic pina coladas and some salsa music, a horse and buggy ride through Moron (fascinating), and then BEST OF ALL a 20 min train ride to a sugar plantation. If you're lucky, like we were, maybe you'll be allowed to sit up front with the conductors in the locomotive?! It was amazing. Then lunch at the sugar plantation, back into the bus for a look at the crocodile farm. A full fun-packed day, back in time for a quick dip and dinner.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Tired, seen better days

Hotel has seen better days. Tired, need repairs, 1/3 rooms are closed. Food is poor quality fit the price. No plates for meals, unless you are there when it opens. Same for food selection. Beach not been restored since the hurricane, lack of chairs, towels.

Hotel Vigia: Friendly resort

The resort as a whole is very nice. The staff are amazing, they are both friendly and helpful. This includes front desk, bars, housekeeping, gardeners, buffet staff and entertainment. The rooms were a really good size with lots of drawer space. You also had self controlled air condioning with controls that work. The visual effect of the resort is very relaxing and beautifully kept. The night time entertainment is really good. Lovely long clean beach with lots of chairs. The only thing mi [... read more]ssing from the beach area is a washroom. The other negative is the the beach barbecue does not serve fish, one of the things imcome down for. Also the buffet does not have enough variety. It's like you end up with the same meal every night (I was disappointed).

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good resort

When we where there Nov.14 to 22nd most of the beach was gone and water so dirty from pumping new sand to the beach. We had no access to the next resort.I hope everything is back to normal and I can recommend this resort to the another people.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Excellent.... one more time

We liked this hotel the first time (2 years ago) and we decided to go there once more. Because of Fidel's death the Christmas decoration were temporary removed and there was no music neither night shows. This did not bother us because we were there to relax and get some rest. The beach has been totally redone and expanded. No more corail... great! The foods were like the last time... excellent and the service perfect. This destination will be on our list again.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Way too good of a time!

Everything was amazing! The second we drove up I was blown away by how beautiful and welcoming the lobby was! Everyone was so eager to welcome and help! Our luggage was carefully escorted to our room, which was beautiful and clean! Melia Cayo Coco: Bad Experience for us. Not Recommended for Active & Foodie People.

Booked Grand Premium Lagoon View Room for me and my wife. Week of 9 days mourning. Lagoon: Dirty and has gutter/ sewerage smell. Room: Clean but air-conditioner isn't powerful enough. Bidet in washroom is nice touch. On arrival there was a cheap rum and wine in room. Pool / Beach: 1 Clean Pool, but beach had sea weeds everywhere. Buffet: Worst food and service ever experienced. Unflavored, Cold and sometime food was served half cooked. Restaurant: 3 Restaurants, ambiance is good  [... read more]for all but food quality & option as follows. Cuban:Good, Italiano:Worst & International:Okay) Beverages: Local soft drinks were okay, Beer was low quality, if you want different . Havana Rum is good Activities: Archery, Shooting & Pool volleyball were only interesting activities. There was rum tasting event where same local Havana Rum is provided. Music: No music or similar activity as mourning period. Service: Except room cleaning & activities above, rest all services in resort were based on tips. Not Recommendation for many reasons: 1. If you want to do some activity than lying entire day blocking beach chair. 2. Buy your internet. 3. Buy massage / spa service. 4. Buy beer if you want different than local Crystal Beer. 5. If you are vegetarian. 6. Cheese has odd taste, Cooks prepare bad Italian food. 7. CUC is expensive than USD 8. During country 9 day mourning period, resort didn't do any effort make our stay interesting. I didn't go to mourn but fun. Sad place to be, never returning back.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Good vacation

This was our 7th time in Tryp Hotel Cayo Coco and we like it very much. The hotel is a perfect setting. Big swimming pool, buffet restaurant and many a la Carte restaurants. We know lot of people there so we always looking forward to see them again. Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Beach,poor entertainment

Huge Beach,lots of sunshades too bad sunbeds are hard plastic.Rooms nice and clean.Food was OK.We tried only Italian a la carte restaurant pretty good.Buffet and beach buffet where clean.It's 1 year old so grounds palm trees are young.Service everywhere in this resort very good.Except beach volleyball entertainment very poor pprobably conditioned by former leader's funeral.Overall a nice 1 week vacation.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great resort

This is the best Memories I have been to. Staff is amazing. Beach is long wide and wonderful. Can not comment on entertainment as I was there during the mourning period. Hotel is a short ride from the airport. Only complaint is the gym does not open until 9.

Melia Cayo Coco: Quiet, Clean and Rejuvenating

This resort is one that gets many repeat customers. If you are looking for quiet, clean and comfortable this is it. The staff are awesome, the food is really good, the beach is very nice. They are always updating this resort albeit slowly. Improvements to all areas from rooms to gym to buffet are appreciated. Don't tell me you can't get good food in Cuba - this proves you can.
