Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: February 14*21 visit

We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana, Our stay was good. The hotel needs updating as it,s age is showing. Our bar fridge had water soft drinks and Coors light....really....should have been the local beer. The drinks are average as they serve the local liquors unless you stay at the Luxury hotels of the Bahia where they serve the premium liquors. I did not like the fact that in the lobby bar there was an additional fee for premium liquors. The beach is beautiful however it is crowd [... read more]ed. We had seven in our group and in order to get beach chairs together we would go to the beach around 7:30 to get chairs. There were plenty of pools with swim up bars. The buffets were good but the food choices were repetitive. The A la cartès were good/average. We had some issues but they were resolved quickly. Whenever we called for extra towels they brought them right away. We had a few servers in the A la carte restaurants that were average but for the most post the staff was friendly. If I were to go back I would stay at one of the Luxury Bahia resorts.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: best surprise!

Booked this resort, with pretty low expectations as we were trying to go south and not spend much. Spent only a few days at Gran Bahia Principe Caycoa and the views are spectacular! The view of Samana and the bay are stunning. The best surprise was we got offered to upgrade for free to Luxury Bahia Principe Samana....wow! Adults only, butler service and amazing restaurants! Bahia Principe Explore Coba: It was okay

Stayed at the coba resort from Feb 15 to 22 check in went okay. Wasn't too long and they offer you a Margarita. Now this resort is very big and confusing. A lot of small buildings. We only figured out the resort by the fifth day. They do offer go carts to shuttle you around every 15 minutes but we usually never took them. The pools are great we usually stayed at the large quite one that is away from the kids park. Food was good as well. Lots of variety. The a la carts are decent nothing amazing. [... read more] The rooms are a good size and clean. Our fridge never worked and we called the front desk and they never fixed it but didn't matter too much to us. The beds are very hard. We were lucky to have a foamy on ours but a couple we were staying with never got one and had a hard time with soar back. Most of the staff are very friendly. The ones at the smaller bars seemed to not want to be there, I am thinking because the tips are lousy. The beach is pretty but no sea life or anything. They have cement wave blockers which don't make the view very nice. My 2 year old daughter did contract hand foot and mouth disease from this resort but apparently it is common for young children. All in all an okay stay but will not be going back to this resort. Would like something smaller and closer to a nicer Beach.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Beautiful and clean

We as a group of 14 with ages ranging from 12 years to 71 years of age, there were something for everyone. The wait staff and custodians were more than friendly and helpful in every aspect of the resort, unfortunately that did not happen at the reception desks, we Felt they were disrespectful and quite rude with the simple task of even checking in. Other than that it was a fantastic vacation and we would return to that resort again on another vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Fabulous

Had no concerns! Very clean, food was great! Travelled with a mixed age group (12-71) and all were happy throughout stay. Beach walking, swimming, snorkelling were fun. Poolside was enjoyable! So many different areas to just sit and relax!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Had a Great Week at El Portillo

First of all, the drive from and back to the airport was fabulous, amazing views, mountains and beautiful vegetation everywhere. I normally just tolerate the drive to the resort but I enjoyed this transfer so much. The resort is very pretty and yet elegant, loved the open air concept in all the additional places to the lobby, restaurants, seating areas. There were so many places to go and sit if you wanted to get away from everyone. Rooms were great, everything replenished on a daily basis.  [... read more] Restaurants are really nice, loved the buffet outdoor seating on the beach. Food was good to really good depending on the dish. Tons of selection at every meal, fantastic fruit, yogurts, breads, salad bar, lots of flavourful dishes, some of the highlights for me were the pork tenderloin in prune sauce, the oxtail stew, the goat stew and the octopus stew. I know that these are not to everyone's taste but I loved them and there are plenty of delicious chicken, pork, seafood and beef dishes as well as lots of vegetarian. Rodizo, the Brazilian restaurant was a great experience, the most amazing chicken and pork although the service was poor, especially to two women. Dishes were replenished regularly at the buffet and those desserts were too good, especially the small squares of cakes, so light and delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful, slow to serve at the bar so you need patience but this is the Dominican so slow down. The beach was beautiful as expected, lovely bay with spectacular views to the right side. Lovely soft, fine golden sand, clear, calm water. You could walk for miles. My only disappointment and for me this was significant was that the beach was so crowded. There are not enough palapas and beach space with chairs for this size of a resort. I felt that people were on top of each other all the time. The only exception was if you got a front row palapa, otherwise you were looking at a sea of beach chairs and bodies. Lucky for me is that my sister is an early morning runner, so she was able to get a decent spot most days. We had great weather, one really overcast and windy day so we took a taxi into Las Terranas. Interesting town. lovely beach side promenade and restaurants and stores. The cab driver offered to wait for us for 2 hours but if not, there are plenty of other cabs. I loved Samana and would like to try one of the other smaller Gran Bahia resorts in this area.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: The resort is lovely

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The resort is small and quite intimate and the food delicious as it is at all Bahia resorts. The buffet had plenty of options so there was always something good to eat. The only special restaurant that I tried was the Brazilian and the food was good but be prepared as it is a slow way of eating. The water was very shallow quite a way out which is good for families with little children. There is some coral in the water which was good for snorkeling. This [... read more] is a good hotel to go to with your family or for a relaxing vacation. The town of Las Terenas is a good place to go for a look round the town, there are some nice restaurants there too.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great time

Hotel staff are very gracious. Our son has a peanut allergy and this resort is the best resort we have been to for managing peanut allergies. Beach is so great with warm water, and lots of room in the water. Close to a number of great excursions options.

Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Huge resort but very clean

Great resort, very clean and tidy. No large crowds and we always managed to find pool/beach chairs. The Japanese ala carte is the best by far, make sure you don't miss that one. I would recommend!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful place!

What can I say...great food, great service, beautiful beach and cold drinks! we really enjoyed our stay and did not want to come home. The staff was friendly, although they did not understand much English, but they got want we meant with a few hand gestures and pointing..

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great vacation

Fabulous trip, just one complaint, I didn't go for 2 weeks. Food, beach and staff were amazing, absolutely no complaints. Easy check in and out. Pleasant trip from airport, check in on bus, so when you get there you are ready to go to your room. It is very relaxing, slow paced vacation. We did go whale watching through the hotel and it was great. Saw quite a few whales, amazing!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: ok resort

Luxury Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Very big resort and so not suited for everybody. Not the greatest beaches and the best part of the beach was 10 min walk from the luxury portion of the hotel. Cleaning of rooms was sporadic and had to ask for towels almost everyday. Food was tasty but no variety. The A la carte restaurants are not really a la carte. Hotel is located 1 h 15 min from airport and not 15-20 minutes as indicated in the brochure. Bar in the luxury side closed at 11 and had to take a golf cart to the Grand side if you wanted to go to the karaoke bar or disco. Didn't know or find about the karaoke or disco until last night. Did not replenish room fridge on daily basis as indicated. Very nice pools. Very friendly staff. Very large rooms. Amazing view from every room on the luxury side. Very clean hotel. Entertainment was ok. Would recommend anyways because the issues with the hotel were minor.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Wouild go back!!!

Starting with Melanie from trip central she did everything she could to accommodate all 8 of us. This trip was the best ever. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and very clean The Food was amazing everything including steak! There was nothing missing even ketchup. All the staff were friendly and the beach was wonderful and warm, pool area was well looked after and they even had free sushi a the pool bar some days.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Good Resort for Families

New resort with good rooms. Friendly staff. Good food and services. The only inconvenience is that is around of 5 to 10 min walk from the beach. Esmeralda should be opened back to families considering that on the site are other adults only resorts to provide an option for the families with kids to be closer to the beach.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful Resort

The staff was very friendly although there English was limited they were helpful and happy. The resort was clean and well kept and with beautiful surroundings very lush and tropical. There was lots to do with activities always on the go. The food was very good with lots of variety.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing and Memorable Resort

When you arrived at this hotel they made you welcome right away. This hotel was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had lots of daily activities to do during the day as well as great day trips off the resort. The pool area as well as the beach area were clean. The buffet offered food for everyone. I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Big resort

We have been to other Bahia resorts and they are big but this one is much larger. We were disappointed by staffs lack of interaction or sense of urgency in some situations. Overall it was clean considering how busy the resort was. It could use an update in the Amber green resort where we stayed. There are a lot of amenities but getting to and from them to the beach was arrugas.Only certain trams ran on one side which meant you had to walk or wait for a different tram. Bahia Principe Explore Turquesa: Just so so

All and all wasn't to bad .. had a few little problem and no one took ownership of it .. made us feel like it was our problem .. what ever happened to the customer being right .. but food was great and the beach was amazing.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Below Average Resort

I would like to start by saying that this was our 4th visit to Jamaica in the past ten years and our first stay at The Bahia. We have stayed at other hotels that are in the same class as the Bahia. Positives about the Bahia: - The grounds are well kept - The pool is large and the area is nice - The resort is kept clean - The Beach (although man made) is quite nice The negatives of the resort : - The food and drink supply - they were out of essentials needed to make drinks for the [... read more] entire duration of our stay which really limited what drinks we could order. We have not experienced this anywhere else previously. - We sat down at an a la carte at 7:00 pm and did not receive our main course until about 10:00 pm. - They ran out of wine at the a la cartes or refused to pour a second glass. Throughout the stay, we were under the impression that the resort intentionally offered sub par service, hoping that you would pay more to upgrade to the Luxury side. It was almost like the resort chose to operate in the manner, it did not seem like the servers were intentionally offering poor service because they appeared to be doing their best. As I mentioned, we have been to Jamaica numerous times, have always enjoyed the people and the country but this resort was below expectations (and our expectations were not very high). We are all pretty easy going people and have experienced slow service but this visit to the Bahia left a bad taste in our mouths and although we will likely return to Jamaica, we will not stay at the Bahia. We made the most of the holiday because at the end of the day we were on vacation and out of the cold but there were a lot of people not satisfied with the resort. It was the first time we had been to Jamaica where we left feeling we did not get value for the price.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful resort with amazing pools

This place is massive, but they have trolleys and golf carts to get you from place to place. Beautiful beach is only a few steps away from Ambar Blue. The guest rooms were not consistent though, as friends we booked with got a room that did not have the same amenities as us. All-inclusive drink service was incredible and plentiful. The buffets were acceptable, but not overly memorable. The All-A-Carte restaurants were better.
