Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Relaxing vacation.

A happy return to our favourite Cuban resort. More buffet space as only one side of the resort has re-opened. Food variety was good. Rooms are upgraded with walk-in showers. A new centrally located disability washroom is much appreciated!! We’re looking forward to using the “quiet pool” again when renovations are completed on the Luna side of the resort. Nice upgrade on the beach washroom too. Thanks to our old friends for the warm “welcome back”!!! (Feb 10 to 24 visit.)

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Hola cuba!

Loved the tropical feel and very clean grounds. Staff is fantastic especially the beach staff and reception. Air transit staff at resort(Risci) was very helpful and friendly. Cuban people are fantastic. Very one should try Cuba!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Pretty Decent Stay

Grounds were well kept and not too dirty, snack bar area was filthy from birds. Room was comfortable, air conditioner worked, power was hard to turn on. Food was pretty good, restaurants were very clean and tidy.

Grand Memories Varadero: Good vacation with some challenges

Beaches & pools great, resort layout good. Food is challenge, poor quality and shortage of staples (pasta, eggs). Have to request clean towels multiple times. Would return though bc cheap & great beach.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Happy Resort

We loved the resort , our room was clean , the ac worked always had bottles of water left in our room and towels. The buffet staff were very pleasant always recognized you, I loved when the chef was singing. The food was good , the selection at times was mostly pork, but we never went hungry.The bars were well stocked, Route 66 bar was fun! Dam it Janet!! The grounds were very well maintained and friendly staff again.Wifi was spotty. Recreation staff awesome!!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Good value

Hotel was at about 40% capacity. No line ups, however sometimes felt like skeleton staff. They did a great job rushing around getting things for guests though. Some restaurants were closed.had to request drinking water in our room most days, beach bar had no beer fir a few days. But really good value and great staff.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: ok, I guess

ok, I guess, it could have been better, it could have been worse. I have been to better resorts in the past. As usually the beaches and the ocean in Cuba are some of the best; good thing there was no weeds or plants in the water. Weather was very good; the water temperature was perfect. Brand new resort, I believe it was open 4-5 months ago. Not too many things to do around the resort, kind of isolated.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not what was expected for the price

Two travelers that have been to Cuba previously with great experiences pre-Covid (once to another Meliã 5 star resort). We were anticipating some changes post-Covid and friends had great experiences in 2022. After speaking to others at the end of the week, it seems like their resorts were generally better and had incredible food... We most certainly overpaid for this vacation and are disappointed. POSITIVES: Beautiful and spacious lobby, bar and outdoor seating; Friendly and helpful maids, s [... read more]ervers (at the buffet) and front desk staff; Delicious donuts in the morning, ice cream, coffees and omelettes Beautiful beach (not very close to all rooms though) NEGATIVES: Very old and uncomfortable mattresses; Only one body pillow per single bed (had to fold it to sleep comfortably); Almost always no toilet paper in all public bathrooms (main building, pool, beach); Poorly lit pathways at night and unclear signage for various buildings (no one able to clearly direct us to the Italian à la carte restaurant after asking 3 different staff members); Missing basics like butter, ketchup, syrup, bananas; Most warm foods were cold and desserts were frequently dry and stale; Terrible food at the Japanese (sushi with no chopsticks, inauthentic Japanese tepanyaki food) & Italian (same overcooked and cold pasta that is served at the buffet...) à la carte restaurants (maximum of two per week and only three options); Unable to get pool towels one day (asked if there would be more later and was told "no"); International outlet converter required for hair tools (phones charged with no issue)

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Paradise Beach and amazing Staff!

Not sure why Sunwing and Iberostar are rating this a a 5 Star. Although the hotel is new, the beach amazing and the staff incredible, it lacks on other things that are very important. The food and also only having beverages for some. I personally don’t drink during the day but I do enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, and throughout my whole stay there was nothing but rum and vodka! I understand that Cuban people are going through a really hard time, this is a Spanish owned resort and they cannot be rating this a 5 Star when they are not. charging their guests Premium Rates and expecting us to accept it because it’s Cuba! Not impressed with the Iberostar or Sunwing!!

Playa Pesquero: Good vacation for the price

We've been to PP resort March 5-14 2023. Beautiful resort. We were in building 22 - very quite area. Clean rooms. Despite reviews saying that food supply is very limited, we found it not bad at all. All kind of vegetables, meet (pork and chicken only) was very tasty. Flambé and all sorts of coffee were fantastic. First 3 days there was no bananas, but than they were added to papaya, water melon and pineapples. There were no seafood except some razor clams and small fish for 3 days. No cocktails [... read more] variety, but gin and tonic was not bad. Several days there was no red/white vine at all, but sparkling vine was OK. No long lines in the buffet. Pretty funny menus in the a la carte restaurants. Lot of items were not available, so we end up with the same food served in the buffet. We have cancelled 2 out of 3 reservations after the first visit. Snorkeling was very different from what we had before in other resorts. You have to swim 300-400 m off shore to see corals and fish. But the water was so clean, you can see all details 8 meters down to the bottom. Massage was fantastic. As well as stretches, yoga and especially dancing classes with Liony! On the way back, in the bus air transat rep gave us wonderful introduction to Cuban life and described everything we passed. He even sang! Air Transat planes were comfortable, phone app was very helpful.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Okay Resort

Beach, pool and grounds were really nice. Service was great! Food was plenty full but would recommend more tongs and sanitizer for cleanliness. Saw mold on the bread, cockroaches around the food. Think they just rinsed the plastic cups to re-use them so bring your own cups for everything. Disappointed they didn’t have white wine or vodka. A few people got really sick while there from the food.

Club Kawama: Amazing resort!

The staff were so friendly and kind as well as efficient in their job. The resort was also clean and safe which is everything you want on vacation! Planning on going back to this hotel soon! The food was also great! :)

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort!

This resort was very nice. The people were great. The beach was amazing. Always a chair at the beach. All staff was great and did what they could to make your stay a enjoyable one. We would definitely go back to this Resort! Thanks for the great time.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Very Nice Resort

We very much enjoyed our stay at Patriarca. The resort is well kept, staff are fabulous and they give their best to the guests. The entertainment team are super talented. Shows were very good and the beach/pool staff were fun. Our room was spacious and clean. The food is typical Cuban and again they give the best they can. Oh and the desserts were really nice. I would go back to this resort.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Bed bugs!

I stayed at Brisas Guardalavaca for 4 nights in March 2023 and was bitten several times by bed bugs. The staff allowed me to change rooms. They could not tell if the problem was bed bugs or tiny red ants

Playa Pesquero: Very nice to be back to Cuba but...

Playa pesquero resort was great and met all expectations, because it's Cuba and you don't go there expecting luxury and great meals. That being said, the beach and coast line in Holguin is second to none. The water is so clear you'd think you're in aquatic heaven. The sad part is how Cubans seem to have lost their pride. They're having a real hard time now due to many obvious reasons and it's heartbreaking to see and hear how difficult it is for them. They need our help, us the privileged travel [... read more]ers can do a lot by bringing them some basic things we have too much of. That's what we're doing as soon as we can go back.

Starfish Jibacoa: Mediocre

The staff was friendly and accommodating. Half the hotel was closed for renovations. It is an old hotel and does need work. The pool and outdoor areas were very nice. They were not able to give us a bungalow like we booked saying that the rooms were too small to accommodate anything other than a 3/4 bed so gave us a room on the ground floor of the hotel. The next morning the bathroom floor was all wet from a leak above so we were given another room which was ok. I had fresh bites on me ever [... read more]y morning but my husband who was in the same bed did not. Though the food was pretty much the same every day, there was plenty.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Beautiful resort

For me I like the resort it was beautiful but I like it when you are relaxing outside and you have a waiter or waitress that comes along and ask you if you need a drink from the bar but we didn't get that service here if you wanted a drink someone had to go to bar for a drink. Food wise we eat but I don't understand that their is no fish at the resort we had turkey, porkchop ,vegetables and rice all week the snack bar had hotdog,fries,spegatti, pizza for drinks we were having sex on the beach d [... read more]uring the day and beer or cacao liquor after supper. Iberostar Selection Holguin: Amazing Experience

We had an amazing experience. Approx 40min drive from the airport. The resort grounds were immaculately kept, no shortage of food and drinks, pools and grounds were well kept the beach was clean and easily accessible. Staff are extremely pleasing and polite and go above and beyond. Rooms were clean. Definitely would recommend this place.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Changed resorts!

We arrived at Grand Memories on March 6, 2023. After spending two nights we decided to switch to Memories Sanctuary. Our room and another person who traveled with us and had a separate room decided to leave because the rooms were not clean. Blood on the sheets in our room and the other room. Drawers were full of dirt and shelves in closet dirty. Once changing to Sanctuary we were very satisfied. Nice rooms, beautiful landscaping, excellent buffet. We stayed in Bungalow #60.
