Hotel Playa Coco: We loved this resort

We enjoyed everything at the Playa Coco resort,we had no complaints in 2 weeks. The resort grounds were beautiful,the rooms were large and the food was the best we have had in Cuba.We will certainly consider going there again.

Hotel Mojito: Another amazing 2 weeks in paradise!

Iberostar Mojito is a quiet resort that is excellent for relaxation and rejuvenation and tends to attract a clientele not overly into 'partying'. Staff are friendly and very helpful - rooms are bright and sunny and clean. Food is not fancy - if you are a gourmand you will be disappointed - but tasty, well prepared and always available. Beachfront has been eroding somewhat over the years, but plans have been made to dredge and restore the shoreline. Myself and a group of friends have returned many years in a row - often connecting with old friends that do the same - staff remembers you from previous visits and are always happy to see you return. Not a 5 star resort - but if you are looking to recharge your batteries in a comfortable, beautiful and safe place - Mojito is for you.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: great experience!!!!

We were 3 adults and 5 kids under 9 years old.We all had fun!! The room are nice,clean and we had a surprise a ocean view.The buffet good variety not too much line up at the grill or pasta station.The beach is nice but rocky,they were creative with the elevated terrasse and the stair to go in the water..Overall very good vacation and the service everybody was wonderful.. We wouldlike to go back.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good and bad

This hotel is smaller than the average in size. Good for little kids since don't need to walk too far for everything. Food is average, but the fruits are really baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Service is average as well. Beach is good, but currently part of it is under some construction....

Melia Jardines del Rey: Very Big

It was very nice. Grounds were well kept. Many pools.Rooms very nice clean plenty of towels. Beach was wonderful. Buffets was good .a la cart. We went to the Ialian resturant ordered tomato and meetball soup came with one meetball in the middle .that was a joke. Also went to the seafood ordered lobster. Received 1 teaspoon of lobster. All and all we were only there for 3 nights and 4 days .we did enjoy our trip. The staff at the hotel were wonderful.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Average Hotel but good price

The hotel was about average, nothing too exciting. The room was again OK.... the beds not the greatest. The beach was wider than I expected but it has a lot of shells and corals which makes it hard to walk in the shallow water. The food wasn't great but you can find something to eat if you really wanted to. I would not stay 2 weeks though. The reason we booked this resort was mainly for the low cost. For CUBA, I would give it a just about 4 stars...... not the 5 stars it claims to be.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Family Resort

Just returned from a week at the Memories on Grand Flamenco beach. Had a great time and the hotel met my expectations. It was my first visit to this hotel. The hotel was probably 35-40% full. There were always chairs at the pool with shade. Key Points: Staff is fantastic. Most bent over backwards to ensure we had a great trip! (the amazing Cuban people are why we return to Cuba) Our rooms were in bungalow 4 which is close to the pool, beach and buffets. My dad has some mobility issue [... read more]s and we had a wheel chair. He was glad as there was lots of walking, however, compared to other resorts, this one is not too large. The food was very good with lots of variety at every meal. The omelet cook was the best. Always a smile, joke and laugh in the morning. 4-5 kinds of fresh fish for the grill at lunch and dinner + 3-4 kinds of meat for the grill too. There was a carving station. Plus lots of prepared dishes too. Cuban food has improved so much. Line-ups in the buffet were very short for omelets, pasta, grilled fish or meat. I've been over 25 times and never been sick on the food. However, they only had rice and beans on the buffet one day and never served banana's flambe. (my favorite - apparently they only have this when there are lots of bananas) We had 2 birthdays in our group and the chef provided cakes for both dinners. Got a special table at the buffet with roses for the ladies. Most bars served limited brands - Lobby bar had best selection, but still a bit limited. I think the Diamond Class guests get a better selection, but it's not in plain view. Beach is being reclaimed, and will be fantastic soon. Didn't need water shoes to go swimming. it was really windy and the water was wavy, so not able to snorkel or go out on any Hobie cats. The only beach shade is near the trees in the back. They need to finish the reclamation work and get some beach shade umbrellas built fast. There was lots of painting going on. They are getting ready for high season. it's nice to see them improving, but it made our visit a bit smelly. The rooms were OK. We were in a ground floor room and had quite a few bugs (looked like roaches, but no spiders) The beds were hard and the pillows too. Our hotel room phone didn't work at all - they said they were working on it. So it you needed to speak to the PR team, you had to go in person and no wake up calls. All maintenance was done quickly (toilet leaked, light in bathroom blew). Entertainment was OK. Lots of live music in the lobby every night. No disco on site so if you want to go dancing you have to go down the road and it's going to cost you extra. Pools were cold. Good thing it was sunny and warm. The foam party on Thursday afternoon was lots of fun. I would consider a return trip to this hotel because the staff was so amazing.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Very Meh...

It would seem as though we arrived during maintenance week. The beach was closed for dredging for 5 of our 7 day stay, and when it was finally open, the sand was coarse and very "shelly". We could have gone for a 10 minute walk in either direction to sit on the beach if we really wanted to, but that was not my intention. The rooms were okay - mildewy, and a little grimey. Our curtains didn't open the full way so we had to use the coffee table to pin them to the walls to get more light in our [... read more] room. We also had a number of bugs in the room (little flying, crawly ones... and at least one small spider). The water pressure and temperature was lacking and the shower head sprayed in all different directions, including back at the wall when placed in the shower holder. Neither of our phones worked in the room. Staff were also in the process of repainting most of the surfaces around the pool during our stay. Drips of red paint/stain and the faint stink of fresh chemicals were always around. Crews were building a diamond club bar during the whole week we were forced to sit around the pool, which was FREEZING. The pool deck was littered with sticky mojito messes, lime wedges, and discarded cigarette butts. Your drink of choice was not always readily available as bars frequently ran out of certain beverages, including one night where the Snack Bar ran out of wine and my mother had to walk to the lobby bar to get another bottle because the staff refused to restock the bar for her. Needless to say, that wasn't the resorts most shining moment. That being said, the majority of the staff were wonderful and helpful. The food was good... lots of variety and tasty. While Cola and Fanta were hard to come by in the buffet, especially earlier in the day, and the coffee being coolish (never hot), the food was the hotels redeeming quality. There is no disco on site; you have to walk to one 10 minutes down the road which is MOSQUITO central at night. Night time entertainment was okay if you enjoy dancing. The magic act with the mannequin will blow your mind! *no spoilers* And there were lots of cats which is good if you like cats. Despite my complaints, the resort was okay... but I probably won't be back. #FirstWorldProblems

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing staff

Amazing people, beautiful gardens and grounds, best food in Cuba we've had so far, beautiful beach area just upgraded new sand to cover coral. Resort not to big, all buildings surround pool area, so your close to everything!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Awesome Vacation

We stayed 10 days at Memories Caribe and had a very relaxing vacation! The staff in all areas of this resort were SUPER friendly, including the groundskeepers. The beach was incredible...you can walk for miles along the coast! Beautiful resort.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing resort

The resort is great. We went there to relax and that's exactly what this resort is for. The room was amazing. King size bed with white fabric hanging over it. Very romantic and very comfortable. Very clean also. The ocean was right out our window. The maid came twice per day. At night when we were at dinner she made our bed again and put flowers all over it. Every night. The staff were great and very helpful and friendly. The ground are well kept and clean. We spend everyday at the beach which is also very clean. Overall we had an amazing vacation.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Best Beach! In Cayo Coco!

The resort was very large and clean. Gardeners every day cutting and watering and maintaining the landscape. Are room was modern looking,clean, and a quiet air conditioning! The beach was the best! shaded area was always available!

Melia Costa Rey: A delightful surprise!

From the moment we walked into the lobby we were impressed. Ample comfortable seating, a friendly staff and beautiful view looking over the pool and out onto the ocean. The rooms were nicely done. Typical hard beds that we have come to expect in Cuba but really comfy pillows. Bathroom had a frat rain shower and a soaker tub. For some reason many of the toilets needed to be pumped I order for the tank to fill but not a big deal. Plentiful seafood at the buffet and the a la cartes werethebest I've experienced in my 15+ times to Cuba. Nightly entertainment was professional and the Cuba. Bands playing in the lobby and restaurants were excellent and a lot of fun. Not unusual for band members to dance with guests. I would highly recommend this resort and plan to return. Also and perhaps best of all, it's only a ten minute drive from the airport!

Hotel Mojito: A home away from home

From the moment we arrived the staff treated us like we were part of their family. It also didn't come across too fake. We got checked into our room in the building we had requested. The rooms was as expected. Clean and simple. We were actually surprised that the pillows were even comfortable. Once we settled we headed out to the buffet as we arrived just before the buffet was closing. The food was really good. We had a lot to choose from and didn't get tired of it during our week stay. Hit up the grill in the snack bar and the pig roast if you can for lunch. The cigar bar although quite the bar tender Franky made some amazing drinks. Let him surprise you. You won't be disappointed. Michal in the lobby bar also has 1 drink that will knock your socks off. Axel in the pool bar is very kind and gets to know your drink preferences. We had a great stay and would go back. Rated a 3.5 but more like a 4. It does need a little bit of TLC cosmetically but you see past that once you see how welcome and at home you will feel. If you want to bring stuff for the staff bring Imodium, tooth paste and Crazy Glue. This is what they are currently needing. You simply can't get it even if you have money right now.

Hotel Playa Coco: Another Amazing Vacation at Hotel Playa Coco

This was the second time we returned to this Hotel . Again it seems to be improving. They have added a Coffee and wine bar in which was amazing for those of us who enjoy just that . The Theatre is still under construction but that did not interfere with the entertainment . The Hotel Lobby area in which was large was perfect for guests to lounge around and sit in comfortable seats . The Staff was very friendly and the Animators such as Chocol [... read more]ate and Minion, and the others too many to mention were the highlight . . the Food was great at the buffet. Lots to choose from and the Ala carts were great . Especially the Japanese. . the Beach was kept clean and there was lots of room to either lay around an also lots of shaded places.

Melia Costa Rey: Fantastic Resort

When going to Cuba, food is often an issue, but not at the Pullman resort in Cayo Coco. Plenty of variety and the three specialty restaurants, seafood, Japanese and French are just that....special. The rooms are spacious. We stayed in Bldg. 42 and had a view of the ocean. There is a little bit of a walk to the restaurant but for those with walking issues there is a shuttle. What makes this hotel are the staff. They are amazing and accommodating.

Melia Costa Rey: Pullman Cayo Coco

The view from the lobby was amazing, we could see the pool area and the ocean.. I went with a group of girls we enjoyed having a before dinner drink in the lobby. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was cleaned every day and water and drinks were left for us in the room. We had a nice cotton house coat to put on after our showers. The food was the best I have ever had in Cuba. I liked the Japanese restaurant the best. The resort is mid sized and I enjoyed having a shuttle to take  [... read more]me back and forth to my room. My walking is limited to short distances so it was very helpful to have the shuttle. The only problem was sometimes the shuttle took a long time to come. It was very windy so we did not get too hot. Not sure if it is normally windy. We were in Varadero last year at the same time and I do not recall it being this windy. As far as Cuba I would give this hotel a 5 star.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Average

The hotel was ok however we would not go back. Not a great place to bring your family. Beach is beautiful, but the sand is firm. Food is bearable. Keep in mind locals love to butt in line whether you're at the bar or at the restaurant waiting at the grill station. Staff are very friendly and rooms were clean. The weather was super windy and could get chilly at times. Great for kite surfers.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great resort.

Just returned from a week at Sol Cayo Coco. Like almost all hotels in Cuba it's a little dated but the new GM, Guillermo, is constantly making improvements. They have the best beaches along this area. The main beach out front is huge but can be very rough water. There is a calmer beach on the other side of the resort in the cove. Great spot for young children. The food was just fine, especially breakfast at the buffet and lunch at the pool bar. Can't comment on the a la carte as we don't go to t [... read more]hem. The buffet at dinner always had something good to eat. The staff can't do enough for for you from the gardening staff right to the front desk staff. Can hardly wait to return in March. Thank Sol!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: A REAL GEM !!!!!!!!

THE HOTEL , FOOD , AND PEOPLE AT MEMORIES ARE ABOUT THE BEST I HAVE EVER MET. THE CHALLENGE IS THAT CANADIANS HAVE BECOME COMPLAINERS.
