Brisas Guardalavaca: Loved our stay

Good day! I would like to first start with the fact that every employee we came into contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The resort is lovely. I understand that there are some renovations happening at the hotel and I look forward to those. The room we were in had a few issues ( air didn’t work well, fridge didn’t work, bathroom had some issues with plug and hot water) none of which we complained about…you don’t spend much time in there anyway. Thank you for my fabulous vacation

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Paradisus

This resort is definitely not a five star resort more a two or three star. Food wasn’t great Choice of alcohol was very limited. First room we had had a lot of problems so we moved. The second room was a little better but a/c was so noisy we had to turn it off. The resort at one time was quite nice however it is becoming run down. Staff seem a little bit down as well probably because they bear the brunt of the complaints which is too bad because it is not their fault.

Roc Barlovento: Great holiday

This is a smaller resort that is clean with a great location and beautiful big beach. The food is good, we never went hungry. The staff is awesome and make your vacation a wonderful time. The pools are clean and the entertainment crew keep you busy and happy

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Amazing Resort & Staff

Loved our holidays at this resort. They sure do go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. This resort was recommended to us from our friends that return Year after year and now we will be doing the same.

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort ... but..

Great stsff and location , great beaches , the food is average for Cuba . It's very frustrating because it could be a place I would frequent but I will not return because they do not put any effort into cleaning ! And because of this there ate cockroaches at the restaurants , on the buffet and at the bar . The public washrooms are never clean.

Melia Costa Rey: Amazing Resort

The resort is beautiful and clean and well layed out. The staff is amazing and helpful. The food was good and there was plenty of choice. The beach is well maintained and beautiful! Many services available and wi-fi. Can’t wait to go back!!

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Very large and beautiful resort.

Very large and beautiful resort. The room was modern and beds were comfortable. The shower is open to the room so it is a little tricky for privacy. The towels were not changed during our stay but we could exchange our beach towels daily. We requested 2 extra body pillows via a note in our room and we got them on the same day. The beach was very clean and spacious. No chair reservations needed. Shaded gazebos were being constructed by skilled workers with palm trees and leaves... simply a [... read more]mazing to see them work! The 2 pools were clean... one to party and one to relax in. Shaded areas are few and far between. The food was not so bad but very repititious. Same food almost every day. There are food shortages so no expectatioms means no disappointment. Bring condiments like ketchup, mustard, peanut butter, granolas and snacks. The À la carte restaurants were very tasty and the waiters were eager to please. If small.group, it is easy to find a spot even witout a reservation. Our favorite was the Cuban food... the tostones... delicious!! Wine, beer and rhum galore... If you are looking for something more refined, bring your own. The lounge wait staff and entertainers were just fabulous. The 3-hour Wifi was good in our room and the pool but unavailable at the beach. Quick tip: Be nice to the reception staff, 1$ tip goes a long way... we got unlimited access for 4 days. If you want to bring a few things for staff, they are very appreciative... shoes, medication, clothes. You can tip in Canadian coins and then buy them back in exchange for bills. No need for cuban pesos or US$. Good $ for value. If you are looking for a party place this is not for you.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Horrible - Would never go back

Cockroaches, bugs in the food. While we were eating our dinners, lunch, breakfast, you name it. Best yet - on the second night our group discovered we were bitten by bed bugs. What could we have done? Try to enjoy it the best we could - had a few sleepless nights because of this. Food? Not many options at the buffet or restaurants. Either chicken or pork - guess what, we are religious and couldn't eat pork. Best of it all, when we asked for chicken hot dogs we were told it was - when we asked to [... read more] see the packaging, it was chicken AND pork in the hot dog. GREAT! Water and drinks for the bars hand sand in it and if it wasn't sand then it was almost like dirt floating around the drinks, melting from the ice. DISGUSTING!! Room cleaning? We got one towel for the whole trip - only had a hand towel for TWO days after that, we never saw it back. The staff - never happy, never show you a smile and you don't feel wanted. We left the resort most of the times because it was really unbearable. I am not sure how this is a 5 star resort - should be a 2 at most. Left a really bad taste in my mouth for the Iberostar chain. Worst experience of our lives - in terms of the resort. Cuba is a very beautiful place though.

Everything was excellent love it.the food ,the ocean, the service the weather the people the activities the drinks the music the dinner the bar the rooms the pool the stage was extremely amazing will go again

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Somewhat Acceptable

The Starfish has the potential to be a great resort but.... First the good news The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. Winding paths lined with flowering hedges. The 1 or 2 story units line the paths and some have huge "yards". All are a short walk to the beach, with some almost in the water! The food was good and with an abundance of choices. With lots of lounge chairs, not a common thing in Cuba. Very friendly, outgoing staff. The overworked staff in the Lobby Bar never failed to smile and be pleasant. The not so good. We stayed in the wooden bungalows, which we paid extra for ( on the advice of a travel agent) big mistake. They appear great with lovely settings surrounded by Palm Trees. But, they have no insulation between the two room units, (we had to be moved because of noise). They also seemed a little smaller then the tradition concrete bungalows. They are very dark inside, with inadequate lighting, to the point were we had to use flashlights to see. They also have gaps in the exterior walls which let in biting insects. We at times had to resort to bug repellent at night. We also saw what we think were an army of termites in our bathroom. Our air conditioner's controls didn’t work. (had to use the breaker box as an of/on switch). The bars, with the exception of, the very small lobby bar, all closed at 4:00 pm. Which made it very busy. We have been to Cuba many times (first time since COVID) and knew to have lower expectations, especially with the shortages they are now having, but we couldn’t help feeling let down by the lack of a little preventive maintenance here. The resort is what we want , low rise rooms on lovely grounds (you really get your steps in here). I just wish everything worked a little better, and we had tried out the older cement bungalows.

Playa Vista Azul: Playa Vista Azul

Found everything to be excellent Third trip and we will be back. Staff were outstanding---we had upgraded room etc. and it was well worth the money. Pizza at poolside was especially enjoyable. Carlos at the pool bar was fun and very competent. His KISS ME drink was special.

Club Kawama: We love Kawama

This was our 5th visit to this resort. The beach is spectacular! Great for swimming, lots of shells on the beach and great for long walks. The rooms are a little tired but beds are comfortable and there is hot water and air conditioning. The staff are amazing and we always meet lots of other friendly Canadians who are also repeaters to the resort. We enjoyed two tours set up by the Sunwing rep and felt the service was excellent. Melia Marina Varadero: Pleasant Melia Marina

- Free WiFi did NOT work - toilet paper not delivered to room when requested - key card locked me out of room on second last day. - towel rack fell off wall - out of most foods - food has improved over previous 3 years. - beautiful view, pleasant pool, and steps to gorgeous beach - grossly overpriced!! @ almost $2000 - was rushed over the telephone by tripcentral agent stating his wife wanted to go shopping!!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Really nice place

We had a great time at the occidental in cuba. People were so nice. Beach amazing. All the crystal beer you can handle. All rum drinks too. Pool and bar so much fun. Food was ok especially breakfast. Rooms were cleaned every day and fridge stocked with water. 32 degrees and sunny. .

Tryp Cayo Coco: Amazing time at the Tryp once again

Once again great time at the Tryp. Glad to see familiar faces as far as staff goes. Staff is amazing, beach is amazing, resort is amazing, I had a great time, weather was perfect. I will never go to another resort as long as the Tryp is open. Only thing I found from three years ago when I was there (unfortunately had to wait til covid was over to come back) was lack of variety at the buffet at all meals. Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort

This is a newer resort the rooms clean ,bed comfortable and everything works. The resort is well lite up at night. It's is very clean. Majority of the staff are younger and provide resonable service.The lobby bar staff quickly get you your first drink but are a little slow on the second even if you are tipper. Thr bar assistant manager was very good.But some of the staff work 8 and 10 hrs the bar staff work 12. The staff travel 2 to 4 hrs a day each way. Very long days. The beach is beautiful [... read more] and raked by hand lots of loungers and shade.The beach boys are quick to find you a place. Beach bar staff very good. The pools are very clean. The bar staff provide good service. The biggest issue is there's not a lot of shade. The snack bar staff are very good. On Cuba day very good food.I did ask for pizza one day at lunch and was told the wait was two hours. The buffet lots of food waiters and staff hard working. The down side was there was a lot of pork almost to much. There was ground beef and beef strips. No chicken until the last two days. Lots of eggs limited bread and no butter. Thete was s lack of fish also.There was no pasta until the last two days and it was only spaghetti dishes. The la cartes were terrible only the Cuban snd Asian open no Italian or Metterian due to lack of supplies. But service was good. There is a shortage of liquors such as tequilas , red and white wine. The entertainment was lacking in the lobby. We did have a piano player for three out of the seven nights. His name was Joseph and he is very talented. The Hobbie craft operators were excellent always approaching people offering there services. I never seen this at any other resorts before in the Carribbean. We did one excursion to the City of Camerey don't waste your money it's about $100 Canadian each. It is a long day over 4 hours of travel. The only thing I learned was the same bus beer in Camerey is one dollar not five dollars like the bus. Remember the two beer for five dollars they were still making money. This resort is a long way from anywhere it's not Varadero, Cayo Santa Marie, Holguin or Cayo Coco areas. That have taxis,buses,and some shops setup. But the area of Cayo Cruz is still under development.Ten more resorts in the works for this beach area. Thr WiFi worked very good everwhere on the resort. Lots of internet boosters around the resort. The resort quest was a mixture of Canadians from Ontario, Quebec and a few martimers. The majority of the other quest were Russian. The Russians kept to there selves. Only issues some are rude and try to jump a head of you in line. Only happen one day some drunkan ones made comments about Canadians. But I did notice extra security was around when the last plane of Russiand arrived. This is to Canadians try not to tip with our coins. The Cubans can't use them only paper. They want Canadian or US paper. They either use it to buy items on the black market or they take it to the bank and deposit it to there bank card. One Cuban had a bag of tips well over $500 in coin. We came back with over hundred dollars each in coin.We were approach numerous times by workers once they got to know us and we cashed some of their coins. I wish the staff had name tags very few had tags. It would be great to give credit to ones who stood out above the rest. Just to let people know this was likley our twelfth trip to Cuba and I like to give my honest opinion on these reviews. I use trip central reviews for our travel.I think over time things will improve. Rum and cigars aren't cheap anymore in Cuba in the tourist areas. Once again thank you Carol Webber for your service.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Great time

This is a great resort for Cuba. Room o.k. Maid service great. Plenty of hot water. Water pressure was great. Had enough towels everyday . Air conditioner was working just fine. No lock on balcony but was very hard to open. No blackout curtains. No big deal there. Not a far walk to anything. Staff was wonderful. Lot's of entertainment on beach and pool. Disco was fun. Plenty to drink. Food was good. Never left hungry. Never used the gym but only opens at 9.00. Not a lot of lighting at  [... read more]night. Ocean was over the top beautiful. Beach is perfect. Around noon there were no more chairs. Also at the pool. This is Cuba you read the reviews and may be already been to Cuba. So you know what to expect. If you want luxury pay for it. I paid under $1100.00 and was very very pleased with my stay. Remember you get what you pay for. I had a blast and will be going back.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice resort

Hotel and ground’s are nice , room was okay except for the bathroom there was no standup shower , I ask to be moved but they wanted more money . But was.clean except for one day that no one even went there . Food wasn’t that great and the people that work there could or should be more friendly. A lot of problems with internet

Hotel Los Cactus: Wonderful place to stay!

Clean, amazing staff, beautiful beach, great drinks, Air Supply, and 3 meals a day! I had an awesome time at Los Cactus! I traveled there alone and ended up meeting some incredible people. I highly recommend spending time here.

Melia Varadero: Bad food ruined the trip

It was our first time to Cuba. I was warned about the food but never imagine it could be so bad. Not to mention the staff at the buffet filling plastic water bottles they serve to guests with tap water. My daughter was very sick because of it. Dishes were dirty. Most of the staff gave us the impression that they don't care. Only a few friendly faces. Rooms are nothing like in the pictures on the website. They burned trash 100 feet from our room all night and almost poisoned us. Had to ask room s [... read more]ervice to change our sheets. They didn't clean the bathroom either. Just gave fresh towels in a dirty bathroom. The rest of the resort and beach were very well maintained and very nice.
