Melia Las Dunas: Quiet family holiday.

Beach is spectacular. Pool wonderful for kids. The resort is well laid out,but could use some better programming for kids. Plus, could create a playground/ splash pad with water features for kids to play. Current splash pad doesn't provide much.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful

At the hotel we arrived late and found that the hounds are dark and needed more lighting. Also the lobby is simple and can do with a bit more extravagance to get you excited. Over all the staff was friendly, rooms were clean and the beach was amazing. The nightly entertainment is nice but should get the audience involved more. The food was good to Cuba standard and it is a great relaxed atmosphere. Great place to zen out.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful resort and beach

The resort is new and clean, also a good size and great facilities. Staff were friendly and fun. The beach is super close and is a nice long stretch so you can find the best spot for yourself -either close to the action or further out in peace and quiet, which is where i loved it the most. Water so clear and sand clean and white - paradise! Food was great, if you like seafood there's always fresh fish in multiple varieties and some restaurants have lobster which is absolutely delish. Only one minor thing about the room - the shower had poor water pressure so don't expect it to be same as at home, but it's completely manageable. And overall, one tip - bring a mosquito repellent if you like to be out at night :) depending on weather they can get pretty crazy!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great resort but terrible flight

Resort was beautiful and staff was amazing. Rooms were a little outdated but we're cleaned daily. Food was average but we could always find something to eat. Really enjoyed the food at the beach grill. Food was cooked fresh right in front of you. The beach was beautiful and water warm and clear. If you ca [... read more]n, try to seat in his area. He's extremely efficient and knowledgeable. However, had major issues with Sunwing and would not recommend anyone travel with them. Started to experience problems from the minute I tried to book my seats from home. Sunwing will only allow you to book your seats four hours before the fight leaves which is not the norm as most airlines give you 24 hours. I tried several times to book the seats online but the system wouldn't let me. Since I live about an hour from the airport if I finally had to leave and of course by the time I reached the check in we were given what ever was left. Even had a worse experience coming home. Booked our seats ahead of time from the resort thru the Sunwing representative and paid extra. When we reached the airport we found out the seats were over the wing and we would of had better seats if we had just booked at the airport. Our bags were weighted and we were over. This didn't make any sense as we weren't over going down but were close to the limit. I had only purchased a few souvenirs and knew we couldn't possible be over that much. When I tried to place some things in my purse (it was a big purse) he told me he would have to weigh my purse. This is when another gentleman came over. I asked him what am I going to do then and he said we would have to pay. My husband asked the price and the amount was ridiculous. At this point I said this is crazy and again I questioned how could be over this much when we weren't coming down. I decided my souvenirs weren't worth that much and stated I'll have to throw them out. This is when it went from bad to worse. Without a word he picked up the garbage can and plunked it in front of me. I started to throw out my souvenirs and he never said a word except to tell us we are still over. We felt at this point we have no option but to pay so we did. We travel quiet a bit and we have never had a situation like this or have been treated like this. I have contacted Sunwing twice but am still waiting for a return call. This was the first time we have travelled with Sunwing so travellers beware.

Memories Paraiso: Very disappointed

Very big , very run down, NO RUNNING WATER FOR THREE DAYS!!! No telephone, was to be up graded to diamond club but did not happen, buns as hard as rocks served with mayo no butter!!! Arrivals stolen out of luggage in room, no help from sunwing staff, resort staff not friendly

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Good quality for the money.

Clean, nicely laid out resort; easy to find your way around; decent quality of food; hotel employees very kind and eager to please; some of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean! Yes, it is a long drive from airport, but nice to see the countryside of villages of Cuba. Only problem is the rude people of Quebec, who are sadly representing Canadians!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Top end Resort and beach

My wife and I had an amazing trip. The a la carte dining was wonderful. This was our 4th trip to Cuba and this resort had the best a la carte's. The beach was very clean and crystal clear water without any sea grass . just fine sand.

Memories Paraiso: Good resort

Very, very big!, the beach was perfect, the room was also perfect, always clean, no bugs, the sheets were clean, apparently this has been a problem in the past, this resort has a real problem with supplying beach towels daily, we went 4 days before our towels were changed. The grounds were very nice, some of the resort needs some upkeep but generally very nice. The food was not good, I do not say this lightly, I have been going to Cuba on and off for 20 years and this is the worst food in 20 yea [... read more]rs. Having said that they did have some food we have never had before, such as yogurt, ice cream from Nestles', hole shelled almonds and some days peanut butter but they only had bananas 2 of the 12 days we were there and they were not edible. This island produces bananas do not understand this problem. Dinner time also produced some perks we had not had before, they had portable bars on just about every corner! The manager, or director was not very approachable and when you did get a chance to speak to him not helpful, he could not explain why all the problems existed but did spend a lot of time complaining about his own problems with the resort.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing resort

Beach was unbelievable. Gardens were well kept. All good for my family's experience. We will return in the near future. Staff was friendly kind and help full. The beach is the most gorgeous I have ever seen and will make sure everyone that w talk to will know what to expect when they go!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: great place to stay

The people were great. All bartenders were awesome great atmosphere outings were fabulous learnt a lot about the culture. Will go again in the near future. Recommend the jeep outing and also take a ride to different cities we did that on our last day. A lot to see

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Best Cuba Vacation

The Royalton is small, personal and impeccably clean. The staff are engaging without being annoying. We were very impressed with the level of personal service. The beach is the best we have ever been to - coral blue water and fine white sand. We played volley ball followed by drinks and seafood quesadillias on the beach everyday. We spent 2 weeks at the Royalton and would return in a heartbeat. A fabulous oasis with a staff that is eager to please.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: amazing location

The Ensenachos has two beautiful beaches but there is not enough shade provided. Too few palapasses and many of the ones that are there have part of the roof missing. The resort was not nearly full (don't believe staff when they tell you that the resort is full, they are trained to say that) and still, when you go to the beach, say 10.00 am, you won't be able to find a place in the shade. This was very disappointing for us as the beach is the main thing for us to go to the Caribean.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort/Beach

Spent a week at Playa Cayo Santa Maria April 23-30. The beach and crystal clear water was amazing! The resort was great, clean rooms, well maintained grounds and pools. Good choice of a la carte restaurants, and lots of choice at buffet. Food was good!! Would certainly go back to this resort and recommend to others! Miss it already!

Great beach, regular Cuban food as expected. The pool, however, was very dirty. Restaurants not available often enough. Not enough shade provided at the beach. Need to get up very early to reserve chair and shaded areas.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great resort, with more than expected

The buildings are beautiful and our room was lovely.The resort had more than expected, Great selection of drinks great entertainment in the lobby every night and even a guy serving ice cream on the beach on a hot day, what more could you want.The a la cartes were wonderful and gave specialized service. Memories Paraiso: Superb Hotel!

Everything was amazing, the service desk, the bars,the grounds, bartenders, the gardeners,the pools and the ocean! The food at the buffet was lots of variety plus something different every night! The entertainment at the ocean and pool side were fantastic to evening entertainment for everyone. Great vacation with some of their excursions added to do something different and very enjoyable.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort but not a 5 star

Hotel, grounds and pools were beautiful and very well kept. The beach was one of the best I have been to. The only downside was the food...it was terrible!! No selection at all we were eating the same things for a week straight which weren't even good to begin with. The food was all so bland and tasteless. It was so annoying to get out of the pool everytime you wanted a drink. Thought that was very strange as I have never been to a resort without a swim up bar. Also they do not have water bottles except the very big ones and they give them to you so warm you can't grab a chilled one. So it's either that or a tiny cup of cold water that will last you about 30 seconds.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Very nice resort

The resort is very inviting and centrally located. The actual resort is medium sized and very easily walkable to most common areas such as the buffet, beaches, entertainment. The beaches itself are breathtaking.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Would not go back. Ever

The only thing I enjoyed about the resort was the beach and the pool. The rooms are by the best, dirty comforters. The food at the restaurant and buffet is gross. Stayed for 7 days and could not wait to leave. Do not waste your money on going to Cuba.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Great Value with Amazing Staff!!

My husband and I just returned Sunday April 19th after a week’s stay. Our overall assessment of this resort is high even with the negative comments. We will not personally return but the resort and staff should still get the recognition they deserve. Positive • Grounds were maintained • Rooms were clean • Staff was friendly and helpful • Beach is stunning • Weather was amazing • A la Carte restaurants are pretty good; we tried the Mexican, International and Italian. (House wine w [... read more]as actually really good which was surprising) Negative • I was eaten alive by Cuba's equivalent to our Mosquito which I took to calling "Ninja's" as you didn’t see or hear them coming. I had Toonie sized welts. • Food handling, as well as lack of choices. I will say that they did try to add taste by adding, garlic, salt/pepper, wine, however my husband and I both ended up with food poisoning which as I said I believe is due to how the food is handled. • Lighting at night - bring flashlights (it's really really dark in some area's) • Transfer from airport to hotel is over an hour away. • KIDS!!! Parents allowing their kids to do anything they wanted. Not cleaning up after their kids! ** My husband and I were eating breakfast and a couple with their baby decided they were going to clean their kids diaper right there in the middle of the buffet!!!! Are you kidding me!!! • **People are disgusting** On the occasions I used the public restrooms I had a poor experience both times, which is why I took to using our rooms bathroom moving forward. - The first time was the by the pool by buildings, there was poop on the walls, on the counter, and mirror! - The second was in the main lobby there was poop smeared on the toilet paper roll. I feel bad for the cleaning staff; they should not half to clean up after people like that. Other • Towels are not always changed daily • Water pressure is great however water temperature varies by time of day. Mornings = Cold, and at night = HOT!! I like the water hot but for some this may unexpected. • If you’re looking for a quiet place to just relax, this is not the resort for you. Young kids drunk, loud music until 1am-2am most nights. • Resort is pretty big so be prepared for some walking. DON'T LOSE YOUR PASSPORT! I lost my passport when we landed in-between the airport and the bus ride. The hotel and our Canjet rep Hector were great, they did what was within their means to try and assist. Long story short you need to travel to the Canadian Embassy in Havana which is 4+ hours away in each direction and a cab fare of $350-$450 return. Once you get to the Embassy you will need to fill out paper work to apply for a whole new passport at a cost of another $200 (not including photos) **We had a difficult time actually speaking to anyone live at the Embassy > we kept receiving voice mail. We didn't want to travel all the way to Havana if there was another way or if they were closed on the day we traveled. We actually had to call back to Canada and speak with someone in Ottawa in order to get any answers. Good news was hours prior to leaving my passport was recovered :)
