Ocean Riviera Paradise: Huge resort

A good resort for the family. It's a huge resort and be prepared to do alot of walking. Wasn't happy that its not walking distance to Playa del Carmen which my agent said it was. 20 mins by cab. The food was great, rooms were amazing and lots to do. Pools were as warm as the air so no relief from the heat. On our last morning had to walk in the pouring rain because bell boys and front desk didn't answer the phone.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Fantastic resort

This resort is incredibly spacious! We required golf carts to travel between our room and the lobby. It boasts seven restaurants, with 2 out of 7 requiring advance reservations. There are two expansive pools, each featuring a swim-up bar. However, the beach had a significant amount of seaweed both on the sand and in the water, which detracted from its appeal for swimming. A snack bar is open every day from 4 pm to 6 pm. Additionally, they offer a teen lounge that is open to adults as well. This  [... read more]lounge includes amenities like a bowling alley, pool tables, table tennis, a bar, and a teen club. The resort also features a nightclub, piano lounge, spa, gym, mini shopping store, and a medical facility. Our hotel room was excellent and kept comfortably cool. The housekeeping staff was exceptional. They promptly arranged a crib for me and quickly provided fresh towels. One minor drawback regarding the rooms is the potential for more regular sweeping, as it didn't seem to occur daily. Overall, this resort was outstanding and lived up to expectations.

Difficult to reserve restaurants, then you get there, restaurant is empty and no place available ! Beach is small and very heavy waves, full of weeds. Service was slow, did not fill our fridge even after calling, worst resort i ever been too

Ocean El Faro: Average Resort

This hotel has a lot of improvement still to do. The Hotel is nice but the rooms smelled like Mold and the food is horrible. The night Entertainment was horrible and needs improvement. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dining., rooms, professional stuff, food, night shows.....very good, perfect ! Luna, Jasmine ( booking dinner), Cesar( rest. Blue Moon) , they are the best, the best. MRS.Luna is the most profesional person in the resort ! Tha nk' s to all ! The beach , you have to resolve with the vegetation , and for transport the peoples inside , in the resort- it' s very imortant to help peoples to go everywwhere, for eating, fir reception, for coffe.....

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Not worth it

From the moment you walked in it was very basic nothing that wowed you. Lobby was fresh and full of people check in was normal luggage took a bit. There were many issues with our room, we had to change 3x and not even an apology for an inconvenience. We travelled with an infant and requested joining rooms which we never received. It was funny because the hotel pushes their "time share" and even after knowing our room issues they showed us a suite which was flooded, i couldnt help but laugh. [... read more] They wont pressure you persay but they have a weird way of pitching their 50k usd sales pitch. 50k for a hotel that isnt up to any standards PLUS you still have to pay for your stay its a joke. Rooms: 1st room fridge never worked and we lost a carton of milk also towel rack fell on our child. Mini bar was not stocked with daisy club items such as chocolates or milk. 2nd room had a leak in the bathroom and the sliding door wouldnt lock. Also wasnt stocked. 3rd room finally had no major concerns but they still couldnt accomodate our joining request for another couple of days. The food at the buffet was very repetitive and lacked a lot. The Italian restaurant was far from any italian food and shouldnt be considered italian. The Mexican restaurant was always empty and after eating there i knew why. Ive travelled to Mexico 5x and have never experienced such distasteful food literally. Even the enviroment ,there was no mexican vibe; very poor representation in comparison to other resorts. The steakhouse was average but nothing to brag about. Burger spot and the beach restaurant were medicore. Route 66 was amazing and i wished we had tried them earlier. Our server Miguel was enthusiastic charasmatic and the food was amazing!! I would say that he truly deserved the tip he received. Tipping: we noticed there werent a lot of people tipping but we made sure to leave at least a dollar each time we ate and more if we had great service. Miguel absolutely got a great tip and had we met him in the beginning we would have given him all our money lol One server in the buffet was tipped for doing a good job and we let him know it was not to be shared since the other 2 servers didnt contribute and when we turned around we saw him make a rude remark and threw the tip on the counter. Unbelievable. A server at the lobby bar got upset that I returned a drink even though i solely put it on the counter i didnt even make a stink about it when she saw it she threw the drink out aggressively and slammed the bar door then began talking about us and pointing to us while giving dirty looks. A few bad apples but that can happen everywhere. No beach but they had a pool around the sand and a nice Mexico sign which people gathered around to take their pictures. Even if there was a beachfront the seaweed was insane. But we walked down the beach to the pier and swam by another resort. I wouldnt spend my money at this resort ever again.

Ocean Eden Bay: Not Impressed

For a 5 star resort i am thoroughly NOT impressed. My Husband and I booked our honeymoon at Ocean Eden Bay. I have had my eyes on this resort for close to a year after seeing a video online of it. The service is absolutely awful - we went to the buffet for pretty much every meal. Not once during our one week stay, did they bring our drinks the first time, we always had to ask a second time and most of the time it was just water we were asking for. As someone who has a severe seafood aller [... read more]gy, the cross contamination is terrible here, probably one of the worst buffets i have been to for it and the majority of the other restaurants menu is also seafood, thus why we opted for the buffet. Just about all of the staff members make you feel like you’re inconveniencing them by asking for something. The night of the foam cannon (Thursday July 20th) - my husband and i both (on separate occasions) witnessed the bar staff take a used cup off the counter, rinse it with some water in the sink and then proceed to make another person a drink with the same unwashed, unsanatized cup. The pools are also very dirty, tiles flaking off everywhere, cups just floating in the pool and at one point there was someones hair piece and fake eyelashes just floating around. The same night as the foam Cannon, my husband took a crab about the size of my shoe out of the pool - reading other reviews this seems to be a common occurrence. I understand where the resort is located and naturally these things may happen, but seriously?!? - all those people in the pool and this thing is just crawling around. As we were celebrating our honeymoon the hotel offered us a complimentary dinner on the beach, well they forgot about us. We wandered the beach for about 20 minutes the day we scheduled before proceeding to the lobby to see if maybe we were in the wrong spot. NOPE, just no one delivered the paperwork. - i will say, Nigel at guest services did absolutely everything he could to make this better, he got us in for a dinner at BlueMoon, & our server there was also fantastic. This was just about the only part of our stay that was positive in terms of the hotel. The hotel GOUGES for anything you need to purchase from the shops - they are charging $13 US (Almost $18 for my CAD people) for a bag of chips, if you go not even 5 mins off the resort that price drops to $3 US. I understand they need to make something off it but really a 400%+ markup? And finally, we went to the checkin counter to request a late checkout as our plane didn’t leave until 7pm, the lady at the counter was definitely not the nicest, they charge $10 USD per hour to extended check out (which was no problem) but they quite literally cut the bands off you when you checkout we came back to the lobby at around 2:50 (we paid to extend until 3pm as our bus left at 3:20) we couldn’t even get a drink while we waited as they cut the bands off - so if we didn’t pay the additional we would have been stuck sitting in their lobby for 3 hours as the services would no longer be available past 12. (In the past any other resort i have been to will let you continue to use services until your departure day of) Overall, not impressed at all, i have had better service from 4 star resorts. Im so glad we didn’t opt to upgrade to privilege and didn’t spend more money with them. Will absolutely be back to Jamaica, as it’s beautiful but never again to Ocean Eden Bay.

Ocean Coral Spring: Scenic Resort

The grounds are meticulously groomed and showcase the best of Jamaica's top resorts. Modern appointments in rooms with a safari feel for a very comfortable stay. Pool area is a daily draw. Tasty restaurants, evening entertainment create family-friendly or romantic atmosphere.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Fantastic Week

Check-in & Rooms: We arrived late evening and had no wait at reception. Staff were very friendly. We did not get our requested rooms right away (2 rooms in the same building), but were moved after the 2nd night. Rooms were spacious and clean. Outdoor Areas: The grounds are very well maintained and pools are clean. There were shaded chairs available if at the pool by 9am. You can walk many km in either way on the beach, very safe, and very few vendors. Loved that all of the restaurants, shops and evening activities are all together at the front of the resort. It felt like you were walking around a little village every evening. Staff & Entertainment: All of the staff were fantastic! So friendly, and service was great. Never had to wait long at any of the bars or for drinks at the buffets. There were afternoon games at one of the pools every day, activities around the lobby in the early evening and a show every night at 9:30, but this isn't pushed on you if you just want to relax. Disco was great for the older teens. Restaurants: EL CAREY & LA TORTUGA main buffet was fine, food was a bit cold. Lots of variety for breakfast and dinner. VILLA MARINA was a nice buffet option for lunch, nice to be able to eat outside. SENSAI RESTAURANT was fun, food was good and portions were large. Booking on the App was quick and easy. MARGARITA restaurant was good, no reservations needed. Food was not great at IL MASCHERATI DI VENEZIA, but no reservation needed. STEAK HOUSE was surprisingly good (none of us had steak!), but it's the one restaurant you have to line up to reserve. Bring a coffee and your patience and line up at 8:30am. We did not try BLUE MOON RESTAURANT, the one restaurant that requires long pants for men, and did not try ROUTE 66. MIKE'S COFFEE was fantastic both in the morning and at night! Our teenage boys loved OVER TIME SPORTS BAR for late night drinks and food. ​ Privilege Upgrade: We did NOT upgrade to Privilege, and really didn't notice a difference. For the first 2 nights we were in a regular room (building 4) then were moved to a Privilege room (building 10). We preferred the regular room, the view was nicer, and unless you plan to use the jacuzzi tub, the bathroom is more spacious and practical in the regular room. We were able to eat at all of the restaurants and didn't notice a difference in the designated Privilege seating areas.

Ocean El Faro: Soak Up the Sun, Relax and Unwind

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ocean El Faro. We did most of the restaurants and found all to be excellent! Mike's coffee was a gem as well! Bowling alley was so much fun. Good time was had at the lazy river, pools, water park and ocean. Our room was plenty big enough for the four of us. We took in a few shows and did an excursion. The grounds were well manicured. The staff overall where very kind, hardworking and helpful.

This is a beautiful resort with so many amenities. The food was excellent and there were many options at every meal, so you will always find something to eat. The hotel room and the grounds were very clean and well maintained. Restaurants and other places were easy to find because of the layout with the central avenue/walkway leading from the lobby to your rooms and the beach. There were lots of beautiful places to sit and have a drink or observe others enjoying themselves. Now for the negatives! The staff were over worked and always looked tired, so hence were not engaging at times. Service was slow in some restaurants. The music and entertainment was always in Spanish. The Piano Guy was excellent playing a variety of music for everyone!!! Given the large percentage of English speaking guests, it would be courteous to have some entertainment in English. I heard many other guests comment about this situation. If you need more tourists address this problem! The beach was terrible with weeds and rocks and was not swimmable!!! Management needs to focus on fixing this problem. You could lie on the beach but that was it! Other resorts clean their beach!

Great hotel, clean, super grounds, but entertainment not so great! Amazing staff, so nice rooms, bars and pools, should also add some more dancing during the day on the beach. .

Ocean El Faro: Fantastic time!

Spent a week at this resort and had an amazing experience. We were told the resort was 98% capacity but there were still enough chairs at the pools/beach for everyone. The service was top notch and the entertainment team is excellent. Can’t say enough good things about them. Highly recommend!

Ocean Eden Bay: Awful time at Ocean Eden Bay

My husband and I had an awful time at Ocean Eden Bay. We spent over 7000k and then upgraded to privilege on day 4 (of 10) in the hopes of getting some service. we also tipped in USD 5’s since we arrived but yet, the level of service remained just ridiculous. - room was totally dirty, other people’s makeup marks in bathroom, fingerprints/handprints and things on all flushes, switches, patio doors not wiped down, etc. left paid cleaning staff extra 20usd three times with a note asking for a f [... read more]ull cleaning - finally I was there and I showed the cleaner all the marks around the room. I never used the jacuzzi tub during our stay cause I never felt like anyone wiped it down. - we don’t drink that much. My husband likes baileys in his coffee. We like coffee. We couldn’t get any but then we saw it in the privilege lounge. So we paid for privilege. For one day, he got baileys in his coffee, but the next day, the bottle ran out. For the next three days we would ask for it and get a sugary substitute. Like, it’s the one thing we asked for. We are Canadian, we don’t need to be waited on hand and foot. But the one thing we asked for, no one could bother getting. - apparently with privilege you get a butler - we had one for the two days , again, we don’t need much, so didn’t really see him other than the first hello and exchange of WhatsApp numbers. - in the middle of the night, around 130am, water comes rushing down from the ceiling lights in our bathroom. All electricity is gone. We walk to the late night restaurant to ask for help. They call front desk and maintenance. Over half our later, Maintenance comes to the room and another person comes to move us to another room. - new room is a swim up room, the room smells very very badly of mold and no one ocean view - finally around 3 we sleep, at 9am we are woken up by front desk to say we can stay in this new room until noon. Doozy fall back asleep. Butler knocks with welcome - are we X people, no we are not. Now I’m hungry, but we have no keys. I start texting our butler, nothing, I wait. I go get some food before breakfast is over. Still nothing from front desk or the butler on what is happening next. - I go to front desk, I wait in line, I ask to talk to manager, she says we can have a new room with an ocean view and that someone will bring us keys. No one ever came. We gave up and just waited to get the hell home. We paid luxury prices. Once in the privilege lounge, the food was good. The mattress in the room was good. Everything else was a massive disappointment and huge waste of our money. This trip was important to us for many deep reasons and unfortunately, other than swimming in the ocean and feeling the sun in our faces, it was not a healing or rejuvenating experience. It was frustrating and disappointing.

Ocean Coral Spring: Amazing resort but beach needs a lot of work

Me and my husband spent two weeks here in June 2023 and the resort is beautiful and the staff are amazing. However, we were very disappointed with the beach . It was very rocky. It needs alot of TLC. We are from Toronto Ontario

Ocean El Faro: Nice Place but very rude an unpleasant staff

Where do I start. Well this was our first time in the Dominican and definitely our last. Ocean El Faro is a big resort and very clean and nice place. The thing that gives it a bad reputation is the staff. We got there on the bus and tour guide gave us the nicest welcome. As soon as we got to the hotel the staff was just rude and stuck up like they were better than us. This was shocking because we have travelled all over the world and have never been treated like this by hotel staff and on top of [... read more] this we were tipping daily and generously which made me more pissed off because we did not have to tip but we did it out of the kindness of our hearts. Mostly every employee we interacted with could not understand nor speak English making it very hard to order drinks or food. The waitresses at the buffet would give my wife attitude just for asking for a cup of coffee at breakfast or even for dinner asking for a drink. This kind of behavior was very un called for especially the amount of money we paid for this trip. The snack bar was just disgusting as all they served every single day was hotdogs and hamburgers on stale bread. The food was not the best. We got to the buffet when they just opened and the some of the food was already cold. The breakfast buffet was ok but still some cold food. The restaurants that needs reservations are a huge rip off due to if you don't pick the privilege package its very hard or impossible to get a reservation due to you can only book from 8am whiles the privilege package, they could book anytime which is why all the spots gets booked. This is very unfair because people paid big money to stay at this hotel and could not get a reservation at a restaurant to get a decent meal. The biggest Con at this hotel is the gift shop. This is beyond highway robbery. Due to Air Canada losing one of our bags I had to purchase some things for my son and myself and one small swim shorts for my 6 year old son cost $45 US dollars, one toothbrush $8 US dollars and for the lazy river you have to buy your own tube at the gift shop which is the biggest Con and they sell from $45-$100 US dollars. Just the biggest money making Con I have ever seen. Another scam is when you arrive at the hotel there are staff in white shirts trying to get you to join a premium travel club which we did fall for and paid $2650 US to join with an upgraded wrist band and promises like mini bar stocked up with premium drinks and concierge service to book restaurant reservations and when we paid and all was done non of it never happened, so we decided before the 24 hours to cancel and the manager in charge of that division was a very rude woman and tried yelling at us saying that we got the upgrades in which we had proof and showed her we did not. The saddest part this trip was for my sons 7 year old birthday June 24th 2023 and they promised us a small cake and that never happened. If I had known they were this horrible especially to a kid celebrating his birthday at Ocean El Faro I would have just paid for it but they offered us this when we joined the Premium Travel club. I must say This was by far the worst resort we have ever been too and will not visit Dominican Republic ever again. My advise to whoever views this review, watch out for these Con artist and prepare to get terrible service and mediocre food for the price it costs for this place. This was just a waste of money and very much regret going there.

The resort looks nice. The adult section is generally peaceful and is not crowded. Lazy river is fun. Beach is nice. But restaurants and cafe are far from the room. Service is slow. Not enough rinsing sections. A few are not working. Food is soso. Not much varieties and mostly salty. I will give 6/10 on food. They also close early. There is only one restaurant that opens after 11pm and is super far from the room. Most of the drinks are very sweet and we found some staff are rude with attitude. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great resort

The resort is very nice. I appreciated how clean it was, especially the rooms. I was surprised at how well the wifi worked at this resort, considering how large the grounds were. The resort's app was also convenient and informative. The resort is very big so we were subject to A LOT of walking! The biggest disappointment with our stay at this resort was the lack of a beach. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Nice Resort

The resort is really nice, clean and very well maintained. We loved the water park and the older kids had fun in the kids club playing video games and ping pong. The food was great lots of selection. Easy to book restaurants on the app just wish they weren't so strict when you have a big group. We were 15 and there were times we had to be seated separately and away from each other. Also the restaurants do not have A/C not sure why as they have the ventilation installed but when asked why no A/C most of the employees do not speak English. Was very uncomfortable to eat while you are melting from the heat. I felt for the employees who had to work in that uncomfortable heat. Overall we had a great time but would not return because of the no beach situation.
