Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Beautiful Resort

The rooms were very nice and the food amazing. The grounds were amazing and kept very clean. The workers were friendly and work very hard. Loved the pools and the different activities that were offered including the foam party.

Riu Dunamar: Beautiful Resort

Beach is amazing. Grounds are well kept and staff are always cleaning and friendly Entertainment was very good, something different every night. Food was good . No complaints ! Travelled with a 15,17,18 year old

Riu Guanacaste: Wonderful Resort

This resort was safe, clean and staff wonderful and very accommodating. Customer service desk in main lobby very organized, professional and thorough. The restaurant system is skewed because you have to wait in line to get your name on a list. I prefer reservations. We managed to get in at La Toscana and the manager, Jesus was courteous, service above and beyond and all staff under his management proficient and likeable. Room service was good, at times you did not get complete  [... read more]towel set and or your fridge was not always stocked with water beer or soft drinks but the immediate fix is contacting customer service desk. When it’s hot and humid two bottles of water is not enough. The private excursions were a miss, catamaran could not dock at the beach when wavy and fishing boat had to transport groups at a time to catamaran, not safe, lost two hours and not conducive for the disabled. Huge fail! The sun wing representatives were disorganized, no system in place, even ‘first come first served’ is a concept not practiced. The food in the lobby quite good. The restaurants were clean, had great variety of food. Everyone did their job with a smile and eager to help, perfect! If in need, the medical office for the resort is good, english spoken by the young doctor and prescriptions delivered to lobby. No wait period. The bar pool water should be tested more often for obvious reasons and fresh water should be added daily, otherwise beautiful and special visits from iguana included! One elevator is down but a secondary working. When our return flight was rescheduled more than once, this resort did not displace us and we enjoyed all amenities at no extra cost. SUPERB! On the last day when you check out, you have access to the restaurant’s until 1:30pm even without a bracelet The ride in from Liberia is long and the road rough! We were very happy with this resort. The Liberia airport is organized, systematic with plenty of staff to assist, no hesitation. Make sure you have $29 US ea to pay for the departure fee. Highly recommend!!!

Riu Ocho Rios: Great resort

The hotel provided a noteworthy stay, yet it did not fully achieve a high star rating in my book. Although the room was clean and equipped with essential amenities, it lacked the charm and thoughtful details that elevate a visit. There were minor issues that were addressed promptly, though I would have preferred not to raise them myself. The staff were polite, but some did not extend themselves to ensure guests felt particularly welcomed. While the amenities were sufficient, they appeared somewhat outdated and uninspired. On a positive note, the hotel's location was convenient and met our needs effectively. Overall, it serves as a practical choice for a brief stay, fulfilling its purpose for our trip.

Riu Palace Bavaro: nice resort

The resort was very well layed out and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful. Unfortunately the food was terrible. Most of the food was cold and deep fried.

Riu Guanacaste: Great resort but for a few things

Resort was nice, grounds were beautifully maintained and staff were friendly. Buffet was good, we did not try the a la cartes. Beach is beautiful. My only complaint was that the Sunwing Rep. told us on the bus on our way to the resort that the water was safe to use. This was NOT TRUE. One of our group members ended up needing medical treatment and was told by the doctor that he has seen multiple cases of people getting sick from the water. Sunwing should NOT be telling people the water is safe!! [... read more]! Use bottled water in the room and do not drink the water from the restaurants!

Riu Palace Baja California: Amazing Resort

Clean, very modern, easy to navigate to find places, great party events (at the next building), excellent food/service. Ample of beach chairs all around. Could not swim in the ocean, so the beach was not utilized. Beautiful view of the Arch of Cabo San Lucas. So close to go into the town for evening entertainment using UBER. Entertainment was okay at this location. Have to go into the town for real entertainment. Bar services was okay depending on the server.

Riu Palace Bavaro: Very nice resort

Well layed out resort. Staff are very friendly. Beach is beautiful and well maintained. The food however, is much to be desired. We have stayed at Riu's in other countries where the food was excellent and this one did not stand up to those standards.

Riu Cancun: Disappointed

This hotel did not meet our expectations. We have been at least 10 times to various RIUs in Mexico. When we first got there the porter said that the tip was not enough when we delivered our suitcases. The entertainment was not at all up to the standard of the RIUs that we have been to. We didn’t even bother to stay for them. Usually there is a Mexican Fiesta night. There was not one. There could have been more variety in the type of food. The al e carte restaurants were decent. Riu Palace Baja California: Amazing View

The grounds were beautifully kept. The larger pools were cold but the swim up pools were warm. The staff were very attentive and welcoming at the restaurants and bars. The restaurants could have been better quality and the labelling of food on the buffets could have been better. The food on the hot buffet was not hot. The rooms were modern, clean and large. The balcony was large enough to have a mini clothes rack and table and two chairs - a great way to start and end the day -

Riu Flamingos: Very nice resort

The resort was very nice and spotlessly clean and the staff was lovely and friendly. However, It was a lot busier than resorts we have been to before and very crowded. A lot of families and kids, so very active and noisy. People were doing that annoying thing of putting towels on chairs early in the morning and then not using them. We saw a lot of people putting towels at the pool and at the beach and going between both. The beach is beautiful and easy to walk on. We did enjoy our stay there, but, would probably go somewhere quieter next time.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: GREAT RESORT

THE RIU Palace Costa Rica did not disappoint. Food was great, grounds were clean, rooms were well air conditioned and the staff were friendly and polite. The nightly entertainment was well done and entertaining. My biggest plug at the RIU was they served bottled COKE ZERO which i was very happy to discover. It is the first time i have ever seen that and it added to a great experience.

Riu Palace Antillas: Great Resort

Hotel was great. Clean, up-to-date, great staff, beautiful beach front, great food. Seven minute walk from town where there's additional restaurants, shops, and bars. No solicitors on the beach or in town. Very safe island. Beautiful soft sand beaches and ocean water with no seaweed etc. I'd recommend it.

Riu Bambu: Don’t book

This resort is old. Couldn’t charge our phones unless the lights were on. Food was ok. The Sunwing rep was horrible. The shows were sometimes in appropriate for a younger crowd. Not enough loungers for people by the pools. And not enough pools.

Riu Ocho Rios: Excellent Resort !

We just returned from spending 7 days here , we were a family group of 12. We have nothing bad to say about this resort. Staff were all friendly and worked hard to give us all a great experience .Every where we went the staff were cleaning .Specialty restaurants were great , food and service outstanding . Buffet had an endless rotation of good food . Pools were all fun and well kept. We loved the foam party !!! Our room was beautiful and we had a great view of pond and the beach on the fifth flo [... read more]or . Beach was great and we always found chairs for all of us . We also had a photo session on the beach with one of the Photographers at the resort , pics are great. We would highly recommend going to this resort and would return . The only negative was the drive from the Airport , about 2 hours plus but bus drivers were good. . There is private transportation available that might be faster. Thanks Riu staff !

Riu Negril: Riu Negril, beautiful well maintained resort.

Newly renovated, the resort is really nice and well maintained, (Note, the resort is a 1 1/2 hour bus ride from the Airport) Rooms are spacious with comfortable balconies. There are several ground floor rooms with swim outs. The buffet dinning rooms have plenty of indoor & out door seating. The food choices are plentiful and good. The specialty restaurants require reservations which seem to be always full. Not being able to make reservations we complained and supervisor staff managed to get  [... read more]us three reservations ( squeaky wheels get greased), there reservation system should be more accommodating. Obviously it can be done. The beach is extensive and there are several other resorts. Walking the entire beach is about a 2 mile walk. There are many vendors, who are friendly and not to pushy. A simple no thank you and they get the message. We passed on going to Rick’s Cafe (younger crowd) went to Ivan’s (a bit quitter place , next door. Overall a great week. The one disappointment was that there were no Mimosas at any of the bars or buffets. This is the first of many resorts we have been to that did not offer Mimosas. Not an earth chattering issue but a disappointment. Notable mentions to Reuben, O’Neil, Mario. Pammette and all those who’s names fail me. On a side note, the Wifi is great indoors but weak on the beach. None of te restaurants have printed menus, accessible via QRcodes; if your not tech savvy the service staff are more than helpful. Hats off to Kevin, Tripcentral, for his assistance with our reservations (2 couples). He was most helpful and was available to answer any of our many questions.

Riu Cancun: Riu Cancun February 2025

We went to the Riu Cancun All Inclusive Adult Only for two weeks in February 2025. We have returned rather disappointed. This is partly due to our fault of not booking something for ourselves earlier. We are two seniors who love to dance, enjoy music, swimming, walking etc. Resort: This is a large resort ( number of rooms). It is a concrete structure with not much greenery surrounding it. For some reason there is an echo in the reception area and in [... read more] the restaurants. Everything is very loud. The Resort was very clean. Staff: The staff in all sections of the Resort worked very hard to satisfy our needs. They were all kind and helpful. Entertainment: Most of the evening entertainment was geared to a younger crowd. Over two weeks we saw 4 shows that appealed to us. Almost no " English" music as played. The music in the Disco was good, but with the Fog Machine smoke and drinks spilled on the dance floor, we were unable to dance/stay. Every week there is a Pink Party, White Party and Purple Party held at the Riu Caribe. A shuttle transports you back and forth. People dress in pink, white or purple clothes. They get their faces painted. At the Caribe the party is in a shallow pool. Everyone has a drink and the music is very loud. A large bubble machine or two, squirt bubbles into the pool. There are VIP seats around this pool. Not sure who gets to use them. We were not allowed in that area. These parties did not appeal to us at all. Washrooms: There were very few washrooms. There were no washrooms near the pools or the restaurants. Beach: There was one beach that was rocky. You could not swim there. However, it was a relatively quiet and peaceful space. Did not have many chairs and even fewer umbrellas. There was another beach, but the waves were pretty rough. It either had a yellow flag or red flag. There were a limited number of chairs and a few umbrellas. We walked along the beach past the Riu Palace and a number of other resorts and came upon a beautiful beach where we could really swim. We sat under a tree, on the sand. We spent our mornings and early afternoons there. Room: Our room was large and had a spectacular view of the water. It was kept very clean. The decor was a little dated. We had asked for a King Size bed. What we got was two single beds pushed together. Lovely balcony with two chairs, a table and a clothes drying rack attached to the wall. We had to change rooms once because of the noise from the outdoor bar that woke us at 2 am. Dining: The buffet restaurant was very good. You could sit and eat in an outdoor area or inside the dining area. The Japanese A la carte restaurant was Ok. The other two were nothing special. Distance: As guests of the Riu Cancun we were allowed to visit to other Riu's. We walked to the Riu Caribe. It took us almost one hour. We were not out for a leisurely stroll. The other Riu ( Dunamar) was going to cost us USD 30 one way. We did not check this one out. There are some stores outside the Riu Cancun. Downtown Cancun was too far for us to walk.

Riu Palace Aruba: Very Good Resort

My wife and I stayed at this resort Feb. 9 to 16, 2025 This hotel is located on Palm Beach. Palm Beach is a 5 out of 5. The food and beverage options and quality are very good 4.5 out of 5 The steakhouse was a 3.5, the Japanese and Italian was a 4, Krystal (fusion) was a 4.5 and the Buffet was a 4.5. The rooms are functional but dated. The could use an uplift/reno. The rooms in the main building had a musty odour. Riu Latino: Riu Latino Mexico the perfect ADULT Resort

The Riu property is just ideal. It is not too big, easy to find your way around, the grounds an immaculate (Bravo grounds keepers, that were always working - in the heat!). The Buffet and restaurants were superb. The beach was perfect - a great walking beach that went on for miles. Lots of swimming pools for those who prefer. Entertainment was good. The main thing, however, was how pleasant the staff was. They were always smiling and willing to help. Riu Guanacaste: Beautiful resort but needs a little TLC

This was a beautiful resort but is in need of some updating. The rooms had a bit of a musty smell and the furniture and bedding definitely needs some upgrades. The al a carte restaurants are glorified buffets which was disappointing as you just want someone to give you your food. Also with respect to the restaurants they were not open every day so you were restricted in your options. They also did not take reservations so in order to get in at a reasonable time with children you had to line  [... read more]up before 5:30 which cuts into your pool time. Overall this is not what I would consider a 4.5 star resort maybe a 4 at best.
