Secrets Huatulco: Beautiful Resort

First time staying in an Adult only resort and loved it. Going there in November seemed to be quieter or less busy as well. Pools and beach (bay) were pretty spectacular. Resort employees were very friendly and accommodating. Lots of restaurant choices and no reservations needed. Shopping on site for last minute items before heading home.

Secrets Wild Orchid: Disappointed

The hotel and grounds were fine. Room was very nice. Minus the extremely dark elevators. Service across the entire hotel was horrible. Including daily stocking of room fridge. There’s confusion with regard to tips. Site says gratuity included and as such not budgeted for. However, tipping is allowed and service goes from bad to horrible if your not tipping. Food was nothing special especially at the beach (seaside grill). Best meal was our romantic dinner on the beach. With all that  [... read more]said I will say that my wife and I had a very calm and relaxing vacation in Jamaica. After all we were in Jamaica and in the sun. I love Jamaica and usually love the people of Jamaica. I can tell you that the shuttle ride back to the airport was full of very unsatisfied customers. A few of which said they plan to never return to Jamaica at all. Never mind a secrets resort. Not good.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: PARADISE IN CANCUN!

This was our second time at a Secrets resort and it was amazing! We were here for a Family wedding and it was lovely on the beach. The grounds are beautiful, clean and well kept. The food was good with a nice variety to choose from and the Margaritas were number one! By far the staff at this resort really make it awesome. Friendly and they make it so much fun! Shout outs to Sexy Ross and Sexy Manny in entertainment. Wilberth, Antonio and Pino at the pool bar. HOLA!!!!

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Best all-inclusive resort

I almost never leave reviews but I cannot say enough about secrets Playa Mujeres Cancun. The resort exceeded all our expectations. The staff were friendly and attentive. The pool was large, clean, perfect temperature with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The beach was incredible, we really enjoyed the bar on the beach with the swings. The rooms were large and had a beautiful view of the pool, ocean and resort. And the food... oh the food was delicious, such a wide selection to satisfy any palet [... read more]te. I could write an entire review alone on Bordeaux (French cuisine), Portofino (Italian), and their market cafe. Secrets Playa Mujeres was excellent!!

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Secrets Playa Mujeres - Nice Resort with a few Issues

Nov 2018 This may be a bit long but is worth the read. Booked this resort for our wedding/honeymoon. This resort is about 40 minutes north of Cancun airport. The resort itself is isolated from the rest of Cancun which was perfect for us. The fact that it's adults only was also a bonus. We booked the Preferred Club Junior Suite - Oceanview. The resort itself is beautiful but was a bit overwhelming when you first arrive as it is very spread out. We were in building three which has a view of the ocean and the pool. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, there was a jacuzzi tub on the outside balcony as well as a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom along with a rainfall shower. The mini bar and in room snacks were stocked daily! The staff were very pleasant no matter where you were on the resort. The food was amazing and there was a huge variety at the buffet...no complaints with the food at all. You had to line up outside the buffet restaurant to be seated for breakfast and lunch but the wait was usually quite short. There was no buffet available for dinner which was a problem for us as we were a group of 11 and as they do not allow reservations except for one restaurant on site, we had a terrible time finding a place for all of us to eat at once. If you plan on going to this resort with a group larger than four people, I would definitely not recommend it as dinner time was very frustrating trying to get us all accommodated! The Himatsu restaurant allows reservations but you must line up for this only on the day you want the reservation. I was in line at 3:30pm one day in anticipation of them starting to take reservations at 4:00pm so I could get a good reservation time. I was the fourth person in line and when it was my turn to make the reservation, I was told I could only book for 11 people at 9:30pm! To me that's just ridiculous! The Oceana restaurant was closed due to renovations which means the resort was one restaurant down and this should have been taken into consideration by the resort as well. We tried to have dinner at the Sunset Grill and got there at 7:30pm. We were told we couldn't be seated until 8:00pm. At five minutes to 8, I asked if we could be seated. We were taken to a table for 11 people and not two minutes after we sat down we were told that they had made a mistake and that they had a reservation for another group of 11 people which they thought was us, even though we were told that you couldn't make reservations for this restaurant. We were then asked to leave the restaurant which was very insulting. At that point, we asked where they could serve all of us. We were told we could go to the El Patio Mexican restaurant but we had eaten there the night before and didn't want the same menu. They seated us at El Patio and were able to give us the menu from the Oceana restaurant so that they could accommodate us. Octavio who is the manager of El Patio was very kind to us and we appreciate his service. That being said, Secrets needs to step up it's game when it comes to larger groups. I don't know how many weddings are done there every day but there was at least one wedding every day we were there and I'm sure that we are not the only group to have this issue. The restaurants should be more accommodating and allow the bigger groups to book reservations for the restaurants, especially when they know it is a wedding party bringing them business. Regardless, all of the food at the resort was exceptional and the wait staff at the buffet and all the restaurants offered tremendous service. Aside from the issues with the restaurants, I would definitely recommend this resort for weddings. Our wedding planner Ana was amazing from beginning to end. From the email conversations to arrange the wedding to the actual wedding day, she was polite, knowledgeable and very easy to work with! I truly appreciate all of her assistance! There were so many options to choose from and you could spend as much or as little as you wanted to make it the wedding of your dreams. The wedding was better than we had anticipated and we didn't have to break the bank to get what we wanted. We had the option of a beach wedding or the wedding gazebo overlooking the ocean. We chose the gazebo but we saw weddings done on the beach while we were there and both settings were amazing! The officiant was also amazing! She was thoughtful, pleasant and knew the ceremony inside and out. Her voice was soft spoken and very pleasing, almost maternal. I'm so glad that we had her as our officiant, she really made the ceremony special. From the music we chose, the sand ceremony, the champagne toast and the the beautiful set up of our terrace dinner overlooking the ocean, we were impressed by it all! My bouquet was even more beautiful than I had anticipated and the roses smelled beautiful!!! The florist did an amazing job with the rest of the flowers as well! Once again, the food was amazing and the service staff was top notch! Being part of the Preferred Club, we were able to use the palapas on the beach! They were very comfortable and kept you out of the direct sun. The staff were very good when they were there but there were times when you didn't see the drink waiters or the staff to set up the palapas for a long period of time. It was faster to go to the bar on the beach yourself to get your own drink. It happened to to very windy while we were there so a lot of seaweed had accumulated on the beach. They were definitely on top of it though with people and machines clearing the beach constantly. The water wasn't blue but it was very nice and you were able to swim in it everyday. One day there happened to be a red flag on one end of the beach due to sting rays but you were still able to swim in the opposite end of the beach. The sand was really soft and white and nice as well. We went over to the Dreams sister resort just to check it out one day. It was nice but we found the grounds of Secrets to be nicer and you definitely noticed that it was much more child oriented. The entertainment at the resort was fantastic. Every night was a different show. We really enjoyed the circus night, rock show and Mexican night! They are not to be missed! The grounds were very well kept and they were constantly cleaning around the resort. It was fun to see so many iguanas around the grounds and they really didn't seem to be too afraid of the people as long as you left them alone. You should be aware that this resort offers time shares. They ask you to participate in a presentation but they really don't pressure you. If you say no, they leave you alone. All in all, the resort was great, the people were great, the beach was great, the food was great and the weather was great! Our only real complaint was not being able to be accommodated properly for group dinners at the resort. We are definitely sold on the Secrets brand and would visit another resort but not with a large group! If you are a couple or a group of four than this resort is perfect!

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Very nice resort!

Great people and services. Clean room and resort. Always helping you to get a better stay. Food was great however sometime cold. We had to ask for red wine to be at right temperature. At least they were reacting quickly to all concerns.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: OUTSTANDING RESORT!!!

By far, (and I have been all around the Caribbean to many resorts including Sandals) this is the BEST resort I have stayed at!!! From food, service, grounds, rooms, beach, amenities and the list goes on!!! Not ONE complaint or thing I would change!!!

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Wonderful experience!

This was our second visit to Secrets Akumal! We had such a great experience last year (Oct 2017) we couldn't wait to come back this year (Oct 2018). The resort is beautiful and the staff are exceptional. Both visits we stayed in the preferred club (building 4) with partial ocean view and this year with ocean view. Our concierge (Tallia) was so friendly and helpful. She maid sure everything was perfect in our room and helped us with pointers for local, off-resort excursions. Beach staff, pool sta [... read more]ff and activity staff were friendly and helpful everywhere on the resort. Even though the resort didn't feel "crazy-busy" full with vacationers/staff, there was always someone available to assist us. We did notice a few overall changes in service from last year to this year, but they were minor. We highly suggest a spa treatment and a wine tasting; we tried both this year and thoroughly enjoyed both! This resort is a peaceful place with relaxing fun for adults throughout the day and into the evening!

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Great service

The personalized service at the Secrets Capri was fantastic and the staff was wonderful. The fact that the resort is small allows to get to know the staff and other guest which we really liked. That said the food was « ok » but certainly not the quality and variety I would have expected from a 5 star hotel. Also the continual requests from entertainment staff to post good reviews on trip advisor was very annoying.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Okay resort

I would give this resort a 3 1-2 out of 5 . There are some very good things about this resort but also some things that need improvement . Our check in was quite slow and when we got to our room the bell hop told us where the bars were and restaurants but the map of the resort didn’t give building numbers so when we left and since it was dark our whole group had trouble finding our way back to our rooms . The room was 5star always cleaned and we never had a problem with hot water . The beach was 5 star as once tropical storm Michael left there was no problem with sea weed and you could walk for miles along a great sand beach . The pool and grounds were 5 star with lots of umbrellas for shade and good waiter service . But here is the problem with this resort . The food is only marginal at best . We were here for my daughters wedding and when we got our meal the steak and fish tasted okay but everything was cold . The breakfast at secrets was okay with a good omelet station but the breakfast buffet was very limited whereas the buffet next door at dreams was much bigger but noisy and busy .lunch was just okay not great but not bad and the ala carts where hit and miss with some really good and others okay to poor . When we arrived home we had 1 person taken to hospital from the airport with a bad ecoli infection and at least 1 other person with stomach trouble . I liked the resort but with the food trouble and the fact that they are fairly pricey I will probably not return here

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Beautiful resort!

The rooms, pool, beach/ocean and restaurants were amazing. The food was exceptional, as I've always found in Mexico. We enjoyed being a short golf cart ride to Dreams, where the restaurants and bars were equally as nice. Having access to more at Dreams was a perk. The Secrets resort was beautiful but some restaurants were a golf cart ride away making the resort seem a little smaller while you were in the main area.

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Thanksgiving trip

The beach was spectacular. The employees were wonderful. The food was terrible as a whole and my husband contracted an illness which caused hospitalization the night he returned home. This was an important trip that went terribly bad on our final day. We enjoyed our time with family and friends.

Secrets Cap Cana: Secrets shouldn’t be a secret

This is my second time at secrets cap cana and we were not disappointed. I booked a swim out but only went in once. It’s nice to look at so I wouldn’t spend the extra money for that. The rooms are very nice. The bed is so comfortable. I never went to the beach but I saw them cleaning it everyday. I think The seaweed comes in when it’s windy. You will love the place. Enjoy

Secrets Playa Mujeres: Unbelievable resort!!

The resort met above our expectations! The checking in was very fast for the first time ever of us travelling our room was ready right away ! As soon as we got out of her shadow someone greeted us with a hot towel champagne. It was a very fancy resort however they’re also was a lot of activity great night life but plenty of room to just relax if that’s what you wanted . The food was unbelievable of course ! The only negative thing I would have to say and this is just me nitpicking is some of the restaurants would take a long time and the portions were very small. Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: 4th time still a charm!

Can't say enough about this resort, from the short travel time from Cancun airport, the amazing staff, wonderful food and overall ambience, Secrets Silversands is a definite place to choose to relax and unwind. Accommodating staff at all levels, restaurants with top grade meals and comfortable rooms. In addition to the main pool, where the Entertainment Team does the majority of their games, there are smaller pools surrounding many of the buildings, allowing a "swim up" room feeling. Carlos cleaning our room Salvador and Freddy for breakfast each morning Felipe kept the drinks coming to us by the pool and our room Jorge and Mario at Veranda Bar Ana, Dylan, Charlie, Alfonso, Abigail, Gustavo.....Your Entertainment Team! Cesar in the Spa Our visit in January we noticed they had Clamato! so this trip we brought packages of celery salt for each of the bars and explained how a Canadian Ceasar was made and we, and others, enjoyed rimmed drinks! There are also 2 separate private Facebook groups solely for Silversands, where people who have never been there can ask questions and recommendations, or those that are there at the time, or in past, can add comments. Met a couple of people while I was there through it. Been to many destinations over the years and can honestly say that we have never met a better staff. Only downfall, if you're a beach person, not a very good beach and in September, with all the hurricanes in the Caribbean, the seaweed was even heavier in the water and on the beach than we have seen it before, and it stank, so it made sitting in the hot tub by the beach, unbearable for me. Only negative thing I can say!

Secrets St James: Not what we expected for the upgraded preferred.

We went to Secrets St. James "Preferred". We had gone to a Secrets hotel in Punta Cana "Preferred" 2 times previous, so we were under the assumption that all Secrets "Preferred" were the same. Not so, my advise is that if you want to go to this resort do not pay for the upgrade "Preferred" In talking with other people on the resort who were not in the "Preferred Section" they basically have all the same amenities. We have narrowed it down to the only thing that the regular section doesn't g [... read more]et is sunscreen. Big deal. The food not great. The restaurants were not always opened. Entertainment staff were great. (Stella) Bar tender at the main pool was very entertaining as well. (Merlando) Beach Fair. Will not return to this resort.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Loved this resort!

Beautiful grounds, clean new buildings, excellent facilities, excellent service. Very comfortable and top notch service from the staff. Everyone was very friendly. Loved the relaxing atmosphere and the vibe. Clean, beautiful gardens and wildlife right on the grounds. Beautiful beach and the nicest pools I have ever been in. Nature and zen.

Secrets Vallarta Bay: Spectacular resort

Totally amazing resort already wanting to return. Felt totally spoiled. Staff, location, services superb. Entertainment staff were wonderful very professional especially Alexandra who amazed us with her energy and bright smile. All Restuarants were phenomenal loved the Italian, French and great show at Japanese. Wonderful gym, morning yoga class, water aerobics,pools for lounging and pool for the early morning lap swim. Secrets Royal Beach: Amazing resort for our honeymoon!

We had the most amazing time at Secrets Royal beach! We loved that it was adults only, had a ton of a la carts restaurants to choose from, cool little coffee shop and lots of entertainment! The staff were also so friendly and so accommodating for our vegan and gluten free dietary restrictions. We will definitely be staying with a Secrets resort again in the future !

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: just ok

We just got back from SS and for the price point, it was just ok. We have been here 2 times previous and we were disappointed in so many things this time. If you are beach people, avoid this resort. The beach is a disaster and has a terrible smell that sometimes wafts up into the resort. The resort is only a 15 minutes or so from the airport so that is nice. The grounds are well kept and the people are wonderful. The resort caters to a younger crowd. The rooms clean, stocked daily. Our ro [... read more]om lacked bedside lights, desk light - had a dining table but no chairs. the balcony missing the table and chairs. You expect the room and amenities to be ready when you arrive. We had to ask for bathrobes and slippers. There were many other glitches, too many to mention, its enough to say that they are missing the mark in service delivery. The breakfast buffet, Mexican theme night was great and all the restaurants were comparable to other all inclusive resorts. There is a main pool where all the action is and everyone there seemed to be having a great time. The other pools were quiet and you could find a quiet space. The staff save this place. Most are helpful and friendly. We likely will give this resort a pass next time we plan a get away.
